This place is located across the street from Hong Phat where I shop all the time. But I only recently discovered it. There is a few parking but if it was full I can cross the street to buy what I need and go back. The restaurant includes a typical counter with the hanging meat behind the glass partition that you can walk up to buy for takeout or you can sit down and order your meal. The 1st time I came, I just ordered half a roasted duck, some charsiu and the roasted pork to go. The duck skin was perfectly crispy, meat was not as salty as I would prefer but they have the sauce which added the needed flavor. The charsiu was good with the little charred ends that I love. The roast pork skin had the best texture...light and crispy and meat was the right amount of saltiness. 2nd time I came back was for a sit down. My son and I split both dishes. He loved the roast pork...comparable to those he ate visiting Oahu. We ended up ordering the last piece they had to go. The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and met us at the door. We were the first customer to eat in and we got our tea and place settings very quickly. Menus were presented as soon as we got seated. We ordered fish congee (CHINESE RICE PORRIDGE ) with huge portions of cod. The congee and great flavor and the Chinese donut which was the perfect with our very hot congee. The Chinese would say eat something hot and it will cool you down. The second dish arrived just as we were tucking in on the Congee. There were plenty of options like chicken, ground pork and thousand year old eggs. We were very happy with the cod fish in Congee as we think that Fortune Bbq has the best in town. Our second dish that we ordered was choice of Cantonese bbq. We chose the duck since it looked very fresh, There was also crispy bbq roast pork. The portion of each bbq that we chose was over the top. There was also delicious duck juices on the rice and it gave the rice a lot of umami as well as Shanghai Bok Choi was also on the plate. We had so much food for the two of us and we even had leftovers to bring home. The restaurant is small and just had a few tables but vey very clean. Best roast pork around Portland town! Roast duck is freshly made and delicious as well. We've eaten here twice: 1) ordered empress chicken with dry egg noodles (no broth but soup on the side) 2) ordered roast pork on the side with ho fun. Customer service is great and food comes fast. They have tea and water and you can self serve after you finish your cup. Reason not giving 5 stars - pls note that with Cantonese food I'm extremely picky. The egg noodles can be made a little more al dente and the oyster sauce on top of it is too sweet for my liking. Also, if you order a noodle with a roast meat, they should give at least a few veggies. You would have order that separately otherwise. The restaurant is located in a small "strip" mall. Parking can be a challenge at times. (We've been back on more than one occasion) There are about 7 or 8 tables for dine in. I think their main business is take out. We've tried their Roast Pork, Roast Duck, BQ Ribs, Char Siu, Beef Brisket Won Ton Noodles, Roast Duck Noodles and Rice plates. All good! The Roast Pork is good...the skin is crispy and the meat is not overly fatty. The Roast Duck had a nice flavor. I thought the ribs were a bit fatty...but that may just the strip we got. The broth for the noodle soup was flavorful. Rice plate portions are generous. I find the prices are a bit higher than what I normally pay in LA. I really enjoyed the experience of visiting this place: the family-run aspect, the packages of duck feet for sale, the hot tea in plastic water glasses, the hanging roasted ducks and pork slabs ("are those real?" my friend asked). The menu largely consists of various combinations of the same items. For example, you can get a noodle soup with roasted duck. Or you can get the duck with noodles, which comes with a cup of the same soup on the side. Or you can get it with rice instead of noodles. Some of the dishes include vegetable, with others you can add vegetable for $2. The vegetable seems to always be baby bok choy. (So if you're avoiding meat you'll be eating bok choy with noodles or rice. If you're a meat eater at least you get a choice of meat.) Oh, there also is congee, which we didn't try. The meals seem expensive for such a casual place, but the servings are ample, with plenty of meat. It's fun picking up the duck and eating around the bones. The duck has a smoky flavor. It's fatty, with a crispy skin, and quite filling. The soup is bland, but I enjoyed it after adding the chili paste that is available on request. The bok choy is nice and crisp and green, a nice counter to the meat, and well worth the add-on fee. Again, you get lots of it. Another option here, which many customers do, is buying meat by the pound to take home. In sum: the food here lacks the complex flavors of many Chinese restaurants. So my family came to try this place and I was very pleasantly surprised. Food: For my dish I tried the Beef Brisket Dry Noodle. The meat portions were very generous, tender and tasty. The dry noodles came with broth for the soup on the side, so that I had the option of making it as wet or dry as I wanted. My wife had the Roast Duck Soup, which was excellent. We also ordered the Rice Rolls off the new items. With all the sauces this was the right mix of sweet, salty and tangy. (We ate this so fast that I didn't get a chance to snap a picture). Service: The hostess / waitress who served us easily accommodated our family in both English and Cantonese. Ambiance: The ambiance reminded my family of Hong Kong Style restaurants. After seeing Fortune come up on some food vloggers I follow I finally made the trek down to the area to check them out. I tried coming another time but they were sold out of the bbq pork so came back another time a little bit earlier to ensure I was able to try it. The roasted duck here looked appealing but this time I ended up trying the bbq pork with rice and the roast pork with noodles. Both entrees came with two pieces of book choy on the side and run you ~$14 for an entree. Food came out pretty quickly but as we were dining we just beat the rush but saw plenty of people ordering to go. I enjoyed the bbq pork since it had a nice sweetness but wasn't overpowering. The rice was OK but would opt to not have the extra sauce they put on the rice and just have it on the side. The roast pork had a great crunch and just the right amount of saltiness. Trying to find the wonderful noodle soup like one would find in Hong Kong or the big Chinatowns of yore is an elusive but tasty task. We've scoured the Seattle area and fell a bit short......so now it's time to check out the Portland area. The new kid on the block still sporting a grand opening banner gives a good try but falls short. The pros first: the noodle had a nice bite and was an ample portion, the stock tasted "right" though a bit weak, and best of all, the won tons and dumplings were large, tasty, and full of shrimp. Also, the roast meats looked fabulous, glistening behind the glass case. The cons: stewed beef brisket (a standard at classic noodle places) wasn't even a meat option. The duck pieces, while gorgeous looking, were inconsistent being too fatty or lacking meat. Also, the flavor of the duck meat lacked depth. As seen in the photos, the only veggies in these dishes were a few slivers of green onion. Traditionally, noodle soups come with 1 or 2 pieces of bok choy (costs extra here). Service was friendly and the dining area, while spotless, was a bit sterile. If some minor overall adjustments were made to the decor and the food, Fortune could easily earn 5 stars. read more

Yes, I will admit we visited this restaurant because my boyfriend saw it on tik tok. It's a very small restaurant with an even smaller parking lot, but I would consider it a great location because it is at an intersection and across the street from a mid-size Asian super market. The menu here may seem extensive at first glance, but if you look closely it is essentially your basic noodles/rice + roast duck or roast pork + your choice of it being dry or soup. You can pick between thick or thin egg noodles or rice noodles. You can add a veggie or wonton but the star of the show here is definitely the roast duck!! My table ordered it in every variation (egg noodle soup, dry egg noodle, dry rice noodle, over rice), and every thing was delicious. Meat was very flavorful, and because it's duck, also extremely fatty. We also had a "half order" of roast pork to share and the skin was deliciously crispy without being too dry or hard. Fantastic Cantonese BBQ on SE 82nd. Our group went all in on the duck during our recent visit, ordering the roasted duck (vit quay) and the dry noodle roasted duck w/ veggie (mi vit quay voi rau). The servings were generous and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is small and busy. While we were there during lunch time there were always groups waiting for open tables. Conveniently, there's a station to the side of the cash register where you can pour yourself another glass of tea and get more napkins rather than wait for the overworked wait staff to do this for you. This is a new restaurant recently opened in the Portland area. It is great to see more authentic Chinese restaurants serving the Asian population who crave for traditional Chinese congees and noodle bowls. The workers speak Cantonese so it was a good sign. I was kind of satisfied with the noodle overall. I would give them a 3.5 stars for the noodle bowls and an extra 0.5 star for their good service. When BBQ is part of their restaurant name, I had high hope on their quality of the BBQ meats. I also noticed that they have recently increased their pricing too when compared to the old photos of the menus posted by our wonderful Yelp community members. There is now only one pricing for one size of the noodle bowls. I don't know if it was a good idea. I did notice that the pricing is now $2 more for any 2 choices of meat option. Overall I think their noodle bowls are a half star better than competitor Kenney's Noodle House. It is always disappointing to have NO vegetables in the bowl. Is it becoming a trend to not offering vegetables? I saw that Fortune BBQ is charging extra $2 for vegetables, very disappointing. My husband ordered wonton and BBQ duck noodle soup $16 and I had dumpling noodle soup $13. I was very happy with their large dumplings with at least 2 medium shrimps in each dumpling. Other ingredients were crunchy with chinese mushrooms, very good. The flavors were on point. My husband got three wontons and 5 pieces of duck. Their display case showed beautifully cooked ducks that were meaty. Their BBQ pork also looked very nice and juicy. However, I was disappointed that the duck pieces tasted a bit metallic. I can't complain how meaty the duck pieces were. I won't recommend BBQ duck at this restaurant. If we go back to this restaurant again, we will try their BBQ pork instead. They're the closest thing to a San Francisco Chinese barbeque restaurant in Portland, which is a high standard. Their duck is pretty good and their barbeque pork is pretty good. I would ding them in two areas. Their won ton mein lacks the slightly snap texture and duck and pork over rice has a soy sauce over the rice and not purely the duck or pork drippings. Easy to drive right past and not in the most inviting of areas, but just park and go in. I've been looking at this place since they opened as I drive and finally decided to go today. Wow, food is so good. Well seasoned and everything you'd expect from a Chinese BBQ and roast meat shop. Hanging ducks, pork belly and chickens...yum. Ambiance is how you might expect, bare with just the essentials, but not why I'm there. Staff, wow, those ladies are nice! Take time to help you if not familiar with the food, and happy to have your business. We got a few items, wonton soup, 1/2 pound roast pork and spare ribs. All worth it. Wontons are thin skinned, full of meat and juicy, noodles are al dente, veggies crisp but cooked and pork skin is fork scratch test approved. Very sad and misleading. Came back the next day and ordered their roasted pork with the crispy skin. It's now $18 a pound. Which is very different than their previous pricing of $15 a pound. I think they do a good job roasting the pork it as it is very crispy, but it's super salty after two pieces. I drank so much water. It could definitely use a bit more five spice and way less salt. I know salt is used during the curing process to get the skin crispy but feel it should be scraped off better. The actual marinade for the pork meat itself is lacking, it doesn't have much flavoring other than salt. So I feel they could improve on this. Overall I likely won't order the roasted pork here, the duck looked good so maybe I'll give that a try next time. But I'm sticking with my tried and true bbq pork place on division (by pcc) next to the Chinese mart. Expect a ton of their workers to just sit in the lobby and eat their lunch (family meals) so don't be shocked when you walk in! read more

We ordered the roast duck won ton noodle soup, the 2 item combo dry noodle and the beef brisket noodle soup. Total was $50. The noodles were chewy and the amount of broth provided was fine. This is the second time I ordered a roast duck to go. When I brought it home, the pieces were mostly fatty and boney, there were very few of the breast pieces. The first time was the same, all the good pieces from the duck were replaced with the boney and fatty pieces. Since the duck was cut in the back kitchen and not in front of customers like another Chinese BBQ place. My guess is the good pieces were swapped to serve for dine in customers.
