I love wonton soup and wanted to like this place but unfortunately the broth tasted too strongly of fish sauce, there was no bok choy and the dumplings were just ok, the bbq pork was pretty good though. I ordered both the steam buns and the roasted pig but the waitress said they didn't have any. Lady was nice and there was plenty of seating in the small resturant. But we were pretty disappointed with the lack of options and the taste of the food.
This place is located across the street from Hong Phat where I shop all the time. But I only recently discovered it. There is a few parking but if it was full I can cross the street to buy what I need and go back. The restaurant includes a typical counter with the hanging meat behind the glass partition that you can walk up to buy for takeout or you can sit down and order your meal. The 1st time I came, I just ordered half a roasted duck, some charsiu and the roasted pork to go. The duck skin was perfectly crispy, meat was not as salty as I would prefer but they have the sauce which added the needed flavor. The charsiu was good with the little charred ends that I love. The roast pork skin had the best texture...light and crispy and meat was the right amount of saltiness. 2nd time I came back was for a sit down. My son and I split both dishes. He loved the roast pork...comparable to those he ate visiting Oahu. We ended up ordering the last piece they had to go. The wonton noodle soup was good but we were sad there wasn't more veggies and more wontons for the price of the bowl. Everyone was nice when taking our orders and refilling the complimentary tea. Would recommend.
Best roast pork around Portland town! Roast duck is freshly made and delicious as well. We've eaten here twice: 1) ordered empress chicken with dry egg noodles (no broth but soup on the side) 2) ordered roast pork on the side with ho fun. Customer service is great and food comes fast. They have tea and water and you can self serve after you finish your cup. Reason not giving 5 stars - pls note that with Cantonese food I'm extremely picky. The egg noodles can be made a little more al dente and the oyster sauce on top of it is too sweet for my liking. Also, if you order a noodle with a roast meat, they should give at least a few veggies. You would have order that separately otherwise. Lastly, the ho fun is good but can be cut a little thinner and is a bit too doughy. I love their roast meats so I'll definitely be coming back a lot for that, but otherwise, my egg noodle and ho fun preferences are still for Kenny's Noodles.
Classic no frills Chinese cafe, looks very rinky dink from outside. They specialize in roast duck and BBQ pork/spare ribs. They have rice and noodle dishes (dry noodles/soups), but both times I was there it looks like their main business is selling whole/half roast ducks or BBQ pork by the pound for to go. I really liked the Roast Duck noodle soup I tried, they give a ton of duck. Nice springy noodles, clean tasting broth. Very reasonable price at $16. Dry noodles were good too but a little too dry for me, I prefer the soups. The spare ribs were delicious too. I also took home a half roast duck for Xmas dinner which was great, served w/ a plum or duck sauce. The half duck comes chopped, not sure about the whole. Still want to try their bbq pork tho. Free tea but no beer sadly. Besides that, everything I want from a Chinese place.
No frills, mostly to-go, a few tables to sit at. A repeat customer for piping hot, big bowl, handmade dumplings & egg noodle soup. Consistent tasty broth. Slurp away. Soft spoken friendly service always by the lone waitress. The door is always cracked open, so it could feel a bit chilly inside. Just a couple spots for parking but you can park along the side of the street.
We just finished an underwhelming meal at Portland's latest pan-Asian fusion a few blocks away and were STILL hungry. Fortune Noodle was much better than expected, the Won Ton soup was excellent and great value. And the Congee was one of the better versions I've had in Portland. Surprisingly, service was very positive, not the usually stoic you experience at like venues. I look forward to return visits.

They close about 8:00pm and they were already out of BBQ pork, crispy pork, flat noodles and they only had half a duck left. The Service was mediocre. We ended up getting the beef brisket with rice dish plus the noodle soup with duck. The brisket was tasty. The duck was fatty and mostly bone. The plus is it had a good flavor. No veggie in the soup. Would not recommend.

It's the same staff members and perhaps similar cooks but didn't ask for details, just recognize their faces and saw same kitchen crew there. Pork belly is very crispy and flavorful and can be a bit too salty so be sure to eat with rice. Price for a plate is $18, rice comes separately and it's about $2-3. Tried their cha siu recently and it is sweet savory but not as good as their roasted pork belly. Small parking lot
Tip - They sell out of their bq items. Go early for the best selection. Looking for a good bowl of noodles. Found this little mom and pop place by chance and they did not disappoint. The restaurant is located in a small "strip" mall. Parking can be a challenge at times. (We've been back on more than one occasion) There are about 7 or 8 tables for dine in. I think their main business is take out. We've tried their Roast Pork, Roast Duck, BQ Ribs, Char Siu, Beef Brisket Won Ton Noodles, Roast Duck Noodles and Rice plates. All good! The Roast Pork is good...the skin is crispy and the meat is not overly fatty. The Roast Duck had a nice flavor. I thought the ribs were a bit fatty...but that may just the strip we got. The broth for the noodle soup was flavorful. Rice plate portions are generous. I find the prices are a bit higher than what I normally pay in LA. However, I don't mind paying more if the food is good. Definitely will be back the next time I am in town.
So my family came to try this place and I was very pleasantly surprised. Food: For my dish I tried the Beef Brisket Dry Noodle. The meat portions were very generous, tender and tasty. The dry noodles came with broth for the soup on the side, so that I had the option of making it as wet or dry as I wanted. My wife had the Roast Duck Soup, which was excellent. We also ordered the Rice Rolls off the new items. With all the sauces this was the right mix of sweet, salty and tangy. (We ate this so fast that I didn't get a chance to snap a picture). Service: The hostess / waitress who served us easily accommodated our family in both English and Cantonese. Ambiance: The ambiance reminded my family of Hong Kong Style restaurants. It's not the biggest restaurant, but the smells of steamed and roasted duck reminded me of my childhood. We were one of the first to arrive today, and the restaurant filled up quickly. This was one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to since coming to Portland two years ago. I would totally come here again!

I tried coming another time but they were sold out of the bbq pork so came back another time a little bit earlier to ensure I was able to try it. The roasted duck here looked appealing but this time I ended up trying the bbq pork with rice and the roast pork with noodles. Both entrees came with two pieces of book choy on the side and run you ~$14 for an entree. Food came out pretty quickly but as we were dining we just beat the rush but saw plenty of people ordering to go. I enjoyed the bbq pork since it had a nice sweetness but wasn't overpowering. The rice was OK but would opt to not have the extra sauce they put on the rice and just have it on the side. The roast pork had a great crunch and just the right amount of saltiness. It paired well with the simple egg noodles and even switch it up with rice. Both entrees were filling and we even had a little bit left over to take home. Didn't get to try the soups this time but they were a clear favorite from what other people ordered.
The roast pork was good. The roast pork is the one with the crispy skin and layer of fat, hung on display. $17 per pound. The wonton noodle was good. Most of the other items that are commonly served in Guangzhou were good. Items that originated from Hong Kong or well known in HK were below average and didn't taste like Hong Kong origins.
Trying to find the wonderful noodle soup like one would find in Hong Kong or the big Chinatowns of yore is an elusive but tasty task. We've scoured the Seattle area and fell a bit short......so now it's time to check out the Portland area. The new kid on the block still sporting a grand opening banner gives a good try but falls short. The pros first: the noodle had a nice bite and was an ample portion, the stock tasted "right" though a bit weak, and best of all, the won tons and dumplings were large, tasty, and full of shrimp. Also, the roast meats looked fabulous, glistening behind the glass case. The cons: stewed beef brisket (a standard at classic noodle places) wasn't even a meat option. The duck pieces, while gorgeous looking, were inconsistent being too fatty or lacking meat. Also, the flavor of the duck meat lacked depth. As seen in the photos, the only veggies in these dishes were a few slivers of green onion. Traditionally, noodle soups come with 1 or 2 pieces of bok choy (costs extra here). Service was friendly and the dining area, while spotless, was a bit sterile. If some minor overall adjustments were made to the decor and the food, Fortune could easily earn 5 stars.

I had the roasted duck noodle soup! It was so yummy. The duck was roasted to perfection, noodles were nice and not overcooked, broth was flavorful. Our server always nice and she serves hot tea for everyone. 10/10! read more

Yes, I will admit we visited this restaurant because my boyfriend saw it on tik tok. It's a very small restaurant with an even smaller parking lot, but I would consider it a great location because it is at an intersection and across the street from a mid-size Asian super market. The menu here may seem extensive at first glance, but if you look closely it is essentially your basic noodles/rice + roast duck or roast pork + your choice of it being dry or soup. You can pick between thick or thin egg noodles or rice noodles. You can add a veggie or wonton but the star of the show here is definitely the roast duck!! My table ordered it in every variation (egg noodle soup, dry egg noodle, dry rice noodle, over rice), and every thing was delicious. Meat was very flavorful, and because it's duck, also extremely fatty. We also had a "half order" of roast pork to share and the skin was deliciously crispy without being too dry or hard. Overall, a wonderful little restaurant in Portland that I would love to revisit. I will definitely come back to order a whole duck for parties or to make rice at home. Delicious! read more
Fantastic Cantonese BBQ on SE 82nd. Our group went all in on the duck during our recent visit, ordering the roasted duck (vit quay) and the dry noodle roasted duck w/ veggie (mi vit quay voi rau). The servings were generous and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is small and busy. While we were there during lunch time there were always groups waiting for open tables. Conveniently, there's a station to the side of the cash register where you can pour yourself another glass of tea and get more napkins rather than wait for the overworked wait staff to do this for you. We're already planning a return trip to explore more of their menu. read more
This is a new restaurant recently opened in the Portland area. It is great to see more authentic Chinese restaurants serving the Asian population who crave for traditional Chinese congees and noodle bowls. The workers speak Cantonese so it was a good sign. I was kind of satisfied with the noodle overall. I would give them a 3.5 stars for the noodle bowls and an extra 0.5 star for their good service. When BBQ is part of their restaurant name, I had high hope on their quality of the BBQ meats. I also noticed that they have recently increased their pricing too when compared to the old photos of the menus posted by our wonderful Yelp community members. There is now only one pricing for one size of the noodle bowls. I don't know if it was a good idea. I did notice that the pricing is now $2 more for any 2 choices of meat option. Overall I think their noodle bowls are a half star better than competitor Kenney's Noodle House. It is always disappointing to have NO vegetables in the bowl. Is it becoming a trend to not offering vegetables? I saw that Fortune BBQ is charging extra $2 for vegetables, very disappointing. My husband ordered wonton and BBQ duck noodle soup $16 and I had dumpling noodle soup $13. I was very happy with their large dumplings with at least 2 medium shrimps in each dumpling. Other ingredients were crunchy with chinese mushrooms, very good. The flavors were on point. My husband got three wontons and 5 pieces of duck. Their display case showed beautifully cooked ducks that were meaty. Their BBQ pork also looked very nice and juicy. However, I was disappointed that the duck pieces tasted a bit metallic. I can't complain how meaty the duck pieces were. I won't recommend BBQ duck at this restaurant. If we go back to this restaurant again, we will try their BBQ pork instead. The wontons were fine but smaller than the dumplings which was expected. I prefer their dumplings over the wontons. The broth was okayed but lack the depth. It seems that my dumpling broth may have augmented with seasonings. The noodle was pretty good and was not overcooked. I would have given their noodle soup higher rating if it weren't for the lack of vegetable and high pricing. read more

They're the closest thing to a San Francisco Chinese barbeque restaurant in Portland, which is a high standard. Their duck is pretty good and their barbeque pork is pretty good. I would ding them in two areas. Their won ton mein lacks the slightly snap texture and duck and pork over rice has a soy sauce over the rice and not purely the duck or pork drippings. Overall, though, fairly good. I look forward to trying out their other dishes. read more

I think my photos speak for itself. Unfortunately I had not even taken a bite out of the to-go photo and there is barley any broth. I honestly really enjoyed the food here the first time and was left disappointed when taking to go. Please provide more broth with your to-go orders. read more
Easy to drive right past and not in the most inviting of areas, but just park and go in. I've been looking at this place since they opened as I drive and finally decided to go today. Wow, food is so good. Well seasoned and everything you'd expect from a Chinese BBQ and roast meat shop. Hanging ducks, pork belly and chickens...yum. Ambiance is how you might expect, bare with just the essentials, but not why I'm there. Staff, wow, those ladies are nice! Take time to help you if not familiar with the food, and happy to have your business. We got a few items, wonton soup, 1/2 pound roast pork and spare ribs. All worth it. Wontons are thin skinned, full of meat and juicy, noodles are al dente, veggies crisp but cooked and pork skin is fork scratch test approved. Also, the prices, with everything just out of control these days, walked out of there for around 30 bucks. Nice. Will be back asap for more, I highly recommend you check this little place out. I really hope they make it, I'm a fan. read more

My favorite place to get chinese bbq, the prices are good too, this was $14. I will always stop if I'm in the area, the service is quick. I placed a togo order and they said it'd be ready in 10mins and this was around lunch time. When I have time I enjoy eating in the restaurant, it's never too loud and they play interesting live singing competitions on the tv. read more
I came here right after their grand opening and tried the duck wonton noodle soup. I love everything about and have been wanting to come back ever since. I was finally able to come again yesterday. However, my experience this time left me very disappointed. I arrived at 12:15pm on a Sunday and ordered wonton soup and half duck to go. After I paid I was told there were out of roast duck and it will be a 20 mins wait. So I had the wonton soup while waiting. The wonton soup was ok. Not as flavorful as I remembered, but not bad either. It took about 35 minutes for my duck to be ready. When I finally got to eat the duck later, I was more than disappointed. The duck has almost no meat - just bones and fat. I hope this is an one-off not that the quality has gone down. read more

The pork is soooo crispy here and is definitely the best ! The pour sauce on the rice i ask for the sauce in the side and they have steamed bok choy . We also got half a duck for the table and half a duck home ! It's a small restaurant but worth it read more

We came here for a quick dinner and were satisfied. The service was very quick and friendly. I tried the newer item on the menu - beef brisket noodle soup. The dish was pretty flavorful and generous portions of brisket and the fatty stuff. read more

Fortune bbq is a great local spot that should definitely be on your radar. Very traditional Chinese cuisine. Friendly, attentive staff, and clean place. The whole duck was juicy, flavorful and a great value. Bbq pork buns were soft and tasty (pro tip, put duck in them). Also recommend the Chinese broccoli in addition to the duck with wide flat noodles. Fresh tea was also a nice touch. Highly recommend! read more
i think this place might be "too authentic" for my tastes. i can see why someone would like it, but whatever the broth is made out of, tis not for me. which is a shame, because this sort of noodle dish with some hot soup and some accoutrements is exactly my jam. the pork was good, wontons were fine, noodle texture was good. but the soup... sigh, not for me. some combination of too much star anise with something else or something something just didn't do it for me. but i can see why people like it, don't get me wrong. maybe my tastebuds are too "unadventurously american" after all. definitely doesn't fit the flavor profile for my 9yo daughter. read more

Visiting friends in Portland and Fortune BBQ Noodle House was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. The parking lot is tiny and there's only about 10 tables or so but it is worth the wait. Very clean inside. We ordered the roast duck won ton noodle soup, the 2 item combo dry noodle and the beef brisket noodle soup. Total was $50. The noodles were chewy and the amount of broth provided was fine. The amount of meat given in each order was significantly more than what we received at Kenny's Noodle House the day before. Give this newbie a try. read more
