I've been to their locations in OC, but have not yet here. The venue is more laid back in terms of procedures, wait time, and cautions then what I'm used to from K1's in OC. K1 is always a fun location to go to, and I definitely recommend for groups. Although, if you plan to eat here, make sure to check beforehand if they are still serving. This is a great place to spend time with the kids. I would suggest the kids to be at least 11 years. Smaller kids would have a harder time steering and driving. The driving course is pretty quick so being older and being able to steer the cart is key. You do need to sign a waiver before you participate and they call you in groups over the intercom. You are given cotton masks for the helmets that you must put on. Each race last about 10 to 15 minutes and you get the results at the end of the race. My tip is that you race against yourself with the lap times not the position your in. That's how they calculate the results. I found myself lapping a few people, but finished lower than them. Overall, a good place to spend time with the kids. They do have couches, arcade games, and a pool tables for others to play while they wait for the racers. read more

The cashier and manager was rude and racist. As we got there we asked how long the line waiting was and she answered an hour and 30min before we purchased after we purchased she said 15min therefore I caught her in a lie and being racist. Someone on the track car flew into my knees I was bleeding and bruised. My 2 ninjaneers finally grew tall enough to get into the junior car for racing! 8 and 11 years later...Cool ambience. Just a lil pricey! $88 later for 2 races each that consist of 12 laps. $3.60 a lap. 40 seconds of average lap time. Bonus: Kids did not have to wait long to race and they get a mask for the race. The kids running the carts have a speed control and will put you on a slower speed while they allow their friends to race at the highest speed. There's nothing wrong with the carts; they can essentially speed you up or slow you down at their will. It really drains the fun out of it when you aren't *really* in control of every aspect of the cart--getting passed by like you aren't even moving. And, it's not like it was a bargain at 75 bucks for 5 races. I wish I had only bought one race and left, but we were there for a birthday party and I purchased the sane amount as my group. We also hired Andrew to do a private training session which was so worth it. Honestly this place is fun. If any real issue is needed to be pointed out its just a sign at the entrance to turn indicating that the location is at that spot. You can easily miss it if you are not paying any real attention. But the service to getting started once you arrive is super relaxed and easy to get it all going. The prices are reasonably fair and the amount of laps per race are just enough. My only other issue is other's who show a lack of having any real focus while racing. If you bump too much they kill the go karts for all to make people understand. Can't drift which isnt actually a issue it's just they want to make it an issue. read more

I came here with my friends and my bf and we had a lot of fun. I just think $6 for that mask that goes under the helmet is way to much personally. When I was about to pay I had done the math and added my coupon for two so it should of came out to 36 but instead it was 46 but the lady didn't mention that. The wait wasn't as long as I thought it was going to be so that was good. I think the employees are nice accept for this guy who's stands inside the race holding up signs like "no bumping" or "press on break." He's really serious about it so don't bump and make sure you press on that break. I did feel very sore the next day because someone hit me so truly try to avoid getting hit because the carts do go pretty fast. We were a excited to have K1 in our community. Unfortunately, after only 1 visit we decided this place is just not what we had expected it to be. The carts are fun, but the atmosphere is a car wreck. The facility, despite being very trendy, is dirty. Bathrooms are a mess, tables are not cleaned. Do not expect any customer service from the staff. The restaurant is operated by 1 person who handles cooking, prepping, and payments. Wait times are insane for food. Not good when you have hungry kids. The client base is bi-polar, you have 8 year olds mixed in with older dudes hanging out looking to score a date. It's really bizarre. This place has a real identity crisis. It's either a place for kids and families, or an adult lounge. Maybe they were thinking they could pull a Dave and Busters type atmosphere, but management failed. Sorry. read more

The staff were nice, but they need to watch the track a little better. I was there on Valentine's Day as part of a competition for Southern California Mini Maniacs. They have races all year long and the racers get their points added up for each race. Thankfully only three club members showed up to race because there was another big event in Northern California that a lot of the members went to. I ended up getting some points and I think I do alright for a female. I do think I need to take a class because the older member who raced with us beat us. My husband was shocked too because he's pretty fast and he owns his own gas powered kart. In my third race a guy about twenty years old rear ended me pretty hard because he wasn't paying attention. That really pissed me off so I tried to flag down the track staff member who was in la la land. After the race I gave the kid a piece of my mind and I also had a chat with the staff member. I felt like I had whiplash the next day, but thankfully my neck is feeling better now. Would I drive all the way down to K1 Speed on my own? Probably not because there are other tracks closer to home like Racers Edge in Burbank or MB2 in Sylmar. read more

It's not cheap, but K1 is an alternative for a group of friends looking for something besides the same old dinner-movie-and-drinking night. We came as part of a friend's birthday celebration for a racing-dinner-and-drinking night. K1 has several race packages for groups and we had reservations for the Grand Prix ($60 / person). It's 3 races (12-lap Practice, 14-lap Qualifying, and a 16-lap Final Race) with trophies for the top 3 finishers of the Finale. You can come and race as an individual (requires additional $6 license), but the packages allow you and your friends to have the course to yourselves during races. If you suck as bad as we did then that's probably a good thing. The crew working at K1 was pretty relaxed and definitely knew their jobs pretty well. They got the races started as quickly as possible while monitoring and managing the race for safety. After each race, it's cool to see the immediate results. Basically, you aren't racing for position for most of the races, but more for "time" with your best lap time determining your results. So, even if you have a slow lap or two, you still can finish first by having the fastest single lap. The key is to not brake often (or at all) and managing the curves & passing the other karts as efficiently as possible. I'd come to K1 again, but to be honest I can't say it was totally worth the cost. If I was younger and had never driven, it might be cooler. But I'm not. A few of my girlfriends and I came here on a Friday afternoon for some birthday fun. We were celebrating my 21st birthday for the nth time, and I wanted to do an activity that made me feel like a kid again. It wasn't busy, only two other drivers besides us girls, and we even got to race the track with just the three of us! Our own private race! You start by signing up on a computer screen which takes a few minutes to complete. They use this information to put your name on the scoreboard when you race. I must have had a brain of a kid that day, as I wore a dress with some knee high boots. Which hello, you aren't supposed to do because you are low to the ground and you hit speeds that will make your dress fly up! So ladies, leave the skirts and dresses at home, but take the boots with you. They weren't harmed at all! People must have thought I was doing some questionable activity as I was trying to sit on the front of my dress to tuck it in and prevent it from flying, so yes, I looked like I was grabbing my crotch the whole time. Girls, also be warned about the SLEEVES. You put this yellow thing over your face as to make wearing the helmet more sanitary. After seeing how many people wear those helmets, you'll appreciate them. There is only a hole for your eyes to peek through. These things are not made for MAKEUP or LIP GLOSS. If you sweat and wear the sleeve, your face makeup will be ruined so bring something to touch it up. Your hair also can get a little messy in this thing too so bring something to fix it. If you wear lipstick, bring something to rub it off or it'll look like you made out with yourself! Or simply lower the sleeve beneath your chin. Your chin doesn't touch the helmet anyways. The track is indoors, so you will not be exposed to the elements. It could be pouring rain outside or blazing hot, but you wouldn't know the difference. The only downside to this is that the track is pretty small and the other locations have more tracks to race. Pay attention when they tell you what the flags mean, as I didn't know what most of the flags meant. One is for passing, and my friends expressed their frustration with me not following the flag! Haha! I went around a turn so sharply, I actually rearranged the track by running into the wall. I can see how people can get seriously injured if they don't observe the no bumping rules. Those little carts go pretty fast especially since it's a small track. It's a little pricy but way better than the track you get at a mini golf course. Plus, you can race your friends and they even give you a print out of your times. Note that you do not race each other on position, if you go ahead of me that doesn't necessarily mean you'll beat me. It is based on time and how long it took you to complete the laps. My girlfriends and I both agreed that this would be the most fun with large groups especially if you knew most of the people on the track. Upon signing in, you're required to sign an electronic liability waiver. After paying you wait till your group's turn is up, then after everyone is in their kart with their helmets on you speed off. As some have mentioned, there is only one track so the entire thing becomes repetitive. But it still is a lot of fun since there are many ways to improve your driving position and times. One thing I didn't like is that the go karts did break and you would potentially be stranded till someone could come and help you switch into another kart. Also, it was really noticeable when you had a kart that wasn't charged enough, because everyone would pass you. I would be willing to visit again for group activities with friends. Got there a little before 10:45PM after driving from Pasadena (22+ miles each way) there were three of us and while my two friends were getting their "license" an employee approached us and told us that while there would be racing until 1AM we would not be doing any racing tonight as they were booked solid....no sympathy and no questions (we really just wanted to run one race but would've gladly paid for the 3 races) I've raced here before so I've gotten the experience, but basically you let two new customers walk away... I am actually pretty pissed off. The wait is way worst than waiting for space mountain at Disneyland seriously. We came here at 8pm and didn't get to race until 11pm. I heard the rule is new comers don't get priority to race and is put to the later race. Heard that people who holds the annual license already gets priority over those who are new so they let all the new comers race last. How the heck is that even fair? Waiting more than 3 hours and it was almost closing time. I've been here before but I took my nephews for the first time so we are considered newcomers. Came as a parent for the first time over the weekend. Staff was OK. Equipment and facility are good. However, at $20 per 12 lap race, prices are steep and they could manage the races better. We got there when they opened and my kids had to wait in the cars for 10 minutes while one Dad went 14 laps by himself (while his own kid watched and waited) followed by another 14 lap adult race with only two cars. Hello? Why not have the first guy wait, oh, one minute, to allow the next two to get ready and COMBINE the two adult micro groups for a better experience with three cars on track and less waiting for the young kids? This is probably the few places where you can experience an almost full on racing experience. Unlike the go-karts at Mulligans, these electric karts feel like they go really fast (probably about 25-30 MPH) and they are good for a beginner, but also fun for expert drivers. The racing isn't really racing; it's more of a time attack, where whoever can get the fastest best lap wins the session. While this eases off some of the stress of the competition, it can also become slightly annoying at times where you're trying to have a consistent session, yet there's slower traffic in the way. (Why would you go to a racing place to go slow?!) The karts are high quality and rarely have any problems. However, the tyres may be worn out on your assigned kart. The track is designed to be a high speed circuit, but some turns really break the flow. (turns 3,4,5, im looking at you!) the safety is no problem, the barriers absorb collisions really well and the karts are remote controlled, so they can slow them down when there's a sizable accident on track. The overall racing experience is quite good. Now the wait times...they're looooooong, even when they shouldn't really be. Sometimes, the staff puts 3 people in a race when there's up to ~25 people waiting for their turn. There's also the nuisance of waiting for a person to get into their kart, but that's not the business' fault. :) The worst part, however, is not with the business, but with the racers themselves. If you're looking for a session where you can go all out...don't go on a Saturday night. The on track traffic gets real annoying and people have no idea what RACING means, but whatever. If driving slow floats their boat, that's fine. Dirty drivers are unusually common nowadays, but they get caught quickly, so that isn't a worry. A bit pricey but definitely worth it. Fast karts, really fast. Like a huge jump in speed from Speedzone. I think I paid around 50 for 3 runs (~14 laps each?) which were fun, but stinks if there's one exceptionally slow random person during your run. I don't like the no drifting policy, but I understand that drifting A. Slows your lap time B. Ruins tires Still, it would be nice if they did a drift night when they're about to change tires, but I am not marking it down for that. Main con is the price. The quality is there, but the pricing is steep. And for good reasons. Tracks are well maintained, staff is nice, very cool looking place, karts run well, and other expenses that we overlook. This is great for practicing for real track racing at an affordable price. But not so great for a poor college student. I just wish that there were cheap short run packages, like instead of 1 run of 13/14/ whatever the number, that they had like a 6 lap run for a more affordable price. I didn't look through the pricing long enough to know if they have this or not, but it would be great if they had weekly or monthly specials of all you can race for a flat cheap price. I had some friends over and we swung by here for a race. Be prepared to wait for an hour to race though. Also, there are $5 coupons everywhere if you just look. Even here on Yelp's mobile App. Don't get pissed if people T-bone you and try to knock you out of the way. It's gonna happen and it's part of the racing experience here. These cars are not well maintained and I would not recommend for kids. We went to a birthday party there for a bunch of 4th graders. The first car my son had did OK. In the second round he got a different car. The steering was tight making left turns ok but was "loose" making right turns. At the hairpin turn he hit the wall hard each time because he could not turn the wheel enough to make the turn and really ended up hurting his back pretty bad. These kids are COMPETITIVE also so having a bumm car really made for a bad experience. Taking to the other kids in the party several agreed that one car was certainly better then another between their two rounds. I'd avoid this as a party option especially if your kids are competitive. read more

On 6/15/20 I called just before noon to verify hours of operation. The Torrance location verified they would open at noon. We arrived at 12:45pm but the doors were closed. I called again - but this time got patched to the corporate office who let me know I wasn't the first to call about the confusion about operation hours and that the latest update was the doors would open at 1:00pm. The rep I spoke to apologized for the confusion but did not explain why the reason for the delay. We figured it was only a few mins more until they were supposed to open - so we decided to wait. That's where it goes from bad to worse. While we were waiting at least 4 employees showed up. A couple of them went around back but never actually entered the building. Then one of them took off to a food truck parked in the lot and the next thing I know - they are all sitting around eating and socializing. They all saw us standing there and yet NONE of them said anything to us. By now it was past 1:00 pm and at least 10 more customers had arrived expecting to race. We finally walked over the the group of employees to ask what was going on - to which they shrugged and said they probably wouldn't open for another hour or two. No apologies. No explanation. One customer flagged down an employee that was driving by and asked what was going on. He also shrugged unapologetically and blamed corporate for the delay without further elaboration. He suggested we drive to the Anaheim location. What a jerk! I called K1 again (both the location directly and the corporate office). No answer. I kept calling all afternoon long ... no answer. I did finally get an answer at the location and asked for the manager only to be told he would have to call me back. They told me his name was Daniel. The manager never called me back. I also left a message on the corporate office voicemail and again - no one ever called me back. I emailed my complaint and no response. It's been such a frustrating experience to know that after months of lockdown - this business could care less about their customers patronage. K1 has lost our business. read more

One of my favorite (electric) go kart places! Nice spacious area and fun track that gets switched up now and then. For first timers, anyone at the front desk will help you, but start the process by signing up for a license at their computers in the front. You can bring your own helmet as long as it has a visor or you have goggles and it is properly safety rated. Very accommodating for large groups, though I would go at least 2-3 hour s before closing to ensure there is enough space. I've been a few times at around 7 when they had such a huge line, they couldn't accommodate additional racers. Love the printout of the race stats too. Brag to your friends that you would have been the one to get blue shelled! There are also food trucks that stop by every now and then, so you can get your grub on! read more

Tim ( A "MANAGER") might I add, is a disgusting human being! We had an altercation yesterday. (Side note: my son was told he would be in an adult cart: he reached all requirements) after waiting an hour and a half to ride, when we got up we were told he needed to be in a junior cart there was no problem with that, at first. My son proceeded to get into the junior cart but realized he did not fit in there. We went up to Tim and informed him he did not fit. He right away had a very dismissive and condescending attitude. He informed us the weight limit, which my son was under but he basically let us know there wasn't anything he could do. I started becoming frustrated because he was looking at us as if we were idiots and made absolute zero effort to help the situation. He told us "Get your money back or you can wait another hour and a half to get an adult cart." after we already waited an hour and a half!! He proceeded to ask me "why are you mad at me? because of his weight? it's not my fault he does not fit." What kind of ridiculous question is that?! Why would his weight be HIS problem? Either way his "weight" was not the problem! He was under the weight limit. So what was the point in bringing that up?! He was referring to a 10 year old little boy. Little does he know how much that affected him mentally. Even if there was nothing he could do for him (WHICH WOULD BE OKAY!!!) show some empathy. It's so simple to be a decent human being.
