K1 speed is the number one go-carting facility in the states. It has the fastest go-carts around. If you are looking for something to do when your bored, or if you want to throw a party, then K1 speed is the place to go. K1 is a great place for all ages, because of its modern up to date look, excellent service, terrific money saving deals and the thrilling race itself. This business has been around since 2003 and it keeps expanding every year. The facility is over 3,000 square feet with 17 flat screens around the track. It has a mezzanine which is a viewing area overlooking the entire track. When you walk in the music is always playing loudly and lights flashing get you pumped up to race. K1 speed has excellent staff, which adds to its appeal. The customer service is great; they are trained well versed in customer safety and regulations about the facility. The facility has there staff with not only staff in the front but also on the track. They have muscular men out on the track, so that when people go under the barriers the men are trained to run as fast as the can to rescue them. The cashiers have great and bubbly Blabon pg#2 personalities, and they are always there to help, if help is needed. The managers are also phenomenal, they go out of their way just to make sure all of their customers leave happy and satisfied with their experience. Although the prices may be a little pricey they always offer great discounts. It seems that K1 speed is always trying to get new customer, so they advertise by putting coupons in local magazines. Becoming a member means getting coupons every month for great discounts. Also, during the week they have a really good special for $40, two races and you get the third one is free, with a free yearly license; with a normal cost of $6. Normally one race is $20 dollars. The more races you purchase the more it is possible to save. Another great deal they offer is group pricing for groups of 8 people or more. They have package deals called a mini grad prix, grand prix, and a le mans. This company tries to give you the real racing experience. When you purchase the package, after your final race they provide a award ceremony for the group. The people who come in first, second and third place get either a medal or trophy, depending on what package they buy. Finally the best part about K1 speed is the race itself. As customers lie up for their race they are given a head socks by the staff on the track. After receiving head socks they are given a briefing about how the go-carts work and the safety flags on the track, while is on. That is the most important park of the race, the staff want to make sure the customers are safe. When your briefing is finished, all customers are provided a helmet and seated in their carts. As the staff lets Blabon pg#3 you know when its time to depart onto the track. The carts go up to 45 mph with the wind blowing your hair back freely. The fourteen lap course has a lighted tunnel. The cars on the track drift sharply around the corners, and the customers feel the adrenaline rush as you race. My overall thoughts about K1 Speed is that it offers an amazing experience. This company is highly recommend to everyone, kids of all ages can come and have a blast even if they are not part of a race. If someone is trying to throw a party or even just have some fun on a rainy day, you can always have fun at k1 Speed. Corporate events are thrown there all the time; even so, team building events to help you get more familiar with your coworkers, and peers. have you ever been driving out on the road and felt the desire to put your right foot down and see how fast you can go? or maybe you like the feeling of taking turns a little fast some times? are you constantly being pulled over by police for speeding or aggressive driving? have you ever found yourself in a bumper car at an amusement park and wish it'd go faster? ever been to SpeedZone and rode the go-karts but wanted more of a thrill? ever have a score to settle with a friend and could never figure out a fair way to challenge one another? or do you have one of those friends with a rice rocket and think he/she is hot sh*t and you've always wanted to put them in their place? is this review sounding like the beginning of an infomercial so far? WELL K1 IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! seriously tho.... it is. K1 has got to be the best thing ever conceived, designed and built since sliced bread. never before has Mario Kart ever meant something more than just a cartoon character on a tv screen. K1 is a decently large facility that houses an indoor gokart race track made to satisfy the kid in you. not only can you get your fix for the need for speed the legal way, or your long-lived life-sized Mario Kart reality, or maybe just wanting to come out of your shell.. but this place is majorly good for two things... getting your aggression out in a safe and healthy manner, and having TONS AND TONS of fun!! the go-karts featured here are electrically driven go-karts capable of virtually instantaneous speed that can accelerate up to approximately 40mph. that's pretty darn fast if you think about it. SpeedZone's go-karts hover between 25-30mph and they use gas-powered engines which have an initial lag and slower take-off speeds. K1's go-karts are not only environmentally conscious, being electric karts, but they are super fun!! driving these things can be compared to getting that "gold star" on Mario Kart and driving like a bat outta hell.. nothing can get in your way!! the facility is a pretty large facility.. and the race track itself takes up about 2/3rds of it. the facility has a "pro shop" where you can purchase additional gear (for the hardcore go-kart fanatics); they also have a snack bar along side a seating area complete with tv's and such. in addition to that.. they also have a couple conference/party rooms which can be reserved and rented for private occasions. the track itself has a few different configurations. each day can be different.. it's pretty much up to K1 officials on how they run it. the Grand Prix track design is one giant track. from this they usually split it into two different tracks and run them simultaneously.. from that they can either run it clockwise or counterclockwise. the Grand Prix design is usually for "league" competitions or private events. regardless.. whether you are new or old to go-karting, a race-nut or not, a safe driver or speed demon, young or old.. it doesn't matter. if you have a passion or desire for speed.. if you have always wanted to drive fast but wasn't sure or never had the guts to.. THIS IS THE PLACE!! it's PERFECT to learn and have fun!! it's actually easier than driving cause you don't have to worry about lane changes or cross-traffic or those pesky pedestrians.. you JUST DRIVE to your heart's content.. or your wallet's.. whichever comes first. and if you get good and comfortable.. you may just develop the courage and skills to drift the kart through the turns. (it's not that hard.. just pedal down and control your speed with the accelerator). with friendly competitions setup by track officials.. there's a giant ranking board that shows your positions at all times along with the time. the entire facility is really clean and well maintained. staff here are super cool and super friendly. if i remember correctly, you do need to show proof of driver's license. minors (under 18) need to be accompanied by a consenting adult and sign a liability waiver. they also prohibit DUI.. soo yea.. no drinking. the good thing is.. they are open 7 days a week!! hours of operation are usually noon till night. for first-timers.. bringing tons of friends and a camera is a must!! you are also REQUIRED to purchase a membership in the form of a "K1 Driver's License" which is like $5-6. prices for races are on the website. the K1 facility provides all safety equipment. no fire suit needed here.. but they do give you a CLEAN/non-used balaclava (cloth face mask - like a robber would use in a liquor store hold-up).. and a racing helmet. i do however, recommend that you wear fitted clothes here.. nothing baggy or flow-y.. cause the go-karts are open-wheel karts and things like that may get dirty or burnt by the tires.. or worse, tangled up with you in it. so GET OUT THERE and give it a shot.. guarantee you'll have fun!! read more

Guy waving the flag here on Saturday morning seemed kinda lazy. Many times he shoulda waved the passing flag for the guy in front of me, but he just sorta watched. Also, they don't open the second track until later in the afternoon, so don't come Saturday morning expecting to be able to race both tracks. read more

I went here and had a lot of fun, expensive though. it was 20 dollars for one race which last ten minutes so i recommend if you have the means go between Monday and Thursday and get the buy two get one free so that way you get to race for about 30 minutes then just hang out and watch for other people to crash and things. There is also a pool table and arcade games if you want to do that while you wait. There was a holiday party going on and they had a room for themselves, food and alcohol so seems like a real cool place to throw a party. Only bad thing I can say is the people who work there weren't to helpful I mean we had no clue what was going on and none of them were much help, luckily its not that complicated so we figured out where to go and what to do on our own. read more

It was my first time and This place was FREAKING awesome, went early on a Saturday there. It was only a 10 min wait and we hoped right on the track, I suggest bringing people to race against to make it fun. Oh the only bummer was no drinking fountain unless I didn't see it and I asked for a cup or water and we had to pay for water (which I didn't) lol but just thought that was a bummer other than that we will be back with people to race again! read more

K1 is a lot of fun. Far superior to the old school "go karts" at the miniture golf style places. Pro's Fun. Almost anyone of any driving experience can do well. Con My biggest complaint is that the flaggers don't do a very good job of putting up the passing flag. This results in two cars battling it out pretty hard and usually some form of bumping. Seems like the overtaking car gets flaggedf or the bumping. If you are gonna have a passing flag then use it. read more

This place is great! The staff is very friendly and the karts were so fun! It was quite busy that day and alot of people showing up worried about how long it would be but the staff would tell me how long it would be. I went ot K1 for the first time and purchased a three races for the price of 2 on a Tuesday night. It was ridiculous. There were at least 10 cars on the track and they only had time for us to race two of the three races. They refused to refund our money for the unused races and the staff was obviously more interested in closing than they were in providing customer service. read more

We were a group of 9. My car just stopped by itself in the middle of the race and didn't start back so they had to stop the race and replace my car. Also my friends who is a really amazing driver got a car which was so slow that everyone just overtook him and the cars were not up-to the expected speed and performance. I was told that its a good place but I was disappointed. We were hoping they would offer us a second race since they were so many technical glitches. But no once cared about it. read more

This place is great when everything's running smoothly. I go here every 2 weeks or so, sometimes it's solid- race comes in, another race immediately starts etc. Other times the employees are running around like bumbling idiots. The girls at the front desk are always solid, but there seems to be a communication problem with the guys who work on the track and it can be frustrating to watch. That being said, as long as there are always Karts going around the track I can look past the wait times which can be up to an hour. There are lots of cool cars and racing memorabilia to look at in the waiting area and there is a snack bar. If you're really fast and you want to put in some good lap times, I recommend going late at night during the week when it's mostly adults racing. read more

This place is a blast. Only thing I wish they would do is run the guys and girls at different times. They don't allow bumping and a girl on the track is sure to slow you down so you have to knock them out of the way and get yelled at by the track guy. read more

Okay, this was is a ton of fun, but it's pricey. That's really my only complaint. Although, in fairness, I was there on a Tuesday afternoon and we didn't have to wait long to race. Yayy so much fun.The karts are fast so beware beginners lol. My bf and i came her during the week. It was not busy at all. It was perfect. Lol we both got a license. We did one race which is 14laps. It was enough for me. Lol my bf could have raced one more, he said. I would have thrown up. While drving i also had the opportunity to lose control and hit the wall. Which is surprisingly soft. It felt like pillows. The only thing they can improve on is the communication they have with customers up at the front desk. We were being helped by one girl and she walked away without saying anything but at least the other girl picked up where she left off. We will be back because we had so much fun. What a let down From K1 Speed Irvine. I bring my son Mikey to K1 Anaheim often (63 visits, 217 races) and he wanted to try a different track tonight. The staff at the Irvine track seemed bothered that we were there to race Jr. Karts. The Karts they gave us to use were in very poor condition. We asked what the best Karts were and they said corporate does not allow them to disclose that to customers. Felt like a cop out to do less work to me, as they would have to pull Karts from the middle of the row to get to a decent one. I finally coerced them to be more helpful. Thought so anyway. They pulled a Kart out that had to be the worst one there. So bad I had to ask to switch it mid race. Something I have never done in 217 other races. K1- just an FYI, you are in the entertainment business and I am not entertained. Not even a little. Christian was one of the staff members names. Did not get the other one. After 2 races my son said "These guys are rude. Let's get out of here" So we left and went to the Anaheim track. Go to Anaheim if you are gonna go to K1. Staff there is humble and grateful for your business. read more

I recommend this place just because it's really fun. I came here because it was a Christmas gift, I don't think I would pay to come here again. i don't recommend you coming on the weekends. This is one of my favorite places to go with my friends on the weekends. It's a pretty good price, espeically if you buy 3 races for $50 and save 10 bucks. I know i have spent at least $500 here from the first time i started. I got into k1 so much i bought my own helmet and head mask so i wouldn't have to wear the ones they provide there. I usually sign up for track 1 because i can get one of the best lap times on that one. Track 2 has more turns so it's a little harder, but still fun. read more

Got a groupon and went there after 3 years since last time and I got the bug! It's addictive and it's worth it if you buy the 8 races for $100 or google for coupons, otherwise you pay some $20/race. It's demanding, you'll be sweating and your hands will get really tired. You need about 2 races to get in shape and get some good lap times, after about 3 races I'm exhausted. Drive fast and let everyone faster pass you, especially when they wave the "passing" blue flag with a red stripe. Otherwise you will get bumped and pretty bad. I feel bad every time I get to hit some kid there, but I've never seen anyone having any problems. Go on weekdays and there is no one there, you get to race alone or with some other fast guy, not too much fun but you get good lap times. Otherwise go on weekends with friends and have fun, but you'll get some slow kids on the track, still munching on their pizza! read more

There were a lot of mixed reviews of electric indoor karting. One that was heard the most is that once you bump into someone, the staff will shut down your kart. It's almost impossible to make a clean pass in these karts without a friendly "nudge" to let a person know to let you pass. There were a few "nudges" here and there in the races and K1 didn't disable our karts. They actually let some really hard bumps through. Maybe because our group was more experienced, the staff figured we weren't horsing around. Or maybe they didn't care because it was a late Sunday afternoon - heh. Compared to indoor gas karting, K1 in general is a better. It's cleaner, the exhaust fumes doesn't burn your lungs and the track is better ventilated. The karts are quicker (not faster) than gas karts and K1's tracks are perfect for the electric kart's speed. People complain about the prices here and other karting places. This is not Speed Zone. The upkeep and overhead here is a lot higher. If prices are a limiting factor, try using Yelp deals or GroupOns. read more

i dont think many people can burn 40 bucks in 45 min but here u pretty much use up your three races if u go on a weekday just like that. so heres the run through simple and fun i must say if u havent raced u go through a quick orientation on the rules and you suit up then race (TIP: its important to remember the flags for warnings cus if you dont pay attention and u bump people well they dont mind kicking you out ) other then that i highly recomend special leauge races they cost a lil more and u get 3 races the same but its on their super track and thats more fun read more

This place is so much fun! Definitely not your average 'go cart.' The only reason I gave this place a 4 out of 5 is because no one helped with the helmets, and getting situated or explained how the races/flags/etc work. When I went to the one in Carlsbad they're very thorough and explain everything. Doesn't take a genius to figure things out because after about 3 laps around the track you'll get a hang of things pretty quick. .. just wish they took more effort in helping out their first-timers. read more

It's pretty intense. I gained a new appreciation for race car drivers. Most sports have down time- baseball, it's almost all down time. Football, constant stopping. Soccer, when the ball is on the other side. But car racing, if you are not 100% attentive for even 1/100th of a second, you're dead. The race lasted less than 10 minutes but I was exhausted. It's a bit pricey but we got the groupon deal. I was a bit dizzy too because the corners were so sharp. All n all, it was a great experience. read more

My daughter attended a team sports event. The K1 speed staff did not properly control the racing sessions (i.e. monitor, slow down cars or remove reckless racers). Unfortunately my daughter was clipped from behind and thrown into a side wall at 40 mph. She was transported by ambulance and had to be treated by a Neurosurgeon for a spinal bruise. When the accident occurred the staff's only concern was that I remember I signed a waiver. They discouraged me from seeking medical treatment and insisted that she was fine. Despite signing a waiver, I still have an expectation that staff will conduct themselves professionally, with compassion and maintain the utmost levels of safety. Neither occurred. K1 speed is not worth the risk and the company does not care about safety or it's riders. Not once did anyone reach out or confirm my daughter was okay. BEWARE read more

The place is super clean and the cars are surprisingly fast. Watch out for crashes, which can jostle you around and leave you with a hurt neck and back for a while. But for the price, you can find just as powerful cars elsewhere... I think. read more

Fun fun fun!!!! I had so much fun. I was with my coworkers. Make sure you are a big group to compete against each other. It was my first time doing go-karting indoors. You might have some bruises the following day when you wake up, if someone bumps into you, but all minor nothing to worry about :) There are 3 rounds. Each round has 14 laps. The turns are steep so make sure you brake before the turns so you don't lose control. I did poorly on the first round and was last but then improved and took it up to 3rd place. I will be back for sure!!!! They give the winners medals too, which is kind of cool :) read more
