The wife and I went here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Parking was easy as there is a parking garage a few steps from the restaurant. The restaurant is clean, modern, and stylish without pretension. Casual upscale. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was very good. We started with Thai dumplings ($8 for 6), a favorite of ours, and they were bigger and a bit different from other Thai restaurants in that they had pork only instead of pork and shrimp, but they were still very good. The sweet chili dipping sauce was an excellent accompaniment. The chicken satay was also a bit different but very good ($8 for 4). The chicken was very soft and tender and appeared to have been blanched first before slight grilling. I liked them more than the wife. The peanut sauce was excellent. The wife got the lamb stew and said it was fantastic ($19). I tasted the sauce and it was phenomenal. The lamb was soft and tend, could be cut with a fork. My Pad Thai was a bit different but also very good ($14). It has both chicken and shrimp and was not as sweet as usual, which is fine. I asked for level 2 heat (out of 5) and there was no heat at all, which again was fine. I could not eat it all so now I have lunch for tomorrow. It was a very good Pad Thai and I would surely get it again. In sum, it was a very good experience. This place is a winner. They obviously do sauces very well and the rest of the food is good too. This is a favorite stop of mine when I am in the Knox Heights area near Highland Park. Guys this is the genuine Thai food in all its glory, this is actually my favorite Thai restaurant outside of Thailand. I love the simplicity of their food while infusing complex flavors. By now I have sampled everything on their menu and I can't tell you what I like best. My suggestion is to try everything, lol. The service is incredible as well. After finding Ka Thai, my search for good Thai food in Dallas was over. I haven't wanted to risk trying other Thai restaurants in the city. I love Thai food so I've tried many Thai restaurants around the country. I really think Ka Thai may be one of the best. We've been getting take-out this year due to Covid, and the food is always hot and well packed. I have 4 favorites here- 2 noodle dishes: The Pad Kee Mao (my usual to go), and the Pad Udon, both with fried tofu since I'm vegetarian. The Pad Udon is unique, something I have not had elsewhere. 2 curry dishes: The Khao Soi and the Pineapple Curry, both with fried tofu. The Khao Soi is unique as well- I've had something similar in a Burmese restaurant. All 4 dishes have such wonderful flavors! We tried the red curry in the past, but we liked these options better. This is a spot that we'll be taking friends and family to when Covid calms down. read more

The hosting staff were friendly. The vegetable spring rolls and pad see ew were delicious!! Spicy levels are real. I also got the vodka Thai tea tini and it was so good, I need to try to recreate it. Two minor complaints: it was a Saturday night and I gave up after waiting for 15 minutes for a drink at the bar, and it was super cold inside. I was not expecting to love Ka Thai so much. After my experience today, this might be my new go-to Thai restaurant in Uptown! What I liked: The restaurant itself is modern, well decorated, with a cute patio area and a full-ish bar. I got my food level 2 spicy (on a scale of 1-4) and it actually came out spicy!! The pad see ew noodles were so delicious and chewy, none of that hard rice noodle stuff that other Thai restaurants may serve you. Service was also wonderful. The cons: The yellow curry lacked flavor for my liking. There were also a few small fruit flies that kept buzzing around our heads during our meal that we kept having to shoo away. All in all, the pros heavily outweigh the cons and I would gladly return to try more things. read more

Decent Thai food spot. A little bit pricy and the portion sizes aren't great. Pad Thai was good, but was lacking a little bit of that umami and salty touch that the best Pad Thais have. The spring rolls were excellent, just make sure you ask for extra sweet chili sauce as the amount given isn't enough for the 4 Spring Rolls that come in an order. The staff were extremely bubbly and nice which is always nice to see. The restaurant itself has a nice interior, pretty spacious, in a nice part of Uptown. A fun little spot we tried in Dallas! Zach got the Massaman Curry and I got the Yellow Curry. If we had had more of an appetite we would have loved to try some appetizers and the mango sticky rice! The curry was so good--the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. I liked that you got to pick your spice level between 1-5. Some of the best curry I've had! I was honestly very disappointed by this place after seeing their new location open up nearby on Mckinney on Instagram. I had previously had ordered from Ka Thai before they moved locations and had gotten their chicken wings and yellow curry. I rarely ever eat curry but their yellow curry tasted homemade and had lots of flavor. Their chicken wings were also really delicious and had gotten Buffalo style. I sadly didn't get any utensils and napkins with my first order but it was no huge deal. Since I had a good experience the first time, I decided to order in again from them after their new location opening and was sadly let down. I had reorder the wings and was so excited for them but they were so small and thin! Just bones and barely any meat. I had also decided to try their pad see ew with chicken and the noodles tasted like kitchen sink water to me. The chicken was also not cooked very well and lacked flavor. It was a disappointing dinner to say the least. My order also didn't come with any utensils or napkins either, even though it requested for some on the receipt. I will not be ordering from them again or dining in at their new location any time soon. read more

The appetizers make this Thai restaurant stand out. We love the Thai dumplings, crab avocado rolls, and spicy edamame, but I would love to go back to try more of the menu. We tried the red curry, basil fried rice, crab fried rice, pad thai, and pad see eew - all were great. They are accommodating of different spice levels - but everything was tasty. Service was nice and paced well. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a nice modern vibe. We were able to visit twice this year, and it was a great spot for a large group. Ka Thai used to be one of my favorite places to eat when I moved to Dallas in 2022. Since then its been going downhill. I actually found a piece of plastic inside my fried rice. Going against my better judgement I went and dinned in but, I addressed my concerns with the manager Derrick. The first thing he did was start to make excuses for for why the plastic was in my food. I mean is there a good reason for that? He just showed little concern and kind of brushed it off. Despite that I placed my order. I received my food. It was good but Derrick did not once come over to my table and even ask me if everything was ok. I figured that's what any decent manager would do after I shared my bad experience. Stumbled upon this place and we were so lucky that we did!! We started with a tom yum and Tom kha soups + the summer spring rolls. For entrees we got chicken pad see ew, which was delish! We also got chicken and beef fried rice, which was not the most flavorful :/. We finished up with some coconut ice cream, which was really just the cherry on top of such a pleasant dining experience! Update: Ka Thai has become a staple in my house and my go-to Thai restaurant! I get takeout about every other week at this point. It arrives quickly, still hot, and quality is NOT compromised like it sometimes can be when doing delivery. We actually ordered this in for a girls night / holiday gift exchange (because it's 2020 and we were too lazy to make our own food) ... most of the girls were trying Ka Thai for the first time and everyone LOVED it. I came here for dinner with my boyfriend. He told me this place was near his job and it was really great so I wanted to try it myself. We dined inside since it was hot but other people were eating in their outside area. I can't judge their social distancing protocol since we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food was delicious! Probably one of the best thai foods I've had. Their thai tea was spot on, not too sweet and not too bitter. I recommend getting the sampler appetizer to try their different appetizer options. We got the chicken wings, thai dumplings, and the heaven beef (which was recommended to us). I didn't take photos of our entrees since we were too hungry to wait but we ordered the pad thai and beef pad see ew with level 2 spice which had a nice kick. Usually level 2 spice is nothing at other thai restaurants. The atmosphere is beautiful and clean and the workers are so kind and helpful when we asked questions about the food. I definitely recommend this place! I definitely will be returning when I'm in town again. :) read more
