We loved our meal at Ka Thai! Between the creative menu, cute décor, and delicious flavors, we can't wait to return again and again. I love that they offer a large variety of traditional dishes as well as some more creative/modern options, and they execute both styles so well. I definitely recommend starting off with their sampler option, which allows you to choose 3 apps. I HIGHLY recommend the Thai jerkey - it's not at all what I was expecting (i.e. I was anticipating dried pieces of meat and this was incredibly tender, cooked pieces of meat) and it was SO flavorful, with an amazing sauce on the side. Sauces must be their forte, because our other favorite app (the dumplings) had the most amazing vinegar-y sauce with them as well. For entrees we got the Pineapple Curry and Pad See Ew, and just like our apps, both dishes were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Drink-wise I definitely recommend their Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee - usually places tend to make their Thai tea too sweet, but this had the perfect amount of sweetness and the Thai coffee had such a rich, unique flavor! read more

The only reason why they got 1 star is for the sake of posting the review. First and last visit to Ka Thai was yesterday. My friends and I ordered our food to go. The bag comes stapled shut. When we got home, a bug (picture below) crawled out of the bag. I called the restaurant immediately and I told them a black bug, like a small cockroach, crawled out of the bag. The woman on the phone insulted me by asking if it was a fruit fly. After being on hold for over 10 minutes, I was informed I would be refunded. Their apology didn't seem sincere. A while back, I ate some wonderful Thai food in Amarillo(!) at a restaurant owned by a Thai family. This has always been the standard by which I have judged the flavors of the dozens of Thai restaurants across the country that I have enjoyed since. Ka Thai certainly measures up in taste, quality and value. I visited with a group of family and friends in the late afternoon. A quick glance at the menu and I spotted several of my favorite dishes. There were a few others with which I was less familiar. Eating with a group allowed me to taste several appetizers and entrees. Massamum is one of my favorite dishes. Ka Thai makes an excellent version of this dish without going overboard on ingredients. Carrot, onion, potato and peanuts in a medium thick curry/coconut sauce form the base. I asked for pork as an additional item in the mix. The consistency and flavor of the sauce was equal to some of the best examples of this dish that I have encountered over the years. I sampled the Pad Kee Maw and See Eew. Both were very good. The noodles were wide and firm and had absorbed wok flavors during the stir-fry process. Unlike many Thai restaurants, Ka uses the green outer flesh from the jalapeno pepper instead of the bell pepper frequently found at other restaurants. They were carefully seeded to just the right amount of flavor without overheating the dish. This review would be even longer if I added a discussion about heat levels in Thai cooking. I think Ka Thai is careful to try to meet the expectations of its diners. If you like your Thai blazing, you should say so. I'm sure they will attempt to meet your expectations. Our group request mild to medium (me) and were very satisfied. The do have some great Coconut Panna Cotta, Green Tea and Coconut Ice-cream to cool off any excess heat. For the quantity and quality of food served, the prices were very reasonable. Service was smooth and helpful. The wine and beer list was interesting, moderately priced and the bar service adequate. read more

We checked out Ka Thai since it was just a quick walk from our Airbnb. My husband called in a take out order and they told us it would be about twenty minutes. Our order was ready when we got there - pad Thai, red curry, spring rolls and chicken wings. Everything was really good. The sauce for the wings and spring rolls were the same - sweet, tangy and a little spicy. The curry was my favorite. We got it with chicken. This is my second time here, once for lunch once for dinner. It's a small intimate restaurant that hasn't gotten packed yet. Tonight I came because Malai had an hour wait. Luckily came here and had no wait and it wasn't loud like Malai was. They have good lunch specials (best Thai food lunch special in town is noodle wave in Richardson) with your typical Thai dishes and coming with soup or salad and egg roll for on average $14 a plate. I got the veggie dish with rice. The flavors were awesome for such a simple dish. The pad Thai and Thai basil dishes were also really good. Service is a bit slow and portions aren't huge for the amount you pay. Also their spicy is really spicy so beware when ordering your spice level. This has got to be the best Thai place in Dallas. I haven't even had the opportunity to dine in yet but even when getting it delivered it is amazing. They are consistent as well which can be hard to find, especially with delivery food. I've had their crab fried rice, pad Thai, and pad kee maw and it's all amazing. It always tastes so fresh and it doesn't give me a stomach ache like some Thai spots can do. I especially love how they have an option to get organic chicken! First off, this was delivered to me so what I got couldn't be addressed or remedied in person. Everything was OK to sub-par. They didn't follow my special instructions on my Ban Mi, so it came out exactly opposite to how I like it. The shrimp vermicelli was pretty good, but there wasn't close to being enough fish sauce with it.
