This is good restaurant. But, has an idiot on the job! I have been ordering food from this place since the last 2 years. I love the 'Bhuna dal' from here. I don't mind traveling ~30 miles to buy food from here. However, on Saturday, 20th May 2017 at 4:50 PM, I called up the restaurant over phone to place an order for chicken wings. I found the guy who received the call sounding very rude in answering my call. I went to pick up my order. While I was standing in the queue around 5:15 PM, I found the guy in counter (5 feet 7 inches, maroon shirt, brown colored hair) sounding very annoyed and rude attending to another customer (an Asian lady). I reached the counter when it was my turn. I told him I placed an order sometime back in my name. He found my package but replied, I must have told him that it was a telephone order. It was rude again. I quizzed him if he was the same guy who answered my phone earlier? He said 'yes' and I asked him if he responds rudely to every customer? Feeling embarrassed, he said he was having a bad day, I replied "quit ur job then". I warned him not to behave like this with any other customer, and warned him to 'Watch out'! read more

I've been here before but my memory was much different than today. So this place seems like it is going down hill. The tables are all scratched up, the walls are marred with scratches and patches. The front window is cracked and all the windows need to have a good washing. The floors needed to be swept. When I first arrived the guy taking orders didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. Then another guy who was outside talking and conversing pops in and takes over. He knew his stuff but was so preoccupied. First of all he came back in and started working and handling food but didn't wash his hands. Then he started taking orders and then walked off while I was talking. Finally he took my order but by the time he did I was really ready to leave but my friend convinced me to stay. After all that I'm glad I did stay because my TANDOORI chicken was GREAT. Just like I remembered and the Naan Was fresh and hot. Yummy. So. I will be back but I will probably just order it to go lol read more

Food is good, but service is subpar. I placed a carry out order online and waited 30 minutes before I went to pick it up. When I got there the food was not even ready, I'm pretty sure they just put in my order. I waited an additional 20 minutes and finally got my food. My friend and I went to this place the other night because it was new to us and right around the corner. Plus, we were craving some naan and yogurt sauce. After ordering, we took our drinks from the fridge and noticed that they felt cool, not cold to the touch. Either the setting on the fridge was not where it should have been, or they had restocked right before we got there. I did not mind, as I'm used to warm drinks, but my friend had to ask for ice, which they graciously provided. We got our appetizer, the veggie samosas, which were very spicy, but came with a sweet red sauce that helped with the heat. We also go our naan bread with the yogurt sauce, raita. The naan was fluffy, doughy, and delicious, but the raita did not seem very fresh, and had a sweetness to it that we were not used to. My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala that came with bad lettuce, but good rice. The red sauce was delicious and although we are not fans of white meat, the cubes of chicken breast were surprisingly tender and juicy. I got the lamb chops that also came with bad lettuce, but the chick peas were okay, and the lamb chops were pretty good. The best part of the meal was the naan bread, which we used to soak up the sauces and eat with the meats. We finished a whole basketful! Overall, the meal was very satisfying and the service was good. However, I only give this place two stars because we both had problems that night. I kept having to wake up to go to the bathroom, and I thought it was because of the spiciness of the food. But then I heard from my friend that she ended up violently vomiting (think Exorcist)! Perhaps it was just a bad night to go, but neither of us want to relive that experience ever again. read more

This Kabab Hut is the McDonalds of Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the local area. This is not a fine dining establishment their entire menu goes from #1 to #16 or whatever and you get a plate of nibbles. Quality of the food is questionable. Not to say they use rotten ingredients the taste clearly lacks the attention to detail and time that I am accustomed to other local estabs. For example! The chicken tikka masala was more like tomato sauce than a masala & the veggie samosas were like fried skillet potatoes enveloped in a thick greasy crust with no authentic spices to speak of. Ordered carryout and was not overall impressed with most of the dishes. Lollipop chicken was not fully cooked, breaded too heavily and poorly seasoned. The tamarind dipping sauce was too small of a portion. The seekh kabob was ground too fine (resembled the texture of liver), with fillers, and over seasoned. As a rule of the thumb, good quality meat should speak for itself and not require heavy seasoning which is suspect in a establishment like this. read more

I admit, this place lacks "comfort and inviting when you walk in. It feels colder than any fast food take out (order at the counter and find a table to eat at). They will bring your order to the table. The person behind the counter also lacked a smile and a pleasant personality. I think if they address these two areas more people would return. With that aside, I do think their food is very, very good! They have a large menu selection and their naan is outstanding. Arrived at 6 PM on a weeknight. There were only 2 customers seated waiting for food. Ordered the mixed kabob combo (beef, lamb, chicken) and the chicken tikka kabob. After 35 minutes of waiting (had to ask once what the hold up was), we were served. The naan was hot and tasted fresh. The rice was good, although the rice portion was small. The chicken was OK, a bit dry. The lamb kabob was too finely ground, dry, and over seasoned, making me wonder if it may have been older mutton. The beef also tasted old and was dry. We came in a few months back to try this place out. I can only comment on the two dishes we ordered. My boyfriend ordered a beef kabob. It was very tough and a lot of it was inedible. And he isn't a picky eater, but we were expecting better. For my food, I asked the front desk guy for recommendations, because I wanted to try something new. He offered no suggestions, and just said it depended on what I like. He seemed more interested chatting with some friends than to be professional and talk to me about the food there. I asked him for his opinion on the curry chicken and to describe it to me. I felt like I was pulling teeth trying to get the guy to describe some of the dishes to me. All he said was it was good and he failed to mention is was VERY spicy. I like spicy but not over the top. Now, maybe anyone familiar with this type of food knows curry is spicy, but hey, I'm born and raised in Maryland and have only eating Afghani and Indian food a handful of times. He really should of told me! But then again, he wasn't very professional or good at selling me the dishes. He did have a nice smile and was nice, though. I come here a decent amount for lunch. Love the chicken tikka masala and their mango lassi is nice. It takes some time to get your food if you just walk in (sometimes up to 25 minutes, so you better have some time to kill), so I recommend calling in the order ahead of time. The food here is fantastic. I think the place is under new ownership and it shows. We had the Bengal kabab, Bihari kabab, and the Combo that is a mix of beef, chicken and lamb. Every single dish was amazing and everything was cooked to perfection and not over cooked. All the kababs are incredible and they serve fresh naan with your food. I've been to a lot of middle eastern, afghan, Turkish, Indian places etc. in NYC and the food here rivals those places, if not exceeds. I would definitely recommend. The best in town! I go here often. It's a great place for a quick lunch and or dinner. Food is always fresh and the taste never disappoints. A few of my personal favorites are the kabab wrap, bihaari tikka kabob, Bengal kabob, tandoori chicken, and the whole chicken. The quantity is way more than what they charge for. I really enjoy the food here but unfortunately they only get 2 stars from me because of speed of service. I work only a minute away so I had taken to ordering my food online but it was never ready when I would get there 30 minutes after ordering it and my food would not be ready and I'd have to wait another 5-15 minutes. Since I only have a 30 minute lunch break I had to stop ordering online. I figured that if I ordered over the phone maybe it would help and my food would be ready when I went to get it. After waiting 30 minutes to go get my food when I arrived it was still not ready. What made it even worse was someone who was ordering food in the store in front of me while I was waiting to pay received his food first. My food this time was not as tasty in the past and the sauces were slopped on and all over all the other food. Clearly they were rushing to put it together which I don't understand since it took them a total of 45 minutes to get it ready for me when I was quoted 20 minutes. Not sure what all the complaints were about. We tried this place for the first time tonight (Groupon), got two Kabab Hut Combos. I called ahead to order take-out. They told me 15-20 minutes and it took about 25-30 minutes. Not bad, if you ask me. If you go to other kabob places around town, you'll wait just about as long for your food. You don't want to get something that was grilled an hour ago, so it's worth the wait. Everything was fresh and hot when I got it. The naan was great --- nice and fluffy, not over or under cooked. The chicken tikka was tender and well-spiced. The lamb was also tasty. The beef sheek kabab was a little dry, but was still well-spiced. Unfortunately this place becomes a trash. The food is not cocked well and old heat it in microwave. I showed the guy that the chicken is not fresh and warmed in microwave before I start eating and he said sorry instead of try to make me a fresh he just said sorry what a miss.
