I usually like the food here, but at times it can be a miss. I usually order the chicken wrap but at times they put too much ranch and mayo and not enough spices and it can make the wrap too creamy. You have to tell them to go very easy on the sauces and make it spicy for it to taste good in my opinion. Aside from the chicken wrap, I get the samosa chaat which is decent, I have also tried their tandoori lamb which was just okay. The lamb was seasoned properly but it was very hard. The chicken tikka is good! I would go back but would suggest management to make their food taste good consistently. Consistently excellent food and service. Having said that, service is friendly and helpful, but it's a small and busy place. Expect to wait a few minutes for your food. (Though twice my wife and I have been offered free sodas because of the wait.) The Indian food is certainly good as the usual for this area, though certainly not at the level, say, of Royal Taj or Mango Grove. There's no decor to speak of, just a few tables in a rather cheerless room. The wraps and sandwich-like items are particularly good, and they won't be timid with their spices if you tell them you like it hot. I suspect some of the appetizers, such as the samosas, and the breads come from Patel Brothers next door, but they're fine. read more

The first time I've been here, the place was run down, dirty, and they seemed pissed. Wanted to give this place another try and came here yesterday. But before we went there, I decided to order ahead of time. So I ordered 4 dishes: tandoori lamb, chili chicken, chicken tikka masala, and malai kofta. The person on the phone said it will take around 20 minutes. We decided to wait about 20 minutes then go there. Coming from Elkridge to Catonsville takes us about 15 minutes. When we got there the place upgraded. Big screen TV, pop music in the background, decent tables and chairs, pictures of the menu up top. So upon reaching the counter, there was a woman in front of me waiting for her food. The guy with the glasses (That works there) went in the kitchen. Meanwhile I asked the woman how long she waited for her food (She got 3 dishes), she said she waited for about 15 minutes. The guy came back out and gave her the dishes. Asked me my name, I told him. He went back in the kitchen. About a minute later he comes out and says my food isnt ready yet. I understand sometimes food takes longer than usual. But the fact that it was only me and 1 other person in the restaurant at the time seemed a bit odd. I wanted to pay to get it over with. Total was about 45 dollars, paid with a credit card and my idiotic self decided to give him a 10% tip. We were ordering take out too. So that makes me a very potent dummy. Hey, I cant help my generous nature! Anyways, I waited another 10 minutes. Finally, the food came and I was ready to go back to my sisters' apartment and tear this food up! So we were driving back and my sister sees that we were missing a dish (Tandoori Lamb). And this was about 20 minutes after I picked up the food. I called the place and told them the situation and the guy acknowledged it and told me that he was in the process of calling me when I called him. He said the food is ready and I can pick it up anytime, which I immediately did. We got back to the apartment and some of the food was delicious. I really liked the chicken tikka masala sauce and the malai kofta sauce + naan bread = Spectacular! Aside from that the meats were tough and chewy. The tandoori lamb which was semi cold (Obviously) and stringy. The lettuce in the salads weren't fresh. Rice is decent. So ordering 4 dishes ahead of time. Waiting for a total of almost an hour, we got our food. Missing 1 dish, had to call and they say they were going to call me, which were probably lies especially when its been 20 minutes since I've picked up the food. Suspicious. And I gave them a tip!!! What was I thinking?!?! They apologized but from the look of their faces, I suspect they didnt care. In the matter of a few hours after eating, I went to the bathroom 4 times. All of them #2's. Terrible feeling. Giving this place a second chance was a mistake. Even though some of the food was good, I felt like the service was definitely something you dont ever want to experience. Just got back from a wonderful lunch here and told my mom about it. She said, "Really? THAT place?!" Seems she and my dad had an awful experience there a few months back: slow service, attitude, mediocre food. From reading the other reviews, it seems like it's hit or miss. Thankfully, it was a hit for us! The place is tiny and no-frills, but clean, with nice prints on the walls of good-looking food. Three big LCD screens behind the counter show 27 different platter choices, plus sides and drink options. Everything looked great, so I chose the beef shish kebab and my husband the chicken curry. We sat in a booth to wait, and about 20 minutes later, as promised, a young man delivered steaming plates of food. I got three good-sized kebabs on a bed of onions and cucumbers; my husband got a large portion of chicken in fresh, hot masala curry sauce. We also got large scoops of basmati rice, tiny cups of coriander chutney and piles of shredded lettuce topped with what looked like yogurt sauce but was actually ranch dressing. (?!) Other than that small misstep, everything was fabulous: flavorful, fresh and filling. Bonus: they also brought a huge basket of hot, fresh naan to the table. Every Indian restaurant I've ever visited prior to this one has tried to sell me on a side of naan, and this place just gave it to us! I was dumbfounded. Anyway, for $10 each, a huge eat-in meal in a pleasant atmosphere (no loud music or hovering wait staff) I think it's hard to do better than this. I love this place! Whenever I am in the area, I always stop here to pick up four, five or six dishes (i.e., menu items) to take home and eat, and to put the leftovers in the fridge to provide wonderful meals over the next few days. I have been dropping by this rather small, plain, and unassuming-looking Indian and Pakistani restaurant since at least 2010, and have never yet had a bad dish nor any problems with any of the staffers. Rather, their food is great, and I have always found the staffers to be helpful. As I mentioned above, this place is rather small, and that fact, coupled with its location in a small nondescript strip mall along Baltimore National Pike, and the hole-in-the-wall appearance of the storefront, could easily lead a casual observer into concluding that this is an Indian restaurant that would best be skipped. That would be a big mistake! The reality is that their menu is very good, with lots of variety, and their food is spicy, and made with fresh ingredients. The interior of this little place is small and plain, but I will note that the interior, including the signage and the tables and chairs (mostly booths, but a few small standalone tables with chairs as well), seems to have been upgraded at least twice since 2010, and so the interior looks even better now than it did in 2010, but frankly, I never had any complaints even back in 2010 when the interior was much simpler, plainer and rather unadorned. If you are looking for a fancy interior, or glitz, or mood lighting, or for linen-covered tables with attentive waitservers, this is not the restaurant to visit. However, if you are looking for a very good menu with a broad range of offerings, and very good Indian and Pakistani food, then this is the place to visit! Oh, and the prices are also very inexpensive! BTW, if you are ordering takeout food, I suggest that before you leave the store you open each bag and inspect the contents to insure that everything that you ordered is there. This little bit of due diligence only takes a minute or two of your time, and a little bit of effort, but can save you lots of headaches later in case there should happen to be a missing item. We have been going here for several years and the food has always been great. Just went there as recently as today and the food was even better than it's been in previous years. My husband got the Tandoori chicken which is off the hook, I had the chicken wrap which is always great and the kids had their usual kids meal. The place is much nicer looking now, with private booths on either side. Looks much better than the plain tables & chairs they had before. This is definitely one of the better Indian/Paki food places in the area, so I would recommend giving it a try. read more

One of the cleaner South Asian restaurants I've been to in the area. It definitely exceeded my expectations because I walked in there as a last minute thing, not expecting much. The food was delicious, and the service was nice. I ordered the plate of beef boti kabob with a sweetened yogurt lassi on the side. I also requested they keep the spiciness fairly mild, which they did. The seating was plentiful and the background music was surprisingly pleasant. Props to whoever picks the tunes! This place is SERIOUSLY DELICIOUS. Sorry, but those caps were really necessary. I found this place by accident when I seeked out Patel Brothers indian market next door, and decided to give it try. I've been back a few times since then, and I usually order the chicken kababs or the combo which comes with seekh, chicken and lamb kababs. They are extremely slow-last time I called in my order, I specifically said I didn't have much time for my lunch break and asked an accurate time when it would be ready so I wasn't waiting unnecessarily. They said 20 minutes. So, when I got there thirty minutes later and my food wasn't ready, and I had to wait an additional 15 minutes, it was pretty annoying. At this point, I'd generally stop frequenting a place with this kind of service, but the kababs are seriously tasty. The one taller, thin guy who is always at the counter is incredibly rude and unfriendly, and never, ever apologetic when the orders take twice as long as promised, or as last time, when the order is wrong. He actually checked the order with me as he was giving it to me, but said the reverse of what I'd asked for, and so he went back to the kitchen to double check, and then told me it was right, he'd just misspoken. Nope, he looked at the food, went back to the kitchen, then asked me again, and lied through his teeth that my order was right, which I didn't find out until I got back to my office. So, yeah, I keep going back, even though the service sucks, that guy is SO rude, and they are very slow (which I would be fine with if they would just give honest time estimates-don't mind waiting for great food), but what can I say? It's not easy to find a great kabab place. I just hope someone who cares sees this and does something to improve their service, then I would feel comfortable giving them an honest 5 stars! read more

Another update for Kabob Hut! They're going back up to their original 3 stars! My mom and I wanted to go for Thai on Memorial Day but the place was closed, so out of hunger and my desire for ethnic food, we ended up here. Much to my surprise they've painted and cleaned!! It looks MUCH better in here! I would have liked to upgrade them to four stars, but unfortunately the service hasn't changed. I haven't been in months, so I didn't recognize the girl at the counter, but she looked as if Kabob Hut was the last place she wanted to be on the face of the earth. No smiles, no thank you.... nada. When we sat down to wait for our food my mom said that she almost told her "hold back your enthusiasm!!" And my mom is a nice person! Haha. Anyway.... after giving up on this place awhile back and exploring other Indian restaurants, I've come to find that this might just be my favorite in terms of the food. I've been to 4-5 other Indian restaurants and NO ONE has naan that comes close to this place!! It's light and fluffy and they give you about twice as much as other restaurants do when you order a side and this amount comes WITH your meal. (Plus, a side of it is only 1.50, compared to the avg of $3 at other places I've been to.) So I got my usual chicken tikka masala that came with a few bites of side salad, rice and all that fluffy $*!^&@ delicious naan for $10! Can't beat it. My mom got Malai Kofta, which we both also like. We shared the tandoori wings as an app for the first time and they were really freakin good too... stained our fingers a little but worth it. They were still kind of slow, but it's worth the wait. This is now on the list for me where the great food/value is worth the crappy counter service. Kabob Hut has lamb biryani cooked to perfection. Aromatic spices, tender lamb, and a limitless supply of raita. From a far away glance, one can easily deduce that Kabob Hut has steep competition since this fast food style restaurant is in close proximity to Shaheen and other Indian food joints. After ordering my food, I went to go wash my hands and there was no soap in the restroom. I told this to the manager and his response was "don't use the bathroom then or wash hands". Further he stated that soap will be delivered tomorrow. What kind of an ignorant manager is this?? Came here on a whim since I pass this place all the time. Ordered: Bengle Kabab platter, Kabab Hut Combo platter (made up of Lamb, chicken, and beef sheek kabobs), and the Lamb Korma platter. The Beef Sheek Kabab was SX and I's least favorite kabob item. It was a bit too dry and lacking in seasoning. The Bengle Kabab was a bit better, as it was better seasoned and spicy. It wasn't as dry as the beef one. The Lamb korma (our favorite item we ordered) was quite tasty and had a slight spicy kick. It was missing the nuts and raisins though... so that was a bit of a disappointment. The platters came with naan (yummy), rice (okay), and a salad mix of iceberg, carrots, and red cabbage (this was the worst thing ever... unfresh and wilty/soggy). The Bengle Kabab platter came with chana masala (chickpeas) instead of rice. If I come back, probably just stick with the more Indian items (ie: curries, masalas, kormas, biryanis). For kabobs, I would just make the drive to Maiwand Kabob in Columbia, MD. Their kabobs and appetizers are stellar. read more

The person at the front was friendly and patient, he also cautioned me about the spiciness of my dish (Bihari Tikka) before confirming my order, which I appreciated because nowhere on the menu does it tell you it's spicy. We came pretty late when there was only one table and one other take-out order. But once 9 pm rolled around, a lot of people started coming in. And in my mind, I had to take a gander as to whether this was Indian medium meaning potentially too spicy for me? Or... if it was my personal medium. But you know... spiciness levels are so personally subjective! It turned out it was what I would call medium spicy turned up a little notch, so I could get through the whole meal without needing constant water. Both the Bihari and Tandoori Chicken were, I thought, surprisingly moist, too. SERVICE & SPEED// Service doesn't seem bad, while we waited, we noticed that a whole table had gone out to smoke and left their food at the table. When they came back, the guy behind the counter came and replaced their naan with a fresh basket. He also seemed quite patient when a family of at least 8 came in and crowded around the front chaotically ordering/asking questions. A little too patient maybe, because at least two people came in to pick up their phoned-in orders and their orders had to wait on the counter some more. From the behavior of the pick-up customers (who got a drink, went outside, came back, sat down), it seems like this might be typical. So expect to wait a while whether you're coming in for pick-up, eating in, or waiting for your order to be taken. DECOR/AMBIANCE// It's a little shabby. It looks like they've done some remodeling to make it look fresher and more modern, but unfortunately á la DIY. Floors felt a bit greasy. I will definitely recommend getting the papri chaat, it was so delicious! I got the beef kabob wrap. The portions were good, I ate half of the wrap and felt immediately. There were way too many chunks of beef inside the wrap. The beef was plain but surrounded with delicious salad that was coated in chutney sauce. On the other hand, the fries weren't really to my liking. Next time I go, I will definitely give the curry a try. read more

But today we ordered pot dhum biryani togo and when I opened the box oil was floating out and tasted inedible .And its expensive $17 just for a biryani??. We went on a weekday and ordered off the menu. The food took a long time to come out, but they gave us an extra order of samosas for our trouble. When it came out, the food was fantastic. Some of the best Indian I've had in the area. I got the impression that they made our food while we waited, which was nice cause it was super fresh and tasty, but obviously we had to wait a long time.
