We've been going there for many years. Love their chai! We like halwa, puri and cholay combo for breakfast along with chicken seekh Kababs and beef Bihari kabab. Past two years we've been getting their whole turkey for thanksgiving dinner. This year as soon as we craved the turkey it smelled like trash!!! Very disappointing!! We spend $105. They give you you very small tray of rice with it, gravy and boiled eggs. They forgot to give us the boiled eggs. The rice quantity compared to the size of the turkey was very small. Last year the turkey we got looked good from the outside but inside it was raw in places. We will never get turkey from there that's for sure. We got back $95 only instead of $105 because the guy said he can't return tax money. But we were glad to get that back because any type of refund from a desi(Asian) place is a miracle in itself. The food was VERY bad and not fresh. They disrespect their customers. They fight with their customers. I had been there several times and seen them agruing with customers. And they are very rude. I don't know if it's constipation that's hurting my tummy, or the food that I just ate 2.5 hours. Probably the latter. The place inside is very disgusting. The waitress was a bitch to us, apparently because I was non-Indian, according to my friend who was Bengali. Plus, my friend was speaking English to her. It took forever for our food to come, and all we ordered were 3 kebabs, 3 naans, and 1 vegetable samosa. And it was very confusing. We didn't know if we were supposed to sit, and then wait for our food, or wait for our food at the counter, and then sit. Apparently, we were supposed to wait at our tables for our food to be brought over to us. After like 10 hrs of waiting, our food finally came. We asked if we could sit upstairs, but we were rudely replied "no". But oh wait, they forgot a naan, and my samosa, and the sauce, and the salad that came with the kebab. While the waitress set down the food, the naan was touching the dirty looking platter, and it also scraped across the table as we switched seats. Absolutely disgusting. She also touched our naan too, and who knows what she touched. While eating, I saw her move a garbage can, and pick dropped items on the floor, so you can guess how dirty her hands were. Plus, the plate on which the kebab was served on seemed like it was just used by a previous customer, without being washed. There were leftover salad on the plate, along with our kebabs, and moldy looking spots on the plate itself (it probably was not mold, but looked like it). I can't believe neither of us complained. I would've if it was I who brought us to this place. I'm pretty sure many would've left w/o eating it, but I don't like wasting food, and many people were eating, so I just ate it as well. I felt disgusting eating all the food, except the samosa, b/c that was on a paper plate. The kebab was good, nicely seasoned, and the naan is very soft and doughy, which I like. The samosa was good as well, but a little too spicy for me. If you're gonna come here, please order out instead. There's nothing wrong with the food (just the cleaniness bit), and both my friends come here, and just order to go. If the atmosphere was nicer (warmer perhaps, and not sitting behind the garbage can), cleaner, with better service, I would've given this place a better rating. Noisy, chaotic, but great fun. Cricket was on two giant screens, and the lights were bright, but the windows and chairs were hand-carved wood--kind of an odd mismatch. Waiters ignored us until we flagged one down, but then he was helpful. And then it was 20 minutes before we saw him again. We ordered several appetizers and a few entrees among us--and when it finally came, the gola kabab was perfect, minced meat and spices that I could not describe. We also had chicken korma and goat curry which were excellent but very spicy. The mixed vegetable appetizer was very spinach-heavy, but we liked that. Everything else was very good. Looking around, we were impressed with the sheer diversity of the clientele--like you'd expect in Jackson Heights. So, for all that, it was $55 for four of us. Definitely worth a visit. read more

This is the place if you wan't to eat at a tasty kabab. It has been functioning longer than i can remember, and it is probably one of the oldest Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani restaurants. Kabab King is not a romantic place, nor does it have a good setting or atmosphere. But what makes it really amazing, is the taste of the food, and its location and how accessible it is by transportation. The food is also moderately cheap when compared to other restaurants in NYC whether they be American, Chinese, or South Asian. The food however, did take long to come, but the waiter enabled me to stay downstairs and look at my food being made, which gave me a satisfactory feeling of my food being cooked in a fresh and clean manner. Fresh and tasty food but too busy and too crowded! I usually drop by this place to get their chicken kebabs, nan, and samosas. I highly recommend the three, as I think they might be their best sellers as well. The nan is very soft and both kebabs and nans are freshly made infront of you when ordered. The samosas are crisp and spicy and really tasty as well and beats other spots around here for snacks. I have been having their goods for over 10 yrs and haven't had any complaints. I'd give them zero stars if I could. My mother went here to buy some samosas and they messed up her order. She noticed once she looked into the bag after stepping out of the store and when she told them about the mix up the guy was very offensive. He told her "why did you step out of the store? How do I know that you didn't give it to someone outside and come back in." Not only did they screw up but they made it seem like my mother was trying to swindle them. Ok. I read some of the reviews on here and it all seemed negative. Unlike theirs, mine is a positive experience. NYers have a variety of choice when it comes to Bengali food. However, us viwitord don't in our cities. Whenever I'm in NYC I make it a point to hop into e train to get over to jackson heights so I can eat some food here. This place has been closed various times.They used to have the second floor open for customers about two years ago but they closed it because is in bad shape and is still closed since then. Great place, good economical food. Bihari kabab, chicken chargha and kadhai gosht are worth trying. I also like their naan. Now about their chinese menu, which they have recently started , i ordered chilli chicken -perfectly spiced and tender but had a little too much of oil. But full worth of money! DO NOT GO IN!!!! The service is absolutely horrendous. Places like this should be investigated and shut down. We waiting for an hour for our food and a soda and after an hour i tried to flag down our waiter who raised his voice at me telling me "are are". This place is the absolute worst, they don't deserve anyone's patronage. The person who waited on us was so rude, i lost my appetite. Also, check the food and your bill, they overcharged us. I tried the spicy rice with chicken, and the one with lamb (both of them very tasty) my problem here is that they keep the food at wrong temperture. If you want fresh and delicious food around the clock 24/7 , than this is the place. To start off there naan is very delicious, and the very veggie samosas are a must try ( be careful they are very spicy). Don't try there meat samosas I have tried it many times its like chewing a cardboard with grease and salt. The King of Bihari Kabab. Simply no better place for spicy, marinated, grilled meat in NYC. And Chicken Tikka for that matter. Though not the place for Veg. curries, no other Indo-Pak place comes close. And IMO this includes all the high-end places in Manhattan. Go for both Bihari Kabab and the Chicken Tikka with a Nan and Masala Tea. Very nice wait staff as well. And if you're so inclined hit up the panwallah on the way out for fresh made pan. Very tasty authentic Pakistani Indian food. This restaurant is comprised of two levels. On the ground level is take out and sparse seating. Upstairs is the banquet hall you could say. This place gets packed and wait times for tables can be long. Oddly when I was there with friends they only had half of the hall opened and they decided to open the rest of it when it got less busy. It made no sense. The chicken tikki is freaking good. Also their tea is good. Warning though, it will keep you up all night long. The service here is ridiculously bad though. Be prepared to wait, wait, and wait some more not to mention waiters forgetting orders and bringing your food an hour later. read more

this place is the real deal. when we planned our NYC trip, my bf and I specifically dedicated a whole afternoon to hit up jackson heights and reconnect with our people ... through eating. kabab king was our last stop ... it was the perfect ending. they have not only indian food but alot of authentic pakistani dishes that you can't find everywhere....which is great especially if you're a fan of meat. because when it comes to cooking kababs pakistan is, well, king. (yah yah i know that was bad.) When looking at the meat dishes I'd suggest straying from the common indian items (chicken tikka, tandoori chicken) go for the real stuff, thats hard to find. Check out some of the rarer dishes like the chicken bihari kabab, which was spicy, moist, and delicious, or the Haleem (lentils stewed with meat for hours), which I've only ever seen at 2 other pakistani restaurants (and that too on special). This is my first time trying Indian food so i let my friend order for me. We ordered: Samosas (potato/meat)- So good. i enjoyed the potato samosas more because they were spicy. One of the better desi eateries out there. And I think they have the best kabab so they earn the title king. The seating area caught me by surprised with how big and nice it was. Food was plentiful and fair prices. Just bring cash cause they give you a hassle if you use card and its a nice place for a date if the single guys stop looking at my girlfriend.
