We were in Portland for the wknd, and Kabba's kitchen was just a few blocks from our airbnb. Got the yassa and fataya - both were incredible. We had a ton of great food in Portland all over the city, but both agreed this was the best. Sat outside eating it and it was so incredibly delicious that we didn't care at all how cold and dark it was that night. Kabba's kitchen is top of my list next time I'm in Portland. read more

I've eaten at a lot of places and have never written a review. But my experience here at Kabba's was so wonderfully pleasant that I had to share. I came here for the first time last weekend with a friend and let me tell you, their customer service and hospitality alone deserves 5 stars! We were offered so many delicious samples to try because we weren't sure what to get. Sodu's (not sure on the spelling) personality was warm and welcoming, and he answered all my questions about the bissap drink (traditional Senegalese drink, both the ginger and hibiscus flavor are very refreshing and yummy! I highly recommend trying. I couldn't decide which flavor to get so he gave me a half mixture of both combined). They also have a vegan sauce they can substitute for any of the meals that require sauce which is very convenient! We ordered a vegan version of the #2) Mafe Yapp and the 10) Shrimp sandwich! Both were scrumptious but my favorite would have to be the shrimp sandwich because it reminded me a lot of the vietnamese Banh Mi Xiu Mai (especially if you request for their hot sauce) so it was also a very nostalgic experience for me (since I'm pescatarian and can't eat those anymore). We were also lucky to have came at a time where they were not busy because we spent at least 5 minutes just trying out different sauces and things from the menu and chatting before finalizing our order. It felt like a very personalized and wholesome experience and I can't wait to go back and recommend them to all my friends. read more

There are not enough words to describe how good the food is here! It's AMAZING. So amazing, I crave it constantly. The Yassa and Thiou Boulette are my favorites. Absolutely wonderful! It was my first time trying Senegalese food, but it won't be my last. The black-eyed peas with tomatoes and cassava was flavorful and vegan. My husband had the dibi with lamb and he loved it, too. Our daughter enjoyed the onions from that, so that's a win from a toddler! It's a nice little food truck run by very friendly women. Delicious food prepared with obvious love and care! We loved the fataya (meat pies), the mafe yaap (beef and peanut stew), the chicken yassa, and the hibiscus and ginger drinks. The fries here are also super tasty and the dressed green salad is really good -- just eat it quickly before it wilts from the steam from the heat of the rice or meat in the container. read more

DANG, this place ROCKS!!! I had an insanely delicious lunch with my partner. I'm not very familiar with Senegalese food, so this was a great introduction. We got the mafe yapp and the niambi AK ndiebe. We ordered way too much food (the portions are big/dinner sized), but I had no regrets. I wish I lived in PDX so I could come here more often. This place has been on bookmarked for a few months now, we happened to be in the area and needed to eat lunch so we took a ch ace and ordered through Yelp, which was super easy and convenient. We ordered chicken Tasso and their fatayer. Both were really good, they were rich in taste, the one running the food cart was super friendly which is always a plus. They did take long making the food so order ahead but that's ok by me I can tell they made everything fresh to order and the quality was there 100%.
