Number 1 with a side of fish is the way to go. Chicken is tender and flavorful and the onions have a nice creamy curry flavor. Hot sauce is awesome - vinegary and spicy. Fish is crisp - a little hard to eat but good. Get a ginger drink too - pineapple ginger yumminess

Deep fried plantains with spicy turmeric sauce

Tried this place for the first time and really thought the menu looked delicious and savory, but I only tried the plantains because I saw a coworker of mine trying them and I just had to buy some because I had plantains and Indonesian needed to try these deep fried plantains with spicy sauce which were amazingly yummy! I highly recommend ordering them just as they are or as a dessert after your meal the service is great and they're really friendly and always have a smile.

This is one food truck in Portland that I highly recommend! I haven't had much experience eating African food, but their menu is right up my alley so I had to check it out. The people who works here are super down to earth and I just love their vibe. Food was delicious! We got the #1. Yassa with fish ($13.95) and the #12. Fataya: Meat Pies ($8.95). Everything was so flavorful and delicious! It was all made to order so the food came our piping hot. There was so much food for the two of us to share that we had leftovers for another meal. The prices are cheap for what you're getting here! My hubby and I would make Kabba a regular place we'd eat at if we lived in Portland. We took the Tri Met bus to get here and it was super convenient! The bus dropped us off right across the street so it made getting to and leaving here very easy for us (we didn't have a car when traveling in Portland). I highly recommend checking out and I will definitely come back when I visit Portland again.

Got the Yassa chicken and it is sooo good! I was looking for a post gym meal and this was perfect. A lot of protein , veggies and rice. Everything was tasty!

It's been a while since I came back here and am glad that I did. I wanted to try something different this time and opted for the Thiou Boulette, a beef meatballs dish cooked in some tasty sauce. The service is very friendly here. They also have a couple of tables for you to enjoy your meal on the spot.

Amazing food. Best lamb I've ever had. Workers were very nice and friendly. I signed up for yelp to write this

My husband is Senegalese and wanted to try the new Portland cart on our way home to Seattle. This cart is made by and is Senegalese approved as tasting authentic, which matters more than my opinion. We tried a lot on the menu: nems, thiebu yapp, fataya, ginger juice and bissap. All very good and very authentic! The dipping sauces were very flavorful as well. Recommend for first timers to Senegalese food is anything with rice. Jollof is served on weekends and is a staple Senegalese dish (Senegal creates the dish, but arguing over who makes it best is fighting words). The juices are great and not over sugared as well. My only request would be for the business to use paper to go containers instead of styrofoam for environmental reasons. We'll be back!

Grilled fish, lamb, and the best spiced chicken eggrolls

Just walking by this food truck will make your mouth water. That aroma is calling out for you to stop and order something. The chicken eggrolls (nems) are some of the best out there. They really take the time to fry it fresh and get it just right. It's golden, crispy, and has a unique blend of spice. Don't forget to get the tangy dip that goes with it, too. Their special golden rice is heavy on turmeric. If you don't like turmeric, try the lamb with regular rice. It's tender and flavorful, and would be perfect with just a tad less salt.

We had: 1) Yassa with Grilled Tilapia. 5/5. The fish is very well seasoned, deeply grilled and nice and crunchy. The caramelized onions are amazing and complement the fish. The yellow rice is great 6) Lamb Dibi: 3/5. Another very flavorful full dish. I thought the dibi would be like Ethiopian dibs(which is usually thinly shredded), but the cuts of lamb here were more generous. The reason for a 3 is that some portions were tough, just as other reviewers have called out Bissap (Hibiscus) and Ginger drinks - both drinks are great. Tip: This wasn't a fast pickup. I waited for 20 minutes (like everyone else) to get my order. Kabba takes her time to prepare her meals, so I'd suggest you plan for that when you order. But she's a fun person to chat with. Would I return: Very likely

Fataya, Red Rice and Fries

Portland food trucks are plentiful, but Kabba's is one of a kind. The food is full of flavor, fresh and great service. It was cold and rainy during our visit, so we ordered to go. We went for a quick mid day bite (along our food tour lol) and tried the Fataya (meat pies), fries and red rice. The Fataya is similar to an empanada/meat pie. For under $10 we got three with beef and chicken inside a perfectly constructed deep fried pastry shell. The Fataya is flavorful with lots of spice. The pastry shell is truly perfection. Super satisfying crunch and the filling is like no other meat pie I have tried. So let me just say the fries are fire. So crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Kabba's spice is what makes this truly different than your run of mill French fries. We didn't expect much from a side order of fries, but wow. I would highly recommend getting these. The red rice was the only item that I wasn't super in love with, but still well done and flavorful. Great food and super budget friendly. I look forward to visiting Kabba's when in Portland again.

I need second the guy that got the thiiebou yapp. The lamb was good, but the rice was pure deliciousness. Crack-like in a good way.
