This place is seriously a hidden gem in Porterville. I don't get excited when my husband asks to go eat Mediterranean even though I know it's a nutritious option. My husband had been raving about this place and asked for us to go together so i was open to trying it. The two siblings working greeted us and were so welcoming. They offered us lentil soup with our meal which I'm not one to get excited over lentil soup but I would come in here for just that because of how delicious it is. We were told they make it every day and it is seriously so flavorful and yummy. Our plates were equally delicious and full as you can see by the attached photo. I will definitely be back. It was so refreshing to have a nice meal with such excellent service. I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try. read more

My second visit here and I always enjoy my meal. Made to order, so it takes a bit but it's fresh. Everything is always well seasoned, flavorful and cooked to perfection. My only complaint (and this is my personal preference) was the lamb kabob was well done which just made it a bit dry. I prefer medium rare to keep it moist. Excellent hole in-the-wall spot. Came to Porterville because our son was performing for his high school band and did not want the usual fast food options. Wow this place has some of the most delicious hummus we have ever eaten! And their garlic sauce, tasted like a whole garlic was used for flavoring. Excellent, first-class ingredients and everything was made fresh. Totally worth the stop and patronize a local business like this, please stop by and give them a chance. Not good at all ordered shawarma fries and it was made of shredded old chicken skin and was super dry. The potatoes tasted old and were about 22 dollars each order of fries. The service was difficult bad communication skills as both guys appeared frustrated trying to understand what shawarma fries were until the older man got a hint and stated they did serve them but def wish they said no I would of left. This is absolutely some of the best middle eastern food I have ever had. Hands down. I am from the bay area and our car broke down in Porterville, so I did not know what to expect. The food was soooooo flavorful. You could taste the care and love that this kind man put into each dish. We had the combo plate with beef and chicken shawarma. Tatziki plate with pita, and three sweet desserts. The hummus with olive oil was amazing. The tatziki was incredible and had spices that were so well balanced and deep. There was a sweet girl who seemed very new but very sweet. The man who prepared our food put such love and care into all of it. It felt like we were eating in someone's home. On a separate note... many small businesses are really hurting in today's economy. One unnecessary, negative review can hurt a family trying to make a living. Please write reviews with this in mind. Very good. I ordered the kofta kebab to-go. There are several tables inside, but it's more of a takeout restaurant. Forgot to take a photo, but portion sizes were good. I did have a little problem with the rice, which had a spice that was either too hot, or had too much of the spice. The meal came with kofta, rice, grilled vegetables, hummus, pita bread, and salad of chopped lettuce and (I think) tzatziki. Kofta is a ground or minced meat, sometimes a combination of meats, and this was sausage shaped. This plate will be enough for 2 meals for me. Hungry people could probably eat the whole thing. I also ordered baklava for dessert. Can't wait to try it! The chicken and kofta meals are $17.99, but you can get a sandwich for $12.99 or $13.99. read more

I rarely go to a restraunt that charges for staple items. @ KabobLand, You're paying for tzatziki, and garlic sauce. $7 a pop, too. Thats like going to KFC and paying extra for hot sauce. But it was a craving so I coughed it up. Ended paying for $52 to satisfy the craving. I got the kafta kebab plate(they dont do substitutions lol), 8oz of tzatziki, 8oz of garlic sauce, 8oz of hummus, 3 extra sides of pita. This is a long overdue spot in Porterville. Previous Mediterranean fast food restaurants have bombed, and left town. Generally, my approach has been to never get the solid meat kabobs because most restaurants over cook them and if the meat cuts are not done well, they come out like rubber. My favorite has always been the kofta or koobideh kabob where the kabob is made of minced meat, mixed with onions and spices. Here too one can fail if you overcook the kabob. And that is exactly what happened to my kofta kabob plate. The kabob was so dry that it was hard to cut up into small pieces. Furthermore, it was bland and lacked the flavor and texture of a good moist perfectly done kabob. Falafel was good, even though it was slightly dry. It had flavor, taste, good aroma and the outside was nice and crisp (a requirement for falafel). Hummus and dolmades were average. I will be going back for sure, because I think this restaurant has lots of promise. Excellent customer service. read more

I have been waiting for this place to open since they've had their sign up! I ordered 2 chicken kabob plates which me and my GF enjoyed. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor along with the rice. The veggie/spicy salad they include was also pretty good. I just found it odd that their hummus and pita was sub-par. Hummus tasted sour with not much flavor and the pita was like cardboard. I left an awesome review before because Cheyenne worked there and prepared my food perfectly! She has since been let go and I went for a salad and just got lettuce and chicken. Nothing what I paid for and none of the other veggies like in the photo on the wall. I called and got hung up on. Now I have to find another favorite place to eat. Porterville doesn't have much in the way of different foods. I'm so sad! Delicious. Bf wanted to try something new, although I was hesitant, I decided to go with it. The prices startled me but just the smell of it convinced me. Sure enough the taste reassured me of that. We order chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and jalapeño humus. Portions are big, chicken isn't dry and very well seasoned.
