Usually this is our go to spot, lately they've been slacking but today hit the nail on the head and we will never return to this location again. A few weeks back my husband and I ate at this restaurant and he had the chicken kabob and I had the shrimp, mind you we go quite often and haven't had any major issues. My husbands chicken came out pink and squishy (raw) and my shrimp was raw. We did send our food back because it was completely inedible. The next few times we went the food was alright, not bad but not great, (maybe new cooks? Idk) BUT this time (our absolute last time), I ordered the shrimp kabob and my husband ordered the chicken kabob (like usual) and the shrimp was literally rock hard. Couldn't cut through it so really it was bad and had a really strong fishy smell. I said to the lady (the same lady who's there every weekend) that it wasn't right, overcooked and inedible and she had some sort of attitude talking about how it's well done. Now well done and burnt to the point it is inedible are two separate things, I didn't ask for well done, I just asked for it to be cooked and not raw. After some conversation back and forth she brought out a new order, which this time was still a little over cooked but it was edible, so I ate it and we asked for the check. The check came and she charged twice for the shrimp when the first order was not eaten. I mentioned to her and she got extremely nasty and said she didn't have time for this and it is what it is. So I asked to speak to the manager or the owner or who ever was there, and she got even nastier and said no they don't want to talk, and demanded us to just pay the bill. Now it could have gone one of two ways, we could have just walked out and not paid at all, or just sucked it up and paid like we ended up doing. Long story short, we didn't want to make a scene so we just paid the bill, which in my opinion is completely wrong on their end, the customer service was terrible, and the disrespect was totally unnecessary. A place that once was our go to is now a place we will never step foot in again. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

This place is my go-to for delicious lunches to go. Lunch specials include the Kabob Koobideh, Falafel, chicken kabob, and gyro served with salad or rice and a roasted tomato (my fav). My husband and I tried this place and we had a pleasant meal out. Our service was excellent and the food was good. My husband enjoyed his meal a little more than I did because I like a heavier hand with.seasoning. I found our meal a.little bland and healthy tasting but their.hot sauce was nice. We had the chicken kabob meal. My husband really enjoyed the baklava dessert, I was full so.didnt try it but I loved the tea. The one thing which we found especially interesting was the special rices they have. The regular rice is plain but we tried a rice which had tiny sour berries in it which was way more interesting than the regular rice. The restaurant is decorated in a cool modern style. this place has amazing quality in all aspects. for starters the star of the show is the food, the foods delicious , the chicken kabob (which is my favorite) always is juice and perfectly seasoned , the rice is always fluffy and firm all together the ambiance is very family friendly and a good place to have a lunch / dinner w friends and family. the only part i'd say could do some work on is the service at first i would've given it 5 stars all around, but i've noticed that there is a young girl that works there that tends to be a little biased in the people she waitresses. whenever me and my friends (we are hispanic / white) come in she'll get our order and will be the end of that , but i've noticed that when others of the same ethnicity as her come in she will be a lot friendlier and a lot more attentive , continuously asking if they need anything and my friend pointed it out w few times to the rest of us until i started to finally realize it wasn't just a coincidence. i don't want to take away tho as the food is absolutely amazing and my friends and i don't mind it enough to not continue coming here but it would be the only little tweak i'd fix to make this a 5/5 read more

Kabob On the Cliff was a great addition to my stay in New Jersey. My coworker/roommate is from the area and is Iranian, so I trusted her completely when she suggested this place. If there's anything you need to know about me, I love any and all food that is along the lines of Greek, Mediterranean, Persian, etc. Right after we placed our order our waitress brought us some warm bread and butter. I ordered the chicken breast kabob and my friend got the koobideh. My plate was served with half rice and shirazi salad (cucumber and tomato salad). Our meals came out quick and everything was so flavorful, tender and juicy. If you check in on Yelp they will give you a free piece of baklava and a cup of tea. I'm usually not a big baklava fan, but this baklava was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't crumble the second you bit in. There was a lovely bite of pistachio as well which made it that much better. I'm not sure what kind of tea we were served, but it was nice and hot, exactly what I needed after a filling meal. Kabab on the cliff is one of my favorite spots. This restaurant has 3 locations one in Rutherford,Cliffside Park and also Ridgewood. I recommend getting the chicken soltani and the koobideh which is the freshest and tastiest meats around. They have amazing and friendly service but gets really busy. Parking can suck bc it's street parking Food is a little pricey but portions are big and quality is worth it read more

Staying in the area because of work, my co-worker took me to this spot that he been to a few times. He was super excited to introduce me to Persian food. Got the Lamb on Persian style rice, the food tasted really fresh and light in a good way. Check-in gets an order of free after meal tea and dessert. It was a bit sweet but can't complain. We traveled an hour to try the newest Kabob on the Cliff in Rutherford. I thought it was very good. It's a BYO; so make sure to hit the liquor store (in walking distance). My spelling of some of our dishes will be poor; bear with me. We started with kashkeh bodum jun (an eggplant topping), Ghormeh Sabzi (Persian green stew) over tadigh, and mastokhiar (yogurt with cukes and dill). For dinner, the table ordered kabob soltani (beef and filet), lamb shank with baghali polo (dill rice w Lima beans), and gheimeh (a tasty stew), and torshi (pickled stuff). We often eat Persian food, whether at home or at a restaurant. I'll have to say, the food is really good, although not totally like homemade. The filet kabobs were so, so tender and flavorful, especially with a little sumac; the gheimeh was really good; my lamb shank was well-prepared and fall off the bone. First time having Persian food but I absolutely love Mediterranean and middle eastern food. We ordered takeout: a stew, an appetizer trio (we picked hummus, olovieh salad, and kashke bademjan), falafel and torshi (I wanted to try so many things). The lady who took our order was kind and patient and even threw in the torshi for free. The reason for 3 stars is because of their high prices/small quantities! It seemed like they cheaped out when it came to the portions compared to other restaurants. When we got home, we were surprised to unpack only one pita bread cut in half... We ordered so many appetizers and an entree, so I would've expected at least 2. The food was actually quite tasty, but we were pretty disappointed in how expensive it was for what we ended up getting and would've expected to have some leftovers for that price.
