The food is great, the problem is they're so weird about giving you extra teriyaki sauce. It's like you're asking them for their first born child. They need to relax, it's gonna be ok, or make it clear that you want to charge for extra sauce. I order from here all the time, my favorite is the dragon bowl, and I usually am fine with one teriyaki sauce. The other day I ordered the dragon plate that comes with a salad and it's a little bigger so I wanted an extra spicy teriyaki and the older lady " oh noooo" and started taking away my original sauces. I had to stop her and then say just give me one spicy and swap it out. geeez, I literally had ordered lunch earlier that day from there and then was picking up a plate for my sister and her daughter for dinner. Solid 4.5 stars for this little place. Located in the strip mall between Hampton Inn & Boeing. Not sure what happened to previous reviews. It's our 4th (?) visit. MIL had "Dragon Box", a chicken teri & beef teri combo meal. This included a small salad, rice & steamed broccoli, cabbage & carrots. Good value at $14.50. Chicken breast was nicely grilled & the beef teri thinly sliced with good flavor. Old Japanese grandma loved it. Teriyaki on the side if you'd like to top the chicken. Spring lettuce mix with carrot ginger dressing was delish. Steamed veggies served plain without seasoning. Veggies perfectly steamed not mushy. Gyoza had great flavor. Appeared deep fried. Eating small cuz hubby and I eating out for dinner. Had the spicy tuna roll. This was really good! Minced tuna was fresh and flavorful. Arrived around 12 noon with no tables available. A pair of young men gave up their seat for the lady with a walker. Claimed they were waiting for a to-go order. Very kind of them. This place is great. The food is really clean and fresh here! The only caveat is they close kind of early. I guess it makes sense since they're pretty much mostly a quick meal that has somewhat healthier ingredients. I got a shrimp tempura and the chicken. I would probably pass on the temporary next time and get a different protein. For some reason I was craving the crunch. Services quick and easy the place is spacious and located in a unassuming lot. I imagine they probably get a lot of crowds during the lunch. I'm not gonna lie and say that I wasn't nervous about going here because there was nobody in the parking lot. And when I walked in, there was only two guys eating in there. So I was extremely nervous. Well, don't judge a book by its cover this place is amazing. The fact that this place is not jampacked with a bunch of customers confuses me beyond confuses me. It's great food. It's super fresh and delicious. I'd show you a picture of what I got, but unfortunately, I scarfed it down and didn't take a picture of it. I normally go to the Subway next door and park on the other side, however that side was full and when I turned the corner to more parking spaces, I had no idea they added more restaurants, so today it's all about Kabuto Sushi and Grill I ordered the side of Miso Soup and the Shrimp Tempura Box. Let me tell you something, I didn't go in with any expectations, but the meal is priced fairly, and the service was great, after you place your order, they give you your receipt with your order #, they use that receipt to deliver your food to your table if you are dining in, which I was, I love that The Miso Soup was excellent, the Salad was excellent, the Rice was excellent, and the Shrimp Tempura was excellent, the food was flavorful and fresh, I was extremely happy about the meal, the only thing I didn't like was the steamed vegetables, there was no taste, like no seasoning or butter no salt or pepper to add to it, but everything else, just amazing If your in the area, please support them, you'll enjoy your meal and the service, I'm going back tomorrow to try something else on the menu. I was happy to hear that Chef Ikeda had opened a new restaurant! I had the Dragon Box and it was delicious! The beef was flavorful and the chicken was tender with the sauce on the side. Kabuto is such a hidden gem in Seal Beach, and I secretly want to gatekeep this spot! Located near a small center, Kabuto serves teriyaki bowls, rolls, and other sides at a decent price! Every time I get their dragon bowl with beef, chicken, and rice! It's a simple bowl with fresh and clean ingredients. They also advertise themselves as a gluten-free business! Their crunchy roll and nigiri are great, too! The fish tasted fresh, and overall, I have no complaints. This place reminds me of those awesome teriyaki joints from the 80s and 90s. We got the beef/chicken combo plate and the sushi roll plate. The teriyaki had that char grilled flavor and the quality of meat was excellent. The sushi rolls had a great fish to rice ratio and was made very well. 5 Star food! I try not to give 5 stars but this place deserves it. Located near the corner of Seal Beach Blvd and Westminister Blvd, this restaurant is located next to Subway. They serve teriyaki bowls as well as sushi. I've been to other teriyaki places and always skeptical on the sushi at these places. I tried their sashimi bowl and their spicy tuna bowl. They are delicious! The fish are fresh, the rice is very good and isn't the bad quality rice at most places, and I got their beef bowl couple times as well and it's very good. You cannot go wrong with any of the food here. I came here around 3:30pm on a weekday when it was empty. I overheard the cashier lady talk Japanese to the chef. I told her that I speak japanese as well and we chatted for a bit. She mentioned that the chef is her husband and I thought it was really nice to see a couple running a restaurant. They are super friendly. On the side note, when you dine-in, the lady delivers your food to your table which is really nice service. They remember your face and brings it to you. What I personally like to see is maybe if they had sriracha for the teriyaki bowls, that would be great! Recommend the food here, came here 3 times this week! read more

Walked into Kabuto (for a late lunch) on a slow Wednesday afternoon after losing track of time (it was almost 3pm) and was welcomed to the restaurant warmly nonetheless! The reviews aren't kidding about the staff, and especially the apparent owner, who takes time to train, teach, and get to know their employees -- and I was able to gage this only through the 30-minute window in which I had the spacious dining room all to myself! Ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and paired it with a Tiger Roll -- shrimp tempura IN + salmon/albacore OUT. Although this was a house specialty roll, I would not recommend -- the fish tasted good but was room temperature which was a bit unsettling. No complaints about the CTB. You are probably looking at the reviews for Kabuto and thinking there is no way it lives up to 5 stars....but here I am proving you wrong. Kabuto is legit. They are friendly (not just a little friendly, ALL the friendly), the place is clean (SUPER clean), the food is delicious and fresh AND it's affordable. Kabuto is basically what Yelp means when they have 5 stars. My go to order is a Dragon Bowl with 1/2 brown rice, 1/2 vegetables and a crunchy roll.....ok and garlic edamame. Don't judge me. Mr. R. loves their spicy tuna roll and yellowtail jalapeño. They do a lot of take out orders here, so call with at least 20-30 minutes lead time. My standard for good, fresh sushi is set by Tsukiji fish market in Japan and the Fulton Fish market in the Bronx. When I lived in the upper east side of Manhattan, the sushi place I would frequent would close by 2pm because the owner would go to the Fulton Fish market at 3am every morning to pick out his catch of the day. Happy to report I found a place nearby that meets and exceeds my standards! Just fresh fish and perfectly done rice with sushi vinegar that's neither too clumpy nor dry. Prices reasonable and great variety. The only difference is the fish I'm used to getting has more of that "fishy" taste and this has more of a buttery taste that appeals to a broader range of palates. I shall return often! read more

An overall 5 star rating is GREAT and I'm happy for you, however, with 5 being perfection... all I have to input is the portion size here is rather small, in comparison to other teriyaki places. The taste is a 4. The meat is consistently tasty and moist, but for ~$14, other comparable places give more. I've also found at times, the pieces of meat (beef or chicken) look like leftover pieces, so the presentation (to me) isn't all that great. Picky, maybe, but just comparing it dollar for dollar. The service is friendly and I usually call ahead and my order is usually ready within a few minutes, so driving by and running in is convenient. read more
