I love this place. I often order to go from here... but I finally got to sit inside this time. The deco is nice inside. Wood and bronze/gold throughout.. nice, calm, Thai feeling. Everyone is pleasant, attentive and nice. The atmosphere is relaxed. Would be great spot for an intimate date or quality time, as it is not loud. I have always loved their Pad Thai and my little man loves their eggrolls. Thai Tea is delicious. The rice, white or other, is always fresh and perfect. I do recommend you ALWAYS get their garlic fried rice. Sounds plain- but trust me- you won't regret it! Ask my adult kids- they always want it! I have tried several of their food items. My older son loves their orange chicken- it is not what one would consider a traditional orange chicken... it's more like tempura chicken with a nice glaze. Much lighter and fluffier than what you're used to. But it's gooood. I love their eggplant. I almost always get their dumpling curry- it's a spicy green curry with chicken dumplings in it... great with white rice. I've been on a mission to try Khao Soi, the creamy coconut curry noodle soup from Northern Thailand, and Yelp pointed me to this spot as one of the top choices. We came on a Sunday around noon and had no problem parking in the lot right in front of the restaurant. It was pretty quiet--only one other table was occupied--which made the experience feel relaxed and unhurried. The ambiance was surprisingly nice, almost spa-like, with cool air, calming music, and a big screen playing beautiful scenes of Thailand. Service was friendly and welcoming. The server let me know that their Khao Soi doesn't include the crispy noodles that usually come with the traditional version, but honestly, the flavor was still on point. The curry was rich, creamy, and well-balanced without being too heavy. We also came during happy hour and ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer. Seal Beach definitely has less Asian cuisine compared to neighboring cities. I'm so glad that this Thai restaurant is serving some great Thai, Asian, and fusion dishes. Conveniently located near Main Street in Seal Beach but far enough away to 1) avoid traffic and 2) have free parking! Just off of PCH and 5th. The ambiance in this place is fairly nice and is a good place to meet friends and family. Arriving at 6pm we were seated immediately with just two other tables filled. By 6:30 the place was nearly at capacity! The menu has a lot of variety and I was delighted to see Pumpkin Curry and Pineapple Curry which one doesn't see often enough; however, I opted not to try these. Next time. I ordered the Stirfry Eggplant with Soft Tofu (also a big plus that this protein is listed separately from just regular Tofu which is often fried). The dish had a nice tangy sauce and comes with your choice of rice(s). It was not greasy. Could have been spicier but I did not request the spice tray so no complaints about that. My friend ordered an entree of Glass Noodles with Scallops and Shrimp. This was disappointing as it was too dry and the seafood pieces small. Perhaps this is standard. I'd opt out on this dish. We had an eventful day in Seal Beach and decided to stop by here for lunch. Parking: Free parking lot. They're located in a small plaza, so parking can be a bit tricky. We got lucky with parking in front of the restaurant. Ambiance/Environment: Really nice and clean inside! Great for large groups. They have a small bar in the back left corner. We came in around @12:30, and noticed it started getting busy in the late afternoon. You can do a walk up or make reservations online. Service: Shout out to our server Jeremy! Not only was he waiting tables by himself, but he also took great care of us! Very courteous and efficient. Throughput was approximately 15 min for our orders. What we ordered: 1) Royal Thai Appetizer (lunch special), Sake Paloma, Sake Moscow Mule - This royal appetizer came in a 3 tier stand filled with all Thai classics such as egg rolls, chicken skewers, cheese puffs, coconut shrimps, fried dumplings, Thai money bags, and shrimp wrappers. All the sauces came on top. My favorite was the peanut sauce. Everything was cooked well and absolutely delicious! We decided to go with the 2 cocktails. The Moscow mule was strong, and the Paloma was sweet & fruity. 2) Seal Beach Noodles - stir fry yakisoba noodles with shrimp, chicken, onions, dry chili, cashew nuts, & water chestnuts in their special house sauce. The noodles had a lot of flavor and wasn't too salty. The chicken and shrimp were also cooked well, though I wish it had more of it. 3) Mongolian Beef with Jasmine brown rice (lunch special) - Mongolian beef was mouth watering! The jasmine brown rice wasn't too sticky. The dressing on the salad really pulled the flavors together. This also came with a small soup and crispy wonton; both had a plain taste but made the entire dish fulfilling. 4) Mango Lemonade & Thai Tea Lemonade - These were so refreshing! We loved both our drinks! Pricing: It is a bit on the pricier end. Can't blame them for operating in this inflation. This was our second visit to Rocharin. We liked it the first time around. We loved it the second. Upon entering we were promptly seated. The server even remembered us from our first visit. I was very impressed by that feat. She even remembered what my wife ordered. She could not recall me ordering the Red Curry. The restaurant was warm. Outside it was cold and foggy, so we really enjoyed the warm, welcoming interior of the restaurant. Now for today's ordering. Once again my wife ordered Pad Thai with pork. That woman does love her Pad Thai. She reported that it was very good! Me, while being tempted to go for the curry, I did not surcome to the urge. Instead, I ordered the Fried Branzino (Bass). The Branzino was terrific! It came with a small salad, rice and vegetables. All were prepared well. We'll be going back. This restaurant has earned my respect. This place is in a cute little center, there's a parking lot as well as street parking! When you enter in, you see the entryway decorated with flowers and other decorations. It's a welcoming site to see. Staff is welcoming and they're very friendly throughout all of service! They have Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 5-6pm, and then on Saturday & Sunday from 12-6pm! Highly recommend it! The food is worth it and the drinks are amazing! What we ordered: Royal Thai Happy Hour - Consists of Crispy Spring Rolls, Cheese Puff, Grilled Dumplings, Coconut Shrimp, Tofu Delight, Shu Mai, Chicken Satay, and Golden Bags. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you go inside, it was so beautiful and honestly really looked more like a date spot for sure. I wanted to try different stuff besides the usual pad thai so we got Crab fried rice and it was the most amazing fried rice. The scrambled egg enveloped the mountain of rice which made for an awesome and unique presentation. We had to get the platter because I always love me a sampler platter. And the presentation was beautiful as well. Another unique find was the Treasure pot. As soon as I saw scallops and shrimps in the dish, I had to have it and it really was delicious. For drinks we got the Mango Lemonade and I thought it would be too sweet but it was perfect. It was the perfect blend and i was trying not to drink it all at once so I can savor it. THE BEST CHICKEN KHOA SOI EVER MADE IN LA/OC AREA. You'd think that Thai restaurants are making Khoa Soi on the regular, but you'd be surprised that a lot of them do not. LA restaurants aren't making it with chicken at all.. This soup tastes SO good in hot or cold weather and will make you feel cozy and warm from perfectly made curry broth and egg noodle. I like to squeeze some of the lime juice on it as well to add that little acidity to it. I travel from LA just to get this soup. Service is fast and super welcoming and you keep on wanting to come back. Sticky mango rice is so yummy and as well as their other dishes that everyone should try. Nice restaurant. Came here for lunch with coworkers. They were able to seat 11 people for us. We had the choice of the lunch special which was about $12-$13 or order from the regular menu. The portion for lunch special is a bit smaller but comes with other items. I ordered the spicy fried rice with pork. The waitress asked me how spicy and i said very spicy. I can handle really spicy food and it was quite spicy. I was able to finish it all no problem. It's really spicy compared to other restaurants that have spicy items in their menu. My coworker ordered coke and it came in a really tall glass but looked like majority of it was ice. interior was nice, they have christmas tree decor and other decors around the place. Their utensils were gold color which is nice. Their paper napkin is very thick and have their logo on it which is a huge plus. They have a relatively large parking lot but I assume it gets really packed during peak hours since this restaurant shares space with other businesses nearby. read more
