I'll make this how I like my chais, quick and dirty: PROS: Best coffee in East County Viennese is amazing Lavender syrup is amazing Seasonal brown sugar syrup is amazing Macadamia milk option - creamy and delicious Friendliest baristas in town Drive through option CONS: Food is mediocre at best (I'm looking at you, "scones" ) Coffee is the best in EC but not the best in San Diego (aka don't take a trip out to the boondocks just for this) Sometimes really slow Kinda expensive A couple notes: the drive thru is assesible from eastbound Old Hwy 80 (and puts you out onto Aurora street). Sometimes difficult to turn into it if you're going westbound. There is some parking on both of these streets but not a whole lot (no pun intended). read more

Cute little coffee place. There is also an antique place inside you could check out if they are open. You could sit out in their patio which I prefer or inside where it's not as quiet. I like that this place is never packed and mostly the locals in the area are who keeps them busy. If you order coffee to dine in then they serve it in these huge mugs. Their breakfast sandwiches are good, coffee is good and staff is friendly. We like to come here if we don't want to be around the crowds that are at the more popular coffee places. read more

Gosh , I really miss living in Lakeside . This place was my "Starbucks" and using Starbucks is just an insult to the shop. But it was my go to . I would come up everyday and then make my way to El Cajon . The selection is fantastic...I mean what coffee shop in east county carries and offers macadamia milk as a dairy substitute?! Whaaaaaaaaaa? I like macadamia cookies, I must like the milk . (Hehehe) Service is well, pretty awesome . I mean everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, sometimes the knowledge they possess is so strong that they assume they gave you a pump of sugar free hazelnut in your iced coffee with macadamia milk -but they didn't . I like this place. It's very quaint and country. It has a unique lay out. It's an antique shop surrounding a coffee and pastry shop and a large outdoor sitting area in the center. The outside looks like a barn. The coffee shop has a convenient drive thru but you can also dine inside. The antique store is The Local Mercantile but is all combined with the KaffeeMeister shop. It feels like one big homey place. There is not another place like it. Lattes, espressos, teas, muffins etc. Simple. read more

Cute as the Dickens, with fantastic lattes! Homey, cute, surrounded by the antiques spilling over from the store it's attached to. The garden is adorable and made for a perfect shady writing spot at one of their wooden tables. Seems to be a gathering place for local Christians. There was a steady stream of people that were pastors, carrying Bibles, praying together, etc. But as a non-believer I never felt uncomfortable; though they all chatted together, no one bothered me since I was clearly keeping to myself, and they seemed respectful of that. VERY DISAPPOINTED. SO EXPENSIVE!!!!! This place is normally overpriced. I get a 16oz mocha with soy milk and they charge $6.10 (starbucks charges $5.25) This morning I go and she tells me my price is $6.75!!!!! $6.75!!!!!! What?! Why?! She tells me due to minimum wage increase. Price goes up .65 cents! Thats beyond crazy for a mocha. Very bummed because i love their coffee, but theres no way I'm going to pay $6.75. My husband and I moved to the area and were trying to check out the local establishments. The place is kitschy and has a hard to find drive through. We went inside and it's like an antique store. The lady behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us and kept talking to the lady that was gossiping with her. We wandered through the shop and found the coffee shop area towards the back, the kid behind the counter also didn't acknowledge us...we were starting to take it personally. We finally asked him for some coffee and he just flatly told us that they just closed...no apology, no customer service. Won't be coming back here but I don't think they care. read more

In my opinion, one the top 3 lattes I have ever had. Absolutely PERFECT velvety foam. Good foam folks... is rare. It has to be made with love. I know because I have managed a couple shops in Frisco and San Diego... so I know it can be done, but it has to be done by someone who cares. The espresso used was rich, smoky, elegant. Not burnt. The croissant possessed an infinite number of layers, each one translucent and light. A buttery decadent treat, and appropriately sized, about the size of a deck of cards. I would rather have one small perfect croissant than a huge American size piece of bread that someone shaped into a croissant like pattern. Went back later to get my daughter a French Kiss (Italian soda with splash of cream) and she gave it a big thumbs up. Blackberry Vanilla. The bagels are amazing...The only issue I have is they seem to not know how to put cream cheese on a bagel. 98% of the time they come out looking like this. This place is far superior to Starbucks and other coffee shops. They use high quality coffee, teas, etc. at this place and you can really tell the difference. The blended coffees can be adjusted to your taste. You want it sweeter, more milk no problem. The shop is very cozy and intimate. Its located in the back of the Local Mercantile which is a craft and gift shop with unbelievable selection. The coffee shop also has great hot oatmeal and pastries in the morning to go with your coffee or tea. This is by far the best coffee shop in ElCajon in fact in all of San Diego County. Friendly hometown customer service. The social atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Every patron I came across was friendly and enjoyed sharing a friendly conversation. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do like a good cup of tea and that they have. I also had a bowl of their homemade oatmeal which was delicious! I thought I'd steer away from the big name coffee spots and support local. I ordered a 16oz vanilla latte. When I got to the window the girl tells me my total which is more than what the menu indicates. I tell her and she says oh it's bc we add the syrup. I tell her the menu says vanilla latte with the price. She proceeds to tell me I'm wrong i tell her I'm. It and pay anyway. long story short their menu price is not accurate. Apparently I paid 10 cents more than what is indicated for a large vanilla latte on their menu. Charge what you want but be transparent about price on the menu. read more
