Stayed here for a week with my boyfriend and it was a completely stay. The room had a mini kitchenette and there are laundry machines on-site. We appreciated having a pool as well as hot tub on premise. The location was ideal as it was right in front of a beach and there were beach chairs for the hotel guests. The front desk closed at certain times during the day but the sister resort Sands of Kahana is able to assist. Parking is included and they give you a permit to hang. read more

It's so hard to describe such a perfect vacation spot, especially one that checks all the boxes like Kahana Beach Resort. For over 20 years I've been coming to this exact place, and let me tell you why.... You will rarely find any resorts that are 99% water facing with the exception of a few rooms on the side that you can still see the water from. One thing I notice with huge resorts in high tourist areas is it's not centered for your view it's centered for how many people they can fit. Not the case with this place as you can see the beautiful sunsets you're constantly barraged with every day from my video and photo below. The staff are all extremely friendly and will take the time out of their work routine to talk or greet you, there's an on location pool which, yes, can be overshadowed by the beautiful Maui waters another 15 feet behind it... there's shaded lounge chairs, the rooms come with kitchenettes and a fridge and freezer so make sure to stock up at Costco, and they all have air conditioning. Finally picks up finally but says "Welcome, I need to put you on hold" 15 minutes on hold, cell phone battery in the red. Finally comes back on, asks for info as I provide it I'm disconnected! Meanwhile travel companions are being helped and hand me their phone. Given code to lock box with an envelope. 1key, that's all. No wifi code, parking info, nothing. A single key. I landed at 3 stars because you get what you pay for. It's cheaper than the surrounding hotels/resorts, so if you're looking for a budget stay, this is a good option. It also has spectacular ocean views from most of the rooms and includes a small kitchen with extensive cook ware and small appliances (toaster, blender, crock pot) to prepare meals and further travel to Maui on a budget. A couple of things to note. Our door from the balcony to the room had a broken lock. As we were staying in the 2nd floor, I did have some concern for our safety. We ended up using a broomstick to barricade the door each night for peace of mind. The beds are also rock hard. We are still in our 20s and woke up with a sore neck and back, so if you are older or have back issues- beware. They also do not offer daily room cleaning/tidying. If you need new towels or supplies you need to go to concierge. Check out included taking out your own trash to the bin etc. Overall, this a good option if you're looking to do Maui on a tighter budget. It's early January 2024 and Kahana Beach Resort is now open. Rooms are being "refreshed." I'm not sure how much longer it will go on. My room refresh just finished and now they're working next door, but the noise hasn't been bad. I only heard footsteps upstairs briefly each morning. I heard doors closing and other noise from the hallway. The property is off of the old highway, so there isn't much street noise. I am in a studio. The doors are light and this is an issue when there are wind gusts. The doors rattle loudly and it sounds like someone is jiggling the handle and banging against the door to get in. The first night I was here there were lots of winds gusts and the loud rattling of the door repeatedly kept me from falling asleep. Gone are the Murphy beds; now there are regular queen beds. The mattress is firm but there's some give. There's still a pull-out couch; it's comfortable to sit on, but I didn't try sleeping on it. There are plenty of pillows, bedding, dish towels, and bath towels. All the basics are provided (pots, pans, dishes, utensils, dish soap, iron, etc., etc.). There is laundry on certain floors and they provide detergent. The machines accept coins, which you can get at the front desk. Please note: The machines have WashConnect stickers, but WashConnect does not work here. I contacted the company and they said that Kahana Beach Resort is not one of their accounts. All rooms have a lanai with tables and chairs. My room was in the corner on the mauka (mountain) side, which was fine with me, but I could see the ocean from the lanai. And the beach is literally right behind the building. There's a pool and hot tub, plenty of lounge chairs, two BBQs, and some tables and chairs by the grills. Parking is in front. There is a ramp right next to the five stairs in front. I never turned on the A/C or heat; I opened the lanai door when it was warm and put another blanket on at night when it was cold. There's a large flat-screen TV that seems to have tons of channels, but it really doesn't. There are no premium channels. But I found two Korean channels and one Japanese channel I watch a lot at home, so I was happy. BTW, there's a lag when you press any button on the remote; give it a few seconds before giving up. Theoretically the cable should always be on and you only need to turn the TV on and off (so said the instructions), but I always had to turn on the cable box. While there is plenty of room for two bathrooms sinks, there is only one. Personally I don't think this was a good move, but it saved money, and provided me with ample counter space to put out my things. Tons of mirrors; you can see your front and back, whether you want to or not. The large closet is behind the sink. (There's also a dresser below the TV.) The toilet and walk-in shower are in a separate, tiny, poorly-designed room. It's good because one person can be in there while someone is out at the sink. But you must close the bathroom door, even if it's just you there. The TP holder sticks out from an awkward spot behind the door. The walk-in shower does have a low barrier you must step over. There a cool rock design on the floor of the shower. There's a rainfall shower head and a smaller detachable shower head with a hose. Both have multiple settings. And they provide a non-skid shower mat! Hooray! I didn't have to use mine. Most places don't have these anymore and they should, for safety reasons. There's a dining table with four chairs in front of the couch. But, IMHO, with the removal of the Murphy bed, they should have moved things around so it makes more sense since the bed is always there now. As it is now, one edge of the bed is less than four feet from where you will be cooking your eggs or stir-frying your vegetables. The current arrangement also wastes space. The couch could go to the right of where it is now, the bed goes where the couch is, and the dining table goes where the bed was. That makes sense because then the table is next to the kitchenette and the bed is farther away from the stovetop, which is better for safety reasons. The bamboo "curtains" do a pretty good job of blocking out light. The kitchenette has an apartment-size fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and two burners. (No oven. My understanding is there are ovens in larger units.) There's no housekeeping service here. You take out your own trash and replace the bag. You drop off you dirty towels and sheets and then pull out new ones yourself from the cupboards and cabinets. read more

TLDR; This is not a resort has a 50m by 25m pool backyard style hot tub and limited beach front. This is a great place to stay if you just need a place to sleep and expect to be out exploring all day. Located on the beach and near shops and food options. More effort is definitely put into the sister location next door at the Sands of Kahana. ROOM I stayed in a studio with one bed and one pull out couch. Both were comfortable for me and my party. Room had a nice view of the beach from our lanai. Mini kitchen was convenient. There was lots of seating options for us to choose from. Bathroom is a bit small with many doors and walls close to each other making maneuvering hard. HOTEL There's not much to the hotel. Room cleaning fees are pricey around $27 and couldn't find employees around to replace towels or toilet paper. There's essentially no lobby. There are two desks with employees working one for hotel and one for activities. They're right next to each other in a cramped area. The desk closes early pretty early. The staffing areas seem dissatisfying to work in so hopefully staff are valued by management. We only interacted with one employee during check in and she was very helpful and kind to us. LOCATION Located on a disappearing beach which is unfortunate but we did what we could to enjoy what was there. Very minimal parking. Located near general stores, rental shops, cafes, restaurants , and a gas station. AMENITIES This is where Kahana Beach loses it ability to call itself a resort. There was a "backyard" hot tub which was barely operational. The pool was very disappointing . Probably the worst pool area Ive ever seen staying at hotels. There is no food or drink options. There is no usable items for beach use. Nothing good for lounging by the beach or pool . Access to the hot tub, pool, is subject to when staff decides to lock and unlock gates and there is little to no lighting.There are not even towels easily available for guests only through requests at the front desk. We were prepared for this but the couple of things that you may want to know is that, One: the beds are firm, very firm...if that is not what you like, beware. Two: the pillows they supply are firm...see above (we ran to Ross stores and bought pillows because we could not wake up with a stiff neck after the first night). Moving on... The lobby area is almost like a bus stop. Really plain, and right as you go to the elevator, there are large towel return bins that are just always there. The bathroom does not have an exhaust fan...weird if you know what I mean and the door to the bathroom makes you decide if you want your whole body to go in or just part of your body..in otherwords, it's tight. I wish someone would turn the light fixtures on the bathroom mirror the other way, so they are not glaring at you as you look into the mirror. Parking is a headache. Good stuff. The people were all very nice and if you needed anything they will help you. The views from the room over look the ocean...great views...especially for sunset but there are some rooms, not many that do not have this view so call before you go and ask for an Ocean view room. There are a couple of places to eat close by, within walking distance. The food at these places is OK...Dollie's and Miso Phat.... If you're looking for a spectacular view of the Maui Channel and the 3 islands surrounding it then look at this resort. That's the good part. Let's talk about the negatives: 1. How do you have sliding glass doors with no sliding screen doors? This resort does. So if you want fresh air, you leave the slider open and let the birds and bugs in. 2. Their TV system is a joke. It works then it doesn't. The same with the internet which is tied to the TV or maybe it's the way around. 3. Front desk is only open 9am-6pm. Need something outside those hour? Maybe the answering service will pick up. 4. The rooms have no ovens btw plus a cute 2 burner cook top. 5. The studio units do not have washer/dryers. There are 3 of the 12 floors with a room with those. No one is checking that they work. Plus the rust on them tells you there is no ongoing maintenance. So buyer beware as the saying goes. Property is in a beautiful location . Just a few steps from the beach . We had a room on the side So a 301-401 etc . Even our room had a nice view of the ocean and beach . I think this might even be a better room as it is sheltered from the breeze or wind depending . Room was clean and plenty of room . Did not use the pool but spent some time on the lounge chairs between the pool and the Hot tub. Not the largest of either . Ok for those of us that enjoy a hot tub / This was far from hot any of the days we were there . 92/ 94 seemed to be the temp and the controls are locked so there is no was to adjust the temp . Even after repeated requests to have it turned up - and watching other guests ask security to turn it up , the requests went unanswered . As an owner with 20+ years at the Kahana Beach Resort (KBR), I am extremely disappointed with the lack of leadership and poor customer service. Sheila, Concierge Manager at the KBR, provided the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced from a concierge. Sheila does not have the "Aloha Spirit" or customer service skills necessary to interact with guests. Sheila's attitude reflects poorly on her profession, the KBR, and the entire Soleil team. I seriously can't believe they would put us in a condo that has no lanai. There is scaffolding all up and down the building. I'm getting claustrophobic just being in room. No place to store clothes. No hangers... I have one more week in Hawaii. No pool, no beach. The drapes are so old and musty. The chairs are moldy. Just so dated. Unsure why the reviews are so harsh. We loved our stay here! Everything was clean and even our studio was super spacious. We had a balcony that faced the beach - beautiful views all day everyday. The beach wasn't great for snorkeling but perfect for swimming and was a beautiful teal color. I didn't use the pool but used the hot tub daily - it was a bit cold the first night but it looks like they cranked up the heat afterwards. The only complaint we had was having to sleep in a Murphy bed which wasn't the most comfortable but we still slept well. The dining table, sofa, and mini kitchen were very useful. read more

We solely came here for the beach. It was our last stop to watch the sunset. It was a small beach with a long narrow stretch of sand alongside the water. There were some people lounging, bbqing, even fishing!!! Some joggers, some families, some people like us trying to catch the sunset too. Ayeee! Booked this place through a Hawaiian Airlines package deal, and I must say... this place was not bad at all. It wasn't hostel cheap, but it wasn't very luxurious... it was as Goldilocks would say "juuuuust right"! Parking and WiFi are included! Front desk was very nice and polite. We booked a studio that had a small kitchenette and plenty of room to spare with dining table, sofa with a TV and a murphy bed! The kitchenette comes with all the essentials - sink, stove top, fridge, dining set, cookware, eating utensils, ice trays, dish rack, etc. And yes, they have a coffee maker with coffee. The lanai was very spacious, and I'm almost pretty sure (from the angle of the hotel) - that all rooms have some sort of ocean view. SCORE! The hotel has a pool and hot tub on the makai side so it has nice views even when you decide not to swim in salt. Literally, the only downsides were... the room was probably not sealed as well so the carpet and everything felt damp which was not a good feeling... We didn't mind that so much because we didn't really come across mold (not that we were looking). Also - everything was fairly "clean" - like on a scale of Poor to Excellent [Poor - Fair - Average - Very Good - Excellent], it was Fair. I really wouldn't mind staying here again. Positive WIFI included Negatives..many A 12 story complex with 7 units on each floor. Units ending in 07 & 06 are south side and have Lanai doors locked & blocked with plywood and scaffolding during column repairs!! No view & Noise! Pool is closed and part of 1st floor viewing deck is closed! Makes beach access more difficult. Studios have a Very uncomfortable mattress and creaky. Ours in unit 1202 had a smelly matress pad and they sprayed bathroom floor and kitchen floor and part of matress pad when we asked for a replacement?!?! They were still putting people in units with no lanais and blocked views with no compensation! Many people were irate when checked in. Sofa was very uncomfortable for sleeping as we had problems with Murphy bed. Furniture is in need of replacement. Very difficult to get into and out of hottub..no handrails to assist! Parking is not sufficient for building & you may need to park at neighboring complex. Beach grill next door seemed to have watered down drinks..order a beer. Wow!! All I can say only pick this place if you really can't find another place to stay. There is nothing exciting in this Resort. No bar, no main lobby, etc. if you want to go to the bar you have to go to the resort over one. If you want to use a weight room you have to go to a different resort and pay $10 to use. If you want to join in for the burger night you have to go to the resort next to this resort. You don't have access to come down in the am to sit in any lounge chairs or go to the beach if you want to get up early to walk the beach or the sunrise. The gates are locked. Nobody is there 24/7 if you arrive late. The electricity in the hotel went out for 15 min for some reason and there was no storm. You can only get towels and service once for the week you are there any other time you have to pay for. The bed pulls out of the wall. It wasn't the comfiest. They advertise free breakfast on their website, which false advertising. That wasn't free breakfast each day. You got tickets to hear a speak of activities you can do in Maui to purchase by the concierge and only serves like muffins and donuts kind of thing. That is the only time. I mentioned to the front desk how I felt this was false advertising as it mentions on the website it was free breakfast and she pointed the finger saying that was the concierge doing. So went to them and pointed the finger to the hotel. Personally if it is listed on the hotel site, it is the hotel who is false advertising. Too bad they don't tell you up front that you probably won't get an ocean front room. Website makes it sound like all rooms are looking right at the water but in reality 25% of the rooms have a partial ocean view. Also, the studios have Murphy beds with pretty terrible mattresses. If you have booked a studio, do yourself a favor and buy yourself a queen size air mattress at Walmart by the airport, you'll be glad you did. Carpet is really dirty. Close to some restaurants and stores like ABC store, farmers market, food truck, sushi place, safeway etc. stores/restaurants are a mile or less away if you don't have rental car (can be walking distance too). Watching the sunset at the beach front everyday was amazing! Friendly staff and respond quickly if you call in for service. The only downside was no Gym/work out place. Not even an access to use the gym next resort which was the sister resort (sands of kahana i think). But you can walk/run around the area, also a mile away from public park. I was very happy to find this good value for money hotel when I came to Maui for the first time. My room number is 301 located at the corner of the building and for two consecutive nights the strong wind outside kept knocking on my door so I couldn't sleep well all night. Worst service ever. I was given the worst room in the hotel. When asked to make it right, Shayna Baldeview was rude and disrespectful to me. Told me to call my timeshare company to see if they would give me another hotel. Asked her to call manager. She called and had a discussion with manager about having "not very many rooms available" but after hanging up told me "no rooms were available." Manager Ashley Malacas did offer to change rooms and was kind and courteous. She was pleasant and kind after our first night of horrible service. Horribly dirty hotel. Rooms overlook parking lot. We just got back after staying a week at the Kahana Beach Resort and we absolutely LOVED IT! We had a one bedroom with the most amazing view. The unit was very big and comfortable. It had a full kitchen and dishes, two flat screen TVs and all the comforts of home. The condo is right on the beach! No trek necessary. You just go down the stairs and you are on the sand. There is also a pool, with lots of lounges as well as a spa. Additionally there are BBQ's if you want to cook dinner outside. Parking was never an issue. If your looking for the "ocean front view room", this is it! We have stayed in many 5 star plus places, and the grounds and amenities do not come close to that but the view makes up for it. We had the 12th floor, top level, 1 bedroom, 2 full baths, full kitchen unit. Being on the balcony makes you feel like your parasailing... so not for small children or people afraid of heights. It was perfect for us and we will return. Parking is tight but it's only a few steps from the elevator and the car was always convenient to get to. The pool was not fancy at all but it was nice to submerge and it was clean. We spent 2 days of our trip traveling to 5 beaches to the north and 7 beaches in Kihei and Wailea, and we are very happy to get back to the quiet and beauty of Kahana beach where the swimming was easy and the snorkling was worth it, (since we saw turtles). Our decor was nice; Hawaiian style bamboo furniture, flat screen TVs, bed could use a pillow top. Our carpet and tile was nice and near new looking, it was comfy, clean and homey. We got one of the condos on the 6th floor, and it was absolutely gorgeous! Spacious, two floors, and a beautiful balcony. Came with washer/dryer, and all the works of a kitchen. Lovely area, and it's right across the street from a small beach. There's a pool with a jacuzzi and tennis courts. Two bedroom, two bath and a pull-out sofa. I love the full length mirrors in every room and in the downstairs- awesomeeeeeeee. Couple of issues: the wifi only works downstairs or towards the end of the condo. My room was on the opposite end, so I sat on the stairs do finish up some work on my laptop. Also, there was cat hair all over the floor of my room. Another thing to note is that the water doesn't stay very hot for long, but that's not really a problem since it's pretty hot around here. This is an RCI Timeshare. The poor suckers who have purchased are not happy and refer to themselves as "owners" as if they should be treated better than you. The girls at the desk have fake smiles and seem very unhappy with their job. There is NO housekeeping. It is $27/day if you want that. I saw the towel cart once in 7 days and was able to grab a couple. This was our honeymoon There were bugs and dark hair in bath tub. The cot on the murphy bed floor felt like we joined the marines. They do have bug spray under the sink. There is no dishwasher it is do it by hand. The access to food/drink is next door at Kahana Sands where the bar/restaurant has a great swimming pool...but it is for Kahana Sands clientele not you. There were drunk people dominating the one and only hot tub for almost the entire stay we had there. We paid $19,99 for VIP treatment and this was nothing but a parking pass. Definitely a 2 star hotel but the partial view was beautiful so I would give it a 2+. Also, if you want your sheets changed in the 7 days you stay there... look in the drawers. The fridge was too big for the space also so the door wouldnt open all the way. read more

My wife and I stayed at this resort. It was a pleasant stay with the exception of the construction being done to our balcony. It would've been nice to have been told of this obstruction of view before our arrival. The room was adequate for the price paid. A major plus was beach front view as it sits directly on the water. We were also never called back about the little bugs we noticed when we first arrived. We will choose another location for our future Maui stays. read more

Walter and Barbara. Just got back. Great stay. Trip over (sad imoge) . Easier to get into Hell. We've own this for years. No, it's not the Ritz Carlton. So what! It's a place to kick back and relax. You are surrounded by everything you can ever want or need. After the renovation, it is clean and well kept. the people are nice and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
