Since the dishes are mainly from state of Hidalgo located in the pre-Hispanic region of Mesoamerica, the food was new to my family. Portions were plenty and affordable for all the food my family ordered. While the food was new to me, it was a delish experience and I can't wait to try more items on their menu. The restaurant had plenty of seating and the ambiance was nice. I recommend trying this place at least once (and hopefully more!)

The salsa had enough kick to make my eyes water and still treat my tastebuds. We even left with a quart. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. The service reminded me of how service used to be--attentive, friendly, and never rushed, even though we came in close to closing time. The staff helped each other out and worked like a team that's been serving their customers for years and has figured out how to do it right. Prices were a couple of dollars less per plate than expected, which was a great bonus. 100% recommend! We'll be back!

The waitress was sweet, but remained slow throughout the entire meal. Our waitress never offered drink refills, and we waited extended periods for a to-go box and our check before finally going to the cashier ourselves. The biggest issue was a strong sewage-like odor coming from the restroom area. We were seated nearby, and every time the bathroom doors opened, the smell drifted into the dining room. Even the handwashing station in the dining area had the same unpleasant odor. The food looked great when it arrived, and the chips and salsa seemed fresh. However, I was disappointed to learn they no longer serve guacamole with their fajitas. The chicken fajitas arrived sizzling hot, but became very dry as they cooled. They were spicy, but lacked much flavor. The rice and beans were good. Overall, between the slow service, unpleasant smell, and mediocre food, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Waco that I'd try before coming back here.

They have a taco salad that is absolutely delicious! Their margaritas are also on point. The Waco restaurant is a little more homey and not quite as luxe feeling as the Houston locations, but it can be solidly relied upon for good, filling Tex-Mex, so I love to stop by when I'm in town.
