I've been here 4 times this year as I really enjoy the food here. I've tried many items here and enjoyed most of them. My favorite is the Pork Belly Bao appetizer. Least favorite was the Wasabi House Noodle (didn't taste like wasabi). It's not a full service restaurant, but the staff is great there and I've been well taken care of. Seating is very limited there, so I usually go during off peak hours. Parking lot is in the back. Dek Sen is one of my favorite Thai restaurants right now. read more

Ordered pick up for their lunch special and it was super yummy and a good value. All the food was like $50 and we had some left over for another meal. The curry was amazing and the bao buns had so much flavor (on the sweeter side). The fried dumplings and egg rolls had great crunch and the sauces were super good with them. The dumpling filling didn't have a ton of flavor but I always use sauce anyway. The Pad C U was a much more subtle flavor but good. read more

Dek Sen's is a hidden gem in Sherman Oaks that serves delicious Thai food. I had the honor of attending a yelp event and I instantly fell in love with the dish that I was able to try out as part of the event. So here I was, returning as a customer. I was fighting a cold and so I wanted a nice hearty soup. I found parking in the back lot and entered through the back door. Plenty of parking in the back or street as well. I then approached the counter to place my order. She was very nice and quick to place my order. I went with the Kao Soi Noodle soup and their Vietnamese iced coffee. The Kai Soi Noodle soup's presentation for dining in was beautifully crafted. It came in a creamy coconut curry broth, egg noodle, cilantro, onion, pickled mustard green and crispy noodle. 5/5 I asked for the spice level to be medium, and level was just right for me. This is by far the best Thai soup that I have had so far. The Thai iced coffee had a great taste, smooth yet caffeinated. Perfect blend of sweetness and creamer in it; they use condensed milk. 5/5 Overall, I will be coming back soon to try out other Thai dishes that they offer. read more

I am a Ma Sa Man (massaman) curry enthusiast! So happy to discover that Dek Sen is now in the west valley. I have visited their original location, Rustic Spoon and loved their version. Ma Sa Man curry features braised beef, potatoes and peanuts- so flavorful & satisfying! So happy that I can stop by Dek Sen on my way home from work! I decided to have the Prik Gang fried rice while at the restaurant. Delicious! It arrived steaming hot with pork belly, bamboo, bell peppers and zucchini along with a tasty green curry sauce! Omg! I will be getting this again and again! Met my mom and few family members for lunch here earlier today. It's a small spot with a few tables. You place your order at the window and take a seat. They bring the food to your table. Customer service is friendly and attentive. The ambiance is chill. We ordered a few things but I somehow forgot to take a picture of everything. We were having a good time chatting lol. Forgot about pictures. I only have a picture of the soup I ordered. Koo Soi noodle soup is my favorite here. I get it with veggies no protein and it's delicious. My mom ordered a pad thai with veggies, the noodles were too thin it's better when it's a bit thicker. But the flavor was good. Absolutely fantastic place! My first time and I was greeted by the sweetest cashier helping me choose what I want and what specials are available. I chose a pad Thai with shrimp and a Thai tea to drink. The Thai tea was rich, creamy, and not to sweet and perfect to cool down the spiciness from the hot sauce. And that pad thai - WOW. It's one of the more unique pad thai I've had, it's a tad sweet so the hot sauce helps balance it out, and it's a very rich and noodle-focused dish. The shrimp were a tad overcooked but still tasty and juicy. I loved the juiciness of the noodles too without it being a swamp of sauce. I will definitely need to come back!! read more

So glad I got the opportunity to check this place out. The food was so delicious! I ordered the crispy rolls with sweet and sour sauce and they were cooked to perfection. The crispy rolls were so full of flavor. They give you around 6 rolls, which is plenty. The service was also amazing. Parking can be rough, but there is a parking lot in the rear as well as a handicap accessible entrance. We parked in the back and walked through to the front. At the front, there are menus that you can take to your own selected seats and review. When we came up to pick up the menus, we were greeted right away. When you are ready to order, just come up to the ordering window to place your order. We ordered lots of food. We ordered stir-fried mixed veggies, basil eggplant with beef, tom ka (soup with coconut milk), chicken sate (grilled sticks/skewers), and some crispy veggie rolls. The service was great! The food was fantastic. I would order everything again, and I will be coming back here again. Delicious food, great atmosphere. Very relaxing and pretty quiet. I first discovered Dek Sen's from a mailer, and it wasn't until I saw a Thai Tea promo on UBEREats that I stopped in for the first time. The Thai Tea made here? Ooooh absolutely sugar through the roof - perfect for dilutions, but not as tasty otherwise. For dining in, parking is easily found on the street. It's a fairly cozy spot as well. Staff members take your order at the window, and you pay before receiving your food. On my next trip, I made sure to try a curry chicken lunch special. The value is indeed there, and the size was indeed modest but satisfying. The egg roll was STEAMING hot, so mouths beware! It was tasty in the sauce, of which there was plenty. I'm naturally conservative with my entree to rice portions, but even so I found myself having extra rice in the end. The curry also errred on the sweeter end. If you plan to dine in, you order at the counter and the food will be brought to your table. I ordered my usual Thai food orders: a noodle dish, curry, and fried tofu. The pad see ew (pad c u) was delicious and not too sweet. It also comes with a generous amount of protein (beef). I had their red curry which was flavorful. Their fried tofu was on point and their sauce was a bit different from other places. It was more vinegar and light, rather than the usual thick/sweet sauce that I was used to. I have walked and driven past this place so many times. I always said to myself that I would come in and that I would take one of their cooking classes. I was running errands as I get ready to move in January so I treated myself to dinner. Walking into this place the first thing you notice is that it's cozy. The decorations are simple and the menu is scattered on the window above where you place your order. The lady behind the counter was super friendly and helped me choose my drink which ironically is one of my favorites. Thai Iced T and she helped me decide on my second dish. The tea was perfect! My first dish was Moo Palo ( Braised Pork Belly with steamed Bach Choy and jasmine rice. ) The Pork Belly was perfectly cooked, tender and extremely flavorful. The rice was fluffy and the wasabi sauce was an amazing complement to the entire dish. The second dish that hit my table was Kee Mow ( Flat rice noodles stir fried in our signature drunken sauce , white onion and bell peppers.) The overall flavor and chew of these noodles was absolutely mind blowing. I topped this dish with their hot sauce, then devoured it. I appreciate the simple aesthetics/decor; I particularly liked the English/Thai translations on one of the walls. The staff was great and so was the food. For takeout, you can order at the small window, otherwise take a seat and someone will come to your table and take your order. The menu selection was pretty good; we went with Tom Yum Noodle Soup, Pad Thai, and Crab Fried Rice. Called in the order. Got there and it was almost ready. Cute, low-key place, order at window. Seems family owned and run because a couple of teens were doing their homework at the table. I had a rice dish with shrimp, medium spicy (the spice was perfect) and my wife had some veggie/rice/tofu dish that she liked a lot. I wanted more veggies so I tried the vegetable soup. Came in to give our local Thai spot a try, and left VERY disappointed in the quality of the food. The pork belly buns were doused in hoisin sauce, making it very unpleasant to eat. This is a consistently good takeout spot with better prices than many other local spots. I have had their curries, noodle stir frys and everything has been great. Best decision to try this place. If you want some really good fish, HIGHLY recommend getting the pla ka pow spicy. Perfect flavors and little kick. The yellow curry was creamy and light enough. Mixed stir fry veggies were really good and had a sweet hint to it. The employees were very nice and parking was easy with a lot in the back and street parking in the front. I was beyond pleased with the $12 green curry lunch special I got. They also gave me a 5% online order discount and free crab dumplings because I ordered more than $30. They actually forgot to include the free dumplings in the takeout bag but they fixed it very fast. Friendly and kind staff. The restaurant is casual, with colorful decor. Also there is a parking lot behind the restaurant which makes things very smooth because the street is pretty busy and it's sometimes hard to find parking. THE BEAT DEAL EVER. We came here while driving home from Santa Barbara and happened to be in the area when we were planning to pick up desserts at Creme Caramel LA which shares the same parking lot. Overall, we liked the food, especially for the Lunch Special prices. It's not amazing Thai food, and you can certainly get better, especially in Thai Town or even in my local area, but it's solid. We got the Green Curry, Eggplant Basil, and the Pad Thai. I think the worst dish was the Pad Thai since it was too sweet, but the others were good. We would probably go here again if we were in the area and looking for Thai food, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Nonetheless, a decent place with nice service. read more

We've been coming down to Van Nuys for work a lot and I've wanted to try this place for a while. Glad we did. What an awesome little small restaurant. They have so many options to choose from. She definitely knew what she was talking about when it came to spice level because she got it spot on for us! We ordered the sole fish fillet, which I got steamed instead of fried. We also ordered, the spicy fried rice, and the kee mow with beef. Even though we only ordered three dishes it was a lot of food! The portion sizes are great at this place. Now onto the food, the soul fish fillet was melt in your mouth tender, and I dipped it in the green sauce that it came with and it was absolutely amazing. Gave it the right amount of spice and a little bit of sour and it was incredible!!! My husband loved the spicy fried rice. We got it the highest spice level, and he said it was super flavorful the perfect amount of spicy and all-around delicious. The kee mow I had so much sauce and it tasted like genuine Thai street food. We ordered it medium spicy, and the level was perfect. The noodles were soft. The beef was tender. Really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. We like Rustic Spoon in Valley Village so decided to try this place with all the positive reviews. It's labeled "Asian fusion" but it's mostly Thai food with some other Asian foods mixed in. I wish they got a little more creative with it but overall still really loved it. Tom Ka Coconut Soup: 10/10 got it with shrimp. Perfect mix of coconut and lime. Wasabi Udon House Noodles: 9/10 comfort food. The thick noodles weren't over cooked. The sauce was sweet and salty - I liked the pickled carrots and cabbage mixed in. Got it with beef. I didn't really get wasabi from this. Kimchi fried rice: 10/10 great flavor, comes with a fried egg on top and big chunks of kimchi. We ate inside, they have about 4 tables. Clean inside and casual vibe. The Kee Mao (with pork belly + medium spice) from Dek Sen's is truly a wonderful savory dish that I rave about to all who know me. The proportion is very reasonable for the price and you get a free drink after spending a certain amount - that's a huge plus! It has an interesting sliding door instead of a regular door up front. All the employees are tie so you know you're getting the real thing. I had the fish sauce chicken wings which were pretty good. They could have had a stronger fish sauce flavor, and the wings were quite small. Being Thai I like to have everything taste like fish sauce!
