This was probably the best AYCE sushi place in Arizona so far! I like that they offer reservations. The place is good size and was decorated nicely. They had a lot of options for food. Everything tasted fresh and good. The presentations were excellent. The only downside was the limited sushi orders and the 10 min holding time from each order. I think it was 30 items total. You can only do 15 sushi and 15 kitchen. Which isn't much at all. If you go with a big group that wouldn't have been good. My first time I went with 12 ppl and everyone was getting impatient waiting for food. The 1.5 hrs went by quick without getting full. The 2nd time I went with 3 ppl and it was a lot better. Seems there was A LOT of Social Media buzz around this place. If you look at most of the 5 Star reviews, they appear fake AF. We came here years ago when it was the "old" place. Given the high praise and relentless SM posts, our daughter dragged us here. We've been to similar places in Vegas, which were all excellent. This place has a long way to go to that level. It was about 1/2 full on our weekend dinner visit, which was not a shock after we finished. Food: Takes forever to come out, but then seems to flow better. There is no process to the order flow, as items show up whether it was on order 1 or order 2. Good luck getting all you want in the 1.5 hours, as it took us 45 min to get the first item ordered. Overall the food was just "ok" and not worth dropping $150+tax+drinks+tip. The steak hibachi came out cold, which they redid quickly. We ended up cancelling the last roll, as it never came out, waitress checked and they didnt even start on it: when our ice cream showed up. Service: Nice staff, but they are way understaffed on the sushi line. I can't imagine if they actually have a busier night. Overall: I actually caught a couple walking out, as we were walking in. I asked what they thought and the response was " Um, it was ok". So there you go, that's about it. Best of luck, but not for us. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything was prepared perfectly, and you could really tell that quality and attention to detail went into every dish. What really made the experience stand out, though, was our waiter, Amy. Her customer service was truly above and beyond. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, professional, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the entire meal. Amy went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of, and her positive attitude made the whole dining experience even better. It's rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about providing great service, and Amy definitely does. She deserves recognition for the excellent job she's doing. I am so happy they're back open again! There were several months I was wondering! Everything was fresh and flavorful, I love the salads. The miso soup was a bit cold. The sushi was good but lunch had a much more limited selection for sushi and did not include any sashimi. Price is too expensive for lunch, especially given time limit, more limited options, and threat to charge for uneaten food. I think they would do better if they made the price more competitive and comparable to other all you can eat places locally. I do love the iPad system. Server Amy was a sweetheart and everyone was very hard-working, including the cute robots that help deliver food. They didn't know arrive facing me so I had to get creative to turn them around, but that was easy once I figured out I could use the red button on their back to manually turn them and then send them on the way. Atmosphere was improved overall today and I love that they have booth seating. I was sad to see that they were not seating people at the sushi bar today. I was looking forward to that. Your new favorite sushi restaurant is here. Kai all you can eat sushi just opened and is serving some of the freshest rolls, nigiri, sashimi and more. A girl friend and I came on a weekday night to check them out. The inside dining area is very spacious and modern. I loved the ability to order directly on the iPad to our table & the robot servers were super cute. Some of my favorite menu items were the poke bowl, curry ramen, Sedona roll, salmon nigiri paired with fresh wasabi and the green tea ice cream paired with the fried bun. I thought the price was very reasonable, given the variety of the menu. The only thing that would make this a five star for me would be a little less rice on the nigiri and having items like Yuzu yellowtail or garlic tuna as options but other than that, no complaints from me. read more

We've been eyeing Kai Sushi since the name was changed on the building from the previous restaurant. We tried to go once the "now open" signs went up, but there was a sign on the door saying they're temporarily closed due to kitchen issues. Once we saw they were actually open, we had to go ASAP. This was my first AYCE experience, and it definitely did not disappoint! The interior of the restaurant was well done, I'm not sure if it was a renovation or acquired by the last restaurant. We were seated right away. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday night, but I'm sure they will be once they gain more traction. The AYCE rules are standard to my knowledge-- 90 minutes and they said they'd charge $1 per plate not finished. I don't love that rule as AYCE should be an opportunity to try new things, but I digress. You order your food on an iPad and it either comes on the robot, or the staff brings it over to you. I liked how many options there were on the menu. As a side note, the actual menu in the restaurant is NOT the same as what is shown online and online ordering. I assume they're in the process of updating this though. May not be the case if you choose to go. I ended up trying the jalapeño poppers, edamame, french fries, golden California roll, phoenix roll, vanilla ice cream, and the dessert bun. All of which was incredibly good! The rolls they bring are full rolls, so this would be a better restaurant to go with a group or a partner/friend who likes similar items to you. I wish half rolls were an option, again to try new things. Overall, I really enjoyed my date night here and will definitely be back! The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the experience even more. Plus everything I ordered was delicious, I'm excited to go back and try different things. read more

I've been very excited about this restaurant opening and was finally able to try it. It was definitely worth the wait. We got the all you can eat option which was about $39 per person. The menu is very vast and there are a lot of non-sushi options as well for people who don't like sushi. The salmon nigiri was great. The spicy salmon nigiri is wrapped in seaweed which I hadn't realized, so it wasn't my favorite, but it was still good. The French fries were really good and surprisingly better than most other places. I got a fried bun at the end which was very warm, soft, and tasty. The atmosphere inside is very nice. I enjoyed that the light fixtures are clouds. They also played good music in the background the whole time. Our waiters were all very friendly and helpful. My one recommendation is that if you want to try a lot of different kinds of rolls it would be better to come with a larger group. There are 6-8 rolls on a plate, so realistically most people can only try 3 before getting full. If you went with a bigger group youd be able to order more and share more. We really appreciated that they didn't hassle us about our service animal. Also a huge bonus that children under two can eat free because I used to have to prepare ahead and pack toddler food but now that my kid can literally pick at a single peice of chicken without cost or guilt it makes going out to all you can eat much more convenient if we want to stop by last minute! Came here with the family for AYCE on a Sunday. I only order sashimi and expected slightly above average quality. Even though I had certain expectations, I was quite disappointed. Calling the sashimi average is pretty generous. I had better sashimi at H Mart and it cost way less. Tried different sashimi like salmon, scallops, uni, tuna, etc. They all tasted off and kinda slimy? The family had other food, but I didn't try them. Overall if you're coming here for sashimi, you're better off spending your money elsewhere or on something else. Bright side is customer service was great, and they're pretty attentive. Exceeded expectations because I used to come here when it was Akita. This is completely different and way better in quality. Usually you can tell by the marbling in the salmon sashimi, the light egg wrappers they use for their crab puffs, the thickness in their slices of all the nigiris, etc. There was nothing bad, quite literally. I'm usually a big spender at Kura for the uni and other higher value items; I don't leave there full, but this place has replaced that for me now because i can get the same things repeatedly for much less. Surprisingly, their dessert buns were not too sweet and even though they look dry they weren't lol. The steak hibachi with the curry teriyaki sauce was something unique and worked well not overpowering the meat yet so flavorful. 9/10 I took one point iff because they ran out of toro and sweet shrimp. I finally stopped by Kai after new management took over. It's very cute inside. They have lights that are literally little clouds and lights that are little birds. The seared tuna felt rubbery and did not look appetizing, the nigiri rice itself tasted stale, the sunset roll was so spicy you could barely even enjoy it without taking off the toppings, the miso soup somehow tasted bland and like seasoned water at the same time, and the tonkotsu ramen toppings were just sad and the flavor was not rich at all. There is a sign On the front door saying there are problems with the kitchen. 2 days later I called and no answer I looked in the window and it looks like it's still under construction but no activity. I'm guess the problem is getting the permits to open or their financing is not in place. read more

$28.95 for lunch. Sashimi is only served on the dinner menu. You use a computer pad to place your order and a robot is supposed to deliver it to your table. They were out of a number of items. Some items never arrived at all. Some items we got more than we ordered. The avocado salad was mainly lettuce and did not have much avocado. The salmon nigiri was room temperature. I had to send back my miso soup because it was not hot enough. We arrived at 11:50am and the service was very slow. I do not see much value at $28.95 for lunch. read more
