Sign up for this fun and amazing tour! It was not hard and just breathtaking! Toby was a fabulous tour guide home for the summer from college. The ocean was his daily view and his stories were delightful. We asked him many questions on a variety of topics and he was game to answer them all! The paddling wasn't hard just a bit sore the next day from unused muscles. The views cannot be beat especially the view from the destination island Mokulua back to Lanikai. We saw 3 turtles while paddling and a monk seal napping on the sand. Bring snacks, water and plenty of sunscreen and prepare yourself for a fun 3 hours!

Loved everything about our guided tour with our guide Brian. We kayaked to the Mokulua Island. I am told that at times when it's very windy that this kayaking trip can be pretty challenging so keep weather and fitness levels in mind when you book. It was just us and our guide so we were able to chill in the water, snorkel, and checkout the island as well. We had enough time to do a ton and were pretty tired after coming back to shore. So if you're planner you might want to plan for some chill time after this excursion. They serve you lunch and provide you with snorkeling gear, kayak rental, and a dry bag for your items that can't get wet. Would highly recommend them if you're in the area.

Awesome time canoeing with Toby at Kailua Ocean Adventures

Toby was the perfect guide for our family of four. He was engaging, enthusiastic, and very attentive. Our group overwhelmingly voted the canoe trip with Toby as our favorite activity of the many, many adventures we engaged in during our week in Oahu. The experience was good for novices like us but Toby kept us focused on our goal of reaching the twin islands. Toby was very encouraging. We got to see hermit crabs and taste what we now call "salty grapes" when we reached the bigger of the two islands. We spent enough time on this island to regroup, and enjoy the scenery and the water before making our way back to the beach/our starting point. Mahalo Toby and Kailua Ocean Adventures for a great way to start our vacation.

I chose this tour, instead of Kailua Beach Adventures, because you don't have to drag the canoe 1/2 mile to the beach. KOA's sailing canoe was right on shore and we didn't have to paddle much due to the trade winds. It was a lovely journey across the bay to Na Mokulua. We saw 4 turtles along the way. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable about the endemic birds of the island, as well as the history, culture and language of Hawai'i. I learned more about the island on this trip, than at the luau. I felt blessed soaking in Queen's Bath. The saltwater pool and view of the Lanikai was an honor I'll never forget.

I had a blast on this tour! The process of booking was super easy too! I found out about it on Airbnb! I didn't know that you can book experiences on there! I was glad to find this though! It started off with directions on where to meet and at a certain time. You can't miss the yellow sail! We walked towards the bout which is actually 2 canoes with a yellow sail and a motor! Pretty neat! Our guides was super cool and knowledgeable about Kailua and the Flat island and Mōkūlua islands aka twin islands! Juices and waters were provided so I'd recommend to pack your own lunches and make sure you bring sunblock and your beach towels! When we got onto the island we were able to do the mini tour to the Queens bath. The views were breathtaking! We also got time to chill on the beach too at Mokulua island. This was a great experience! I highly recommend this!

This was such a special adventure and the watermen (and woman) brought so much authenticity and genuine Aloha spirit to this trip it was an absolute highlight of many trips to the islands. It was relaxing and fun even though we definitely helped with paddling and landing the IWA P'EIA after the 2 mile cruise to the island off Lanikai. Kavela and his wife Keri were educated on local culture and language and we learned so much about the sea and natural world. We saw man Honu as we crossed the bay! Mahalo! Definitely worth every penny!

The canoe sailing was an excellent way for us to end our trip. It was a very relaxing experience sailing so close to the water that you can touch it. You don't have to kayak for 3 hours. Kayaking is only needed while you are taking off or when there is less wind. Otherwise, you are mostly sailing. My only disappointment was that when we stopped at the island, I would have liked to roam around instead of just chilling on the beach.

Beautiful day out with Koa canoes

Honestly, Morgan was the best guide we could have asked for--friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and just all-around awesome. We felt safe, well taken care of, and had such a great time. Review for Windward Water Sports 33 Hoolai St, Kailua, HI…read more96734 Owner/Instructor: Jeff Tobias On August 31, I contacted Windward Water Sports, owned and operated by Jeff Tobias, regarding a kayak rental. Since it was a Sunday and most other rental businesses were closed, we reluctantly went with this company -- a decision I sincerely regret. From the outset, the experience was chaotic and unprofessional. Calling ahead yielded little useful information; staff were unclear, unresponsive, and seemingly uninterested in helping. We were forced to book online due to the lack of timely or reliable communication. Upon arrival, we were issued kayaks and life vests that were in poor, unsafe condition. The life jackets were tattered, worn out, and looked completely unmaintained -- a major safety red flag. It's clear that this business does not prioritize safety or equipment standards. There was no proper safety briefing, and we received no warnings about the unfavorable weather or ocean conditions. The water that day was rough, choppy, and unsafe -- especially for first-time kayakers. No one at Windward Water Sports made any attempt to reschedule us or even disclose these conditions. A responsible and ethical business would have recognized the risk and acted accordingly. The parking at the launch site was disorganized and overcrowded, costing us nearly an hour of our already limited rental window. What should have been a 20-minute paddle to the snorkeling area took over 90 minutes due to the dangerous wave activity. Once we arrived, visibility in the water was zero -- snorkeling was completely out of the question. To make matters worse, on the return trip, one person in our group capsized and could not reboard their kayak without assistance -- a terrifying experience that further reflects the lack of proper safety measures, briefing, or equipment quality. After this ordeal, I requested a partial refund, understanding that we used the kayaks briefly. I was met with a flat denial. The justification? "Business has been bad." That is not a valid excuse. It is completely unacceptable to prioritize your financial struggles over the safety, experience, and basic rights of your customers. At this point, given the unsafe conditions, defective equipment, and the lack of disclosure or professionalism, I am demanding a full refund. That is the only reasonable and ethical course of action. Jeff Tobias needs to do the right thing and issue a full refund immediately. This wasn't just a poor experience -- it was negligent, unsafe, and unethical. I will be filing complaints with relevant consumer protection agencies and posting this review across all major platforms to warn others. Avoid Windward Water Sports. Your safety and your money are worth more.

We called day of to confirm we are able to go to the sand bar on a Sunday. He had a few kayaks left and suggested we reserve it ASAP. We showed up at 10:15 to get our 2 tandem kayaks. Jeff and another employee helped us load it onto the top of our Nissan Altima, taught us how to load it, and told us where to park to get to the sand bar. We were off within 15 minutes. The kayaks are a lot heavier than I expected. They mounted them with ease but it was much harder for us to do on our own. It isn't hard in terms of the order to do everything or how to do it, but it was hard just because it is heavy. Overall I'd rent from here again as long as you have strong people to carry the kayaks. The rental for Kaneohe sand bar must be a full day rental (we used about 4.5 hours but would have felt rushed to get it back in 4 hours). It includes an anchor as well. It was $75 per tandem kayak + tax for us.

Crews run from girls and boys 12 year olds to men and women's "masters" (50 & over). The regatta season runs June through July, and then there are the long distance races. All I know is the first day of practice for Men's Novice B (for the guys who've never paddled/raced), the coaches were already giving a spiel on how Lanikai goes out to win every race, practices are mandatory, and 5:30 practice start times mean you are out on the canoes at 5:30, not gaggling around getting on the beach. For more "recreational" or laid back atmosphere, you may want to join another club ... Having said all that - I can't imagine a better place to be outrigger canoe paddling.
