Was wanting a different ramen spot and this came up. Fortunately, was able to join waitlist (scan a QR code to join) even with less than 45 minutes to closing. Aburasoba noodles are served without the broth, mixed in with different sauces and spices. My companions got the top 1 Homaru that has minced spicy pork, green onions, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, crispy garlic and the signature chewy noodles. Option for raw egg yolk, or substitute poached egg or seasoned boiled egg. I opted for the non spicy Amakuchi, which had the same ingredients as the Top 1 but more a sweet salty flavor. I wanted the poached egg for my bowl. We also got fried gyoza, miso soup and plain rice. Single server handled all the front end business efficiently, taking orders, serving and bussing tables at the end. Very humorous bathroom, has changing table. A bit out of my way( 20 minutes plus drive) but worth it. Will try to come before so near closing time! The condiments available include chili oil, vinegar, sesame seeds and crispy garlic. I added some of each after mixing everything first. The kitchen staff cracked out orders for dine in as well as takeout.
First time an Kajijen last Friday. We unfortunately came on one of the hotter days of the year and their AC wasn't working so it was quite a sweat while we were eating. Smallish restaurant so expect to wait if you don't beat the dinner rush. We decided to get their regular and spicy abura soba. It comes with all the fixings like chili oil and vinegar. Taste was excellent but very strong. It does need some balancing if you're somewhat sensitive to strong taste like I am. But overall one of the better dry ramen spots in the area!
Wanted to check this place out because saw a lot of content from social media. When we got there at around 4 pm on a Wednesday, there was no one inside, but the space was nice and clean. We ordered the keema curry noodles, and the spicy minced pork. The food came out pretty fast and tasted pretty good. However, the service was honestly not the best. Staff that took our order did not seem nice or friendly, and was mumbling so the entire experience felt a little weird and off putting. I don't know if I'll be back any time soon, but food was pretty good not gonna lie, I liked the noodle texture a lot.
First time trying this place and it was really good. Came with the family and we got a variety of things including the homura aburasoba, original aburasoba, roast beef aburasoba, and a couple of different karaage and gyoza. The pictures made it look like a pretty small bowl, but it was a decent sized portion. I got the homura and it was really good. Noodles were nice and chewy and it was very flavorful when you mix it all together and almost tastes like a chinese dan dan noodle. Got two types of karaage and they were really good. Very nice and juicy and went well with the sauces, especially the wasabi mayo sauce. I'd stay away from the gyoza, I didn't think they were that good. Place is pretty tiny, so it fills up pretty quickly if they're busy. The workers were all really friendly and allowed us to put two tables together for our group of 7. Overall, it's slightly different than regular ramen. I think I'd like to come back and try some of the other stuff on the menu.
Crazy good flavor first time having this style and was super impressed! The garlic flakes and sauces that you can add on the side was taught to us by our super friendly waiter, great service and definitely get the ponzu karrage it's tangy and delicious got the one without Incase for the kids and they liked both
Can I start by saying this restaurant's food is absolutely delicious? I inhaled my bowl and need to come back as soon as possible! Kajiken is a small, cozy restaurant, but you feel cared for as soon as you walk in. We were checked in on multiple times. I ended up ordering their recommendation, the Homura Aburasoba. While I didn't find it to be spicy, there are also other condiments (such as chili oil) that you can add to the bowl to your taste. I substituted the raw egg for ajitama, which was a good choice for me. I would definitely get it again!
IG/TT @eatwkris @kajikenusa in Fullerton specializes in brothless ramen or mazemen and it's so good!! They have their classic special but my favorite is their unique roast beef ramen. It comes with a tangy yogurt sauce that adds creaminess and zest to every bite. They also have tons of vegetarian options and I heard they're adding more to the menu soon. I decided to try the nikumori aburasoba this time. The bowl features a lot of meat and had spicy minced pork and pork slices. As usual, the noodles were nicely firm. I enjoyed the default portion size and ended dinner full. I got my aburasoba without green onions this time and enjoyed my meal more because of that. The oroshi ponzu karaage had large pieces and was worth the cost as a shareable side dish. Service was good as we didn't wait long to receive our food. Like always, our server encouraged us to mix the noodles well. Luckily, there wasn't a wait for a table. However, the restaurant is a little small yet comfortable.
We came in expecting something similar to dipping ramen, which we have tried before but always found it to be too salty. Additionally, we had this style at another dry ramen spot though their noodles were too cold. So my expectation was not very high. Having said that, we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. -we got the top number 1 and number 2. It was not too salty at all and a little too creamy. They had vinegar, but we requested lime/lemon and that really hit the spot. With the little bit of acidity, it was perfect. -service was great, for a small spot it was very modern and intimate. -prices were a little higher, though they offer complimentary tea which really helps cut the richness of the sauce. Overall 5/5 This spot changed us from people who preferred soup ramen only to now wanting to come back to try some of the other options.
*Note: TDLR at the end of the review Homura Aburasoba: 6.5/10 Nothing mind blowing, but it hits the spot when you have the craving. The portions feel a little small compared to other places I've been (maybe I'm just a big back). Adding the additional seasonings on the table help quite a bit. Service: 6/10 They were quite busy and were stressing to get customers in and out so there wouldn't be a waitlist. The owner went up to all the tables asking customers to order from the QR menu because there were a couple people that wanted to eat, but there were no tables available. Not my favorite. Ambiance: 4/10 I gave up my table inside so a larger group could be seated. Being outside wasn't a problem at all, but the particular placement of the table is a little uncomfortable with how face to face you are with customers on the other side of the window. The table was also not level. I'm sure if you sit inside, it's perfectly fine, but this was just my experience. TDLR: I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. If it was the only thing open late, sure why not. Portions kinda small and service is okay. Sitting inside is the better option if you have the choice. Parking is easy.
We went to Kajiken at opening on a Sunday. Parking was plentiful and easy. The interior was clean and cohesive. We were quickly seated by a kind man. We ordered the original and the wagyu roast beef. Both were delicious, although the sauce of the wagyu roast beef gets heavy after a while. On the table were a variety of toppings and sauces like chili oil, sesame seeds, and crunchy garlic. Overall, this was a fulfilling meal and service was helpful, quick, and attentive. We will definitely come back if we're in the area!

They are specialized in Nagoya-style aburasoba, which is made with wheat noodles and soy-based sauce for soup-less ramen. - Top 1: 4.5/5. Very flavorful, with every bite you'd get a little bit of everything: from minced pork, green onion, to seaweed and bamboo shoot. - Original: 4.6/5. Recommended for first time visit!
Came by Kajiken on a Sunday night around 6pm. == FOOD == Can I just say that this was THE best abura soba that I have ever tasted???? It was seriously sooo amazing that right after the meal, my friends and I were like, "Okay, so when are we coming back?" We got 2 of the wagyu abura soba and one of the homura abura soba. We also got a Ponzu Karaage. The ponzu was just the right amount of citrus with the radish topping. The chicken was also very juicy and tender. I had the wagyu abura soba and I don't know what the yogurt sauce was, but it made the dish because it was creamy and the sauce was amazing. I did not add any vinegar, but added a TON of garlic powder and sesame seeds. My friend added vinegar to her wagyu abura soba to make it less heavy. == SERVICE == The staff were all super nice and very friendly. The odler man explained to us how to eat abura soba, and that it was a no-broth ramen. He was also very patient while we decided what we wanted. == AMBIANCE == Please go into the bathroom when you come to this restaurant in-person. The dozens of toilet paper rolls are the highlight!!! Other than that, the palce is very new and bright inside.

There's so much to love about this place from the beautiful and cozy interior and the cutest grandpa that runs the place and the wide array of noodle and rice dishes!! I tried the original aburasoba and homura aburasoba and definitely enjoyed the homura more since the flavors were stronger and not spicy at all!! They also offered complimentary hot tea which definitely made the experience even better! Overall, I recommend checking this new spot out! read more

The food here is so good! We tried the Original Aburasoba and the Homura Aburasoba and both were amazing. I got some additional toppings and added some of the sauces at the table. Service was also top notch! Definitely coming back soon, highly recommend! read more
Checked this place out twice within a span of three days and I can confirm that this place is solid! Customer service is nonexistent so if that matters to you, look elsewhere. I care more about the food quality and all the items we had were tasty. Will visit again read more

Went on a weekday evening with my friend. This was my first time trying a aburasoba, and I'm a big fan of mazemen so I knew I would enjoy this. It was just the 2 of us in the restaurant but as we left, it was already packed. One thing I would suggest for this place is to add some soft background music. A little weird just to hear conversations going on, especially with tables so close to each other. It's a small space, with some outdoor seating as well. Don't expect to bring a large group and be well accommodated here. The server who I assume is also the owner, was very nice. For appetizers, we got the takoyaki and ponzu chicken karaage. Tokoyaki was bomb, although I would pass on the karaage next time. Wasn't crispy enough and not much umami. We both tried the homura aburasoba and it was very tasty. Definitely a different taste than mazemen but still very delicious. Not as rich, but texture is amazing. Overall, Kajiken was enjoyable. I think I still prefer mazemen over aburasoba but would definitely try this again and go with something different. read more

I've had aburasoba (soupless ramen) in a few places now, and Kajiken is easily one of the best I've had. The noodles are perfectly chewy with that ideal bite, and the sauce is insanely rich and flavorful without being overwhelming. Once you mix everything together, especially with the egg, it turns into this super creamy, umami-packed bowl that you just don't get tired of. Every bite is balanced; savory, slightly garlicky, with just the right amount of depth. They have options to do raw egg, poached, egg, or marinated egg. You can tell they really focus on doing one thing well, and it shows. It's simple, but executed perfectly. My only downside (and honestly the only thing keeping it from being absolutely perfect) is that they don't give you rice at the end. If you know, you know... that leftover sauce and meat at the bottom is GOLD and basically made to be mixed with rice. I was lowkey sad watching it go to waste Other than that, everything was spot on. If you're in Fullerton and want to try legit aburasoba, this spot is a must. read more

I saw a TikTok about dry ramen and had to try Kajiken, and it did not disappoint. It was pretty crowded during the lunch rush, but service was surprisingly fast and efficient, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the mushroom ramen and really enjoyed it. The flavors were rich and satisfying, and the dry ramen style was exactly what I was hoping for after seeing it online. The only tweak I'd make next time is asking for no tofu, just personal preference. Overall, great experience, solid food, and well-run despite the crowd. Kajiken is all about aburasoba, which is basically ramen without broth. Instead, you get thick noodles with sauce and oil at the bottom, and you mix everything together. It ends up being really rich, flavorful, and a little addictive once you get the hang of it. We ordered a few different ones and each had its own thing going on: Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba Probably the most unique one. The wagyu roast beef was tender and paired really well with the butter onion and yogurt sauces. Sounds like a weird combo, but it actually worked. Creamy, slightly tangy, and rich without being too heavy. Nikumori Aburasoba If you want something hearty, this is it. Spicy minced pork plus pork slices made it really filling. Good balance of spice and savory, and the raw egg yolk tied everything together nicely. Homura Aburasoba This one had a solid kick. Spicy minced pork with bamboo shoots and seaweed gave it a lot of texture. Not crazy spicy, but enough. Soboro Aburasoba A little simpler compared to the others. Soy marinated ground chicken with green onions and egg yolk. Lighter, but still flavorful and easy to eat. Good for the kiddos since there is no spice. Oroshi Ponzu Karaage Really good side to balance everything out. Tender juicy chicken with a light citrusy ponzu. Helped cut through the richness of the noodles. Service stood out just as much as the food. There was an older gentleman who kept checking in on us and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Super kind and welcoming. They also give free hot tea, which was a nice touch. Parking is easy since it's in the plaza with Stater Bros. Just know it's a small space with limited tables, so it can fill up quick. Definitely a spot to check out if you want something different from your usual ramen. read more

this new soup-less aburasoba spot is small and chic inside. they offer delicious appetizers and aburasoba with chewy noodles and great flavors. parking spots are plentiful but it's a pretty crowded plaza so depending on the time you go parking may be a bit crowded. Takoyaki 6 pieces of crispy deliciousness. this takoyaki has generous chunks of octopus inside and is served steaming. would definitely order again! Nikumori Aburasoba this dish is served with spicy slices of pork and spicy minced pork making it a yummy source of protein. i love the smooth textures complimented with the egg yolk and the chewy noodles. unlike other mazemen style places i've been to, kajiken does not offer complimentary rice after your noodles. however their noodle portion is very generous and filling on its own! read more

Found this place on instagram and decided to try it out. Came in around 11am and was seated immediately. Front of house staff was really nice and gave us hot tea along with our waters. Interior was nice with two booths and 2&4 person tables Ordered the wagyu aburasoba, ponzu karaage, and takoyaki Wagyu aburasoba had a yogurt sauce which made the flavors super creamy. The noodles were a good chewy and meat was soft and tender. All the other toppings in addition added diverse texture that made you want to eat more. Takoyaki was super crispy and hot inside. It was loaded ontop with bonito flakes - definitely recommended this for an appetizer. Ponzu karaage was also really good. Soft and juicy on the inside. The pieces were bigger than I thought it would be-- i thought it would be more like nuggets. It comes soaked with ponzu on it and topped with what I think is radish. I recommend eating this one first and finishing because the crunch doesn't retain when you reheat it later due to the ponzu sauce. Happy to have another delicious restaurant in Fullerton. read more
Their instagram ads kept popping up during winter break and I was finally influenced to try it out. I love mazemen and how flavorful it is, so I was interesting in trying out aburasoba which is a similar dry ramen concept. Their handmade noodles are so yummy and chewy. You can add extra noodles (100g) to your bowl for an extra $3. The noodles are thinner than mazemen though, if that is anyone's preference. Service was a bit busy on a Friday lunch and they only have several tables inside, so plan to come early or off hours if you have a large party. They are quite new so I think they are still working out any small issues here and there. I do think they can be more attentive with servicing the tables (taking our order, checking up mid-way if we need anything else, or getting the bill). Overall, it was tasty and I would go back to get their Oroshi Ponzu Karaage again and try other aburasoba like the Roast Beef and Original. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Bastanchury Blvd and N Brea Blvd. -Located in the same plaza as Stater Bro's, Luigi's and Early Bird -Fairly big parking lot. It does come with a little bit of a kick to it so I didn't feel the need to add any chili oil to it. I like that they have garlic powder and sesame seeds that you can add to your bowl of noodles. I tried the Waygu noodles and it was freaking delicious!!! Never had anything like it. I was hesitant to try it because of the yogurt, but I think that's what made it so delicious. I love mazeman style noodles, so I'll definitely be back to try other dishes. A little pricey for the Waygu, but I'd probably order it again. read more

Mazemen is pretty good. I kept seeing ads on TikTok and Instagram, so I decided to take my cousin out for a little dinner date to try it. The service was amazing. One of the male servers offered us free hot green tea to start, which was a really nice touch. The food presentation was aesthetic, and the overall quality was solid. I ordered the Homura Aburasoba, and my cousin got the Curry Aburasoba. I really loved the noodles and how chewy they were. The flavor was slightly on the salty side at first, but once you mix everything well, it balances out nicely. I also liked that there were condiments at the table so we could customize the bowl however we wanted. We tried the takoyaki as well. It was okay, but it felt more batter-heavy than protein-heavy. One thing I was unsure about was the rice -- I didn't receive any to mix with the leftover sauce at the end, which I thought was usually part of the experience. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would come back. read more
Kajiken is the latest Japanese Noodle spot to hit the OC! This spot is serving up soupless Japanese style noodles called Aburasoba. It's handmade cooked chewy noodles mixed with a special savory sauce and topped with all sorts of protein, scallions, vegetables and an egg. It just opened less than 2 weeks ago and it's so addictive. My kids really enjoyed the Chashu Aburasoba and the Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba. Delicious soup less ramen I recommend! They're in their soft opening so you can get a free soft drink with your purchase I got their top 1 seller with the spicy minced pork, bamboo shoots, chopped chives, sliced green onions and seaweed topped with a raw egg. You mix it right away and you create this umami flavor that every bite just brings you pure bliss. Very savory and every ingredient pairs so well. You're also welcome to add other condiments they have on the side like sesame seeds, crushed garlic, chili paste, chili oil, and vinegar. Kajiken is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in mazemen. It's a brothless ramen with chewy noodles, rich sauces, raw egg and some toppings. The Homura Aburasoba comes with the following toppings- chives, green onion, bamboo, nori. They don't offer rice like other mazemen restaurants. You have to order it separately. Their Karaage was very juicy as advertised and crispy ( which they say it's not on their menu). Paired with the 2 mayo sauces they give. Overall great service, clean and delicious. read more

Arrived shortly after noon on a Sunday and waited about 25 to 30 minutes. When you arrive, put your name on the tablet inside the restaurant near the cash register. If you don't mind sitting at one of the two small tables outside, you may be seated sooner. But we opted to wait as we didn't want to experience things while there were all these people waiting outside with us. When we arrived, not the warmest greeting from the older gentleman and service was cordial, not overtly friendly. They do have free hot oolong tea which is nice but we had to ask for it. The food came out pretty promptly. We tried the tamagoyaki which was a nice surprise. A little sweet and texture was very good. The ika geso karaage (calamari) was also good but the price point of $13 for five pieces is a bit high. The amaguchi and wagyu aburasobas were very flavorful and I like that you can opt for poached or ajitsuke egg in lieu of the raw egg. Basically it's like a bowl of Korean kimbap but with noodles instead of rice. While the flavor is good, the noodles were a little thick and can be a bit on the heavy side. read more
i LOVED their loc in san mateo, so i'm really happy they opened one closer to me in socal ordered: megami aburasoba, keema curry aburasoba with mozzarella cheese as they just opened abt a month ago, this place hasn't gained too much traction despite it being a michelin guide recommended restaurant. service was quick and it is easy to order by the scan qr code located on the table. it's a cute little shop inside a plaza, and i esp loved the interior design. the bathroom was funny w the plethora of toilet paper on the wall i'm not a huge fan of fish powder flavor in my ramen so i opted for the curry. all the flavor is at the bottom of the bowl so you have to give it a good mix. i love adding chili oil and chili paste for more of a kick and deeper flavor. halfway through, i like to add vinegar for a diff taste. the noodles get v filling so i would take my leftovers for home. i think the charm is in the egg yolk mixed w the toppings, but for a predominantly white area, i don't know if this would be recognizable. personally, i'm really happy abt the short wait time as this is a delicacy i can only have in the bay. thank you for branching out to my area, i will definitely be back before more ppl find out abt this place!! read more

Kajiken is a small restaurant in a big plaza with tons of parking! Super tasty mazesoba for a reasonable price!! I got the homura mazesoba, which had a good amount of spice and savoriness. I added a bit of their vinegar and it gave my bowl a nice tang without making the dish salty. We also got the oroshi ponzu karaage, which was super juicy inside with a nice crispiness on the outside! The interior is minimalist and quiet, making it a nice spot to chat and enjoy a meal without overstimulation. Overall, I'm really happy my boyfriend brought me here and would go again read more

One of the best spots in OC for brothless ramen (aburasoba). We got the #1 most popular option and it absolutely did not disappoint. The flavors were bold, balanced, and perfectly coated every noodle. We also ordered the ponzu karaage. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy on the inside with a light, crispy exterior that made every bite so satisfying. You can really tell care goes into both the food and execution here. 3.5 stars rounded to 4 Decided to finally drop by for lunch after seeing this place all over my Instagram, and it was good. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were very friendly. I ordered: - Nikumori Aburosoba ($18.50) 3.5/5 : I wanted something on the spicier side, and while this wasn't particularly spicy, it was good nonetheless. Noodles were al dente and each bite was flavorful. My only complaint would be that the pork slices are quite fatty, and after a few bites, the overall dish felt a little greasy. - Oroshi ponzu karaage ($9.95) 4/5 : They have on the menu that the karaage is meant to be tender and flavorful, rather than crispy, but it delivered on all aspects for me. The ponzu was such a nice addition and I think I would come back for this. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Portion sizes were good, and pricing felt reasonable. Overall, while everything was good, it slightly missed the mark for me. Would return if someone else wanted to come. read more

I love the service here! Everyone was welcoming and very quick! I ordered the keema curry aburasoba, takoyaki, and hot tea. They were all terrific. The food was portioned well, and I liked the ratio of toppings to noodles. The appetizer was good for 2-3 people. The tables also had tray that helps a variety of toppings such as garlic, sesame seeds, chili oil, etc. I found this to be very unique. read more
First time trying out Kajiken for their soft opening. We tried the Oroshi Ponzu Karaage for our appetizer. As for our noodles, we opted for the Homura Aburasoba and Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba. Since it's still the soft opening, all drinks are free (we ended up getting orange ramune and hot tea). The karaage is a bit different in which it's not super crispy but the flavor and juiciness make up for it. Both noodle dishes were so delicious! The wagyu roast beef was very tender and the noodles had a nice bouncy texture to them. The Homura Aburasoba has a bit of a spice kick and so flavorful. Don't forget to add all the seasonings mid way through eating if you want to spice things up a bit! read more

My partner and I recently visited this place, and wow, we were seriously impressed. The star of the show was definitely the chicken karaage. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served with the most perfect wasabi mayo that added just the right amount of kick without overpowering the dish. We couldn't stop going back for more it was that good! We also tried the Homura Aburasoba, and it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly cooked and tossed in a rich, savory sauce that was the definition of umami. Each bite had that perfect balance of flavors, and it paired really well with the karaage. It's a simple dish, but the depth of flavor really stood out. The vibe of the restaurant was super cozy, and the service was friendly, which made the whole experience even better.
