After vacationing in Central Coast area for last few days, my family and I were all craving some good Asian food. As soon as we returned, we came here for dinner. I've been to Chodang in Cerritos over a decade ago and remember it being one of the best places for tofu soup, which is why I decided to come check out this new location. Quality of food was just as good as I remember from the one in Cerritos. Ordered a combination meal with tofu soup and bulgogi, and another combination meal with spicy cold noodle and galbi. They were all excellent. I really liked the galbi. Very well flavored. Side dishes (banchan) were plenty and generous. As soon as we finished one side dish, they immediately brought out more even without us asking for them. We actually didn't want refills because we wanted to finish all the side dishes first but they just kept on refilling everything so we had to slow down. It looks like they recently added Korean fried chicken to the menu, which I can't wait to try on next visit. read more

First off, come over and give this place a try! I work night shifts and was looking for a new place other than some viet or fast food. This place wasn't even in the first 5 pages of restaurants and only showed up after searching new and hot places open after 10pm. We came over to the small strip and found this gem in the corner lit up with the rest of the stores closed. Feeling like Narnia by walking in and seeing that its about 3x the size inside as it looks outside. The server especially was super super nice like southern hospitality but korean haha. We got sat down, chose our food and words cant describe the combo I got so check the video. THATS WHAT I CALL MADE TO ORDER FRESH AND HOT. The smoke even got to my phone camera and the sounds of the skillet was like food asmr. We also got a mackerel set and by god that was amazingly portioned with lots of side dishes too. Going to start off with I LOVE THIS PLACE!. Chodang Tofu & BBQ in Anaheim down Lincoln Ave just recently opened and we had to try it out as the food choices and pictures looked delicious. Immediately bookmarked even though we were heading there lol it's located in the corner of a small plaza that I feel can be easily missed but seems like they did some renovation to the area which makes it a bit more appealing but parking is limited and we arrived just before the rush(around 6pm?) which was perfect! But keep that in mind! Nice little restaurant with plenty of space for each table depending how many is in your party. There's an abundance of Banchan that all tasted delicious! But speaking of food! FOOD Soft Tofu + Bibimbap (C5) This wasn't my order but had a sample of both Sundubu and Bibimbap which tasted amazing! You get to choose which tofu and we chose the Ham & Sausage. Very delicious, in fact I think I'll be ordering this one next time! Cold Noodle + Galbi (C7) The cold noodle (Naengmyeon) was very refreshing especially since it was a hot day, pairing with their flavorful Galbi is perfect! I made the right choice and highly recommend ordering this combo if you want something to cool you down but at the same time something savory! Best combo yet! Garlic Soy Wings These are new items that were complimentary and I have to say, I wouldn't mind ordering some of these once they're on the menu. The flavor recipe is one to remember and they definitely nailed it! Juice boxes! Those are also complimentary to everyone, great drink to wash everything down. Kinda makes you feel like a kid again! OVERALL I'm very glad to have scrolled through Yelp to find some new places to eat and this one just so happen to stumble across my feed so had to check it out and that was pretty much the start of it all. Not to mention browsing through the community photos, the food looked so good so I couldn't pass this opportunity. I'd like to mention about their customer service. It's probably one of the most inviting, friendly and loving service I've ever experienced. Very attentive and on point, big shout out to Esther. She was so motherly-like, hard working, ensuring all customers were enjoying their meal and not just to us but everyone in the restaurant. Food: SO GOOD! It's really authentic! After studying in Korea for a year and have been loving Korean food for so long, I'm so happy that we were able to find this place at a late hour. I ordered regular spicy beef soft tofu soup, and I feel like I could do spicier to experience the Korean spice. They offer 7 types of banchan, and they are ALL amazing! This Chodang location just opened here in Anaheim and I am all for it. I met with some people here on a Thursday for lunch. It wasn't busy but there were a few aunties and uncs having their lunch. Parking was easy since the restaurant is located in the corner of a strip mall. When we arrived we got seated right away. I was impressed with how spacious and clean the restaurant looked. Once seated, we were given their many dishes of banchan. I love that they had a wide variety on their menu. There were plenty of options for their tofus including a mala flavor I want to try next time. They also had cold noodles, bimbimbap, and other korean dishes. Some of us got tofu and we also shared an army stew, pork katsu, and seafood pancake. Everything was yummy. The army stew was really good but the only thing I didn't like in it was the beans. But overall it was delicious. The katsu came with some of their yummy house made sauce which was so good. We all enjoyed everything with plenty of left overs. Pricing is very affordable. We're back! Came with several families, and we were so impressed by the service and hospitality- they had phone stands to lend out to the kids as they watched videos on phones. I've never seen another restaurant so thoughtful and accommodating. The food was also incredible. 1. Beef soft tofu medium spice was perfect for me. I notice that at some other places, when you increase the spice level, it gets way too salty- but not here! The seasoning is just right. The soup base is so good, I finished everything. 2. Banchans- they have really unique and delicious side dishes! They had Kor/Japanese style pickled cucumbers, which was my absolute favorite. But also, they had eggplant, which I also do not see often. Also so good. Wow. 3. Seafood pancake was a great option to order and share with this group of friends. It's so crispy and good. Came here on a late Thursday night and as an Anaheim resident I can't even express how HAPPY I am that I did! Having an amazing Korean soft tofu soup & BBQ place so close by that closes at midnight is a blessing in itself truly. If I had anywhere to start off it would definitely be with the food. All their banchan (side dishes) were perfect to pair with everything including the raw squid that my sister mentioned tasted so fresh. The seafood pancake was battered spot on with a nice crunch yet soft bite that will have me thinking about it in my dreams HAHA! The Galbi (beef short ribs) & Bulgogi were tender and seasoned amazingly as well!I ordered the Mixed soft tofu soup for myself with regular spicy level and the only way to describe it would have to be straight up comfort food. The soft tofu soup itself is so filling, hearty, and comforting that it could revive anyone having a rough day which is what we really needed tonight! The waitress was also so super sweet and attentive! Although I was just sitting by the bar waiting for my takeout order, I could notice how much weight she was pulling by herself in terms of customer service and was so impressed! So to any future customers please try to be patient if things get a little busy and give some grace if possible! The exterior can be unassuming at night, but once I walked inside my mind changed immediately. It's kept very clean and had an inviting warm ambiance! There is Kpop music playing throughout the restaurant which was such a fun great vibe that I wanted to pop a soju bottle open right then and there! If you are looking for a BCD replacement then Chodang is a top contender. First off plenty of parking in the small plaza this gem is located in. When you walk in, the interior is super clean and modern with a cute island bar top that I'm sure will see use as this restaurant blows up. Now onto the FOOD. First off the spread of banchan is top tier and the starting amount is very generous. Especially loved the cucumber kimchi but the variety alone was amazing never mind that each banchan was standout we didn't leave any. The tofu soup that followed was very delicious as well, not a super punchy first bite like BCD flavor wise but a flavor that builds with each bite which to me made it stand out from its competitor. Super balanced and not overly salty which I feel sometimes BCD can be. Great portion for the price as well. But let me say the GALBI! Some of the best galbi I've had in OC and that includes the KBBQ places I've been to. I would come back here solely for the galbi not gonna lie. Last but not least the service was EXCELLENT. Super attentive service even with only one lady manning the front of house and she was so warm and kind. Truly the hospitality that builds regulars and I think I will be! This was my first time visiting ChoDang and it was a great experience. I ordered the Bulgogi Japchae and it was soo good! The bulgogi was delicious and the glass noodles were very flavorful. We got seated on a pretty busy night but they were trying their best to get things pushed out. Banchans are yummy, the galbi was good but I wish it was a little more burnt. First off, give this place a chance! Wonderful staff. So friendly and attentive. If you are sick of BCD or if its a long wait, give this place a try. I would say the soup is perhaps not as flavorful but it makes up in portion sizing and banchan. I do prefer my tofu served in larger chunks rather than smaller pieces, but this was only my first visit. I hope they switch to rice in a pot rather than the bowl, or if they add purple rice as an option. I am excited to see how this business develops and will be back to try their other menu items! They do a wonderful job of providing a modern, welcoming dining experience while staying true to the traditional flavors of their food. We've been here several times, and we're always satisfied. I don't have any photos of the food, but I highly recommend the galbi. It's incredibly tender--even my picky toddler loves it! I been to the one in Cerritos, the first time was great but then I went again and the food wasn't good. Then they opened a new one in Anaheim and I thought I tried it out and I love it. Is small but the food was great and the only waitress there was super attentive and nice. Is cozy with sleek decor but the music is kinda loud, they were playing Kpop music, is nice but too loud for me. And a big family and friends came in, I think they were meeting a new baby and it got loud. I like to eat in a quiet atmosphere with soft music lol. Anyway I ordered the galbi beef combo with the beef rib tofu soup add $4, I think that's their new item on the menu, the waitress says that's too much food lol I was by myself and I wanted to try the beef rib tofu soup. And there was like 9 different sides dishes; kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled cucumbers, mashed potatoes, squid, but the squid was missing the cabbage, tofu skins, veggies pancakes, the fry fish and a package of roasted seaweed. They all tasted good but I didn't finish the beans sprouts, I never liked it. The 2 beef ribs was pretty good, it was so tender, the meat came right off the bone. I got it in regular spicy so it wasn't spicy at all lol. The galbi beef could be a little more charred, it seems like it wasn't cooked enough and it wasn't marinated well enough, it wasn't as sweet as I liked it, it was kinda bland like it didn't have enough seasoning. After I finished eating, I was waiting for the waitress to come over to give me my bill but she was so busy, it took awhile. She was the only one working, there was a man there too. I'm not sure if he was the owner or a friend, he sat a table of 3 people in and he went back to the table of 8 with the new baby and started socializing with them, while the other table and myself were waiting for our check. So the total with tips, came to about $50. Is a little pricey but I'm okay with it, is for me, I'm treating myself lol I would definitely come back to this location and is in Anaheim where all the good Vietnamese food is. There's plenty of parking in the front. For the owner, please turn the music down a notch or two, is too loud, is not a club.
