Gaijin roll
Frank L.

An ayce and a la carte casual sushi spot. They have more interesting rolls than most other spots. Quality is solid. Had tried gaijin roll and nut cracker roll before and loved those. This time tried the boujee roll and the mukbang roll and was less impressed. I ordered this thru delivery and when the stuff that was tempura came it was a bit soggy. For the mukbang roll, I feel like the seaweed gives the poke a weird taste. It was ok but didn't love it. Overall, love that they have crazy combinations for rolls and they got a huge variety. Quality is consistent with what a casual sushi spot puts out. Prices are comparable but I think the ayce price probably really good if you want to try many different rolls

I'd give this a 3.5 stars, but since the pricing is reasonable and they have happy hour specials I'm rounding up to a 4. I come here at least once a month sometimes more often for their take out happy hour. It's a good deal with two rolls for $11.99. They aren't speciality rolls, but it's still better than your grocery store sushi. I've also gotten their chicken teriyaki on happy hour. It's mid, but when I want to eat healthy since it isn't greasy it does the job. After restaurant prices are getting expensive, this is my go to when I want something healthy but on a budget.

Grimmer roll 10/10

Food was great, the Charizard roll is 10/10 Service was good and the food came out pretty fast

Spicy Scallop Nigiri

I think this place is absolutely incredible. The service was top tier. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The food was all delicious. They had a buy 3 get 1 free on the rolls. We got the Black Mamba, Skittles, Surf & Turf, and Krunchy Mango rolls. Definitely delicious and fulfilling. We also ordered the Unagi Nigiri and the Spicy Scallop Nigiri. The scallops just melts in your mouth and had a nice kick to it. I fully recommend this place and give it a 10/10!!

My friends and I came in for dinner around 6:30pm on a Thursday and got a table right away. There were so many options, so it took a while for us to order. We didn't feel like AYCE price is worth it, as the AYCE price for 1 person essentially could feed all 3 of us if we order rolls. We ordered: lion king, chainsmoker, crunchy mango, and butterface. Crunchy mango was my favorite; it had a little spice to it. Lion king was okay. The cheese sauce felt overwhelming. The other 2 were pretty creamy, and they were not bad at all. There are a lot of seatings, and it's very spacious inside. I honestly don't think AYCE menu is worth it right now, and I honestly prefer ordering different rolls like this. I will definitely be back to try more.

Salmon roll

Food was amazing and came out really fast! Also got the Charizard roll which interesting but creamy.

Came here for premium all you can eat. The salmon belly nigiri is my favorite! Delicious and filling meal!!

Got the Baked Lion King, Chainsmoker, and 49er rolls

Got the Baked Lion King, Chainsmoker, and 49er rolls. They were delicious and great service. Very chill and comfortable environment.

Food is really yummy and the restaurant provides great vegetarian options and can accommodate for allergies.

brown & pale

DO NOT COME HERE. This was, without a doubt, one of the most disgusting meals I've ever paid for in my lifetime. The tuna was brown, pale, and looked like it had been sitting out for who knows how long. It tasted absolutely vile, completely inedible. As if the food wasn't bad enough, the entire restaurant had a foul smell that made the experience even worse. Then came the bill. My friend and I split the payment, and we both selected the 15% tip option, yet we somehow each ended up tipping over $4, which was nowhere near 15% of our individual totals. We paid near 30% tip each which is ABSOLUTELY INSANE for the crap we got served.

Outdated interior, unassuming exterior, and located in a lesser trafficked strip mall - the hallmarks of affordable and yummy sushi, especially the AYCE option. I came on a Friday around 6PM, and there were plenty of seats. You get 3 rounds, and IIRC it's limited to 3 rolls per person per round, which is perfect since you will get charged for being unable to finish. My wife and I came in super hungry, and we felt pretty full after 2 full rounds with some other dishes. The best roll we had was definitely the Kakuna Roll (seared salmon), which is their signature. The raw fish on the other rolls tasted pretty fresh, and they also offer sashimi for a premium price (also AYCE!!). I like how the rice isn't overdone, and neither was the mayo/sauce. Every roll looked unique and had good presentation, and even tasted slightly different. They all looked pretty close to singular sushi orders at other restaurants, and taste similar if not better (ex rainbow roll, caterpillar, etc). Service can be take ~10min during peak times, but otherwise don't be afraid to just call a server over for ordering since it can get busy. They were all super friendly and had smiles when talked to! Ever since another AYCE sushi spot closed for certain reasons, this place has been my go to, and I don't think I'll look around for more unless they close too. Solid service, solid food, and solid prices, it's one of the few bastions not yet "gentrified" by the AI tech wave.

Super Crunch roll and Lion King

This may not be my absolute favorite sushi spot, but it is definitely my daughter's favorite go-to place for sushi. It's also conveniently close to home, which makes it an easy choice for us. We probably come here at least once every two weeks. Our usual order is simple: we each get a roll and share them, which is usually enough to fill us both up. My daughter's favorite is the Lion King Roll, while I keep it pretty basic with the Super Crunch Roll. The service is always quick and attentive, the food is consistently good quality, and the prices are very reasonable. Our bill typically comes out to around $20-$25, including tip. Recently, I noticed they've added an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi option. We haven't tried it yet because my daughter and I aren't exactly AYCE champions, but from what I remember, the selection looked solid and the pricing seemed like a great value. Overall, it's a located in a reliable neighborhood sushi spot with friendly service, tasty rolls, and affordable prices.

Kb 8/24

I really wanted to like Kakuna Sushi, but my experience was pretty disappointing. I ordered the Surf n Turf Roll and the KB 8/24 Roll for pickup. The meat on the Surf n Turf Roll was extremely chewy and bland it didn't add anything to the roll and honestly felt out of place. The KB 8/24 Roll was worse. The fish tasted very fishy and not fresh at all. I took one bite and couldn't finish it. I did order for pickup, so the food sat in the container for about 10ish minutes for the drive back to my house, but I've had takeout sushi before and haven't had issues like this. For what I paid, I expected much better.

Yellowtail jalapeno avocado, crunchy mango, and the Kakuna roll during happy hour is my go to when I'm craving sushi in Milpitas.

As of July 2026, how much is the all you can eat (AYCE) menu for lunch and dinner? Thanks

Do they offer a baked seafood dynamite? It’s not the dynamite roll but more a Baked dynamite seafood rice appetizer baked in a casserole, ramekin or foil tin that’s on the menu, secret menu or by special request?

How much for toro and uni?

I believe they're market price, so better to ask them on the day you plan to go. There was no price tag on the menu for them.

What are the days and hours?

You can order by the server or tablet (if it's on the table), they're very accommodating to requests and substitutions. I got the Tonkatsu Ramen with a less salty broth and my friends got the regular broth. With the less salty broth, you can tell it's diluted but the flavor still remains. The regular broth keeps it creamy. Both are savory. Noodles are soft and well-cooked, love how the meat is balanced with the fatty parts, and toppings are well-proportioned to the noodles.

In terms of price, this place is very affordable, with each bowl costing under $20, which is not expensive. The only downside is that the space inside is quite small, so you may have to wait if it gets crowded. However, overall the restaurant is very clean, the broth is solid, and the thick noodles have a great chewy texture. Next time, I'll probably try the thin noodles. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys ramen. Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5.

We sat farther in this time and the shelves and walls had more decor paying homage to ramen. The tuna tartare which we specifically came back to try was ok. The avocado overwhelmed the tuna and the crispy seafood chips went stale fast. We also ordered the taishoken buns but with calamari this time. We preferred the pork belly over the calamari option. The sand storm calamari was the best dish of the night. It came with crispy panko mixed with some shrimp and a generous amount of garlic chili. We used that garlic chili to top the buns to add flavor. And the crispy panko saved the tuna tartare. We did order the aburasoba again and that was also still really good. This is a solid place for small plates or a good bowl of ramen.
