My partner and I dined at Mari Mari last night, 6/12. There was a short wait (10-20min) for a table to open up, and we were seated promptly after our slot on the wait-list came up. Once seated, the server took our orders and left. I ordered the rendang with beef, my partner ordered the Black Pepper Eggplant and Indian Mee Goreng from the vegetarian menu. We also ordered both versions of Roti. First problem: the server returns and the receipt she tapes to our table reads out rendang (chicken). After asking about this, only then does the server inform us that they ran out of beef. Ok, cool, I'll order something else. Next: the vegetarian Mee Goreng arrives... but it has shrimp? No problem, people make mistakes. The rest of the food arrives, as well as the corrected Mee Goreng. The food was good, nothing special that can't be found at other Malaysian spots in the area. 3/5. Finally, on checkout we noticed an extra Mee Goreng applied to the bottom of the receipt, as if instead of correcting the order, they just re-ordered and applied it to our tab. Weird. If we had not caught this, we would have been charged for food we did not order or eat. Although the staff was very kind and quick to remedy these issues, it left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Finally another Malaysian restaurant, and one of the very few that serves Kuala Lumpur style Hookien Noodles! This restaurant replaces the Szechuan rice noodle place before and has around 5-6 tables. We waiting a bit before getting seated (around 5 min ish). The place is freshly renovated so it's clean. Service was timely and the food arrives fairly quickly despite being full. The Hokkien Noodles were quite authentic, the Char Kuey Teow tastes great, and the curry laksa noodles is creamy and tasty with plenty of curry chicken. If I'm being a bit picky, the stir friend noodles could use a bit more char/heat (wok hay in Cantonese). Except for he curry laksa noodles, food portion appeared to be not very consistent (our noodles had smaller portion than other tables). I would definitely go back to try their other dishes! read more

First time. It's been for a week only and looks like business is doing great. It's lunch time on Friday and the place is packed. Lots of table inside. They have space to accommodate for big party like 10 people. Physical menu in both English, and Chinese, it's great for people who's not tech savvy. The pictures on menu for sure helps. Food flavor was good. Portion is decent. The nasi lamak coconut rice flavor was rich. The sambal that comes with our dish was on point. 1 piece of chicken drum stick and 2 big pieces of potato. There was 4 of us, so we were able to order quite a bit of food to try (actually too much). We ordered the Nasi Lemak, Kari Mee, Char Kway Teow, Beef Rendang, Roti Canai and Kang Kung. Yeah. Too much food. But it was a good across-the-board sampler. First the good: The Roti was excellent. It was almost transparent, but very substantial and chewy. And not at all greasy. The gravy that was served was also good. It came first and made a great first impression. Then everything else ... was just OK. No stand outs. Except for the fact that Nasi Lemak was served with chicken rendang? Huh? AND neither the chicken nor the beef rendang tasted like rendang. Both were heavily sauced with a light color gravy instead of the intensely dark seasoning of traditional rendang. Both came across more like curries than rendang. At the end of the day, the rest of food was just OK. Not bad, but not great. To me, this is not worth a repeat even if I am in the area since there is just so many options. read more

We tried this new Malaysian restaurant on Barber Lane, same complex as the Koi Palace. The food is very authentic and tastes like dishes back in South-east Asia. The staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. It is good to see some new South East Asian restaurants in the Bay Area. We really liked the taste of the dishes and the selection on the menu is just right and it covers the popular dishes from the region. The restaurant is small and gets crowded past noon time. If you are looking for some Malaysian/ Singapore food, Mari Mari is a good place to try. read more

We waited about an hour to get seated on a busy Sunday evening. The restaurant is pretty small so it doesn't take a lot of people to fill up their dining room. The food here was excellent, we ordered Indian mee goreng, gabo gabo, mango delight, and basil fried rice. The only dish I wouldn't strongly recommend was the fried rice since it was heavily sprinkled with dried basil and I prefer fresh basil in this type of dish, but it was generously portioned and all the other components were good. We had some dietary restrictions for food preferences and allergies and the staff took care to accommodate them. Once we were seated and ordered the food came very quickly; considering how busy they were I was impressed by the speed and quality of the kitchen. My favorite dish was the mee goreng which had a great balance of tangy mild spice, chewy noodles, and fresh vegetables. Sadly their house made tofu ran out earlier in the day so I might recommend going early if you want to try it. I expect I will be back to do just that. read more

Very disappointing service. When we arrived, there were three tables available--one on the left and two side-by-side on the right. We were a party of six, but the male cashier/server skipped us and seated a party of two at one of the tables on the right. Instead of speaking to us directly, he asked the female server to ask whether we would be okay with squeezing six people into a single table. I explained that one table was too tight and that our group couldn't reasonably be split between the far-left table and the far-right table. The obvious solution would have been to seat us at the two side-by-side tables on the right, which were available before he seated the smaller party. The situation felt poorly managed and inconsiderate. We were left feeling ignored despite there being a simple seating arrangement that would have accommodated our group comfortably. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving and going to another restaurant, where we were welcomed and served much better. It's disappointing because we were looking forward to dining here, but the lack of consideration and poor customer service caused us to take our business elsewhere. read more

Happy to find a restaurant that offered the satay that I loved! The satay had the smell of the charcoal grilled which made it very authentic. The meat was tender and juicy. (It would taste even better with a little bit of sweet taste). My husband and I went for dinner two nights in a row on Friday and Saturday. Overall, their food and service were great!
