Expensive at $3.50, but you get an espresso that has the most delightful mouth feel. Somewhere between a liquid and foam. Kaladi Bros. has the best coffee hands down in Denver. The place is fantastic. The coffee is incomparable- and I've had them all. If coffee shops were measures solely on the taste of the espresso- then this place has no competitors in the whole of Denver. However, parking is limited by U area rules. There is almost nowhere to sit in here, and its not in the Highlands (okay, that last bit isn't important- but if I'm driving down from Highlands I want to sit for a bit and enjoy the espresso I just ordered.) Vegan lemon poppy scones for sale! The scones paired with coffee were insanely delicious! I tipped the staff extra in my moment of elation but soon regretted it, as after I paid, they carried on a conversation amongst themselves and barely mumbled in my semi direction when my order was up. Stars go to the quality and variety of product for sale here. They also use eco friendlier lids and cups which made me happy. read more

My boyfriend and I both agree that you have to judge a coffee shop by their Americano. If they can do that right, chances are everything else will be good. Kaladi does not disappoint. Their Americano was smooth and their lattes are also really good. We went again and I got the Venetian Creme, so delicious and its served out of a tap. Very cool. Love this place. read more

Oh my goodness! Just had the most wonderful experience. We walked in and were so sweetly greeted by multiple employees. After talking with them for a bit, they were so helpful, knowledgable, and seemed to really care about my boyfriend and I. We shared a few drinks (including Kaladi Latte, Venetian Creme, and a shot of espresso) and ended up leaving with a bag of the Mexico Chiapas El Triunfo to take back home to California with us. Hands down the best coffee in Denver. Yeah it's packed all the time, but that's because everyone loves Kaladi. ;) The baristas are very friendly and sweet and pick up on your order fairly quickly if you're a regular. If you can snag a table, sit for a few hours because the atmosphere is the best. I have spent many happy hours plowing through homework and writing and reading at Kaladi brothers. Peak hours would have to be between 9-12 (there's a lull in the 12-1 ish area, less crowded) and probably between 2-5. Going to Kaladi early or late is a good way to avoid crowds. read more

This is my first time here, and though I'm truly not one to hang out on coffee shops, ever (if I get coffee it's usually Starbucks & always to go... Honestly not even a huge coffee drinker) I'll definitely be back here! I have my staple order, but was intrigued by an unfamiliar drink- Venetian Creme- & when I asked what it was (menu description is something like, iced, non-dairy, and sweet, secret recipe) I was offered a sample. So, first of all, RAD that I could taste it before buying it. Second, great customer service-- not only did he offer a sample, but was incredibly friendly and personable. Third: Wow! YUMMY! The Venetian Creme is sweet, rich, and really just delicious! I've never used the word heavenly to describe coffee, or just about anything, but it is the perfect word for these drink... I found out about this place because a friend of mine is in a power chair and this is in his neighborhood. (Yes, it's accessible.) The atmosphere is good, but there isn't a lot of seating so when it's full it feels like it, and it quickly fills. The baristas have a humongous station from which to work. They serve you coffee in real ceramic cups with plates if you're staying there, which is a nice touch. The WiFi works well and if you can get a table, especially the big one up front, I've found this to be a good place for a group (or a meeting). Bear in mind that it is right next to DU, so there's bound to be a contingent of college kids. That's nice in that it keeps the area lively, but at times makes you just want to grab a cup and leave. I should add that their baristas are well-trained and can make a really nice cup of espresso if, like me, you need your caffeine as concentrated as possible. read more

Kaladi coffee is the best. I mean, when other coffee joints are being praised because they serve Kaladi, you should take note. I love the espresso. It really helps when you are sitting in class, and you know you need a pick-me-up...and that jolt is right down the street from campus. Kaladi's is probably my favorite coffee shop in Denver. It is close to the DU campus, and the baristas there are friendly and relatively quick. I have had the latte there many times, and it is consistently the best I have ever had. I wish they had a deeper inventory of snacks or cakes and such, but it seems that once the inventory for the day has run out - that is it, try visiting earlier tomorrow. I just had a quick lunch at Illegal Pete's and decided that coffee would be a great idea, considering that it was freezing outside! It smelled wonderful inside and everyone behind the counter was helpful and seemed to be happy to be there. I asked the guy at the register what the specialties were and what was popular. He steered me in the direction of the Kaladi Latte. It definitely was delicious and made just the way I like it! Unfortunately I did not have time to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere because of other obligations, but next time I will! Parking can be tricky at peak times with Snarfs across the street and Illegal Petes right next door(among other great establishments). Don't come expecting a cafe where you can sit, browse the wi-fi, and leisurely sip your caffeinated beverage while you work. Don't even expect a cafe with a decent spot to read the latest issue of The Onion. Kaladi Coffee is about the coffee- not, like modern coffee shops, about perky barristas and an inviting space. I recommend buying the beans by the pound instead of actually ordering a drink, but if you do have yourself a latte, make it to go, and try the Venetian Cream- any DU student who's ever stopped here for a caffeine fix will tell you that this unique specialty is both delicious and addictive. I recently went here with a good friend to grab some coffee and catch up. I had been warned by another friend that it's pretty busy and is sometimes hard to find a seat... she was right! Luckily, as we waited to order our coffee and pay for it, a couple got up and left, so my friend and I were able to scoop up some seats and not be forced out into the windy cold. My first impression was very positive-- the coffee shop, on a Friday morning, was busy but not in a crowded, oppressive way. This is clearly a neighborhood coffee shop, where people come not just to study, but to chat, bring their families, and kick it with friends. The ages in the coffee shop that Friday morning ranged from a 2-year-old to a man who looked like he was 70. Clearly this is a place that the community invests in! I ordered the cafe viennesse (sp?) on the recommendation of another Yelper, and I was not disappointed! I'm glad I ordered such a strange combo (orange and cinnamon are the flavors, I think? Definitely orange!), because Kaladi Bros offers a HUGE selection of coffee. Seriously, I was overwhelmed! My friend ordered a regular vanilla latte, and chose to have hers served in a to-go cup, which I think they charge $.25-.50 extra for? Not sure about that, but I think I remember seeing that on the board. I'm not knocking them for that; I think it's nice that they offer mugs for those who stay inside. Anyway, the pros are the vast array of coffee choices, the cozy, familiar atmosphere, and the good coffee. Cons would be lack of seating, and it's a little too loud for me, which unfortunately significantly diminishes the amount of time I will spend here. Went to Kaladi for the first time yesterday to purchase Espresso beans and I knew I would like this place when I noticed all of their beans for sale were in a cooler. They were very helpful when I asked which beans they would recommend, and they also told me to keep them in an airtight container in the freezer for preserve the freshness. Kaladi is so-so for me. The coffee is good, and the prices are hard to beat in Denver if you want to steer away from the generic coffee shops. That being said, Kaladi doesn't keep up with the competition when it comes to atmosphere and customer service. It's usually way too loud for me to get any studying done, which is too bad since it's the closest place to DU. Worse still is the service. It is definitely a hit-or-miss. There are a couple people that are consistently friendly and upbeat, and the rest are dull and boring at best and sarcastic as worst. It always surprises me when people who are literally selling awake juice are so tired-looking, even first thing in the morning. Kaladi is perfectly average. I will typically choose Steam or Stella's to study if I can stand the extra distance from campus. read more

REALLY really really dig this place. I love the feeling the place gives off, how busy it is with locals, and the friendly staff. This way beats Starbucks on so many levels. I haven't been in awhile and know they change their menu from time to time on what coffee they offer. I have never had a bad experience at all. The ultimate in coffee. I've been going there since the first day they opened - many years ago. Unfortunately, my office moved, so I don't get in there much these days. As others have said, cool vibes.... These guys "hot air" roast their beans, which makes all of their coffees taste incredible. It really does make the other places coffee taste like burnt buffalo chips. I run the whole gambit of products - whole beans, ground and drinks. Mark (one of the two owners) is the guy that started the whole thing. His love for a properly roasted bean is what makes Kaladi so amazing. I know for a fact that they have pulled their products from places that did not make coffee to his standards. My suggestion is to start off with a VC and then work your way down the list. From past experience, VC is usually only offered in the summer and into fall. It's a cold filtered coffee drink from heaven. Caffeine packed from what I'm told, but that's not why I get it. If you really want some kick, have them toss in a shot in the dark. The baristas can be awesome to just plain grumps depending on the day. Get to know them before you pass judgement. There has really only been one over the past 10+ years that I really didn't care for. A couple of them even became friends over the years. If you dig art, this is also the place to ogle some cool work by local artists. I have a picture on my office wall I bought from there. Space can get tight in there, sometimes it's a bummer if you want to hang out. On a given day there can be several locals chatting, a few profs from D.U., some homework zombies and even an occasional Rabbi talking to the other owner Andy. Parting notes. Stopped by for a cup of coffee with a friend and truly enjoyed my experience. I started with a simple cup of coffee (or so I thought). It was thoroughly delicious! They do all their roasting on site, and whatever they do, it really brings out some great flavors. Then I moved on to a spicy chai- amazing! Not many places have this type of drink, and I definitely suggest it. Overall, the place has a great feel to it, with a wide variety of customers ranging from local firefighters to college students to professor-types. The only reason the place gets three stars is the lack of seating. It's tough to find a place to hang out, and creates a feeling of being rushed every time I'm there. Something I haven't talked about in the past is how good the coffee beans are. I bought and several bags of their coffee to take home whether it's in my espresso machine or my French press the coffee just taste better than anything else I've purchased. Hands down one of the best coffee shops in Denver. Fresh roasted coffee. Real, decent, authentic clientele. And may I say that they clientele is very diversely educated and not in a pompous manner. You can also purchase green coffee beans if you too are a home roaster. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The service is usually swift, fresh, and friendly. This is my biased opinion because I LOVE, Love, love this place. And they have always made me feel welcomed and it just makes their coffee so much better. A decent local place to grab a latte. I don't taste a huge difference between their lattes (my usual drink) and chains like Starbucks. So it's really a matter of "how many blocks can I force myself to walk". I've also only seen pastries there once out of five times I've been. Since I'm not going long after they open I'd expect them to have some. I'd like to think it's an elaborate long game practical joke....so funny... One of my issues/root of my confusion is the look/staff. Maybe they or you don't mind clutter in which case ignore this and add a star. They have boxes everywhere, cheap tables and folding metal chairs. The most logical explanation is they can't move the boxes because their storage room is a no kill shelter for puppies. I respect whatever side hustle is preventing them from storing stuff out of sight. Just not as inviting as id like. The staff is hit or miss. I've had super friendly, sweet people and also rude, annoyed people. For the rude ones I find that inventing horrible tragic back stories for them really helps my empathy levels. I'm not as mad at the cashier who isn't friendly when I pretend her turtle has cancer and she's trying to decide whether or not to put old Henry down. All about perspective. read more

They will ruin Starbucks for you and turn you into a coffee snob. But in all seriousness, five star place all around.
