Here's what I think The food their is great waking up and heading over to the great Karoo buffet makes my mornings awesome I love the warm cinnamon rolls and the fresh fruit selection the BLux bar and Grill is perfect for when you're about to check out of the hotel and when you check into the hotel because it's not a crazy fancy restaurant so you don't have to get reservations there are two restaurants that getting reservations is totally worth it the Italian place has amazing spaghetti and the double cut steakhouse I have not left disappointed or hungry the food is incredible. I recommend the wonton tacos every time I've been all four times was absolutely amazing I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Mexican food tastes. The room was comfortable and I like the elephant towels and the soap. The waterpark is so much fun. I recommend watching some YouTube videos on the POV's of the rides so you could see what rides are perfect for you. I absolutely love water parks so I choose some of the bigger rides, but some people might not like the huge rides so checking out YouTube videos on the slides is a great idea, the resort is great for all ages. Get your receipt for your drinks. We where charged for drinks we did NOT purchase. We only purchase a couple drinks. I knew exactly what I had to drink. When I got my bill realizing I was charged for 2 drinks I did not purchase. I should have just called police. Kalahari is saying I never stayed but yet charged multiple drinks to my room. What I will say for those who are disabled and reading this --- they have told me valet parking is complimentary for guests with disabilities who have disabled plates. This year, we chose Kalahari and booked five rooms in total across my family, including rooms for my wife, brother, and sister. Unfortunately, the experience was so frustrating that we will not be returning. 1. Check-In Disaster: The check-in process was chaotic and disorganized. My wife booked three rooms under her name, and we had to stand in line four separate times to fix repeated errors: * First Trip: We received our wristbands but didn't have room assignments yet. * Second Trip: Hours later, we received room assignments via text, but one set of wristbands wouldn't open the door. * Third Trip: My in-laws were assigned the same room that my family was already in, requiring yet another trip to the line. * Fourth Trip: After dinner, we returned to find that none of the wristbands for our room worked because staff had deactivated them while resolving my in-laws' issue. When I voiced my concerns to the manager, I was told the confusion was my fault for booking three rooms under the same name and phone number. By this point, my family was already in their pajamas, and I didn't want them to have to stand in the hallway waiting for housekeeping. Who knows how long that would have taken. My only option was to change the sheets myself at 10:30 PM, which was completely unacceptable for a resort of this caliber. We've visited indoor waterparks every year as part of our holiday tradition, but this was by far the worst experience we've ever had. I only did the day pass but found it overall very enjoyable. It was great for my 5 year old, and he is excited to hit the bigger kid rides soon. Went on a Tuesday and crowds were ok, I can see where if it was much more crowded it might get frustrating waiting for slides. Wave pool timing seems disorganized. Kalahari's restaurants and basically everything inside is overpriced, a normal KitKat bar from a vending machine was $3.75 that just gives you an idea, a very small gym with no barbell, too much tiny little kids inconsiderate of personal space, a fly here and there in the rooms, almost every white guest will stare at you if you're a colored person especially the kids, parking is a scavenger hunt, also had people steal our towels with our slippers on them so that was nice. Also the mini golf was $10 per person for a very tiny area with 9 small holes. It is ironic that this is a African themed resort yet lacked diversity. Now the good things about Kalahari. The workers are almost all colored and polite, the king bed suite with the balcony and tub was a vibe every night, the room smelled and looked genuinely clean, maintenance guy came less than 5 min after calling to help us with the jets in the tub, the water park lines on weekdays were not long max 15min wait, after coming back to the room there were new towels, a lady politely changed out our empty body lotion bottle in the room when I asked, our waiter at the breakfast buffet was polite and quick but we did have people next to us face a loaded diaper in their stroller next to us while we were eating so thats always good. I also liked how our room keys were on our wrist, it was very convenient and not having to worry about always carrying a key card was very good. If you're a mom or dad with toddlers, tweens, or teens this is a perfect place for your family and if you're an adult make sure your patience is long because kids will cut you in line and touch you because they don't know what personal space is. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the gluten free choices. Before going there, I looked up reviews and didn't see the greatest of options for gluten free food. However, my daughter and I were able to eat without any worries. The burger place had gluten free buns and were able to bake their tator tots. Overall a very nice visit. Front desk staff was friendly and our room was ready right when we arrived. We had a standard room and it was clean and spacious. We stayed 5 nights. Housekeeping was great about refreshing towels or bringing anything needed. Doors open with your wristband that also gets you into the pool. When you check in you can assign bands to have charging privileges but be aware they put a hold on a certain amount on your credit card for a certain amount per wristband. The one thing I felt could be better was the wi-fi was super spotty especially in the convention center. The waterpark was nice. Lots of slides, forts, lazy river, pools, hot tubs and bars. I brought my own beach towels from home and glad I did. They have beach towels to borrow but if not returned there is a $20 charge. The beach towels were just okay quality. Food and drinks are overpriced at the resort. Your room does have a fridge and a small microwave. They did have a souvenir cup for alcoholic drinks that was $27 and $21 for each refill. There was a nice variety of frozen drinks. They do sell drinks made with Starbucks coffee that didn't seem higher than what I pay at Starbucks. It is not a Starbucks location so don't plan on using your app to pay. They also have one on the convention side that is sometimes open as well. Plan to walk quite a bit as the resort is large. read more

I came here for a wrestling tournament on 5/9-11 and was underwhelmed from beginning to end. My family and I stayed in one of the two bedroom suites and upon arrival it was clear the room had not been properly cleaned. There was hair on both toilets, crumbs on the master bed and sofa bed, and trash on the floor. For all the money we paid, this was unacceptable. I brought it to their attention and they sent someone up to clean. I thought everything was good until I went to shower that night, and found hair in the tub and sink in the master bathroom. At this point, I'm disgusted and grossed out. It was late so I let them know about it in the morning and they said they'd send someone up to clean. Hours go by and no one comes. I reach out again and they said they'd send someone. When I get back to my room, my bed was made but the hair is STILL in the tub and sink. My husband now has arrived and he talks to them. This is now the 5th time contacting them. Y'all! They didn't come until the evening!!! And finally removed the hair. I expressed how unacceptable this all was and asked what they would do to compensate me got the inconvenience. They said we could have a late checkout at 1pm and gave my 3 kids $25 arcade cards each. I honestly don't feel like this was enough but it was something, so I accepted it. But the fact that I had to ask and it wasn't just offered was frustrating. At this point you would think it's over, nope! That night when I went to shower , I grabbed a wash cloth, opened it up and there was hair on it! It looked like the same blonde hairs that were on the tub originally. I honestly believe that the people that came to clean used that washcloth to pick up the hairs from the tub and folded it back up with the new towels. Disgusted and appalled!!! I couldn't even sleep that night. What should have been a great relaxing weekend with my family (not to mention it was Mother's Day weekend), turned out to be a very uncomfortable and frustrating trip. I'm just so through with this resort. It has left a bad taste in my mouth. I never want to stay here again. Please save your money and go elsewhere. My kids enjoyed the arcade and waterpark, and the food was good. But other than that I wouldn't stay on the grounds. There are plenty of better hotels in the area that costs a lot less. read more

I will get straight to the point , so many inconveniences for one night stay: 1. Door keys (bracelets) get deactivated if you use the water park, so you have to spend 15-20 minutes going to the front desk so they can give you a new key, multiply that for each person staying with you. 2. The shower supplies are all the same for Shampoo, body wash and conditioner, none of them produce lather, so technically you are showing with water only, and here is the kicker, when I brought this up to the front desk, the guy said ' I don't think they put the same solution in every container but I can understand why soap does not lather if we use the cheap type of soap, we will check it after you leave"!!! 3. I noticed that in their main cafeteria instead of providing napkins, they have rolls of paper towel on each table, the kind you will use in your kitchen to clean a dirty table. overall it filled cheap and lacked real customer service like the old days when customer service used to exist. read more

Check in at this place is not obvious at all, and there are no signs. I walked around lost for almost 10 minutes before anyone was visible. They do not honor guest requests at all. I'm here for a conference, and they only had the furthest possible room area away from the convention center available for a room. I requested a room in the south tower weeks ago online, even listed medical reasons, and they will not accommodate. The person at check in said she was almost certain I could move to the south tower as people would be checking out today, but nope. You can hear everything in the hallway from inside the rooms and the rooms are old. Only plus so far, the bed sheets are comfy, but I'm still worried about all of the previous bed bug reviews, so I'll be on the lookout. It's clear the mattresses are very old. I have no idea why any org would book a conference here. Too many children and not accommodating for conference attendees. There is no way there are rooms without children closer to the conference center than this. read more

It is indeed big and impressive and I am glad we got to experience it. Aside of that though- as you might expect, this place is a major cash grab at every turn. Everything costs a good 30% more than it ever should because they know they have you by the... The food at every restaurant has been mediocre to acceptable. Let me put it this way- coming here as a gift and not paying anything, all it cost us was an eight hour drive and good cost. But I would never spend my own money to come here. Man, I relaly wish I didn't like Kalahari as much as I did. This place is gorgeous and so much fun! We came with friends and stayed in a suite which was comfortable and had a fridge and microwave, which was helpful with two toddlers. Everything from the moment you drive up to the property to you first step into that lazy river was so thought out. So many times in hotels or parks in Vegas or sesame place you think to yourself how did someone not see this or that to make this place better? And here you don't! Every section in the pool area is beautiful, spacious and age appropriate. It was also fun for adults, unlike places liek sesame place where it is only fun for the kid and you get bored to death quickly. Pictures and videos do not even do it all justice. Then if that wasn't enough, there is an arcade, free cookie decorating stations, a bakery, Starbucks, three restaurants, and so much more...all without having to leave the resort. It is really ideal for the winter months when you want to get away but maybe do not have the time or money to travel far. I absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to go back! read more

First time to Kalahari and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with what the waterpark has to offer in terms of rides for all ages. I brought my 2 year old and 4 year old and they had an absolute blast which is all that matters at the end and of course that means we will be back again in the future. We went during spring break which means PEAK time for Kalahari. Prices are high and people everywhere. I did not like how our room was not ready by check-in time. I've never had this happen to me at any resorts or hotels so I was certainly taken aback. It was especially stressful because we had two young children with us... and all our belongings. The front desk was very friendly and supposedly rushed our room without me even asking because she saw we had small children - so we got our room just shy of 5pm (check-in is at 4pm). When we finally got to our room, our key cards were not working! So I flagged down a cleaning lady one door down and she let me in after making sure it is our room, which I really appreciated. After settling in, we had to stop by front desk again for a new set of bracelets. You have to walk through the arcade in order to enter the waterpark which can be annoying when trying to get your small children to the waterpark but all they want to do is play at the arcade. Lots of game options at the arcade. Didn't see any workers cleaning the area whatsoever. COVID apparently doesn't exist here. The waterpark is very large. Huge area for tots and small children. Families were all pleasant and everyone was just trying to have a good time. Hard to find seats in you do not get there first thing in the morning though. They do offer small lockers for rent but they cost like $25 or something ridiculous. I just left my towels and bag on a single chair we found and had no issues with anything missing nor did I feel threatened of such. Interestingly not all the lifeguards speak English which I thought was odd. I was trying to ask the lifeguard to not let my toddler go down the slide yet until I reach the bottom of the slide to catch him and he kept saying he did not speak English. Very friendly gentleman though and he ultimately figured out what I was trying to say. I feel like that is a potential issue though if there's a true emergency. Bathrooms at the waterpark were pretty gross since everything was wet. Hard to tell if it's urine or just from the water at the park. Luckily my 4 year old is a boy so stands to use the bathroom. And the 2 year old has to be changed on their changing station which was questionable in terms of cleanliness. There are plenty of food options at Kalahari if you choose to dine there. We tried a few items and thought everything was decent for the most part. Overall I think if you are able to go during a not so busy time (perhaps weekdays and/or when school is in session) that is your best bet. Prices would be substantially lower, way less crowds (so likely cleaner, less lines, maybe room will be ready on time). But again my kids had a blast which means we will certainly be coming back eventually. read more

I did not stay at this resort but I wish I did! I was here for colossalcon east and this is the best anime conventions I've been too! They have an indoor and outdoor water park (I did not get to go to the outdoor) but this is by far the best water park I've been to and I'll tell you why! I love the fact that it's indoor so no matter what, weather does not affect your activity. What I also really love is that everything is within close proximity so I'm not walking so far to get on a ride. They surprisingly have a lot of rides, I was very surprised. I keep finding new rides everytime I walked. They also had a dj at the wave pool area (but again this was only during a convention not sure how often this normally happens or what events also hosts this) During the convention they were open from 11am-2am. They have a 21+ hot tub/bar in a cave! They also have an arcade which is really cool. Love the fact that most of the convention area is carpeted, I left my shoes at a friend's room so walking around wasn't too uncomfortable. We stayed here four nights and overall was not worth the price. We had fun, but I think I would limit it if we ever planned it again. First, the room was never cleaned. Not once. They came in, swapped out bath towels but didn't clean anything so be prepared for that. Second, on our first full day there a surrounding school had bussed in 6 full busses of high school students who were horrendous. They pushed and shoved in the lazy river, screamed obscenities, overall made us go back to our room for the day and not enjoy the water park (this was on a Thursday while we were there) Third, so many attractions were closed. The large slides, medium slides, across the board minimal 5-6 were closed each day we were there. Fourth, the outside activities were only available one day we were there and we didn't know at the time and only found out when we left the resort to go into town for a break. Fifth, the parking is horrendous. Be prepared for a full family hike in for checkin, out to grab stuff, back up to the room and back down to drop off the cart. I think overall it was like a two mile hike just to do that, so nothing is fast. Food is expensive, bring snacks for your room. One thing we really enjoyed were that they keys were the bracelets, so you had full access to everything on your wrist, spent on easy with that. read more

We are very excited to go to Kalahari because my son loves water parks. I will try to be be very objective on this review. We stayed 2 nights, 3 days mon-wed, summertime, end of july 1. Water park- fun! My son loves the basketball area and outside pool...the lazy river though is a total chaos, no order, people just grab the floaties, no one directs anyone on where the line starts or who came first. 2. Food- breakfast buffet is good, alot to choose from...the egg station is a must, the omelet is good and the guy cooking is very nice. The servers are very nice and friendly. The waterpark fastfood area is quite pricey but i guess is ok for a quick bite in the waterpark...there are other restaurants to go to, wide variety to choose from, price varies on where you go. 3. Service and room amenities- check in is a breeze especially if you are tech person...check out is not needed, bracelet deactivates on check out time. We don't use hotel shampoo, soap or conditioner so i can't comment on that. Airconditioning is not too great, our room is quite hot but bearable. 4. Cleanliness- now this is where all the problem comes from...let us start with the waterpark, i guess there are too many people so some parts of the part and pools are dirty but not bad as we came on a weekday - loan towels are a little bit old, worn and dirty looking..but im sure they are washed indutrially - room seems clean at first glance but then we realized it wasn't when we came home with bed bug bites all over...it's the worst thing ever, bites lasted for more than a week and left black marks It would have been a great vacation if we didn't have bug bites as souvenir. If you plan to stay here, check the beds first from some unwanted guest or else you might have bug bites to go home with. Waterpark is fun and i can't complain about it, we had fun in the waters. The second, there is no place to dry wet clothes in the room, although all the entertainment takes place in the water. Windows without mosquito nets. This place is expensive and that doesn't include the rooms! A week stay cost us $2,800! However we did have a decent stay here, the children had a blast. The place was crazy packed and halfway through our stay our water was shut off due to maintenance, they apologized and gave us $50 card to spend wherever. Honestly I felt like that was cheap since we were paying over $200+ a night and more on arcade and food to be expected to go without water for 8-15 hours. In general we spend almost $7,000 and were given the "oh well" attitude. So that tells me it's all about the money and no happy customers. Would we go back? We had a few hiccups at check-in. Our room was not ready almost an hour after check-in time. The prices will make you cringe ($17 for a mixed drink?? $15 for a kids hot dog??). They are obviously affected by nation-wide staffing issues. As a result, service is a little slow and some attractions are closed. That was a bit disappointing. We purchased towel and bottle service ($80) so we could focus our limited time on family fun instead of standing in lines. Overall, the facility is clean. The food is great. Tons of parking and easy to find spots at the resort - plus tons of activities even if you're not staying (which we weren't). The Thanksgiving event was fantastic and had all the entrees & sides you can think of. They even served champagne outside as you're waiting to be seated. Inside was decorated, and had the game & dog show on the big screens. Centerpieces made for great photos of your table. There was a kids buffet as well, and lots of desserts to choose from too. Huge waterpark and clean hotel accommodations. Good dining choices on premises. We came in early on a Friday morning in March and stayed till Saturday with our two college-aged kids. We did do the $38 valet parking so we could have the hotel hold our bags on Saturday after we checked out. We were pleasantly shocked to come in and find our room was ready at 9:30 am, which is unheard of! We put our stuff in the room, which was clean and updated, changed and went to the waterpark by 10:00 opening. We put our towels and bag down on chairs by the wave pool. The only annoying thing was that the chairs were not full recline, you had to pay extra for those, but we were fine. Cabanas were available for the day at $300 per cabana. We did not need it. The rides were empty early in the day and we waited very little to go down some of the biggest slides and tube rides. As the day progressed, the park got fuller as there was a Cheer Tournament the next day. The park was clean and clientele were well behaved. We even found the hidden Grotto bar by the back corner and had a drink in the heated hot tub/bar. The staff were all nice- Especially the girl who ran the indoor surf simulator. She spent time coaching each kid and gave them time to try all the surf moves as they laid in their surf boards. The kids had a great time working with her and we got some great videos of that experience! We left the park at 6:30 pm and the kids had ridden every ride a bunch of times throughout the day. We had made 8:00 pm reservations at the steak house. Reservations were absolutely necessary! We made them at check in. The female waiter was very nice and attentive. The food was excellent! But expect to pay premium for this steakhouse. We ordered NY Strip steaks with Lobster tails on the side. The steaks came out way too rare and we had to send them both back, but they were both delicious when we got them. My problem was that if you are a steakhouse, learn to cook steak correctly the FIRST time. A little annoying, but I got over it. We also had sushi and dumpling apps, which were phenomenal! The kids had the chicken and shrimp scampi entrees and they loved them. The bill was over $400 with no booze, but I chalked it up to vacation prices. We took the kids to the arcade after dinner. Arcade was huge and had plenty to do u til we left around midnight. We spent about $120 for game cards plus $36 for laser tag at the arcade. Saturday we had the buffet breakfast which was over $120 for the four of us. Overall, the breakfast was excellent. I wish the omelette station didn't have the customers scoop all the ingredients to give to the cook. It seemed less sanitary as the spoons were short handled and the ingredients were susceptible to cross contamination (meats mixed in with the veggie and fingers touching ingredients). The carving station meat seemed over peppered, but it was still good. Plenty of options. They need more supervision of the buffet. I saw kids grabbing too much food for their plates and inattentive parents nowhere in site. We saw a kid lick the sour cream spoon and put it back in the serving bowl. The mom was unaware. When we pointed it out to her, she took the spoon out and an attendant replaced the spoon but left the rest of the contaminated sour cream where it was! Ick! Saturday at the waterpark was crazy busy. Longer wait times and rowdy kids were to be expected. We check out of the room at 11:00 and gave our bags to the valet. We got a large locker for another $35 to store our travel clothes. We didn't enjoy the park as much the second day because of the crowds but got on our favorite rides at least once more. The lazy river was packed and had to wait for a tube a while. Other kids were cutting the lien to grab tubes up river and then pushed through the lazy river like they were racing each other, pushing and splashing the rest of us that were trying to relax a little. Annoying- but I chalk it up to bad parenting - parents who were probably at the bar having a cocktail. Maybe promoting that much booze in the park (Bars in each corner of the waterpark) is not a great idea when traveling with kids under 12! When departing around 3:00 pm Saturday, the Valet seemed overwhelmed because of the Cheer Tournament people. I found the valet with my car halfway down the driveway, past the overhang, stuck in traffic with cars parked blocking the road. The hotel needed an army of valets that day to manage the cars, but only looked like it had four people! Overall we probably spent about $1500 for the Friday and Saturday stay with room, meals, arcade and other incidentals. We had a great two-day vacation close to home. We would definitely come back. read more

We have been here many times for vacations and for dance nationals. After not visiting for probably 2 years, we went for a quick back to school getaway this Labor Day weekend and the toddler section was decrepit and disgusting. Most of the fountains no longer spray water, the protective matting was peeled back in multiple places, mats were missing off the floor, and other areas seemed to be covered in black substance--possibly mold. When we alerted the front desk, regular manager, and maintenance manager, they all claimed to have never known about these issues. I find it hard to believe! It wasn't like the one night didn't cost us over $500! We called corporate when we returned home and they offered us day passes to come back. Ummm no thank you lol! Will go to Aquatopia or Great Wolf next time for sure. read more

My family had an absolutely amazing time. We got a two bedroom suite with three adults and four children. The rooms are large and spacious and the two bathrooms really came in handy. We brought snacks for the kids and water to make the day a little easier. The waterpark was a lot of fun and all ages from adults, 12 year old through a five-year-old had a part of the park just for them. At night there are nice restaurants for adults to grab a dinner and drinks. We will be back to experience all the rest the resort has to offer. read more

I have gone to Kalahari a few times for the Arcade and dessert spots in the lobby for years, they are awesome! I decided to try out one of the restaurants B-Lux finally. Im not good with names, but this one I remembered incase I go there again since the food was delicious. Avoid Amy, she had rude mannerisms and evidently lacked her attention to our orders. Each time we needed something she looked overwhelmed with all her tables & we would feel bad asking her for something so some sweaty full of an odor man would come bring our requests. She clearly wasn't capable of having as many tables as she did. What made the experience frustrating was seeing other servers in the chaotic setting at dinner time but treating their guests with a positive attitude and were attentive. Why put someone who isn't happy at the front of your restaurant? Sets a the immediate atmosphere. read more

Clean, tons to do, great amenities. We had a blast with our toddlers at the indoor water park! Need to go back without kids to enjoy the cave hot tub swim up bar and the escape room. Need to go back in warmer weather to try the mini golf and ropes course! Something for everyone in all seasons. read more

Last weekend my family finally had the opportunity to visit Kalahari. It has been on my to do list for awhile. My children are 6 & 4, so we went as a Kindergarten graduation gift for my daughter. For the most part I thought the establishment was clean. Our room was very clean, and had 2 queen beds, a sofa bed, and an area with the mini fridge and sink in the main room. The bathroom was very small, but it did have soaker tub. We were satisfied with the room, and we didn't have to wait long after our arrival for it to be ready. It was also quite easy to bring our stuff to the room from the parking lot. I do, however, wish there was a key access to the door leading to the rooms from the parking lot. The reason for the three star review is the water park. Honestly we were expecting more. There is a variety of activities, but everything is rather close together, and at times it was difficult as my overactive 4 year old was quite eager to run to each location. The water park was also crowded, it was difficult to find a place to set up camp after we arrived at around 2pm. The locker rooms also were not the cleanest. They obviously were trying, but an attendant should really be stationed in there to keep up. Would we go back as a family, Yes. Most likely in a few years when my kids are older. On our next visit we will definitely stay for 2 nights, I feel this would make the visit much more relaxing. I also think it would probably be a good idea to stay during the week rather then on a weekend, as it was pretty crowded. On the whole our family had a fun filled quick little trip! read more

Rooms smell like a wet towel. The odor gave us a headache. We had to switch rooms and both rooms still smelled moldy. I had to purchase air freshener and candles to mask the odor. Furniture is beat up and pic below is of the nightstand. Breakfast buffet is below average not worth the $26.99. There's breakfast diners in the area much cheaper. Overall nice place. My only issue with Kalahari is some of the waterpark etiquette. Kids/teens are able to dump out their sodas into the hot tub and use the empty container to play with their friends. That's pretty disgusting. Since the hot tubs aren't attended by lifeguards nothing is done about this. By the end of the day the hot tubs are surrounded by empty cups and spilled drinks. It also irks me that people are able to wear street clothes to swim in the waterpark. I'm talking jeans, maxi dresses (not cover ups- actual dresses), polo shirts, adidas pants etc. not sure why it's allowed but it's gross. read more

Great hotel and extremely fun water park with friendly helpful staff unfortunately also paired with overpriced lockers, money pit arcade, and expensive sub par food. Large king sized suite was a clean room unlike some others experience, microwave, fridge, 2 baths, master King bedroom with a queen double bedroom a pull out sofa, coffee table, dining room table, lots of room and a great view out of two large bay windows. Water park was a blast, did get injured by scraping the top of my foot on the bottom of the lazy river bed, so be careful with that floor surface. The slides are a ton of fun, very fast with the tubes and rafts. Lots to do, not much wait in the last weekend of April 2019. Restaurants are not that great; buffet looked pretty sub par for a resort like this, spent $100 at the Ivory Coast restaurant, the kids we're not a fan of the pastas with butter(do yourself a favor and talk them out of that and in to red sauce), one of our kids enjoyed the red sauce pasta, quesadillas were good, chicken cranberry salad was good. I posted all the menus within walking distance of the rooms, since not much information given on the cost of food here and a few incorrect posts by yelpers. BONUS TIP: Plan to dine off site for major meals and bring a large cooler for snacks, water, milk, cereal, bring your OWN coffee grounds and a few filters because they use filter bagged coffee. My room had a microwave and I've read that others do, so if you plan this right you can avoid the added expense and sub par dining here. Don't listen to the early check in posts, we came less than a half hour before check in and that part went smooth, no lines; however prepping the room was a 45m wait. Lockers for rent are a total ripoff at $30 for a large: big enough for a loaded backpack and the other size lockers at 20 & 25 are misrepresented as big enough for 2 (med) and 1 backpack (small), none were advertised correctly leaving me stranded with the medium selection and asked security for help who called a guest service rep who upgraded me to the large at no cost (excellent service and attitude with a smile from that young lady, thank you). Best plan is to go in to that room with your bathing suit on and flip flops and little else and just coordinate with a friend to meet you with clothes after if you're checking out or not a hotel guest. Overall it was a great experience. Great for kids and adults, men bring a water shirt if youre feeling large (like a surfer O'neil type surfer thing, I did and my moobs were safe from the prying public eye), bring water socks that tie on all water sandals and shoes must come off before entering the rides. Have fun!!! And avoid the money out aspects of this place, you'll have a better time. Attention management: One star deducted for overpriced sub par dining, ripoff rate small lockers, ripoff games for tickets redeemable for worthless candy and trinkets, slow check in and only one ice machine on the ground floor. read more

I wanted to take a few moments to tell you about the Amazing experience my son, Sam, and his friends had at Kalahari Resorts the weekend of December 10th at his 11th Birthday Party. It was all thanks to their in-house Party planner, the baker and the young lady who was the server at our Party Cabana (Party Cabana #4). Planning any kind of party is a stressful experience. It is extremely hard to plan one on the East Coast during winter months as I have learned over the last 11 years because my son is a winter baby.  If you also combine those facts and add a destination party, it can be downright insane. Leeann, the party planner, was there with me every step of the way. Our party included approximately 30 guests all coming to the Poconos from Paramus, NJ.  Of course, it was the first "real" snowstorm of the season. I wasn't sure how many families would cancel on me at the last minute due to weather conditions.  Leeann assured me that she had a contingency plan for my contingency plan.  My family and a few others arrived the evening before the party and stayed in the large suites. When we arrived, we were thrilled to see how beautiful the lobby looked and how nice both Matt and Rudy were with checking us in. Our suite was ready early as promised, and the extra surprises I ordered were already in the room.  The kids were amazed and thought it was so cool. We very much enjoyed our day at the poolside cabana and dinner at the Italian restaurant. When we returned from the arcade, I saw the snow-covered cars and my stomach sank. Then I remembered Leeann gave me a number should I need to reach her on that Sunday, if things took a sideways turn. However, only 2 families, 4 people declined to come to Sam's Party.  Check-in for the party went so smoothly. Everyone was directed to the party cabana located right between the hot tub and the wave pool. My son's favorite attractions at the waterpark. That morning, the baker called my mobile directly to confirm my order. The cake turned out amazing. EVERYONE loved it. It was light, fluffy, decorated as promised and tasted amazing. The food was delivered as requested and was the perfect amount per person. This was the least chaotic party I had ever planned. Btw, I was a tradeshow manager for years, and this was truly my first event that went off without a hitch.  Thanks for adding the real snow and holiday lights that I am sure they all ordered up just for Sam's Party.  no not really but it made the whole place more festive. The guests thought it was extra special, and I quote, "I feel like I am partying in a real-life snow globe." Thee smiles Leeann and the staff helped put on these kids' faces.was so worth the cost and distance. read more
