Stayed here for 4 days a 3 nights this week. We loved everything except the noisy neighbors. They were one floor down from us but they had a party in their room on the balcony of all places so it was very noisy and hard to sleep. Otherwise the room was fabulous. We loved the kitchen and living space. Balcony was nice. Bathroom was weird being away from the bedroom but it was fine. The slides were awesome as usual. Little to no wait times on Thursday and Friday. Saturday they got a bit busier. My favorite rides? Zip coaster and the big blue toilet bowl ride. Although the zip coaster gave me whiplash when stopping. My neck still aches! The outside hot tub is still the best place to relax. Oh one annoyance in the water park was a lady kept sitting in our chairs. We laid our towels on it and she sits her wet butt right on it! We told her not too and then she did it again! Then she sat on my books and got them wet. Seriously rude. People don't sit on other people stuff! Kalahari spa was great as usual aside from someone outside our room kept honking their car horn. I live about 30 minutes from here and visit about once a month. Dining is sumptuous in a very attractive atmosphere with great music, dancing and entertaining bartenders bending over backwards to fulfill your every wish. Watch for special events. Booking one of your own is easy, too. I thoroughly enjoyed a filet mignon with asparagus, huge onion ring, special rice dish and a superb glass of red wine. I received exceptional service from every employee I encountered. If you sit at the bar be sure to ask for Justin, a bartender of the highest caliber! PS. This is a great family resort! It's not a cheap vacation but you truly get a great experience. The room we had was really nice, full kitchen with fridge and freezer, 1 bed room and a bed in the living room and also a kitchen table. The indoor water park is awesome, they have several hot tubs that runs inside to the outside. One of the big hot tubs (more like a medium sized pool) is for adults only by one of the bars where kids aren't allowed. The wave pool is really popular and a lot of fun. I wish they had a countdown timer so you would know next time the waves will be turned on again instead of having no idea how close it is for the next time. They have fun rides both for some that are adventurous and rides that aren't quite as exhilarating. They also have slower paced rides like the "Lazy River" which you go round a big oval at a slow pace which is nice for relaxing. I wish they had other options to rent a small bungalow instead of a full sized bungalow that starts at $300 and up which I think is a little steep but apparently enough people think it's worth it. At least they have lockers. The dining options are decent. The buffet at the Great Karoo was really good value and they also had good options for kids. The Reserve is the most expensive dining option and I wasn't impressed at all. The food was bland, when you can get a better tasting artichoke dip at Chili's than here, something is wrong. My family really wanted to like it here since it's only two hours away and seemed like a fun weekend get away. After two stays 6 months apart, my husband and I agree it's a huge miss. The water attractions are all very spread out and there are only two relaxing attractions for those who aren't thrill seekers. Understandably the water has high amounts of chlorine, however, it's so much that my kids can only tolerate the pool area for a few hours at a time before headaches, burning skin and eyes start. The only other regular attraction is the arcade, which gets expensive. We can easily spend $50 in an hour. The suite rooms are nicely laid out, we stayed in a two bedroom family suite once and the hospitality suite another time. The beds in both were not quite comfortable, which is unfortunate considering the cost per night. The hospitality suite, though spacious, was super noisy and the Murphy beds particularly were terrible. The big jacuzzi tub was a hit though. It's something to do during the long winters, but be warned that the resort prices do not equate quality. We won't be recommending Kalahari to our family and friends, and we won't be back. read more

Only giving it 1 star because zero stars isn't an option, but this place needs to be shut down so it can be upgraded/renovated. For $370/night with taxes and fees included this place felt like a cheap motel. My husband and I use to come here years ago, 2008-2011sh with our church as a retreat, we absolutely looked forward to it every year. The rooms were clean and felt clean. Room service was amazing. The resort looked and felt clean and it was such an awesome experience. Well I don't know what on earth has happened since then, but this is not the Kalahari we remember. We checked in super late after spending the whole day at Cedar Point (which is amazing), so all we wanted to do was shower and climb into bed. From the moment we walked down our hall it felt dirty and dingy. Once we got to our room it felt even dirtier. While the kids showered I checked our beds and there was black lint all over the duvet, and even hairs stuck between the sheets and the fitted sheets. Needless to say we slept on top of the duvet with just the brown blanket that was provided. The walls had black splatters and smudges in different parts of the room, the carpet was dirty and the room smelled musty. Next day my husband informs me that he couldn't sleep because there was a huge fly flying around buzzing the whole night so he got up to try to kill it only to find black mold spores on the AC unit. We brought it up as a concern at the front desk and they said they'd clean it for us. They did, but still left all the dirt and hairs stuck in the grates. It only gets worse from here tho. After spending most of our day at the water park which the kids loved we were ready to shower and head out to eat out at downtown Sandusky. When we arrived to our room we discovered that there was a leak from the upstairs room falling straight onto our bed (pillow). We grab the phone provided in the room to call the front desk and to our surprise the phone doesn't even work. Bed is soaking wet and we're frantically trying to fix the phone. Ended up using my cell phone to call and report the issue. When told that they'd send someone to fix it I asked what would happen to us while they're fixing it and they said we could leave the room (which they'd prefer) and go do our thing downtown, we asked about accommodations to another room since this was second issue of the day and they said, "well we will send someone to fix it and we can give you a late checkout for the following day" (we had paid for 2 nights). I asked "So were supposed to sleep with leak over our heads that isn't going to be a quick fix?" The man responded, "We will fix it." At this point I got annoyed and handed the phone to my husband to deal with this while I went to shower. In the middle of my shower the lights go off because of course now there's a short circuit thanks to the leak from upstairs. My husband asked to talk to the manager and she kept on insisting that they'd move us to a different room with a late checkout of 1 pm instead of 11 am, for the inconvenience. My husband then asked if it was possible to get a refund for the second nights stay because we were not taking any more chances. All my husband asked for was for time to pack up and leave which they agreed to give us an hour and half for that. While we were packing up maintenance came and told us that they found the "culprit"--a hole in the bathtub upstairs. All this to say it was a horrible experience, on top of that it was our first family vacation ever and kids were so bummed that we had to leave so suddenly after having told them that we would have more time the next day to do more things at the water park. Also, If you are at all concerned with COVID and guidelines being kept then stay away from this place. Absolutely no protocols in place at all (which we were honestly not expecting, but if you are then this isn't the place for you.) our advice: STAY AWAY. It's so not worth all that money. read more

Awesome Waterpark and resort. The room was clean and sufficient for 4 people. The housekeeper was friendly and refreshed room promptly. The water park area was lovely and lots of fun. We all really enjoyed the indoor/outdoor combo hottubs! The water slides were great and my kids loved the wave pool. It really wasn't too crowded during the week so go then if you can. Either go very early or late for the shortest lines. Some of the slides were out of order during our stay but we did other stuff. The water wasn't too cold or too hot. The arcade was fun and occupied over an hour or so. Didn't try the bowling, minigolf, or laser tag but they looked like fun. Didn't eat at the resort, so can't speak to that. We ate off property. If you go....definitely eat at Danny Boy's down the road....Sooo good. Will be back! read more

My boyfriend and I came to Kalahari the Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend. In general, we had a really good time. This is truly a resort, with tons to keep you occupied, even for two adults without kids. The lobby includes several restaurants, shops, and more. It leads into the lower level, which contains a gaming room, bowling, some more shops and restaurants, and entrances to the indoor and outdoor waterparks. The water parks were huge and offered tons of variety in slides-- ranging from solo body slides, family tube slides, and 2 person tube slides. Outside, they have a ropes course, zipline, and our favorite-- a zoo. The zoo allowed you to purchase (at a lofty cost) food to feed the zoo animals and easy to follow signs showed you which animals ate which food. They also offered animal encounters and photo opportunities for an additional fee. For adults, they have ample locations to purchase alcohol, including a 21+ indoor/outdoor hot tub with a swim up bar. My biggest negative was the lack of communication and organization. We experienced so much hassle with charging items to our room. The first few times we did it, it worked fine. Other times, they gave us a hard time and told us we could not charge items to our room since we had the wrong color wristband. Uh.. what? In all of the resorts I've stayed at, it has always been a given that you can charge to your room, especially when you're at a waterpark where you can't easily keep a method of payment on hand. I'm still unclear what a wristband color has to do with the ability to charge to your room or why I was given a no-charge wristband or at least made aware of the option to get the chargeable wristband if that was an option??? Additionally, they closed the outdoor waterpark around 1pm during our stay-- I imagine because of some stormy looking clouds in the distance, but it never once rained and the clouds passed quickly. However, the pool remained closed for at least several hours and the communication as to why or when we can expect it to reopen was nonexistent. Finally, the waterparks opened way later than what we would expect. If you're a person who is used to waking up at 6, 7, or 8, you'll find yourself very bored until the pools open. read more

Lodging: The rooms at this resort smell like a smoking room in a Motel 6 built in 1974. This was my second stay with a conference so I came armed with a bottle of Febreeze and a Febreeze candle. Didn't even touch it. A dirty room is one thing, but one that is dirty AND smells so badly that it is hard to breathe is just inexcusable. Facilities: I spent part of the week with my husband who was stuck there all week and didn't even get to use the pool. Both days closed. Not the water park, but the seperate Oasis pool for folks who may not have children in tow. Fifteen hundred primarily male patrons at a conference with wives who might like to lay by the pool and the pool is closed. Wrong. Food: Empty restaurants are because the food is atrotious. Eat somewhere else. Don't even bother trying I guarantee you will be throwing money away. I won't be staying here a third tme. 0 Stars read more

Our first time in Kalahari was during a hurricane. We wanted to get out and do something and this place is perfect especially when you can't hang outdoors. Our stay was amazing, rooms are very nice, staff is very friendly, the water park is huge and tons of things to do! My children enjoyed their section for little ones, and my husband enjoyed all the water slides. My favorite area is their wave pool, we had so much fun with the kids in there. Positive: The hotel has great indoor and outdoor water slides, lots to do including an arcade, mini golf, shops, very good restaurants. Negative: I take away one star due to the outrageous prices for food and drinks. We paid $200 at the Italian restaurant, 2 adults, 2 kids. Check your receipt, they added a dessert that we never ordered. Paid $68 at the outside bar for 3 drinks. They have great food, but there are many other restaurants within 1-3 miles of the hotel if you want to save money. I'm taking off another star due to other guests in our section of the resort (Sands area) who were smoking pot constantly! We couldn't go out on deck at night due to the other people outside smoking. The smell was in our hall way, coming through our air conditioning vents, outside on deck. Honestly, I don't think those guests did anything except smoke pot their whole trip. The hotel didn't do anything to stop it. We saw the same people smoking pot by the pool. We didn't complain to hotel because not sure which rooms they were in but it was multiple people. read more

I haven't even been to this park yet but the booking process was just deplorable. I booked the room on Feb. 12th. (for Mar. 25) and printed out the confirmation page. They canceled the room stating the card declined. I rebooked the same room (2nd booking) on the phone Mar 11th. They sent an email confirmation. They canceled the room again stating the card declined. They said they called and emailed me. I called back to rebook the room (2 days before trip) and they refused to give me the original room price and added over $2000 to the price. So after our family planned the trip, packed, and was ready to head out we get this huge bump in the road. So I rebook for May to get a better price. Still not the price we originally had, but ok. And this is the 3rd booking, mind you. For this booking, I literally had to remain on the phone with them, while checking my bank account, ask for a pdf file receipt, and guess what the payment goes through..same card as the first 2 bookings. Is it me or or did they decline the card to get more money for the room? Lets see if this booking gets canceled..stay tooned. I personally don't want to go to Kalahari at this point. This left a really bad taste on my mouth. But the kids want to go. I don't care how good or fun it is when we go bc this trip will be 2 things for me...my first and last time at this park. read more

I planned a first time weekend getaway with my 4 kids and wife to this resort and was beyond disappointed. Where to start with this nightmare! Arriving and check-in went ok, the gentleman behind the desk offered us an upgraded room with a balcony and fireplace at not additional charge when we asked for it. The elevator taking us up to floor 4 shakes, rumbles, and makes odd noises. Pretty sure it needs serviced and hasn't been in years. Walking down the hallway towards our room we were greeted with a white sheet hanging from the ceiling blowing back in forth with about 15 loud blowing fans pointing in multiple hotel rooms. The fans blew for hours which could be heard in our room. Now to the room itself, absolutely terrible for the price being charged you would be better off staying at a motel 8. The rooms are in need of some serious updating, the queen beds are more like full beds and it feels like you are sleeping on springs and wood. I would guess these matresses and boxsprings haven't been updated for at least 10+ years maybe more. The pillows feel like they are filled with air. We may have got 4 hours of sleep total over a two night stay, and were blessed with sore backs for a few days. The light in the bathroom takes about 30 seconds to come on after pressing the switch and we learned you had to press it hard to get the light to flicker on. The shower has about as much water pressure as a leaking faucet. The water park itself was nice but hard to enjoy on little sleep due to poor room conditions. The food was 5 out of 10 way to expensive but expected at a reaort. Stay away from the buffalo mac and cheese, it taste like they dumped a bottle of franks red hot into kraft mac and cheese with a few pieces of hard chicken. Over all I would not take my family back here and would not recommend to anyone unless they were just going up for a day at the water park and then going home. Its a shame because the place has potential if they would update and fix the hotel rooms. Owners needs to put some money back into this place or it isn't going to last much longer. read more

YOUR "PARK" IS A SCAM. We paid very good money to come to a waterpark and 1/3 of the attractions were shut down. 2 others kept "breaking" and we had to get out of line after 30 minutes due to that...2 times. To make things worse, the clueless staff didn't communicate anything to those in line and those GETTING IN LINE. My kids got to go on a total of 3 waterslides (total trips down) the entire time. The lines were crazy, you only had one food register open and then after we bought it there was NO ketchup which my kids love and so they didnt eat their food. YET beyond this, you had fully staffed "add on" attractions. So you could get that extra revenue yet not deliver on the attractions we pre paid for. Yet you can charge 55 bucks for 2 adult drinks....I was NEVER more dissapointed on a "vacation" than this. I will be telling EVERYONE about this. I could have gone to another park, stayed longer, had much more fun and spent the same amount of money. You should be ASHAMED of how you are ripping people off. I will be contacting the BBB and your state licensing boards about this. I saw kids on the smaller water slides unsupervised, trying to crawl UP the slides and getting ran into with NO lifeguard intervention. There are SOOO many more things that were wrong but you dont even deserve to hear about them, you should SHUT DOWN YOUR PARK until its properly staffed and functioning or at the very least, LIMIT CAPACITY so that people can actually ride the few things that are open without standing in line for an hour. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. There are MANY other similar options and I have been to several of them. They are WWWWAAAYYY better and they are lest costly on top of that! We have been coming here for more than 5 years. My niece loves the place and it is always her first choice of water parks. Overall, it is a fun and family oriented park. Plenty of slides and other things to do. Definitely try the flowrider, also a good place to sit and watch the kids try to "surf." Very entertaining. Only negative is the cost for food. I booked a presidential suite online for the past weekend at Kalahari in Sandusky. We checked in to our room and we were pleasantly surprised how clean and spacious it was. Our suit came with a hot tub on the balcony and when we noticed that it was not in working condition, the front desk moved us immediately to another room. The water park seemed bigger and cleaner than the location in Wisconsin and the life guards were hyper vigil watching and ensuring everyone was playing safely. Overall the experience was great for both kids and the adults and we'll definitely come back to this location. I only wish that there were more restaurant options near by since the dining choices inside the resort are few and expensive. read more

Came here for the second year in a row. The experience overall was average. The waterpark was very cold on our first night. The hot tubs were just above warm bath water. However on our second day the park was significantly warmer which was nice and the hot tubs were about the same. In the room. Our first room was really nice...until my boyfriend sat on the bed and a very fast, eel-like bug scurried out from the blanket. No problem switching to another room. In the 2nd room....as we were leaving for the park...the steel ring around the fire extinguishers in the ceiling fell out and hit my boyfriend in the head. The room was freezing throughout the night and we had to keep getting up to adjust the thermostat. The wind was howling through cracks in the door which was slightly distracting when we were trying to sleep. This was the biggest reason for the low rating due to my mother being epileptic...she cant wake up in a very cold room. We will be back. My cousin had came the week before and didn't get her room till 7:30 at night with a 1 hour wait to check in. This was not my experience. Everything was great check in was the easiest I've ever experienced, the park was clean and fun and room was also clean and no bed bugs. I checked We also had great service and privacy in the grand cabana. We had the best time and will be back! The food in the water park wasn't the best but venture into B- lux they had the best food and let me just go ahead and recommend the pretzel. The service there was impeccable! We had a really great time on Easter at Kalahari. I took my nephews and niece, 12, 10, and 6. All had a blast. There are some SERIOUS water rides there. I have to admit that they were pretty thrilling, even for an adult. They also do a good job of having appropriate water park activities for all ages. The place itself is enormous. It took us about 10 mins to walk from our room to the park- all inside. The room was really cool. Bedroom with a king sized bed and a living room with a pullout couch- and even a fireplace. It was cold that day, but there was a nice patio area that would have been nice had it been warmer and construction was complete outside. I'm excited to go back with a group of my adult friends. It seems like we could definitely have a blast there. Security does a good job of keeping the halls quiet at night and keeping an eye out throughout all of the entertainment there. My only complaint was the noise- the walls are pretty thin and we had a group of idiots next door, so that wasn't ideal when the kids were trying to sleep. read more

We recently stayed for a long weekend at the end of August for a quick vacation. When we made the reservation we paid a little extra for a view of the outdoor pool. When we got there and checked in they gave us a room on the ground floor which I thought was strange, but was thinking we had a sliding door out to the pool area or something. When we got to the room and opened the door it was not a view of the pool but rather an open farm field and a silo. I was very confused as I was certain we paid extra for a view of the pool. I called the front desk and a pleasant young man answered the phone. I explained to him that I thought perhaps we were in the wrong room. He reviewed our reservation, looked at the room we were given and proceeded to tell us we were definitely in the wrong room. He asked us to wait 5 minutes to get new keys and if it was just me and my husband. I said sure we can wait and yes it was just us. 5 minutes later he called me back with a new room number on the 4th floor. We headed up there and opened the room. It was definitely not the room we had paid for, it was WAY nicer! Fireplace, jacuzzi, and balcony overlooking the whole outdoor waterpark. I can't remember the young man's name that helped us but I am certain he gave us an upgrade. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you and that is the way you build loyal customers! This resort is definitely a hit with my family as far as entertainment. However the hotel part of the place could definitely use a deep clean. We have been there many times. The hotel area is starting to get the aroma of filth. As much as you pay to stay there, you would expect the place to be spotless. There was something sprayed all over the wall. Hairs in the shower & tub. Dirty q-tips on the balcony. The blow dryer was broken. The coffee maker was dirty. My daughter had requested extra blankets at the service desk to be delivered to the room, I also called for extra blankets for her. We were both promised that they would be delivered shortly...... they never came. $2500 for three nights in a double room was outrageous for what we actually got, then the expense of everything else on top of it has us looking at other venues for our next getaway. I think Mr. Nelson needs to spend more time bringing the parks up to day and focus on hospitality rather than so much of his time in Africa. read more

It sounds like a great place to take your family for Christmas.....NOT!!!!! Kalahari Resorts made over $100 million last year. The Sandusky resort is in worse shape than a lot of cheap motels. Here is an honest review that may change your thoughts on booking an outing. 1. Rooms: furniture falling apart or in such disrepair that it looks like it was bought at a garage sale. Totally out of date....still have 'spa tubs' in room but the fixtures are gross, loose, and poorly maintained (lots of mold in shower). You pay over $700 per night for a 3 room family suite and expect a nice experience. Our room had windows without operating curtains. They are poorly lit. The beds are the worst...mattresses sag and cause backaches due to their age. On the plus side...housekeeping was always there with fresh towels. (Remember they do NOT service rooms every day) 2. Water park: also in disrepair. Many rides were inoperative. Need patching in the pools, need less chemicals (had to leave after an hour because of the chemical fumes from the pool), expensive. $800 to rent a Cabana, which is little more than a sitting area with a frig and TV (which you can't hear because of the noise level.) 3. Food: unless you choose to leave the resort to visit local restaurants, be prepared to pay through the nose for average food. How about a $14 hamburger that is nearly burned? How about a poolside drink for $20? I suggest IF you stay here that you visit Berardi's Family Restaurant, one of the best meals we had. This place is more expensive than Disney world food and the quality is more like a fast food chain. Christmas buffet was $50 per person... 4. Overall experience: THIS IS THE LAST TIME WE BOOK THIS PLACE UNTIL TODD NELSON SPENDS SOME MONEY TO BRING IT UP TO MEDIOCRE STANDARDS. I CHALLENGE TODD TO STAY IN ONE OF THE SUITES FOR A WEEK. BUT NO, HE IS OFF TOURING THE WORLD ON THE MONEY WE SPEND AT THE RESORT. 5. Arcade: great place to blow through your bank account with the 'card credit system' they use. Grandson was able to trade his tickets for a 'Star Wars Trouble' game....worth at the most $15....but had to spend $230 to get enough tickets. My family and I had stayed from the 10th-13th. We had a cabana Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th. Our cabana usage on Saturday the 11th was awful. We had a tv that was unusable for about 6 hours. Our server called about 3 times to try and have someone come down to fix it. After about the 6 hour mark it was finally fixed and we were able to use the tv. The safe did not work which made us afraid to enjoy the waterpark due to our possessions possibly being stolen. After informing our server he again tried to resolve the problem for us. It again had taken more than 3 hours for the safe to be fixed to where it would be locked. We were informed we could not use certain number to make the safe usable. After multiple attempts at trying to use the safe and getting a low battery sign off and on it finally worked off and on. Our first server, Tim went above and beyond to provide good service despite how our cabana rental went and he was very apologetic and understanding to our frustration which was helpful. Our second server on Saturday informed us she was going to pass out due to the heat and that our orders would take over 20 minutes to be delivered to us. When we said we understood it took and hour to receive the food and another 15 minutes for her to bring our drinks after our food. The drinks were wrong (blended when we asked for on the rocks) and were also melted. After that we had to go to the snack hut and the bar ourselves to ensure our order was correct, received in a timely manner, and afraid of Inconveniencing our server who made us feel guilty for using her service. While attempting to contact the Ohio Kalahari I have been hung up on four times, was placed on hold finally on the 5th attempt for almost an hour and the nice woman at the desk felt so bad I waited so long to speak to the water park manager her about this sent me to his voice mail so I no longer had to sit on hold. I still have yet to hear back. We visited this location last year and got a cabana and had none of these issues. The customer service has been awful. read more

The pricing is out of this world! Spent over 650 dollars for one night in a standard 2 queen size bed room, with 5 girls and I. So the water park is nice, the girls had a nice time there. They enjoy the slides...but the wave pool closed down 2 times while I was there for feces and I'm not sure the sencond time for but they had the blue gloves on picking up something! The room had cob webs on the lights and splatter on the wall but the worst thing was the shower! One of the girls took a shower after swimming and she came out and said the water wasn't going down. There was probably 3-4 inches of water in the tub, and the drain plug was messed up....(wasn't sitting in the drain right. So I try to mess with it and notice hair! I pulled out hair for a while...I couldn't have been the first to notice! The water wasn't going down at all. So I pulled out what I could so it would drain but how disgusting! I attached a pic! This company should think a bit more on customer service and satisfaction then how much money and how many people can we get in and out of here! read more

First off 5 stars to the Spa!! Omg amazing and the girls were so friendly!!! This was my first time here. I wasn't really impressed. The wave pool took forever to go wish it was every 8 minutes instead of 15 which felt like 30. You will not get sound sleep as walls are paper thin so don't expect it. Money wise I just don't think it fit what we paid. I'm surprised there in nothing complimentary in the price. Food was over priced as well. read more

My family visited this resort in December and had an ok time. We have 3 kids - 6, 4 and 2 months. Room Review - 2 stars The room was probably one of the worst I've stayed in. The bathroom was gross! There was hair all over the walls and floor before any of us showered at all. The sink was not clean and the beds didn't even have fitted sheets over the mattress. Just normal sheets that came up whenever you'd roll over. The hallways smelled like the carpet needed to be shampoo'd. Honestly, I would not return to the resort based solely on the room cleanliness. Restaurant Reviews - 4.5 stars The first night we got pizza delivered to our room. Slightly overpriced for what it was but we received a lot and it was delivered quickly. Then we ate at the Reserve (kids eat for $0.99). My husband and I were both happy with our meals. Prices were decent as well. With a generous tip and a beer we only paid $50. Water Park Review - 3 stars We got to the park on a Sunday. It was a little crowded but the kids had a blast. Then Monday when we went back down the wave pool was closed. So annoying! No notification or anything. Also, my kids ended up with chlorine burns on their legs. I didn't notice to many kids with this so it may be due to my kids having sensitive skin. However, that kind of ruined it for my 4 year old. Slides were fun, arcade was a blast! Overall, we had a good time. However, we will not be returning. It was nice to get out of the house and feel the warm air in the resort while it was in the 20's outside. read more

First time here with one other person, I'll for sure be back!! Stayed a night and got the whirlpool suite with a fireplace, room was clean, and came with plenty of towels/pillows/amenities. Came on a Thursday and left Friday, checked in at 1 pm and our room was ready by then, Sizwe was very helpful at the front desk. The desserts at Java Manjaro were great for that late night sweet tooth! The Waterpark was great, all rides and slides were open, and plenty of lifeguards keeping watch, a safe fun and relaxing time! Regret not doing the Spa Kalahari, will do it next time for sure!! This Waterpark is perfect for families or just a weekend getaway with a special someone. Recommend getting a bite to eat elsewhere since the restaurants can be pricey. The arcade is pretty neat with tons of games, definitely something to do other than spending time in the Waterpark. read more

Front desk people are very welcoming but there are something I will say. We did 4 nights in there king sizes suits. We were welcome by gnats. Yes you read that right. We killed 10 and there was more flying around. Our room had a small kitchen with plates, bowls, cups, utensils, pots, pans, and silverware. The ovens and cabinets you can tell they never clean them out after each guests. It's so gross that I change my mind cooking food cause who knows if they ever clean all the other kitchen items. I made a called 2 days before arrival after hearing they had bed bugs issues months ago. When I arrived the front desk lady told me that my room was deep clean and they have actual team here in the building that takes cares of the issues. Obviously they didn't deep clean the kitchen. The waterpark first thing buying a locker for $20. If you are staying for more then 2 nights. You can keep your locker key but if you return your key the day you got your locker. You will get $5.00 back. If you don't return your key you will not get your $5.00 back. Little kids HAS to be in a life jacket at all times. If you don't put a life jacket on your child the lifeguard will keep blowing the whistle to make sure your child is not in the water without a vest on. Also please don't be that parent thinking it's okay your child has a life jacket on and they are in the wave pool but your gonna sit 2 rows back not watching your child. Just cause the lifeguards are their to watch everyone including your child but it's nice to have second eyes on your child cause they aren't the only ones in the pool. I think you guys need to post the hot tube rules inside and not just outside. I have watch 5 times kids going into the pool without adult. There needs to be someone walking around that area to make sure rules are being followed. The arcade place is awesome. Lots of games, laser tag, put-put golf, and escape room. The food area inside the waterpark $25 for a large pizza. If you have a weak stomach don't eat the pizza. It made my stomach upset and same with my fiancé. The pizza was super greasy and there was hardly enough cheese on it. But the bar area in the waterpark has some awesome drinks. The food by the arcade wasn't that great either. More food down the street which has affordable price and you know the food won't mess up your stomach. It will be nice to have allergies friendly food and deserts for kids and adults to enjoy. While I'm thinking about this the lifeguard around the lazy river on 12/18/19 y'all face tells us you are miserable. Not a SINGLE ONE No smiles or even act like you enjoyed your job. Is it that hard to say Good Morning or wave to little kids. I work at a Trauma Hospital and I acknowledge everyone I come by because I want them to have a good experience even if the day isn't going so well. I saw a lifeguard at the lazy river sitting in a chair just looking bored out of there mind!! When you are checking out it will automatically check you out at 11AM. So you don't have to worry about going up to the front desk. All in all this was a okay stay but I hope things will get approved better as time goes on. read more

The facility is gorgeous. We were blown away by the entrance, room, setup, etc. I would have given this a 5 star because it has all the makings of an incredible place! But the operations makes me think there are kinks under the surface we stayed for less than 24 hours and in that time, the following. 1. Fireplace wasn't working, which they quickly fixed 2. Hinge on toilet was broken in our room....again, not a huge deal but surprising for such a nice facility. 3. Asked for a toothbrush which they would send right up and it took 4 hours to be delivered to our room (showed up around midnight) 4. Ordered a simple sandwich from the deli and that took 25 minutes despite there being no one in line. 5. Water facilities were really nice. Overall, it's a great facility but I would much rather have returned to great wolf lodge for $70 less per night. Kalahari just isn't worth the price until they get their operations nailed down. read more

I do NOT write reviews but is necessary to write this one! The WORST customer service I have seen!! I spoke to Fran and a supervisor asking if I could return 3 UNUSED wrist bands as my family would not be there for the first 2 nights, of our 3 night stay. Absolutely no credit or willingness to help...amazing NOTHING they could do to help!! I booked a 3 night stay for the 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite for 6 adults (1, 491.00). My son booked a 3 night stay for a 2 queen bed room. We checked in at the same time. He was UPGRADED to the suite like I paid for at no additional cost. When I spoke with both employees I was told they upgrade rooms. So, if you want to stay here, book the cheaper room and get the upgrade!! It was a terrible feeling we WASTED so much MONEY and they were not willing to even work with me on trying to give me a credit on the unused wristbands!! Stay at a different hotel and buy a water park pass, you'll save more money to use elsewhere! read more

This review is for the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Sandusky, OH near the Milan Road area and along the tourist route for the theme parks. We stayed 1-night during the fist week of August 2017, following a previous night's stay at another water theme park the previous night. This location and venue appears by size and design to have been a flagship location for the Kalahari chain. It is YUGE inside and has a lot of extras not seen at comparable location in Pennsylvania. There is an indoor portion, which has a large walkway through the central area; and an overhead sun-deck which offers visibility to all areas of the indoor. There are small bars inside for adult beverages and food options, as well. All are resort-level high prices. Lines can be long and employees don't seem to show a lot of motivation to move things along. The outdoor is a large feature, with newly opened slides and tubes for adrenaline junkies. The kiddie-pools are large and well-kept with lots of features. There is also an overhead zip-line for both kids and adults, as well as, climbing walls and even a petting-zoo with animals (pay extra fees). Overall, we had a great stay here and would do it again, with a coupon concession or a significant discount below the $250.00/night average pricing. We were able to do an early check-in following reservation and waited about 30-minutes in a long and rather inefficient line to get going. The Candy Hut is awesome and drew a lot of attention. Restaurants are on the pricey side with small portions for the costs. Maybe better to eat-out along the row of choices outside of the theme park? This was a GREAT OPTION for this venue. read more
