I've been wanting to try Kalaveras for a long time! They have multiple location around the IE. This location is in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. On a weekday at around 5pm, there was not many people dining yet. The host had seen us and opened the door to let us in. The restaurant inside is so colorful and vibrant. Seating is dark and there is tables and bar seating. It combines well with the atmosphere. We were immediately checked in and led to a table. We got chips and salsa for the table. The table had small plates and forks and spoons already. The servers are very friendly and attentive. The menu is laminated with one side being food and other side being drinks. I chose the birria and my boyfriend chose the green enchiladas with chicken. We let the waiter know about his allergies and he told us he would let the kitchen know. We shared a drink, the Verano Sin Ti. We added vodka to it per the waiters recommendation. It was very good. As the evening wore on, more people started coming in for dinner. Soon after, our food was served. So good! Birra was hot and served with beans, orange rice, and corn tortillas. The green enchiladas were also served with beans and orange rice. Portions are a good. Everything was just delicious! Our total came out to around $66, which I thought wasn't bad at all. Staff is great and we enjoyed our time. Thank you!

Upscale vibe mecican restaurant. Service and food were exceptional. Enjoyed enchiladas Verde. The presentation was only surpassed by the amazing flavor. My friend enjoyed albondigos soup and was quite pleased. We will definitely return!

Great vibes , amazing drinks and even better service!! Def will be back .

After helping our oldest daughter move into her new apartment in the Mission Grove neighborhood of Riverside, your favorite Yelp correspondent and gang were famished. Kalaveras, located three miles down Alessandro Boulevard in Moreno Valley, answered the bell! To our pleasant surprise, Kalaveras is apparently owned and operated by the same folks who operate MARIPOSAS, the stunning modernistic, butterfly-themed restaurant in Covina that has become our favorite new Mexican restaurant of late. Upon entry, you're immediately greeted by revelrous Dia De Los Muertos themed decor painted in eggplant purples and cyan turquoises. Despite it the outset of Saturday Night date night, 5pm, we were immediately seated at a corner booth and the drinks began circulating quicker than it takes a drinking game to start at a frat house! My daughter, her lovely BF Elijah and my bride of 28yrs demolished a quintet of lime margaritas, while I stuck with my obligatory Diet Coke, er, Pepsi. For food, my daughter chose a salmon salad entree, while Eli sported a two-item combo. Leti my lovely bride sampled the enchiladas verdes. As for me, once I'd intuited that the menu was strikingly similar to Mariposas, I instantly pinpointed the unctuous Quesabirrias Tacos. Pros: Outstanding Service- Our server was exemplary! Wish I'd gotten his name, but it eluded me. I hope my description does him justice so that management can suitably convey our appreciation- He was a middle aged, mustachioed Hispanic gentleman with a sleight paunch. He kept our drinks topped off, anticipated our need for extra napkins and even brought separate, wee takeout containers for my consomme and chili oil when I was unable to finish my entree at one seating. Drinks Packed a Stiff Kick- Kudos to the bartender for not skimping on the tequila! All three marg drinkers lavished the caliber of their drinks. Cons: Obligatory Gratuity?!- In nearly forty yrs of dining out, tonight's meal represents the only time I've ever been assessed an obligatory 18% gratuity fee...for a party of less than six. Mind you- I'm a gracious tipper who relishes rewarding good service...often tipping up to 25% of my bill to honor the hard work of our under-appreciated wait staff. But, while I'd expect an automatic gratuity fee to be assessed for larger groups (typically six or more) I was a little unpleasantly miffed or surprised that Kalaveras openly gashed me for the service charge even though our party was comprised of four of us. The restroom was decently clean and stocked. Our bill, for four entrees, seven alcoholic beverages, one fountain drink and taxes/gratuity, was $292.78.

I'm a loyal customer who eats at the Moreno Valley location as well as the one in Rancho Cucamonga pretty often and I'm a big fan of your food and service. Unfortunately, I had a really bad experience last night at the Moreno Valley location on August 19th, that was a complete change from what I'm used to. My main problem was with the Quesa Birria Tacos I ordered, this time from the happy hour menu. I've had this dish many times and the onions have always been served separately on the side. I do NOT eat raw onions. This time, they were placed inside the tacos. When I told the waitress it was wrong, she insisted that this is how the tacos are always made, which was confusing since it contradicted from all my past visits. Beyond that, the service was just poor. Our waitress rarely checked on us, and I had to request help from other servers twice. My side dish was also forgotten until I brought it to the waitress attention. It was the last item brought to the table buy then I was ready to go. The situation got worse when the waitress said my order might not be replaced because happy hour was over, even though I ordered it while it was still going on. She suggested I might have to pay full price for a new taco order. My sister had to step in and point out that the mistake was the restaurant's, not hers. I asked to speak with a manager...I was told there wasn't one on. I was told a staff member would come and talk to me. But the waitress intercepted the person and after the waitress spoke with him, he just walked away without ever coming to our table. It felt like they didn't care about my problem. Because of all these issues and the way my complaint was handled, I didn't feel comfortable eating the tacos I ended up paying for. I'm going to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I hope you'll look into what happened so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Thank you

Izamar was our waitress and she was so kind and attentive. Party of 7; and she was on top of it, making sure drinks were full and nothing was missing her recommendations were also helpful. Appreciate her kindness to the kids and my dad with the never ending questions. Enjoyed being able to watch a game and listening to great music. Will be back and hopefully can be seated in her areq again...

First time here, and honestly, the place was just okay. The queso fundido had way more veggies than cheese and chorizo, which was disappointing. My ceviche plate was mediocre--the flavor was lacking, some of the shrimp pieces were tough, and it had an overwhelming amount of onion (felt like they sliced a whole one onto the plate). My buddies water had a nat too. Don't get me wrong they apologized and asked what they could do better but just a bad experience with the food. Chips and salsa were the highlight of the meal, and the service itself was good. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations, so I don't think I'll be coming back.

Super party like atmosphere. Fun and super loud. It's not a place to have conversations but if you want to have a wild party this is fantastic. I feel like the food is more like el Torito style. I'm more of an authentic Mexican food person. The food is good but not great to me. So for me I wouldn't go back here knowing my own unless i was invited to a party of some sort. I hit the fish tacos and they were really good. 4/5 stars The beans and rice were subpar as far as flavor goes. It almost seem massed produced. 2/5 stars The horchata is. It made from scratch and didn't taste great at all 1/5 stars The side of street corn was very expensive for the amount you receive but it tasted good. 4/5 stars. All in I'll it's a decent place to hang out with friends to celebrate and have a lively experience. I heard the drinks from the bar are pretty good but I did t try any.

Absolutely great meal between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM on a Saturday Combination plate with chili on hole, chicken, enchilada, and Barbacoa taco and a dragon roll ! Greeted immediately at front door and seated promptly. The server was a pleasant and knowledgeable. It was a great greeting, service was incredibly fast and meal was delivered quickly and very hot absolutely great service. The music was Eddie reasonable level to be able to hold a conversation. It's a beautiful restaurant I would recommend to anybody. Bathrooms are kept very well.

Honestly when I first tried Shindigs, I absolutely loved it. The dishes, the drinks, the vibe,…read moreeverything seemed on point. However, I've been back a number of times & while I love the restaurant, it's seriously struggling when it comes to food & service. The last straw came when our family came to eat there after going to the cemetery together with my dad for my mom's birthday. She passed in 2022 so we usually go as a family & then go out to eat afterwards. It was relatively empty with one large party finishing up their dessert & a party of 4. We were a party of 14. So we waited so we could be seated together. We asked to be seated in the main dining area at a large group of tables together but were told that those tables were "reserved." So we waited about 20 minutes & the party of 4 left first. So we all sat there next to the pool table. We got menus & the waitress took our drink orders. It took 25 minutes more in the relatively deserted restaurant for the waitress to take our food orders. Once she took our orders we waited...and waited...and waited. Meanwhile the restaurant is starting to get busy. Everyone around us that came after us was getting their food. But not any of us. Finally, 2 of our orders came out. Then about 15 minutes later 2 more orders came out. It continues like this & I'm at the other end of the table & still waiting for our food. It's been 2 hours now & I'm hangry. My sister finally got her side dinner salad. Yes you got that right-- she waited 2 hours for a side dinner salad! She also ordered pasta & took one bite and you guessed it--the dish was barely warm. She had waited 2 hours for a dinner salad and cold pasta. The waitress offered to have it remade but she wasn't willing to wait an eternity for them to redo her dish so she asked the waitress to just have them reheat it. My other sister finally got her salad which was an actual meal with cold chicken and other veggies in it (smart girl I guess because it being cold wasn't a problem). After that, the cold pasta was brought to the table reheated. They finally brought my dish which was an appetizer platter that was supposed to include jalapeño poppers, pectaters with pulled pork, fried pickles and onion rings. I had ordered this because my husband had ordered the Mac & Cheese with the pulled pork & we intended to share because he loves the poppers. I noticed that there were more pecktaters & no poppers. I asked the waitress where the poppers were. She replied, "Oh they ran out of those so they substituted the pectaters." I kind of lost it by that point because I'd already waited 2 1/2 hours for an appetizer platter (which usually comes first not last). I said, "That would have been good to know BEFORE I ordered. The whole reason I got this as a meal was because my husband loves the poppers." She replied "Let me check & see if I can deduct $5 off or you can order something else." Honestly I was NOT going to wait forever for them to make something else so we just took the $5 off because by this time we had been there 3 hours. So I had all these pecktaters which I did not eat & by this time my hunger had passed & I didn't feel like eating a bunch of massive potato balls. I ate the onion rings & fried pickles had two bites of Mac & cheese & I was done. Seriously, in what restaurant universe do you substitute something in an order WITHOUT asking the customer?! I'm sorry but in the restaurant business, the customer is king. They are the reason you're in business. While I realize we were a large party, it was so vexing that the kitchen couldn't get our orders out while everyone that came later was getting their food. Then some of us got cold food (my sister's pasta wasn't the only dish that came out cold). It's just not good service. Also bringing out dishes 2 at a time with 10-15 minutes in between & bringing out cold food is not acceptable. Substituting other items for what was ordered without asking the customer is also not acceptable. This was an important occasion for my family and spending so much time watching other people get their food and waiting so long for ours was disappointing. My family never wants to eat there again. This was an EPIC FAIL. It's not the first time that the service was subpar since my first visit. I've gone with just my husband & had a similar experience with slow service & cold food & watched employees on cell phones ignoring us. I kept giving it chances because it really is a cool place but I just can't justify spending money for food and service like this. I will not be going here again. That's pretty sad because if the kitchen got their act together & the service was remarkably better I would love eating here. When they get the food out hot and cooked right it's definitely really good. But I'm sorry I can't pay good money for more miss than hit.

The two sides I picked were the Brussels sprouts -- which were fire -- and the mashed potatoes. I LOVE Thanksgiving, and it gave it that nostalgic homemade holiday vibes. We waited nearly two hours for a single drink and eventually left because the restaurant was so disorganized. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, assuming they were still working through the challenges of opening a new business. Months later, I decided to give them another chance, and sadly it was the same experience. The restaurant has so much potential, but it appears to be severely understaffed. Employees seem overwhelmed, confused, and there doesn't appear to be any clear organization or management in place. To make matters worse, the food arrived cold and was disappointing in quality. Long wait times might be understandable if the food made up for it, but that simply wasn't the case. I really wanted to like this place because the concept and atmosphere are great, but after two poor experiences, I can't recommend it. Save your time and money and visit Ay Mi Pa in Riverside instead. You'll get better service, better food, and a much better overall dining experience.
