What an amazing surprise after a skydiving in Perris we were looking for a great meal. We could not find a good restaurant in Paris so we decide to drive to Riverside search in yelp see what was a best option and we found Kalaveras when we arrive. We saw the name change to Mariposa, but we wanna give it a tried , what a great surprise our Server Andres meet us in the door. Quickly took us to a VIP table. He explain the menu and did recommendations we try: the guacamole was amazing the corn really tasty and sweet for my main course. I try the shrimp enchiladas the best I ever had All the drinks were recommended by my Server. He did not disappointed I end up having five drinks, including my birthday drink shout out for Andres one of the best experience with service 10/10 . Thank you again. For a such a good dinner and a great experience for my birthday . See you guys soon
Kalaveras was pretty packed for a weekday lunch that wasn't their taco Tuesday special promotion. The interior is a loud but large dining area with interesting design, but overall had a lively atmosphere. We were waiting to order for about 15 minutes, but it was a busy day, so it made sense for the wait times. We got some water and eventually ordered our food. The carnitas and chicken tacos were good, but not what I would go out of my way for. The sweet potato fries were fine and had a sweetness to contrast with the salty. I would have to call ahead to pick up food for my next visit 30 minutes beforehand in the future, but maybe when I'm in the mood, I'll grab some food from here.
Today's visit here was in celebration of my son's birthday. The lovely Itzel was absolutely amazing in her service after a few drinks and just enjoying celebrating the food and drinks she was so thoughtful to gather the staff on shift and they all sang happy birthday .. I have visited two other locations and this Kalaveras is my third location. You must visit please be sure to check in with Itzel.
This place is my favorite the drinks are strong & good the kali burrito and the shrimp tacos are my favorite things my waitress Fatima is the best her customer service is A1... so if your in the area stop by there happy hour is from 3-7
The Kalaveras brand has been expanding like crazy lately so I was interested to see what the hype was about. Once you walk in you're hit in the face with loud music. They're definitely going for the party vibe here. The space is pretty large and the walls are lined with booths that look down on everything. Thinking the emphasis would be on cocktails, I didn't have the highest expectations for the food. Thankfully I was completely wrong. I've only had the wet burrito and the Kali Burrito and they were both incredibly tasty. Not skimpy with the ingredients and full of flavor. The Kali Burrito nets you a side of black beans and some plantains. I really recommend that! Service has always been friendly, even when my dumb azz had to go back the next day because I left my credit card there....and looking at their box of credit cards left there I am FAR from the only one. This particular building on Spruce seems to be cursed as it's been a few different things already. Hopefully Kalaveras sticks. The vibe is pretty cool, the service is good and most importantly the food is excellent. Maybe not for everyone but give it a chance! Definitely recommended!
Made a reservation and was sat quickly. Loud environment with a vibrant energy of Latin music which is fun. A waiter brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Our drinks came out a little while after and we order guac to accompany the chips. When they brought out the chips and guac we started to eat it, but then realized the basket of chips had a bundle of lint/hair hanging off/in it. When we told a food runner he just said "oh" and then took the chips. (Wtf) After we ordered our food it all came out at random about a couple minutes apart versus all together. The burrito I had was more rice than meats or beans, and it didn't come customized how I asked for it. Finally after asking for the check it took around 20 minutes to get it sorted and pay for our meal. They also have a service charge added as a tip which is fine if the service was actually good. TLDR; THE FOOD IS OVERPRICED AND THE SERVICE IS TRASH. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MEDIOCRE FOOD AND A LONG WAIT WITH SERVICE CHARGE.
Had an amazing first time experience!!! Andre's was amazing with his service with the party!! Will be returning the food was amazing! Came for a birthday dinner and the birthday experience that they put on alone is worth coming back for!! The drinks were also worth the price!

I ordered the wrong thing here :( We came here for lunch on a week day and it was still a colorful fun atmosphere. Each eating area is colorfully decorated and there are screens through with music videos playing. I lost count of how many Bad Bunny videos played and we were happy! Service was slow at first, it seemed to take too long for someone to come by and take our drink order. But this was my first mistake. I went with a classic michelada. It was ok, just kind of boring compared to my husband's margarita flight. The flight came with four half size margaritas: jamaica, classic, mango and a spicier one. They were beautifully presented and tasted yummy. My next mistake was ordering the pepita salad. It was ok but again boring. I especially didn't care for the creamy dressing - it would have been much better with a vinaigrette or even just the salsa on the table with a squeeze of lime. Sometimes I need to not go with the healthy option and get what I really want. I should have ordered the enchiladas or taquitos - both were much tastier. My girls loved their quesabirria tacos and our daughter in law's sushi roll was gigantic and flavorful, she loved it. My husband ordered the taquitos and shared with me :) Service was friendly, and once our drink orders were taken, attentive. I would definitely come back here especially at night when I will bet it's more of a club like atmosphere- but still a family friendly restaurant.
Finally, been trying to make it here for months! I heard it got crowded so I decided to make a 6:30pm reservation. I arrived and we were seated right away. Upon walk-in it was dark and loud. They play music videos for music. We were seated in the bar, which was ok. I looked at the menu and once the waitress arrived I ordered the Margarita flight and 2 chicken tacos. My drinks arrived and they were all different and delicious. Got me a little buzz. The chicken tacos were pretty big and delicious. My only complaint is being charged $1.99 for onions and cilantro. I think it's petty for a restaurant to charge for things like that. But all in all it was a nice night.
Do not come here if you want to chat with friends. Music was ridiculously loud. Service from our waitress was great. Food on the other hand was just not it. Ordered the dragon roll. The entire roll was extremely greasy. Individual rolls fell apart, too spicy too eat. One roll, one miche, one agua fresca and one shot $70 (with gratuity added)
WOW! I was blown by some of the dishes we ordered at this restaurant. The ceviche was really fresh and so good. My absolute favorite item that we ordered was the Dragon Roll. This roll is so big and it's on the appetizers section of the menu but you can definitely order it as meal in itself. I order the Jarito Loco drink which refreshing and delicious as well. The restaurant is decorated really cool as well which makes for a cool experience. The service was pretty fast as well. I definitely hope to come back to this location.
Stopped by while traveling through Riverside. Service was so friendly and attentive. Cool decor with skulls and art everywhere. We arrived just as the Sunday brunch buffet was ending but ordered off the regular menu. The buffet looked so good! We got fish tacos and carnitas tacos, both very simple but sooooo good! Tortillas tasted fresh made and melted in my mouth. Fish and carnitas cooked to perfection. Just bummed we don't live closer to come back. Just what we were looking for. Thank you!

FOOD 6/10 DRINKS 10/10 SERVICE 9/10 FOOD WAS MEDIOCRE AT BEST. QUESABIRRIAS HAD NO FLAVOR, COLD, SOGGY. THE CONSOMÉ WAS VERY OILY. CEVICHE WAS DRY NO FLAVOR. NEVER GOT THE TOSTADAS THAT ARE OFFERED ON MENU. CARNE ASADA WAS COLD AND FLAVORLESS. Not to mention the inside of the restaurant is extremely hot everyone was sweating including the servers they kept wiping their foreheads with their hands and using the menus to fan themselves. The music was obnoxiously loud you had to yell at each other to even keep a conversation going. Not to mention you really couldn't hear your server over the loud music. Margarita flights are bomb. Definitely not worth the $200 spend. WOULD (((NOT))) RECOMMEND OVER ALL 7/10 read more

Wow, first time at this neighborhood restaurant for dinner. The food was seasoned perfectly and the plating of the food was absolutely beautiful. Service was fabulous. There was always someone there to help us if we needed anything which we didn't because we were taken so well care of. The atmosphere was equally amazing. Music was lively and not so loud you couldn't hear each other talking. My brother is hearing impaired and uses a walker and we had absolutely no problem getting around. I can't wait to go back. I usually never leave reviews but this place is new. With that said, everything about it makes me and my friends not want to come back. There was about 20 tables full and food still came out fast, so that's a positive. But the food isn't anything to rave out. Mediocre at best. Its obnoxiously loud, you literally need to yell at the people at your table.. the server took everyone's order but mine. The entire time we couldn't even hear our server speaking to us. It was hot inside. Just so many things one after another that made it a quick, let's hurry up and get out of here. God forbid it's someone birthday when you are here. Jesus. Oh and there was a music video with a fully naked chick shown in the entire video, so that was at least cool. read more

Hello! I absolutely loved it here!! We ordered drinks which were amazing. Customer service was great. For an appetizer we decided to try the esquite, It was good but a little over priced. I decided to order the taquitos appetizer as my main course And holy moly it was amazing!!! Very filling. My husband had the carnitas plate and he wouldn't stop raving about how amazing it was. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a night out! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Kalveras while I was visiting along beach California on a work trip. They have an amazing margarita flight that has wonderful flavors and the margaritas are strong. I also enjoyed the free chips and salsa. The chips were made fresh and so warm when they arrived at my table. The salsa tasted homemade and had a nice kick to it. Lastly I wrapped up my time her with a chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. The chicken it self was so juicy and they paired it with some guacamole, pico and this orange sauce. I preferred dipping them in the free salsa already on my table. Our first time here today for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised. It is a very colorful place and the music is louder than most restaurants, but I'm sure they attract a younger crowd, especially at night. We enjoyed our food and our server and the manager made us feel very welcomed. We didn't get any alcohol but they have margaritas during the week for $4.99 which would be nice to try next time. Loved both of the salsas they brought with the chips. Great flavors and a nice little kick although not too spicy. We shared the chicken nachos which were big and also had a carne asada taco. My daughter had the taquitos and really liked them. Good food and portions at a reasonable price. Great service too. We will return. read more

2nd time eating here, tacos have been consistently delicious. Need to venture out and try more stuff but it's hard to argue with happy hour prices. Sandra was very helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere at 5 pm is mellow and comfortable. read more

This place is aesthetically pleasing nicely decorated. Three stars as it is too loud inside, music beyond loud just for dinner no one is dancing it's so tightly packed in there it's too crowded. This place don't do reservations so the wait is long. Highly recommend they start a reservation policy make people put a deposit it's too crowded and the parking lot is shared with other businesses it's just nonsense. Anyways food was good had a fish Taco, it was perfect size served on a king size corn tortilla also ordered the ceviche which was very tasty I thought it was appetizer size nope full portion pretty good for 18.00. Had one drunk La Cucu 14.00 was decent over priced tho. Over all food was good but with the wait over an hour and so loud I'll pass on this place. Sorry guys didn't make the cut for me will never come back during dinner maybe lunch mid week see how that vibe is. Idk prob not. read more

Been excited to come out and check out this Kalavera spot (Riverside) for a while now. We where greeted and welcomed inside upon arriving. This place is new so it was spotless clean. Server (Natalie) was very nice and attentive. The plates we ordered where all delicious and happy hour started at 3! Would definitely come back and I would recommend this spot! A plus was that the music was kept at a volume where out table could have a conversation. Thumps up. read more

Came to try this place for my brother in law's birthday. It was fantastic we had a great time our server's name was Jaz she did great we were a party of 18 and the food was delicious and our drinks were never empty. I was a little skeptical because I saw the reviews on here the music is loud but we were louder and had a great time it's a great birthday party atmosphere and they sing nice and loud so everyone knows it's your birthday and it's time to celebrate. This place definitely lives up to the hype! I was a little worried that I was only going to like the drinks but the food was so good! Flavorful and delicious I almost got seconds! Ooofff the tamarind Margarita was perfect: sweet, tarty and refreshing. I needed to get another after my first. We started off with the potato tacos and MY GOD; we literally inhaled them off our plates because they were to darn good. Very nostalgic flavors( I'm very much Hispanic) I was enjoying every minute of my time here. Ate my very sizable burrito and ended the night with another margarita. They have sushi here guys. Sushi! We came for my little sisters 21st birthday and had a blast here. We had a great server named Leslie who made sure we had everything we needed, conversed with us and had fun. The food got to us really fast and it tasted amazing, 10/10 would recommend the enchiladas. Some of the workers came out and sang happy birthday to my sister and made her day really special. Came in on a Wednesday afternoon for a Happy Hour with a group of six. I ordered an asada taco and a barbacoa taco. I also tried a quesobirria taco. My tacos were pretty good and decent flavor wise. However, the meat was not hot when it arrived. The service was also not very good. We had to request common items like napkin's multiple times. This was with the restaurant half empty. I'd hate to see it during a rush. I'd also skip the drinks, we ordered probably 5 different types and no one was a fan. Overall, if you're looking for a place with a cute aesthetic, this could work. The music is blaring the entire time. Giving it 2.5/5 solely for the tacos. read more

I only get my food for take out but I am happy I found this new place to get my lunch. Very tasty, clean and doesn't take them too long to prepare my food. The inside of the restaurant is also very nice and esthetically pleasing. read more

Great Drink prices for Brunch. Bartender told me prices have been updated to $25 not $30 so even better. Came here for brunch and to watch the air show. Staff very friendly and helpful with drink or food selections. Good vibe read more

The food and drinks were great. I went for my birthday and I ask if thy have a special for that so they brought a desert and some shots just when we were going... they miss a couple of orders ( We ask for beer and food arrived after we ask to the waitress a couple of times for them)... when we recieved the bill they wanted to charge 75$ for the birthday shots (when they didn't say how much was for it and didn't say that they were not part of the birthday... by the end a waitress (called santiago, that wasn't with us all night and just appear when we refused to pay for the drink) told us that if "we really believed it was for free"... when we call the manager the first thing he said was to paid half and half... by the end they charged 25$ and they didnt admit their mistake. read more

The food never disappoints and the service from Izzy is top notch. She took care of us and had recommendations that did not disappoint. This is my second time here and I see myself being a patron at this dope establishment. Yes it's loud but so are backyard parties so just live a little. read more

We went on a Friday at 6:30 and were Seated immediately for a party of 6. Our server was Izzy/Itzel. Sorry if that's not it but SHE WAS GREAT! on top of her game. Always available, always friendly and didn't miss a beat. Also the bus boys (are they still called that) were always walking by taking dirty cups, plates, keeping the table clean. I really love this about a restaurant. Ok the food, I'll say the chips were good, salsa delicious but the Quesa birria tacos- so delicious!!! I think the serving of 3 on a plate is perfect. I was full with just 2. The plate comes with garnish of lime, onion and cilantro and a spicy chili oil. The dipping juice was fire hot and a perfect complement to the tacos. This place is absolutely horrible. We made reservations ahead of time for my cousins birthday it was for Sunday 12pm. We get there and they gave what was supposed to be our section away because supposedly us and the other party had the same name. ( I don't believe it for a second ) so they shoved us in the corner of the restaurant by the restrooms. We had to beg for service. Our server Sandra was absolutely horrible I do not recommend at all. She had the rudest attitude, and we had to get up and ask everyone else for drinks because she wasn't taking care of our party. Mind you there's over 14 of us who are getting charged $40 a piece to have bottomless mimosas that are not bottomless since she's taking over 30 min to check on us every time. I think because the automatic tip she gets she slacked off. Then we asked for one more round of mimosas and I watched the bartender try to give us a whole jug of just orange juice. So I made him go get a bottle of champagne and put some in there, I couldn't believe it. I'm glad I watched him because that was insane. Then our bill comes and it's over $1300. We were all so dissatisfied with where we were sat without even trying to get accommodation for something better, no discount, literally nothing. So I talked to the manager and the best he could do was take $50 off the bill. This place is a literal joke. From the server, to the bartender, to the manager. This is the type of place you should avoid all together. Never ever again. read more

No they don't let you do reservations after a certain time I believe
Yelp or your business removed my question? We visited this location for the first time on Sat 5/14/22 and realized after we left our bill included a surcharge on top of the gratuity we added. No server or host told us of surcharge. Is this standard
They do this when a bill is over 200 I believe. I think it's only written on the receipt I could be wrong
Is this spot kid friendly?
They dont have an age minimum, but they do play explicit music videos.
