My review is based on the rooftop bar. We went last night and my first impression was "it's sooo pretty". It's got a nice view, nice ambiance, good 90's-2000s music and then towards the end of the night some Bad Bunny and Spanish rock, It had comfortable seating options. We only came here for drinks and to watch the sunset. Our server was so kind, friendly, and patient (wish I got her name). My husband wasn't sure what he wanted and she offered a few suggestions that were pretty tasty. She also kept checking in on us even though we weren't ordering food. I normally give credit where credit is due, but this restaurant completely ruined our Mother's Day brunch. We had a 1:00 PM reservation and were told after checking in that the wait would only be 20-30 minutes. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes and were then seated at a tiny table for six people with the sun directly hitting us the entire time. Our waitress greeted us with only one menu and said she didn't have any more. We asked about bottomless mimosas and she responded, "I don't know, I saw one person doing it but I don't think so." How does a server not know whether the restaurant offers bottomless mimosas? We ordered drinks almost immediately after being seated, but they didn't arrive until 2:10 PM. It is over an hour later , while tables seated after us already had theirs. The food service was even worse: 2:09 PM: only 1 out of 6 meals arrived No silverware or napkins were provided We had to ask another server, who placed loose forks and knives directly on the table and said he only had 3 napkins 2:30 pm only 2 more plates came out Another plate arrived later by 2:33pm while 2 people still had no food at all By the time my food arrived, the waffle was dry and stiff, and the "chicken and waffles" looked like one chicken strip cut into four tiny pieces. And was $22. My son's burger came out much later, and my husband's food didn't arrive until 2:50 PM which was another $22 dry chicken and waffle plate. At that point we asked for the manager because our entire Mother's Day brunch had been spent waiting while everyone ate separately. The manager seemed completely unconcerned and said someone would handle it only after my mom asked what was he planning on doing besides apologizing as we were still missing a plate. Meanwhile, our waitress barely checked on us unless we flagged her down ourselves. No refills, no silverware, no urgency, and constant "your food is coming in two seconds" excuses. The food itself was disappointing too. Chicken and waffle Portions were tiny, flavors were off, and even the horchata colada tasted nothing like horchata. This was actually our second bad experience here. We previously came for Taco Tuesday and experienced similar disorganization, but decided to give the restaurant another chance. Huge mistake. Parking is terrible, the waiting area is overcrowded, and the restaurant felt completely unprepared and understaffed for a holiday they should have planned for. But we were sitting waiting for a drink. I heard other waitresses freaking out telling people Dont Give Out lunch menus sad that they can't even handle brunch. Honestly, you're better off going somewhere like The Broken Yolk Cafe if you want decent brunch service and to actually enjoy your meal together. Sad that a place trying to present itself as high-end. If you're gonna boast about being the first rooftop in Rancho, your service and your food and your drinks better be good. Completely ruined our Mother's Day. We will never return! The 20% off a $220 bill was paid right back at the waitress tip which, if my family hadn't paid, I would've gave her nothing. Isn't your waitress supposed to see your table that one person has food for half an hour shouldn't she go back and ask shouldn't your waitress see if you have your drinks within 40 minutes shouldn't your waitress know what you serve there shouldn't your waitress check on her tables completely ridiculous. We made a reservation for 4 for 7:30PM on a Saturday night. We were 5 minutes late and they made us wait over 20 minutes til get seated because they were "overbooked" and understaffed. The drinks were $18 each or more and the rooftop has a smaller menu than the restaurant downstairs. The tables had heaters which was nice but the service wasn't great to be honest. We ordered 4 shots, 4 drinks and one more round of drinks and nachos. The total was over $200. I would say if you really want to try this place, visit the main restaurant downstairs and avoid the rooftop. If you only care about the "vibe" you'll still likely be disappointed. We checked out their rooftop and there was a DJ playing and a photographer as well. There is a nice view of the mountains too! Only small bites were available, so we got the guacamole and ceviche. The food was fresh and flavorful. For drinks, my friend got a cocktail and I opted for the drinks in a tower. They weren't too sweet and very colorful! We went down to the restaurant, since we were still hungry and wanted something more substantial. Before heading down, the photographer gave us a free photo, but we ended buying two more printed ones. We sat out in the patio and shared a branzino. The fish was so delicious. The inside of the restaurant is decorated very nice! It reminded us of Cabo. Very welcoming and comfortable. We went on a Sunday after church and we got lucky to get a table. They recommended making reservations fyi. We had the potato taquitos appetizer and it they were really good and crunchy. My wife had the Short Rib plate. The meat was very tender that it fell off the bone when I tried to cut it. It was very good. The green sauce on the meat was very spicy for us both. If you like spicy it may be ok for you. The Cole slaw was dry. It didn't have any dressing on it and the beans were ok. I had the Chicken Adobo that was over rice and small tomato's cut in half around the plate. The chicken was cooked well but it didn't have much flavor. Again the green sauce was really spicy for me and possibly overcame any flavor of the chicken. The rice underneath the chicken was good. I was surprised that the rooftop food menu is very limited. There are only six items to choose from: guacamole, oysters, flatbread, nachos, ceviche, and wings. I ordered the nachos and oysters. Durango Cocina food menu was accommodating of all food preferences and everyone can find something on the menu. Vegan, and gluten free options. I ordered these food items Carne Tacos that was served with rice and beans, Guacamole, and Spinach Salad. For drink i ordered Cherry Blossom, Dusk til dawn, a woodford old fashion and a Tito Lychee Martini. I strongly recommend taking the rooftop option with outdoor seating. It's beautiful! My husband and I went here for his birthday and while the rooftop happened to be closed due to wind, the inside, ambience is still quite romantic and date worthy. We went on a Saturday, and please that note, buffet brunch is the only thing that is served until 2 PM. We had no idea, so we got there at about 1:30 PM and had a cocktail while we waited for the regular menu to become available. We had the yellowtail crudo and the ahi tostada. Both were fantastic and honestly the best crudos had in a really long time. I had their version of a Caesar salad and I love the preparation and the toasted bread, but I really did not care for the dressing. It was just too far off for me. The food was really good. I would've preferred a longer braise on my short rib, but I enjoyed the sweet and savory taste of it. I'm not a huge bean person so I requested mashed potatoes instead and they accommodated. The churros for dessert were hot and fresh and delicious. As always, we order way too much food and so we definitely have leftovers that we will be enjoying. Met a few friends here. I showed up to the rooftop area to meet them, everything was immaculate! Lived the vibe, the music and the energy. It was very chill vibe. The sauce was really well balanced with some sweet and acidity. The pizza tasted and felt like it was homemade, everything carefully crafted and cooked with love. I ordered the oysters, wow! They come to you on an ice tray with a cucumber salad, well seasoned and dressed with a light sauce, it tasted almost pickled and was spicy! This one did have a decent kick if you aren't used to spicy things. It also came with two little bottles that had different sauces. One was a black colored sauce and one was an orange colored sauce. Each had their own uniqueness. One was smokey and the other was tangy. I'd advise putting a bit of the cucumber salad on top of the oyster and a few dabs of each on sauce on top, then adjust the amount of the sauce on the next oyster. Absolutely delicious! The food, the drinks, the service, and ambience were Chef's kiss all around. As the signature restaurant at The Sanctity Hotel, Durango is your main dining source at the hotel. For those who are Gold/Diamond Status your F&B Credit is redeemable here. I thought it was super cool that they were given out in vouchers so it was easy to stack them if you're staying for a few days. The interior is super nice and I really loved the Tulum aesthetic. There is a bar on the main floor with a bit of covered patio dining. I realized that the rooftop was only open on Friday-Sunday so that was a bit of a bummer. It was a good spot for a drink though and I'll have to keep in mind for food on my next stay. read more

I had an unfortunate incident with my accompanying party that evening at and had to leave Immediately so I did not get To stay for my entree. My waitress was so sweet and helpful. I tried a new breakfast spot with a friend this week -- Durango Cocina & Rooftop -- and overall it was a really nice experience. We went on a Monday morning around 9:00 AM, so it was very quiet at first, which I actually loved because we were able to pick exactly where we wanted to sit. The restaurant is inside the Sanctity Hotel, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful -- warm décor, stylish seating, and a really relaxing atmosphere. For food, I ordered the breakfast bowl which came with bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, black beans, and sourdough bread. My friend ordered the same thing plus waffles on the side. The food was good overall. My friend did mention her food -- especially the waffles -- could have been a little hotter. I felt the same about mine... good flavor, just not as warm as I would've liked. There was a small mix-up with our order because I accidentally received extra sausage (my friend had ordered extra). They apologized right away and brought her additional sausage -- and I still got to keep all my meat so that worked out! Now let me talk about the service -- our waitress Karen was fabulous. She had great customer service, checked on us often, and made sure we had everything we needed. She really made the experience pleasant. I also loved the little details -- they had a phone/coat charger stand right at the table which I thought was super convenient and unique. Only downside for me personally was the restroom setup. They were unisex restrooms, and both men and women wash hands together in the open sink area. I'm just not a fan of that layout -- but that's personal preference. First, it is cute and esthetically pleasing. But, our food was LACKING. Our server started out attentive and disappeared at some point. Here's what we ordered: Sea bass tacos: 9/10 tacos amazing!!! Sides for tacos- Rice (6/10) black Beans (4/10) beans were undercooked and lacked flavor. When we told the server, he dismissed it and didn't bother offering a new set or different side. Taquitos: 7/10 nothing special and not worth the price for the small pieces given. Overall, prices were overpriced and not worth the quality nor hype. Durango seems to really have the potential to make their menu a lot better.. as we entered Durango it surprised me with how gorgeous it is inside. We ordered some drinks and appetizers and got everything in good time. The guacamole is okay it's served with a giant tostada and you have to break it up to share. The drinks were just okay as well. Overpriced, light pour cocktails. Luckily they carry Lalo but for $17 a shot. It finally came time to order entrees and everything went smoothly. Server took everyone's order then got everyone's attention and went around and repeated every singles person order out loud to confirm she got it correctly which was very strange if I must say. People were having conversations and to interrupt everyone to reread them their orders to confirm you got it correct was a bit much. I feel if you think you have one persons order incorrectly you can ask them but to reread everyone's order with every single detail... any who we got our food within good time and everything was pretty bland their was nothing really special. Steak and eggs were lacking flavor. The potatoes were just okay and they ran out of the bolillo bread so some of us just got white toast without a heads up. After the check came it was about $250 for two of us for 2 shots, 2 cocktails and 2 entrees. A bit much for the lack of flavor this place has to offer. I love rooftops so for my birthday decided to come here but upon reading yelp reviews seems their rooftop menu is limited so decided to eat at their main restaurant. The decor is nice. We tried a watermelon margaritas (I didn't taste watermelon but the husband liked it) and a cucumber mint spritz which I enjoyed. We also tried steak and eggs and fish tacos along with a side salad. My wife and I came to Durango Cocina & Rooftop for Valentine's Day dinner and had an amazing experience. The staff was extremely accommodating. Our server, Taylor, was fantastic. Even though she was busy, she made sure we were well taken care of and her cocktail recommendation was perfect. One of the managers, Irfan, also checked in and made sure everything was going smoothly. We truly felt like we received VIP treatment. We ordered from the romantic multi course dining menu and everything was delicious. The highlights for me were the Leek and Potato Soup, the Sopes, and the Lobster Enchiladas. The decor created a warm and romantic atmosphere and the attention to detail made the evening feel like a true fine dining experience. The restaurant and hotel are beautiful. The food was not worth the $95 per person cost. Some of the courses were really good. Like the baked brie and the short rib pappardelle pasta, but those aren't Mexican dishes, let alone from Durango. The citrus salad was pleasant, but it was just sliced oranges with onions, oil, salt, and chili. The carne asada on the sope was so tough that it was hard to chew. And the tortilla was also incredibly hard. We couldn't finish it. There were couples on either side of us who both ordered the meat entree (I can't remember exactly what it was, but I think some kind of pork in the shape of a heart?). It was supposed to feed two. But it was so small, I couldn't even see it from my table. What I could see were all the vegetables piled around the meat. No one around us ordered the lobster enchiladas. It was a red sauce over a white sauce. We took the desserts to go. Tiramisu was good. The chocolate in the tart dessert was also incredibly hard. The pastry part was chewy and gummy. The compost was way too sour. The drinks were really good. Our server was really nice, friendly, and the right amount of attentive. I had the chips and guac also delicious, I would just suggest leaving out the onion side garnish and what ever else was in that mix. I was treated so well for my birthday when I came in July. I notice it was a front for the terrible customer service that I received the first time so I can change my original review. Tonight I had a taste for their guacamole and I wanted to experience the rooftop view. I was greeted by a host and escorted to a seat of my choice. It took a while for a server to notice I was sitting there and no one helped me. I order a frozen slushy drink and my guacamole by then 40 mins passed and I never received my guacamole I asked the server twice she said she was checking on it by 8:51pm I flagged her down and asked her to remove the guacamole from my bill so I can go eat at a different restaurant. She then let me know that she placed the order twice and had no idea why it wasn't coming to my table. I will no longer be spending my money at this restaurant. We recently dined at Durango Restaurant and unfortunately noticed several issues that made the visit disappointing. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly and pleasant staff member; however, he was eating from a plate at the podium, which immediately felt unprofessional. Our service continued to fall short when our waitress brought us a carne asada plate instead of the carne asada tacos we ordered--a more expensive item that we did not request. We decided not to complain about it because we hungry and we already waited a long time for our meal. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled. The waitress only asked about refills after all the plates were cleared and we were ready to pay the bill. At that point, we declined since we simply wanted to pay and leave. We also experienced a long wait just to receive our check. While waiting, we had time to notice the overall condition of the restaurant, which appears to be declining. The wine display cases are covered in fingerprint smudges, surfaces were dusty, live plants looked unkempt, and some of the seating appeared dirty which can't be easily wiped down. Although the restaurant was not very busy--approximately 45% of the tables were occupied--several tables were left with dirty dishes. Multiple staff members walked past these tables without addressing them. We have visited Durango Restaurant a few times in the past and have generally had better experiences. Unfortunately, this visit made it clear that both the service and upkeep of the facility have declined. We hope management takes note and works to bring the restaurant back to the standard it once had. read more

Durango Cocina & Rooftop is located at the Sancity hotel. It's not on top of the world, but is on top of the roof. Stunning mountainous views as well as an overlook of part of the downtown. It perhaps is the only rooftop for miles and I must say they have outdone themselves. They typically open in the evenings; the lower restaurant has a more normal schedule and a larger menu. I started with a bright sunny palate of watermelon, lychee, lime, agave, and splash of ginger. The Champagne of mocktails was fresh on the nose and with aromas of vacation. Put your glasses up, we're celebrating life!! For those wanting more food options should know that this is more of a bar than restaurant. 12:30 reservation on Sunday for brunch which ends at 1pm. We got seated pretty quickly but didn't get any attention for 25 min, our waiter didn't say hi, didn't ask for drink. We had no idea who our waiter was for the first 30 minutes. We had to go up back to the hostess 2 times before our order got taken by the hostess, Sophia. She was really nice and took our orders. We went on a Thursday evening so their rooftop wasn't opened. Rooftop opens Friday thru Sunday. We ordered: guacamole, fish tacos, chicken taquitos and a couple drinks. This restaurant is located inside a hotel, walk pass the lobby and you will find this amazing gem. Let me begin with service.... I was standing outside the restaurant with my crutch and a cast on, waiting on my husband when the manager came out and asked me if I was dining with them. I told him I had reservations and he escorted me inside and sat me at the table right away. I think this small gesture speaks highly of the staff. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean. Our server Andrea was very attentive and patient. I was here on a Thursday evening and this place was full. There is a rooftop ( that I don't get a chance to see). Valet parking available as well as self parking. The restrooms were gender neutral and clean. As a new business, I think they are still (understandably) working out a few small kinks... but we will definitely be back! The rooftop is SO well done! Tons of seating options for groups of all sizes, with our beautiful local mountains in the background. We were there at 7 on a very hot day, but we had lots of shade options and a great breeze. Our server Andrea was attentive and awesome. From the host to bussers, everyone was incredibly friendly. Note that the rooftop does not feature the same full menu as the restaurant downstairs. For food, they have guacamole, ceviche, and skewers (chicken, veggie, or beef). Our party of 2 did skewers and guacamole and were fine, but if you are hungry I would start downstairs and then end your night with cocktails on the rooftop. Lots of drink options - made well, and made strong. The frozen Paloma was so delicious, and we really enjoyed the margarita flight. They had apx 6 flavors to choose from - we tried watermelon and prickly pear and both were great. Fantastic ambience, lively environment, good music, and great people watching. The hostess staff was warm and welcoming, we didn't have reservations and it was Farther's Day. We were seated at the bar, which we didn't mind at all. Nestled inside the beautiful Sanctity Hotel with a vibrant roof top space provided a perfect balance of elegance, comfort, with esthetically pleasant decor. Now let's discuss the heart and soul of Durango Cocina, the food. The menu boasts of any array of forward Latin cuisine that transported our tastebuds to various levels. Each dish we ordered was a perfect blend of textures and flavors that showcased the Chef's commitment to high quality cuisine. Drinks? Don't get me started, each cocktail we ordered was a Mixologist's masterpiece! Well balanced, aromatic, and dangerously crafted. They also offer a thoughtful crafted wine list with biodynamic options, which is always a plus for me. In conclusion, Durango Cocina goes beyond just being a restaurant but an experience. It succeeded our expectations by not only satisfying our palates but created a long lasting impression of an amazing dining experience. First time here, and we will definitely be back! The restaurant is beautiful with such a warm, inviting atmosphere. The drinks were perfect, and we ordered the taquitos as an appetizer -- they were so good we wanted more. The cactus salad is more like a soup, and wow, the flavors were delicious. We also had the short ribs -- incredibly tender with a slight sweetness that made them even better. Overall, we loved everything. We were celebrating Valentine's Day a little early, and Sofia made the experience even more special. She was so welcoming, gave great recommendations, and truly made us feel taken care of. Look im gonna start with a the good first. The ambiance was nice. The pink lights are so pretty and make everyone look good. I really like the selection in music. Servers were nice and sweet. The food is soooo gross ! I honestly can't believe all these good reviews! The food was so bland. I thought I was eating Mexican food in Oklahoma. No flavor to any of it.. Almost tasted like hospital food. The tortillas tasted like gluten free whole wheat healthy ..no salt or spices to anything. Now with the salsas ! Wow so gross chipotle red salsa tasted like canned chili or bean dip. Ew. The green salsa tasted like a blended up grass smoothie with some spice. So strange The prices were insane. My parents booked their 50th anniversary here and I live in Idaho, so I wasn't able to join them, which broke my heart. I called to see if the restaurant would be able to take my card information to pay. I spoke with James and he went above and beyond. He said he would reach out to his manager, Sofia, to see if this could be done and call me back. He kept to his word and called me back to let me know this could be done. I spoke with Sofia to confirm everything and she was incredibly warm and professional. She called me when she was completing the charge and let me know what the total was and sent a text with the total. I was heartbroken I couldn't be part of their anniversary but both James and Sofia made my day for making things run so smoothly. They were both amazing and I couldn't have asked for more. read more
