    Chicken teriyaki burrito
    Kisha F.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki burrito. I was a little hesitant cause of the pricing but it was what I was in the mood for. It was during the week so it was not crowded. Food came out in good time and was very hot. The burrito was also very good. The only issue was it was too pricey for what you get. The size of the burrito was no different than what you get at Qdoba but it was $20 for just a burrito. You could get more for your money elsewhere. I would give it a 3.5/5

Okay... let's talk about Kalbi Taco Shack because I think I just had a religious experience involving a pork burrito. The burrito? Massive. Flavorful. Emotional. I may or may not have teared up halfway through. Perfectly seasoned pork, the right amount of sauce, and a tortilla that held its life together better than I did during tax season. My husband went for the assorted tacos, and by "assorted," I mean he tried to order the entire left side of the menu -- and honestly, zero regrets. Each taco had its own personality: one spicy, one sweet, one probably judging me for inhaling my burrito too fast. The flavors? Explosive. Like a flavor rave in your mouth hosted by a mariachi band and a K-Pop group. And can we talk about the Foundry food hall? You've got a dozen choices, but Kalbi is the Beyoncé of the bunch -- serving main character energy while the rest of the hall is still rehearsing. Huge shout-out to the team for keeping things fresh, fun, and downright addictive. One of the best meals we've had at the Foundry -- and that's saying something, because I've eaten my way through most of it. 10/10. Will dream about that pork burrito until further notice. Final Verdict If you're in Midtown St. Louis and craving something that breaks the mold of "typical tacos", Kalbi Taco Shack is a must-visit. The pork burrito alone is worth the stop -- and if you're with someone else, sample tacos so you can taste the range. We'll absolutely be back. Highly recommend. PS there is no picture of the burrito since i dug in and made a mess before I remembered I needed the photo proof. LOL

[June 2025] I came here after sweating it out at Sandbox down the hall. I'd been to the Foundry many times before and just been slowly making my way through each of the restaurants. Kalbi is an Asian fusion restaurant blending Chinese, Japanese, Tawainese, Vietnamese and American flavors. I love all of those flavors already, so I was excited to try them. Did I tell you all how much I love aioli? Well, they have a great house made aioli sauce that is on most of their dishes if not all. They have a process map chalkboard to help you map out your entree. I ordered the quesadilla with sweet & spicy chicken with no sides. The order didn't take long to make and was still hot and delicious when I got home to eat it. I will definitely be back!

    Lettuce in the bowl.

A simple no. Save your money. The concept seems great however the food was mid at best and the customer service was seriously lacking. The chicken was cold. The rice was room temperature. The egg was warm, but it added nothing to the dish. And there was absolutely nothing pickled about the carrots as described. You can tell the lettuce came right out of a grocery store salad bag as it was full of the flavorless corners of lettuce. Then to finish the transaction, I wasn't even offered a bag to carry my to go order away in. If I am in the mood for Asian fusion cuisine, I'll probably go to KBop or Seoul Taco, not this place.

It was very cold day. We came for some food and the museum of illusions. We walked all around the food court so many options. We ended up at this Taco Shack and got the sweet and spicy chicken tacos and they were fire. Friendly service and nice area to sit. Best Tacos we've had in STL.

I ordered the special, a delicious birria quesadilla from Kalbi Taco Shack! It was made fresh and came out piping hot. Plenty of cheese and birria meat I the four pieces. Tasty broth included for dipping. Highly recommend this restaurant in the Food Hall at City Foundry!

Popped into City Foundry food hall to get something for everyone...got the special tempura shrimp tacos as my pick! It was a great pick! A simple cabbage slaw marinated in a tangy vinegar based marinade, garlic aioli, and a big, freshly made, tempura shrimp in each taco, and a fresh lime wedge. Yum! The menu had a dozen things I'm ready to try on our next visit. Downside- it was a slow night but I waited a while at the window to be helped and then the tacos took much longer than necessary to be ready (but they were definitely just out of the fryer- nice and hot shrimp!) Just hadn't expected such slow service on a night that was not busy (maybe they had a lot of delivery orders?). I'm definitely heading back to this spot in the food hall!

Oh my gosh this was so good!! The food was amazing, and the gentleman was nice nice! Cute & chill spot to eat, needed some time to kill during rush hour traffic. I don't live in the city, so I got a little confused where to find the food hall, but definitely not on the owner!

2 chicken tacos and chips and salsa

I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat, so I went to the Foundry, walked around and decided to try this place. Pretty good prices, quick service, and a slightly different take on traditionally Mexican items. I had the sweet and spicy chicken as well as the buffalo zing chicken taco. With a side, in my case chips and salsa, this is a filling amount of food without leaving you a lot of leftovers. Of the two tacos, both were at least fine, but the buffalo zing chicken taco was way more flavorful. I'd get that one again, but probably not the sweet and spicy. I didn't feel like anything was particularly spicy, but my meal was tasty, if a bit messy. Good option if you happen to be at the Foundry

    Premium Short Rib (Kalbi) Tacos

This is just a cute, little shop in the City Foundry that definitely needs to expand! It's a grab-and-go like other places in the Foundry. I am not usually a fan of fusion food, but the Premium Short Rib (kalbi) caught my eye. You can choose from an array of proteins + dish style. I opted for the kalbi taco version since it was popular. For two tacos, it cost around $14. The tacos included yummy marinated kalbi, slaw, and a sweet (gochujang?) mayo sauce on soft tortilla. Overall, I would say the kalbi part was good, but it just wasn't amazing especially with the price. The tacos were on the sweeter side, which isn't my personal preference. If the slaw had more acidity, bite, and even some spice, then I think the tacos would've been perfect in taste.

A REAL REVIEW: My experience at Kalbi Taco Shack on 9/13/25 was absolutely 1000% horrid in every sense of the word. Prior to ordering I advised them of my dietary restrictions which only left me with a couple of options. From those two options I was only interested in trying one which was a jack fruit rice bowl. After receiving my order I walked over to the dining area. I was confused when I prepared to eat my meal because one of the ingredients didn't match the ingredient list. Without asking me if it was ok they swapped the romaine for iceberg lettuce. I'm very aware of the difference between the two. The jackfruit was cold & harder than a mf brick. With that said it wasn't even edible. I approached the register asking the cashier if I could have a refund since my order didn't meet my expectations. The cashier laughed boisterously in my face. There was an employee beside her witnessing this unprofessionalism. The employee standing beside the cashier then asked me if I wanted to exchange it for anything else. I replied no I would like a refund. Nothing else on the menu was of interest to me nor fitted my dietary needs. She proceeded to get the owner Sue S. Sue S. came out to address the issue. I explained to her why I was not satisfied with my order & that I wanted a refund. She then points into thin air & says "It says all sales are final." Even after her doing all that pointing I still didn't notice the sign. In fact after she walked off like a thief in the night I had to search for it because it's so small & hardly noticeable. With all of the busy decor you actually have to really be looking for it to notice it. I believe that was purposefully executed to cheat customers out of their hard earned money. Note to self: If I notice an "all sales final" at an eatery prior to ordering run tf the other way because that in itself is a huge red flag. After staring confused at this hidden fine print she was pointing to in thin air I told her I wasn't going to eat the food & would like a refund. She nonchalantly replied "Oh ok." & walked off with the trash they gave me. In that moment it was apparent that Sue S. only wanted my money & not my business. This was my first & last time here. If you're into highway robberies, non existent customer service, & dog food this is the place for you. I would highly suggest visiting a local grocer or Purina actually if dog food is your thing. Most of these other reviews must be AI generated or they received free dog food for leaving a good review because ain't no way Sway. This place is a certified "HELL TO THE NAW NAW." Should you decide to spend your money here & have some of the issues I had be aware of the Missouri consumer protection laws. I'll post a snap shot of them here, but definitely do your own research. As a consumer there are rights/protections in place even in the event "all sales are final."

    Beef short rib rice bowl
    Mary C.

I usually don't like fusion cuisine (not as much a fan of Seoul Taco or Kimchi Guys) but wow Kalbi Taco Shack is *good*! We kept walking past this stall in the Foundry food court since they often sold out. But we finally were able to try their menu. We ordered the beef short rib taco and the rice bowl. The rice bowl really is just rice and meat. The tacos however are the highlight; very flavorful with a nice creamy aioli sauce and lime wedge, served over a flour tortilla (though you also have the option to pick corn). The beef is very well seasoned and not too chewy or tough. Probably my favorite spot in the Foundry! Would recommend getting the tacos over the bowl for a punch of flavor.

    Kaitie F.

I'm not sure if there's a big problem with consistency, because reviews seem all over the place, but unfortunately my experience was very poor. First note: the chicken tacos were $4.50 each (higher than any other tacos I've had in the area). I apparently tried a sweet and spicy chicken and a teriyaki chicken but they appeared and tasted the same and used the same ingredients. I asked the person at the service window which taco each was and even they couldn't tell me. I would describe the tacos as soupy - each one had puddles of juice from the chicken in them. Flavors were muddled and just a sad mess. Of the 5 places I tried during my visit to City Foundry, this was by far the worst offering.

This location was very close to where we were. It was the perfect time to try it! Ambiance: I really love the esthetics of the restaurant. The floral arrangements in the front is very inviting and added a great touch. I also loved the covered outdoor seating areas available, along with the indoor option. We surprisingly opted to sit outside, because heat is not my friend. The industrial fan definitely helped! I felt like I was sitting on one of friend's veranda in the carribean Food: I really enjoyed the food. Tacos are a la carte. For appetizer we opted for the Trifecta which came with guac, queso, and rojo salsa. Let me just say, their happy hour deals are a great steal! Order: There are a couple different ways to order & pay. Use the traditional way of having the server take our order by raising the card "Lets Taco Buddha it," or by scanning the QR code and placing order yourself & pay online. At first, I started the online order because I felt like this would allow me more time to read the menu and order on my own terms. I ended up raising my card and having someone take my order despite having it all in my cart. Tacos are served "family style" comes out on the same platter. We opted for the Baja ( battered pallock) & The Jodhpur (marinated grilled chicken). The kiddos opted for the quesadillas and fried chicken taco. Everything was flavorful (with the exception of their hot/mild sauces, those were flavorless, however not necessary to add). Not going to lie, I made a joke to my mom about the food being served on a surgical tray or "doggy platter." LOL lol. Service: They use a team model. I saw multiple staff going throughout the restaurant checking on needs & refilling water pitchers. Everyone was really nice, they had small toys for children to play with at the table and it's always a plus when they strike up a conversation with my kiddos. Parking: We arrived shortly after 4pm and there were lots of spots available. By the time we were leaving, there were two cars waiting for spots. It is also located alongside a busy street, the restaurant did get packed for dinner on a weekday. The only thing I would have changed is not to order my meal the same time as my appetizer. It came out almost together. I would have liked to enjoyed the appetizers prior to my entrée.

It's been a few weeks since I had any pocket cash to go out to eat... so I decided to pick a food…read moresource at random for a Saturday afternoon, and I'm SO GLAD I did... You know how they say one of the best things about Mexico is the food? I have to admit, I would honestly wouldn't know and just have to trust the stories I've heard, as I've never been lucky enough to go to Mexico.... But all my life I've heard stories about people who go and basically remind you.. NEVER hit a restaurant for _authentic_ Mexican food. You want to hit the street vendors. Well, St. Louis has a fantastic surprise.. Now you can do that right here in the city! Part of a three-restaurant set up, Amigo Sole is the "street vendor" restaurant that's not on the street. (And having met the owner of the full set-up, I'm REALLY hoping i get invited to the grand opening of Jekyll & Hyde) As it was middle of the day Saturday, I didn't ask for anything alcoholic (so i don't know if the reviewer that asked for alcoholic beverages and was told they didn't have any was just unlucky or if it was true.) But I'll take a Mexican Coke over American Coke any day of the week (NO, get your minds out of the gutter.. not that powdered one!). Anyway, I went simple for a quick stop, and went with the Chicken Bomb. at the recommendation of the cashier and he was quick to name this one off.. (and always remember cashiers, have a favorite READY, so thumbs up to the cashier on this one!) . And then to my amazement.. no more than 5 minutes later, HOT, tasty, cheesy, chicken quesadilla style BOMB-diggity! (Ironically this one is not listed on the website menu, only the instore menu? Come on Sole, online is everything today :) ) Absolutely delicious food.. and absolutely messy too, as it literally would fall apart in my hands.. (HEY, that's a good thing!) As for the decor.. 100% true, as Amigo Sole definitely has SOUL! (and lots of soles!). Again Amigo Sole isn't designed to be a 'great sit down' restaurant, it's designed to be street-vendor FUN!!!! and with what decoration they have, it pulls it off fantastically in my opinion. So just based on my meal, what the owner told me about the Amigo Sole, you're getting EXACTLY what you're promised a Mexican street vendor serving fantastic Mexican street vendor food, only with a roof over your head the entire time. During the meal, met again (Who i believe to be) the owner of the store and talked with him about Amigo Sole and how amazing it was to me... and he told me about the three-restaurant combination. (And I apologize sir, but I completely forgot your name when we talked!). even mentioning they share three kitchens when it gets busy (so I was kinda lucky as i think the rain scared everyone out for the day), but I'm still hoping for the Jeckyll & Hyde invitation! (I'll even pretend to find a date if I have to for the upscale part!)
