Wow great food fresh ! Great service as real as it gets

The food here is delicious. One of the best veggie burgers I've ever had. Their kale salad is also delicious. They have a very relaxed and casual vibe, and I would say it's perfect for a lunch after a day at the beach or a casual dinner. I didn't try any of their smoothies or juices, but they looked great, and I could see the employees making all of them with super fresh ingredients. This place is a little pricey, but they definitely use quality ingredients, so I think it's worth it. read more

Just had lunch at the Kale Café and have to say: Get in your car and go there! My friend and I had the lunch specials, lasagna, roasted root vegetables, kale salad (best I have ever had!), eggplant, cabbage slaw, everything so incredibly flavorful. The owners are on site, friendly and graciously shared some of their recipe tips with us. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is a delight, and we will be going back for smoothies on a regular basis. I have had the smoothies in the past, this was my first full lunch there. I guarantee it was the first of many more to come! There is a garden out back too, and Omar the owner said he is starting a huge community garden. I really enjoy Kale Cafe. I wasn't certain how I would feel about an all vegan restaurant at first but they won me over. My favorite thing to go into them for is their juices and smoothies. They are fresh and soooo good! I have eaten a variety of their different hot foods including the jerk mushrooms, rice and beans, cabbage, seitan seasoned, beans. It is all really good. read more

I have been vegan for over 4years my daughter told me about Kale Cafe, she had tried the smoothies there but not the food. After reading the reviews I suggested to some of my not vegan /vegetarian family members to lets check it out, we were able to sample before ordering which was a plus. Everyone ordered something different and everything was delicious. We left full satisfied, smiling and happy. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The owner "Omar" put the icing on the cake he shared some of his experience( life, family and business) with us.I felt like family. The food is okay prices are high which organic usually is but the staff are pretty self involved not very welcoming.

Where to start...had the brown stew tofo with beans and rice. No flavor along with tasteless rice. Over priced for a place that could care less about service. If you want ice for your water it comes out of a bag from 7-11. Apparently they do not have a ice machine. The style of plating your food was like how a prison cafeteria serves food. I really wanted to like this place, because I've been living in other cities for the past 5-6 years and was excited to see a vegan restaurant with fresh juice open in my hometown. I've heard really good things about Kale Cafe, and was craving juice after work today so I decided to stop in. The atmosphere was pleasant and everyone was really friendly, but it took a REALLY long time for my juice to be made (like 15+ minutes) and it came to $8 for a 12 oz cup. I was also already a little bummed because the substitutions I wanted to make (I wanted to switch out parsley for orange juice, which I was surprised to find they don't serve at all) weren't possible. In the end, after all that time, my tiny expensive juice ended up being really watery and tasted like straight up celery juice. I don't really leave Yelp reviews but since I found this place on Yelp I figured it would be worthwhile to post. I'll probably give Kale Cafe another shot because everyone was so friendly and the food looked good. Probably wouldn't get juice here again, though. ): Sorry Kale Cafe. read more

This newly opened cafe in Ormond Beach is a winner. So hard to find vegan places to eat. I had the chickenless agave Dijon sandwich and it was scrumptious! A vegan cutlet with sautéed onions and mushrooms with tomato and kale salad to top it off. All served on ciabatta. Seasonings were perfect. Very tasty. I also had the Bruce it up smoothie which I couldn't stop sipping while waiting for the sandwich. Definitely be going here a lot with many different items on the menu to try. read more

The food is fabulous. This place makes going vegan very painless. I tend to get the same thing every time, which is the brown stew tofu. This most recent time, I decided to venture out and try the "chicken" sandwich on ciabatta bread. AMAZING!!!! The sides are amazing. The owners are extremely kind and friendly, and they have no problems sharing the ingredients that make their fine dishes. The staff always greets me, when I walk in. I'm a picky eater, but I will break out of my comfort zone and try their other main dishes. read more

Carribean themed vegan soul food themed spot. There is truly nothing like this around & Daytona is lucky to have them. Hopefully as the owners gain more experience it will become even better. Overall, their food is tasty (though their seitan needs more practice) and they will ley you try anything but my peve is it is not consistent. Ex, sometimes their kale salad is overtly lemony and jerk mushrooms super spicy and othertimes they are just right or even bland! Now this is a sure sign they definitely make everything fresh by sight w/o recipes but difficult when ordering or recommending to friends. Also the 4x ive been there they were out of their specials twice (better arrive early to lunch I guess!) and their pricing is not always what is posted on the chalkboard and portion size varies from plate to plate. Also their carrot juice was half juiced fresh and half poured from an "overfill" jug from the fridge. IMHO a simple carrot juice from a juice bar should be made fresh to order. Again, signs they need recipes. I recommend their Bruce it Up smoothie- a meal in itself- and their chickpea curry, and lentil soup. This place has potential. read more

You can feel the love in the food. It is like stepping into home, really. And it tastes as fresh and organic as it is.

I love this place i travel almost an hour to get to the 2 locations in Daytona and Ormond,,,,And now I hear they are coming to Port Orange just 10 minutes away... the owner takes his Juice ingredients seriously i had an in depth discussion about how choosy he is with his lemons...right down to the soil the tree grows out of!! I was really excited about this place opening up! I would drink the smoothies that the owner sold at the farmers market prior to opening this business. My husband and I came in for the first time one night, they were having the Daytona Vegetarian Society gather and eat here. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the owners and other people who worked there were very friendly and helpful. It was decorated beautifully. Not over done, but simple, artsy, colorful and hip. We got to choose from a few different meals and pick a couple sides too. All plates of any food you chose, were for $10. I am a vegetarian so I was very interested and excited to try the food. My husband on the other hand is not a vegetarian and he was wary at first. We both chose the vegan lasagna, with the garlic knots and kale salad. As we sat and ate, we both could not believe how amazing the food was. The lasagna was the best I have ever had, the garlic knots were very interesting because they were vegan as well... I didn't know how they were going to taste. But they were so delicious too! The kale salad was our favorite! It was so simple and refreshing. Just kale and some citrus juices etc. but we could not get enough of it. We cleaned our plates without leaving one crumb left. If I could have eaten more, I would have ordered another plate! My husband was blown away about how delicious they could make vegan food. You could also tell that it was all made with love. It was fresh, homemade and creative. I have had the smoothies before and they are delicious too. The green is my favorite. It has the health benefits of the green leaves-kale- but tastes like a tropical drink. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! Do not let the "vegan" word scare you away if you have no experience with it. You will not be disappointed. 10 stars!! Absolutely amazing. The menu is always fresh and creative, and it varies from week to week which keeps it interesting and exciting from visit to visit. The environment is laid back, and the staff make you feel so welcome and at home. The women that work there are just all around sweet and adorable people, bursting with sincerely positive energy. Even if their food wasn't as downright delicious as it is, I would still buy mediocre meals there just because the staff make the dining experience so refreshing and enjoyable. I love this place for lunch. The food is hot, wholesome, really delicious. Occasionally, when I've ordered the kale salad it is over dressed and soggy, so this item is hit and miss for me. At other times, they've run out of the kale salad and tell me that they are working on it and it will be out in five minutes - this always turns into 20 minutes or more and by the time I get it, I've finished my lunch. I went to dinner there once only and was very disappointed. I arrived about 30 minutes before closing and the food was obviously left over from lunch. The heating tables had been turned off - the food that I was served was cold and dried from sitting there all afternoon - terrible. I felt like I was the family dog being given the table scraps. To add injury to insult, the wait staff couldn't care less - I was told "what do you expect? We are closing in 30 minutes!" I should have walked right out, but was so hungry - when I sat down to eat, the waiters were putting the chairs up on the tables - they couldn't wait 30 minutes until the doors were closed and I was finished with my meal? They were obviously impatient for me to leave- very uncomfortable for me. I complained at their website to the owners, but no one replied. I also spoke with the owner the next time that I went to lunch, but she didn't seem surprised or apologetic. To be completely fair, the negative dinner experience was about a year ago, so maybe dinner at Kale Café is different now. However, it is the reason that I've not gone back for dinner, but continue to enjoy their delicious lunches. read more

My husband and I really loved this place the first few times we went. Then things took a turn for the worst when we visited the restaurant and we were seated next to a young girl that was allowing her dog to eat off of her plate, the plate provided by the restaurant, while she was seated IN the restaurant. Nothing was said to this young woman, which was shocking as I know the plates are washed but it is a health hazard, nonetheless. We were astonished to say the least and we just looked in horror at the guests we had brought with us to this restaurant. We decided to return to the restaurant on another visit as my husband and I really enjoyed the food but this was the last time we will return. While the staff is friendly, the food has changed in a negative way. We noticed that their juices/smoothies were changed to be made with all organic fruits and vegetables - I would think that this means they're health conscious, however the amount of sodium that is now in their food items is unbelievable. The first several times we dined there, there was never that amount of salt! Maybe they changed their recipes or cook but the amount of salt in the food is a deal breaker and something that is extremely unhealthy and causes more health problems than organic versus inorganic fruits and vegetables. I applaud vegan restaurants, as there aren't many, but the last two experiences we have had at this place were not pleasant. read more
