Pork bao , it is fantastic! A little sweet, a little sour....perfect!

FOOD: This place has the best by far ramen soup, it's so fresh!! Whenever I go here I get the pork bao. I sometimes dream about it & then I gotta have it! That's how good it is! THE SERVICE: The service is always friendly whether I'm by myself or with friends, also always quick! AMBIANCE: [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can get a beer at the bar or go into the dining room & get lunch or dinner. It doesn't matter, it pretty chill here. Nice relaxed place for a date, great place to go with friends, either way works well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] PRICES: I mean it all fresh, made to order. You can get boba & 2 bao for like $20 with tip. Do you want good or do you want cheap? It might be a little less than that actually. I love this place!

Love Kaliubon in Wethersfield and so does everyone else! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went on a Thursday night and the place was full within the first 1/2 hour of opening![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered their tofu bao with tofu, cucumber, carrot, daikon and guacamole (make this dish vegetarian by having them hold the hoisin BBQ sauce, which has fish). They were so yummy! My main dish was a vegetarian ramen which had tofu, mushroom, arugula and more! Delish! My husband is vegan so the Kaliubon staff was very nice about removing the garlic sauce from their Crispy Tofu Poke Bowl. The sweet chili sauce in this bowl is vegan so it had a lot of spicy flavor! This place is near our house so I predict we will be going here more often for sure!

I've driven by Kaliubon many times and always wanted to try them. My husband and I finally ordered via DoorDash instead of dining-in since we were both under the weather. We shared an order of the Korean Wings, I had the Tokyo Chicken Ramen, and my husband had the Curry Chicken Ramen. We both agreed the servings were big and the broth (not pictured) of each one was savory and delicious. The wings were nice and meaty, with the right amount of spice. We would like to try dining-in next time!

Went to a lunch date here and it was great. I usually go to the one in West Hartford but we think this one is much better. Parking was easier to find. We were greeted and sat down quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I noticed there was some trash under the table like pieces of napkins and the host saw it but sat us there anyways.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But I didn't mind it. We ordered dumplings and two bowls of ramen. The dumplings were good and I like the sauce that comes with it. It was pretty slippery so it was hard to get with chop sticks. I got the kaliubon ramen and enjoy the peanut butter flavor to it. It was a savory ramen. The pork in my ramen was delicious and tender. My partner enjoyed his beef ramen and stated the beef is better than the one in West Hartford. Overall we had a satisfying meal and will come again.

Kaliubon always hits! Perfect noodles, delicious broth, great flavors all around. I'm personally obsessed with the hot & sour ramen. I've enjoyed others I've had (the curry ramen is a close second), but I regularly crave the hot & sour. It's a little spicy, as you might have guessed, with the perfect tang from pickled green beans that help cut through the richness of the broth and braised short rib. A little crunch in some bites from the peanuts sprinkled on top makes it transcendental for me. Have also enjoyed their poke, dumplings, brussel sprouts, garlic edamame, and goma q (cucumber with sesame dressing). Services is always prompt and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is clean and cozy inside, which is exactly what I want when I'm slurping noodles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And while ramen is always best eaten there, they do a great job packing things up for takeout!

Hand crafted ramen? Say less! Immediately seated and taken care of right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of seating and the food came quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got the Thai tea with boba, which was refreshing. Ended up getting the wonton ramen which was delicious and had plenty to fill me up!

Finally rating the Kalibu location in Wethersfield after dining in a few times and ordering out several more times. I will say this place is consistent and I've never had a bad meal. Considering all the different Ramen places in the area, I would say that this location in particular is one of my favorite. I love that they have a wonton Ramen option, as well as their angry wontons (Clearly give me all the wontons). But I also love their edamame as simple as it is. I love the spice on it. I appreciate their Goma cucumber salad, and the fact that this location has a bar for some sake and another cocktails and they even have Boba tea. Every time we do dine in the service is pleasant and efficient. It's become a rainy day spot for us, but we appreciate the team so much absolutely recommend visiting or ordering out when you can.

Stopped in right before 6pm. I think that is the turning point hour on Saturday. As soon as we sat down we noticed several more pistols showed up and were waiting to be seated. All the tables were full, which should tell you his good this ramen place is. Miso and tonkotsu ramen were great. They are very efficient, quick and organized. Very happy with our dining experience.

I love this ramen spot! The flavors in the ramen are so flavorful! I always get a melon boba with a beef ramen! Definitely recommend for those who wanna get into ramen or who like ramen! Only thing is sometimes the food is lukewarm or cold. The service is amazing and it's a very quick experience! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is nothing special but more so basic seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If kaliubon is only 15-20 minutes away from me, I'll be here every week.. sadly it's almost an hour drive but so worth it. The best tonkotsu ramen!! BF had tokyo chicken ramen, it's good if you like a light bowl of ramen and don't like pork, but the tonkotsu for me is the best here. He's not a fan of pork but when he tried what I got, chashu and broth, he loved it, so next time. Dumplings were the bomb as well. Service is always on point and I can't wait to be back!!

"In February it will be My snowman's anniversary With cake for him and soup for me!" (Carole King) When checking out Kaliubon's menu from home as a prelude to my business lunch, I sure had the impression they were a follower of the Subeay model, where the customer walks down the ordering line and points at this and at that to build their order. But I was wrong, Kaliubon is a conventional and traditional table service. They have similar lunch menus and dinner menus that differ by around $2 or so. Our lunch menu offered us a dozen appetizers (baos, wings, dumplings salads ranging from $5 for edamame to $14 for a Cajun Crab Bao. The lunch entrees are 12 choices within the noodle/ramen family for $14 and six Poke Bowls ($12-$14). Lunch combinations include one of the appetizers. I ordered the the Kaliubon Dumplings as my appetizer and they were excellent. Bursting with ground pork and shrimp with crispy shallots, cilantro, scallions, tomatoes, and roasted peanuts swimming in a spicy Sichuan chili sauce. My spicy salmon Poke Bowl was excellent, with a generous portion of salmon cubes, edamame, cucumber, seaweed, crispy shallots, and pickled ginger all in a zippy spicy sauce and served over a mound of white rice. I loved it. My 2 lunch-mates both ordered ramen bowls, and I have to admit, they really looked fabulous. Service was friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with my first visit to Kaliubon.

Driving into the plaza...the sidewalk is a bit lifted from the road, so expect it to be a bit bumpy coming in and out of the lot. Walking inside it was a cutely decorated shop with Anime themed wall art. There was a good amount of seating in this small shop as well. We sat down and ordered the iron man roll, so ramen roll, house ramen and Shabu Shabu beef ramen. It took about 20-39 mins for the food to come out but I believe there is just one cook working. The rolls were delicious and I really like their So Ramen roll. It was creamy and crunchy. My house ramen was also really good and I enjoyed it. My fiancé thought his ramen was a bit bland. But that might just be his opinion on ramen overall. Each item runs about $14 to $20 each. So a meal for 2 can run you about at minimum $40. Overall we enjoyed our time here and would come back.

I forget which.) Being CCSU s spring break, there wasn't much going on. That is, we saw a few pickups and DoorDash orders, but we had the full restaurant to ourselves. The waitress was quick, but the to-go orders left us waiting (totally normal, not a complaint.) First, the good: the ramen is a sizable portion. You can tell it's all made from scratch. It's not the saltiest thing you'll ever eat. The spicy is actually spicy, if you mix in all the chili paste they leave resting on the fish cake. I grabbed my chopsticks and dug in, and I was glad I got the $3.50 milk tea on the side (you get it for cheap with a bowl), though I found it very sweet. The pork in my ramen was crispy on the sliver of crust, and the rest was cooked to perfection. Many other places can do it like that, but if they'd messed that up, they'd lose some points. The bad is a very short list. Our ramen had vermicelli or angel hair instead of, you know, ramen noodles. Maybe that's their thing? All in all, a soup place next to the up-the-hill dorms is just what I needed decades ago. I'm rarely up that way these days, but I'd totally stop here even in the summer.

Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.
