I'm back to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. They've moved from East Hartford to Andover. It's only about 15 minutes from work. They've lost a lot of space and the menu is much smaller, but the place is new, clean and in a beautiful rural area. The last time I was here was back in July! For my drink, I'm having a Taro Boba Tea with warm tapioca. This straw is huge. This is very good! One tip is pull the straw up and drink the top layer of liquid. This will keep the drink tasting much cooler. For my appetizer, I'm having the Goi Cuon or fresh spring rolls. These are made with lettuce, basil, rice noodles and your choice of pork, shrimp, chicken or tofu. It's chicken for me. These are healthy! I would recommend having the peanut sauce for flavor and Sriracha sauce for a little kick. You will love the peanut sauce! These are delicious! For my soup, I'm having the Chicken with Broccoli Stir Fry. This comes with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, pickled carrots and a side of white rice. I do like to add the Sriracha sauce and the hot chili oil for some more heat (a couple jalapeño slices doesn't cut it). I can hear them (the wok) making my food and I can smell the nice aroma on the air! The food here is served real quick (not even 5 minutes). This is piping hot! What a huge serving! This is so good!!! For $14?! You just can't go wrong! It's nice and spicy now (the way I like it)! Not a drop left! It's still steaming as I finish it! One of the two original owners from the East Hartford location still owns the place. They also now have the highly-sought-after peanut butter brittle wiry sesame seeds. This stuff is good! I'm buying some (all if it - too bad suckers!) as gifts for friends in Maine I'm meeting this weekend. My sister also is trying the Mien Xao which is a chicken stir fry with cellophane noodles (gluten free). What a great meal here! It's healthy, quick and tasty! read more

Andover Plaza has always been something of a food island if not an outright desert. Through several changes of ownership we've had a mediocre pizza joint for decades. A couple of breakfast cafes have come and gone and left little impression. Prior to Pho House moving here, we had a pretty average suburban Chinese take-out joint, whose traditional and typical offerings varied anywhere from passable to abysmal. And so when we locals heard about the impending arrival of something truly different we anticipated its coming with great hope and lofty expectations. So far I would have to say that they've hit the mark we all counted on. We've gotten take-out from them about a half-dozen times so far and everything is fresh, tasty, nicely prepared, and attractively arranged. Some specifics... Appetizers come exactly as expected: spring rolls are hot and crunchy, dumplings tender and chewy, shrimp tempura nicely crispy. If you order their eponymous pho, you can get it packaged separately still comprising its various component parts (broth, meat, vegetables, condiments, etc.) which enables you to assemble it fresh at home. Their various stir-fry dishes, whether based on rice or noodles, are all well seasoned and contain a good mix of veggies, protein, and sauces. Their fried rice is full of fresh cilantro and not too salty or soy-saucy. While they have a half-dozen tables, we've always gotten takeout; we live 3 minutes away so it's never seemed to make sense to dine in. Frankly, there's little by the way of restaurant ambience to speak of -- it's primarily a take-out counter with a big kitchen behind -- but the food honestly speaks for itself. read more

Don't bother. These guys don't know how to run a restaurant. slow service, overpriced, dull flavors, terribly cold dining room. Items ordered never were received. Lots of items on menu not in stock. I don't think these guys know what they are doing. Their heart may be in the right place, but the execution is poor. Burning $150 for 4 people for a lame meal isn't going to even register for me, but for other families that might be an occasional splurge, and I can't help but warn them off. Just drive the extra 25 mins to West Hartford for Vietnamese. read more

Recently dined at Pho House and had an amazing experience. My wife had chicken lomein and it was delicious. I had a beef pho soup, which was exceptional. The service was also amazing, as co-owner Nina was our waitress. After our meal we tried the flan (guava, vanilla and taro), and it was amazing! While talking to the owner, we also learned that they organize a paint night once a month and would soon be also having a monthly pottery night. Needless to say our experience was exceptional, and we will definitely be dining at Pho house again in the future. Stopped in today for a quick lunch, had a number 12 beef pho. It was delicious and served with the usual add-ons .The staff were very friendly and attentive, overall excellent service. It's a smaller place but it's nice and clean. I'll definitely be going back. read more

Complete garbage. They were good when they were in . I went in the bathroom and there was dried poop all over the walls and toilet. The manger gave me an attitude after I explained to her that it was unacceptable. The food was sub par. The restaurant was dirty. please don't go here . read more

We got take out for our whole family and everything was delicious! Three of us got beef pho and they were so helpful to package the broth separately so the noodles weren't soggy when we got home! We also got beef and broccoli, lo mein, pork buns, and boba tea- everything was so good it's hard to pick a favorite! We'll definitely be returning. read more

We've ordered take-out from Pho House a few times now and have been consistently impressed with their vegan/vegetarian options! (And we think their vegetarian pho broth is the most flavorful in a 50-mile radius.) The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Don't be put off by this restaurant being in a little town like Andover it is really a gem. The food is amazing. I had the Pho house special #11 and it was so delicious and filling. The inside of the restaurant is simple yet comfortable and clean. The wait staff is friendly and won't judge you for mispronouncing the names of the dishes. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up eating there twice in the same week. Even as takeout, it is delightful. I can't recommend enough. read more

Pho House is a wonderful new addition to our limited dining options in Andover, CT. The restaurant is very clean and their pho is one of the best that I have had. You have the option of eating in the small but neat dining area or having the pho prepped to allow you to reheat the broth at home which ensures top quality for take-out. The Bo Luc Lac is excellent and their fried rice is far better than any nearby Chinese restaurants. Support an excellent local restaurant. read more

First time trying this restaurant tonight it was delicious! We had the beef pho and the pork and shrimp spring rolls and the bbq appetizer. All were so good. We took it to go but the dining room had plenty of tables and was clean, well lit and casual. Staff was super friendly, I would have tried it sooner but I didn't hear about it!
