My absolute favorite Filipino restaurant, its the only place I go when Im craving Filipino food. I used to go to their old location before it closed, despite being the same name, they did have different things on the menu which I wish they also have here. Love Kalye! It took a little while to get seated as walk-ins on a Saturday around 8:00 (so I definitely recommend making a reservation!) but it was worth the wait! A true gem of the LES! Delicious food and standout drinks with the coolest vibe and people. This is the second location of Kalye, but the only one with a full bar and what a treat that is! Came here for a happy hour and takeout moment with a friend on Saturday and grabbed some seats at the bar. Pam the hostess was so friendly and helpful with the menu, while Chris the bartender concocted the coolest drinks. We got the Manila Martini w homemade pandan syrup and the Surprise Me (I told Chris I liked sweet and vodka, and he whipped up a sweet aperol kalamansi martini- perfect!). Each was $10 during hh which is such a good price. We also got takeout- the Lumpia which were filled with a flavorful pork mix, and the Pancit Palabok which had lots of shrimp and delicious and flavorful curry over rice noodles. Both huge portions! I liked Kalye, but I didn't love it. Overall: Queens good, but with Manhattan prices. I came yesterday (Valentine's Day), and I have to say their communication is pretty good. They confirm that you're coming via text and I communicated that I would be late (but I beat the 15 minute grace period so luckily kept my table!). On busy days/nights like these, obviously you're going to keep the table 90 minutes, which I was notified of. My reservation was for 4pm (got there 4:15), and please note it wasn't like full full yet, maybe 50-60% capacity. Things that I didn't like: that the server didn't come to us until 15 minutes later (so we got to order at like 4:30), and the fact that even though we got our small plates and drinks on ok time, we didn't get our main entree (the lechon kawali) until I flagged down the server and told her we had 20 minutes left on our table (5:25ish). I just felt kind of ignored there. You *have* to make eye contact with the server, and not them just automatically check in with you (which is, y'know, service industry 101). Otherwise, the food was like I said, Queens level good. The kawali was perfect crispy. Lots of fat, but otherwise I enjoyed it. However, the stars of the show are obviously the cocktails. Shoutout to the Manila Martini (which we had to order a full size of after sampling it in the flight), you are the winner over the Dharna to me! Will come again next time for the kamayan, and I hope the service will be spectacular then :) read more

Came here on a Saturday night with no reservations and they were able to seat us - restaurant was pretty empty. The staff was incredibly sweet. Their menu is on a cube and it's annoying because each side is a different part of the menu so it's multiple scan instead of just one. The food was good but the ube horchata was my favorite. I didn't take a good pic of the garlic rice but it was extremely greasy. I wouldn't recommend that. read more

We came here specifically for the Boodle Fight 95 dish aka Club 95 ( a variety of skewers, lumpia, beef, seafood, veggies and rice). This was a good portion for 4 of us average sized girls to eat for dinner. From this, we absolutely loved the pork skewers, the beef, the lumpia, the two rice options, and the mango/cucumber salad. The seafood was agreed to be subpar. The presentation of the dish was stunning though! 4/5 We also ordered the Kinilaw (Tuna Ceviche) dish. Sadly this one was barely touched. There's public karaoke there and you can sing at your table and pretty much every table in the restaurant sang along with us or participated. I ordered a "boodle fight" feast for 4 And then added on for my extra guest. I was able to order/pay ahead of time when I messaged the restaurant which was great but they messed up my order and a Care Care was still made even though I spoke to someone beforehand and asked if I can take it off my order. They handled it really well! I loved all the flavors in my boodle feast and it took me back to my childhood eating white fish, garlic rice, sinigang, lumpia, and Filipino bbq. The owner was so kind and offered to move us to a different table because we were cold near the window. Our first meal at Kalye was great from start to finish. The ambience is a unique combination of moody/hip/urban/international vibes, and the staff provides genuinely friendly service. I am a cocktail person, and I would even consider coming back and sitting at the bar for drinks alone. The cocktail menu is so inventive- with a fun Philippine comics theme- and features so many great Asian flavors like ube, pandan, etc., presented beautifully in customized glassware with artistic garnishes. All of the food we had was lovely, but my brain keeps coming back to the mushroom sisig. I am a meat-eater, but I am not a fan of the texture of pork belly, so sisig is not something that has historically appealed to me. However, this mushroom version is so perfect in both seasoning and texture, and one of the best (if the not the best) vegetarian dishes I have had in recent memory. One of the coolest experiences I've had in New York! For my friend's birthday, we made a reservation here for 15 people and they set up an amazing feast for us. It was so incredibly well put together and there was so much food! At first, it was very overwhelming and I didn't know where to start but it was really fun eating with my hands and sharing this experience with close friends. The lumpia was soooo tasty and the lechon with the liver sauce had a nice smokiness to it. I also really liked the chicken and beef skewers. They had an eggplant salad that had a salted egg topping that was surprisingly well paired. The other dishes were less notable.
