    Fish and chips

This was our first stop on the trip to Oregon. It's a cute small restaurant with great seaside decor. I ordered the fish and chips along with a cup of chowder. My daughter had the kids Mac and cheese. My daughter loved the chowder, it's the first time she's had chowder before. Fish and chips were good. Price was high, but that's what you get for a tourist spot. Can get noisy depending on how many people are in the establishment. Seating is limited inside, though there is patio seating.

The tables were cute with seashells! I thought it was odd that the server brought 2 cups of clam chowder even though we ordered 2 additional bowls. Mo'mosa was good for $7. I was disappointed by the onion rings! I thought that it was extremely overcooked and a bit pricey for its quality.

Yum! Don't know what's up with these one star reviews. Great bustling location on the Newport bayfront. While it was busy, there was no wait when we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon in mid-July. We opted for the clam chowder in a bread bowl + onion rings and were not disappointed. As someone who spent years in New England, this bowl of chowder was legit. Fast service, fair prices, and overall positive experience. Nothing like a bowl of clam chowder near the ocean!

Friendly service and great food. While I wasn't hungry enough for a full meal, I wanted to indulge on some oysters! I The baked oysters come served with melted butter and lemon wedges. The oysters were super plump, flavorful, and satisfying. I wish they had fried oysters too, but these were still awesome. My partner ordered a bowl of clam chowder. He told me he would rate it a 10/10. Waiter was always smiling and made sure we were taken care of. When we come back to visit, I look forward to trying more food from Mo's. Worth it!

My wife and I were craving some classic fish and chips while visiting the coast. While touring the beautiful town of Newport, OR., we stopped into Mo's for a quick lunch! The service was fast and polite. The environment is warming and clean. My wife ordered the same as I, COD fish and chips. However, for a side my wife ordered the shrimp salad and I settled on a cup of chowder. The food came out quickly and the server was professional but cold. The Fish was unfortunately overcooked and had a rubber-like texture. The clam chowder was great when I added additional salt and pepper. I did however, have a small clam shell in my chowder which surprised me with an unsettling crunch. The total bill was: $43.90 without any drinks. I feel that the price is fair. The service was good and the environment was great. However, the food was below par; Especially the fish. 3/5 Stars. Thanks for reading. Cheers!

Bowl of Clam Chowder with fresh shrimp. All I could taste was bacon.

Sorry Mo's, I'm just not a fan of bacon in clam chowder. I want to taste clams not the bacon. And why couldn't I pay to add fresh crab on top of my bowl or chowder unless it was in a bread bowl, but I could only pay to add fresh shrimp? But had I ordered the bread bowl (which I didn't want because I don't like soggy bread) I could have paid to add fresh crab?

Parking is difficult, but free. A 15 minute wait for dinner. The staff were polite and friendly. Of course the clam chowder was delicious and creamy.. the oyster stew was great. The cod and halibut fish and chips were excellent. The French fries are very good. And the calamari appetizers was good. The atmosphere was good.

There's a reason you go to Mo's. It's not for groundbreaking culinary recipes or suggestions on wine pairings. It's nostalgia, consistency, and affordability. It's when you just want a a big bread bowl of chowder or some old fashioned deep fried seafood. I came here for a late lunch, at around 2pm on a Monday afternoon. I knew exactly what I wanted: a cup of chowder with cheesy garlic bread. I was seated and barely glanced at the menu. The eagle eyed waitress beelined toward me and cheerfully said something like "I see you set aside you menu already; you must have a plan!" Yes, I did. Mo's waitresses are true professionals, in my experience. This woman was everything you want in a waitress: older, genuinely friendly, prompt, and efficient. Like a good Jersey diner waitress, these women are usually ten times better at their jobs than the folks working at the fancy restaurants. Don't let people talk you out of Mo's because it's "basic". Sometimes you want something simple and comforting and relatively affordable. It's a solid choice.

8/10! service was alright, food was great, hot and delivered pretty quickly. Portions were great as well. Was pretty cold in the restaurant but it's the beach so I can't blame em'.

Just truly awful clam chowder. Watery, flavorless, mushy potatoes and not a clam to be found. The worst clam chowder I have ever had.

Nate 2026 Newport, Oregon…read more Came here based on recommendations from somebody in Bend, Oregon, and a local. I will start by saying I was not impressed. We had a reservation and they took us in a few minutes early and sat us upstairs. We sat near the window that overlooks the harbor and could see it from our table. Very pretty. There is a bar area and other tables that are away from the window that don't have the same view. When we were approached by the waitress, she informed us that they were out of Dungeness crab. Our reservation was at 6:15 PM. Seems a bit odd that a town known for Dungeness crab and the restaurant doesn't have it during peak dinner hours. My husband ordered a cup of clam chowder, and I ordered a cup of the Dungeness crab soup. I loved the creaminess of my soup. However, it was not served hot. Also, there were so many shells in my soup that every bite I had to remove one from my mouth. I do believe that the roux sauce had too much flour and was not mixed well. The clam chowder was not creamy, but had a good flavor. Chunks of carrot and celery. Both soups were served with a portion of bread. The bread was good. We shared the salmon dish. We asked our waitress if we could have the peas on the side as my husband has an allergy to peas. She was quick to tell me that there would be no substitutions. I informed her I was merely asking for the peas to put on a separate dish when brought to the table. She said that she would need to clear it with the kitchen first. Apparently, they approved, as the peas were served on the side. We did enjoy the salmon. It is cooked, medium rare. However, the middle of the salmon fillet was more rare. The buttery sauce was delicious and the asparagus was cooked very well. The mushrooms were delicious. The restaurant is very casual. The outside is not much to look at. The service was fine, but not exceptional. The food was good, but my expectations were so much higher for all of the accolades I had heard prior to dining. They add an automatic tip of 20% to every tab. Then on the bill, they politely ask for an additional gratuity. See the picture of the reason for their 20% gratuity on each bill in the photos that I have attached. I would give this restaurant four stars. It is a B rating for what should be an A restaurant.

It was a thicker clam chowder, but it was absolutely delicious. Creamy, and they were generous with the ingredients. A very good bowl of chowder. For my main course, I had the combination halibut, king Salmon, and tuna. They were very generous with the portions. The fish was delicious. The halibut and the salmon were tender and juicy. The tuna was just a tiny bit chewier, but it was also very good. The fish was lightly breaded, although a few of the pieces. Were a bit darker than the others. That took away from it just a tiny tiny bit. But overall, successful. The tartar sauce was very good, rich and tangy. Instead of the fries, I finished with the coleslaw. It was not overdressed, and I liked the dressing. It was a sweeter dressing than your standard mayonnaise, but not overly sweet. It was an excellent coleslaw. For all of the quality food I got, the price was very reasonable. I would come back the next time. I'm in town. Thank you!

As a pro tip, you should always order a side of sliced sourdough bread to go with it; it is the perfect pairing for that creamy goodness. It looks like the salmon dish my husband got had cheese on top (allergy) so I'm guessing we asked for it without the cheese after I snapped a photo and we noticed the cheese.
