Hello My Desi Friends, This is one of the worst places to buy indian groceries. All the prices are too high, for even small items. Take the case of aata Noodles, We get the same for $1.99 in New India Bazaar and Namaste plaza, But here it is sold for $2.99 why? Take Laxmi Ginger Garlic paste, Every where it costs $4.99, But here at this place it's being sold for $5.99 Why ?. And just incase if you end up buying any Kharas, They are all expensive, and the worst thing is they are expired, Check the Expiry date for yourself and you will know that! I got blindsided by very friendly staff who keeps on wishing me. Of course their vegetables are fresh but not worthy of that ridiculous high price. Be aware while check out, they charge you for very highly priced cut vegetables even though you DIDN'T buy it. I didn't realize it until I came out. I agree with some reviews they r bit high then other stores (maybe .5) but clean n fresh... where other stores ( namaste plaza in perticulat) r so dirty... how can someone cook those vegs? This store is over priced compared to other Indian stores. But I was still used to goto but samosas - still costlier but taste was good. Recently I went for shopping 2 days before Diwali n I saw firecrackers and I bought some pow pow sound makers tiny stones good for kids. They sold me that 1 packet for 1.49. Same box in Fremont is for 25 cents n other Indian store in same area is for 50 cent. I can understand 5/10 cent difference but here it's no comparison. I was looted not going to stop at this shop even for samosas and will distribute this message to whole community. read more

It's cool they have videos to rent but the thing I love most about this tiny little grocery store are the little packages of really fresh cut-up veggies. I always try to make a special trip here when I visit my friend in Pleasanton ... just for those little bags of already-cut veggies. I don't know how they keep the veggies so green and fresh (and they're good i mean GOOD veggies, too, like bitter melon and okra) and it's so wonderful they're cut up already (did I say that already?). read more

overly priced, and perhaps incorrect billing. I have had tough experience there before when they put in an item on the bill that I had not bought. I went in and asked them what is that and they said, "this happen sometimes". They happily refunded me the amount for the product that I had not bought. I went in there again, after couple of years now. Now it's different, I buy item a which says 125gms on the packet and they charge me for 165gm, so 75 cents more than NIB would charge me for an item worth $1.30. Another box packed item, Kamal would charge $2 more than NIB. The price in NIB is $6.99 and price in Kamal is $8.99. The vegetables are fresh but the price is 70%-300% more than NIB. Try brocolli, dokasai or pick anything at random. Oh another thing, do not forget to check the total on the receipt. read more

Easily the best fresh Vegetables out there in the Bay area saving for a farmers market and they have great selection of cut vegetables as well. They also have home cooked curry to go boxes. Friendly shop, prices could be a bit on the higher side but the quality does justifies read more

I repeatedly had bad experiences here on different occasions : 1. I went to this store for buying Rotis. He usually has Wheat rotis and parathas at his counter. I picked a packet of Plain parathas and asked him whether it was fresh. He said yes , absolutely. I took the packet and was about to pay when I noticed that the whole paratha had fungus..Yikes..I showed it to him and he just said "Oh". I picked up Methi paratha and same story...I just walked out. The owner did not even feel bad or embarrassed. I did not like the fact that he kept stale rotis and did not even accept it 2. We once took a DVD from their collection. After going home we noticed that the DVD would not run and had lot of scratches. Next day we told the Owner and she said "Yes, the DVD is old and we know it". Well, if its not working, why was it even kept there...for fooling people ? read more

This is one of the expensive Indian stores in the Dublin/Pleasanton area compared to Namaste Plaza and New India Bazar. However the quality of the produce is slightly better than the other two ( except the cut veggies. The Okra is hard and the bitter melon is ripe inside ). Hence, we used to stick to this place . My biggest disappointment came last month when I saw Ravi Sona Masuri rice for sale in the shop ( 20lb - $30 ). Having been tempted by the brand name, I asked the person in the shop for a 20 lb pack. Instead of the traditional 20 lb white polythene bag, this person gave me 2 10Lb bags of transparent plastic . His explanation was that Ravi Sonamasuri now comes only in the 100lb wholesale shipments and is being sold after repackaging. I cooked the rice five days later , specially on a day when I had friends in for dinner. It was horrible. The cooked rice had an unbearable stale smell , it would get mushy with the usual quantity of water or even less . The rice was woody to chew . In short , I am now left with 20lb of god knows what variety, from how long ago and how well preserved. Knowing the owners, I am not sure if they would give a refund. Keeping such stock in the shop is an injustice to trusting customers in the first place. I would recommend any one reading to avoid buying any rice from this store in the near future. Last time I checked, they still had stacks of horrible transparent bags of the worst quality rice. read more

I always enjoy going in this store - the scents and sounds of the Subcontinent delightfully engulf one as one wanders through the aisles. I once asked the proprietor whether he carried dahl (lentil) soup. He took me back to a shelf where there was a display of tomato and many other conventional American soup mixes. When I repeated my request for dahl soup - something I've come to think of as a staple in Indian cooking, he shook his head and told me, "But these are much better." read more

I have lived in Pleasanton for many years (since 1998) so I have gone off and on to this place since they first started up. I have not been happy with their service, have to go around the tiny store and interrupt them talking to one another to help. The lady once gave me a Bollywood film with such bad print that I had to return and ask for an exchange - it was equally bad print so I went the third time and asked what the problem was - she just gave me this blank look, like its your problem there ain't much I can do for you. They need to be able to help customers, offer a refund or an apology or credit for another movie - or at least play the movie right there for a trial to make sure print is good. Even if they can't do anything, it is good to at least show some understanding with customer's situation. Yes, veggies are good and you get all supplies for festivals. read more

Very expensive compared to other Indian stores. Most of the item prices are unmarked. U really get a heart attack and sticker shock when the item is rang up. Indian spinach $1.99? really!!!! I always shopped here after moving to Dublin. The staff are friendly and helpful.they always ask if I need help loading my bags into the car. The vegetables and fruits are always fresh. The best part is they sell chopped vegetables for reasonable price. read more

Quality is good, you also get freshly cut veges, but expensive. You may want to verify items billed to you each time you go there and check out. At two occassions, additional item was charged to me, and the lady at the cash register would deny of any errors at the first instance. They should be more cognitive about how they treat their clients, especially the ones who would come in regularly to buy groceries. read more

I don't know what they do is legal, but they definitely lack integrity. The place is super small which is alright but the charge u crazy. Many items are not marked with prices and when u go to cash counter u will get sticker shock, not the mild one but a strong one. They also push you to buy items at the checkout counter. This store is absolute RIP OFF !!! Prices are totally out of whack and unreasonable ! Dont understand why people go there. Unfriendly staff and very disorganized. I went to Kamal Spices because I could not find the tea I wanted from another Indian store. Kamal had the tea, a Lipton bulk Darjeeling in a 450 kg box. I was impressed by the amount of stock and number of items that were on the shelves. The items were stacked neatly and reached almost to the ceiling. The vegetables looked fresh. read more

Kamal spices is a small but very well maintained Indian grocery store. There is hardly anything you don't find here for Indian grocery except Non-VEG items. Vegetables are fresh. Customer service is very good as it is run by a family. read more

I am Gujarati and I miss home for our native food and row material to cook those yummy food. Kamal spaices is place where I can find very authentic Indian food and everything related. The awesome part of this shop is, I am getting cut fresh vegetables like methi, bhinda, french beans, carrot, dudhi and so on. Get fresh home made seasonal pickles. All kind of festival celebration things like dandiya, rangoli, decorations many more. They have 100 panipuri box which is our 2nd favorite thing about this shop. Lot of people complain about how over price their items are but for there is a reason for every thing.They have a tiny place because they do not believe in quantity but on quality and I can't say the same for New India Bazaar or Namaste Plaza,and that should be a good thing they can't store not perishable and perishable items maybe that is the reason why they are always restocking and they only have the best and the freshest items and vegetables on self not to mention there pre-cut vegetables ,I don't even cut vegetables, at home I just buy it from there they are clean,finely cut and so fresh that the cabbage has a crunch when u twist them and that is a sign of freshness. They also have been around for almost 2 decades now and they are mostly busy which means they are doing something right.yea yea not so much of a fancy establishment but always remember don't judge a book by its cover, anyways at the end I would prefer fresh items from a small family buisness than buying crap from a well known franchise. They have the best self made samosa and khams with the ingredient from there store. The best part is that there awesome customer service , for ABCD( American Born Confused Desi) like me it is so nice to ask for picking ingredients and cooking tips or even helping me with my bags when it was parked all the way next to five guys. and they took back a cookery item with 100% cash back no question asked. read more

kamal spices may have all the good shit but they have bad service you have to wait hella long just for your answer to be answered and when a movie is too old and you ask them to help you look on the shele they just say to look whats there is there if you cant find it then we dont have it.. the copies of the movies are bad and when you go to return they wont let you they give you the same shit and expect you to be happy with it just give me my damn movie back!!!!!!!
