The units are privately owned, and do vary. Some are run down, and some are beautiful. So, we booked #6-204 for three weeks this past February through the Castle management website, where you can pick your actual unit from photos. Rental rates do vary widely, depending on the unit and season. We paid about $340 a night, inc. all the fees and the 10% Hawaii hotel tax (high season). The standard cleaning fee did include a thorough maid visit once mid-way through our stay. With a full-size washer and dryer in the apartment, vacuum cleaner, etc., it was easy to keep the place tidy as we would at home. The AC, in both the bedroom and living room, worked fine, but we did not use it since the place has a floor-through design with screened windows on both ends, ceiling fans in every room, and Kihea is generally pretty breezy. We had a king-sized bed with plenty of extra pillows, two full baths with lots of towels, cable HDTV's in the bedroom and the living room, room safe, a spacious, partial-ocean view lanai with a table and four chairs, plus beach chairs, beach umbrella, foam cooler with ice packs, and beach towels, all of which we left in the car as we traveled around the island. The kitchen was adequate, with a full-sized fridge with icemaker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, bar blender, rice cooker, etc. The tableware and flatware is basic, so you should bring your own personal kitchen knives if you plan to do any serious food prep. The gardens are beautiful, and the grounds immaculate. We had a big mango tree right outside our door. The heated swimming pool was never crowded, nor were the two jacuzzi spas. There's a well-equipped, air-conditioned workout room, snack bar, vending machines, and full-time concierge. Our assigned parking space was just a few steps from the building. The other guests were considerate during quiet time (10PM-8AM). We slept with our bedroom windows open every night and were never disturbed. We have stayed in a number of different condos on Maui over the years, but we return to the Kamole Sands.

We stayed at this condo building 8 unit 204. The unit had decent enough living room furniture, patio furniture. It's a one bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms it's suppose to sleep 4 people not sure where though. There is no sleeper sofa in the living room. The bed was too soft for me. The bathroom counters and kitchen were redone in granite, but it seriously needs more remodeling. It was nice to have a washer and dryer even though it was too dated. The AC unit was old really loud and rattled but it worked. We were delighted because of the high humidity. The overhead fan itself was insufficient to keep us cool at night. The dishes, cooking utensils, glasses were of cheap quality, well I guess because it's a rental. There was a keurig coffee maker, but the filter had some small holes in it so I put some tissue in the bottom before adding the coffee grinds. The location on the other hand was convenient for us across from the beach easily accessible to the rest of the island. The grounds are very nicely kept up.

It didn't give the option of no stars. I was mortified with us place . We stayed one night only because we got in late and was too late to go anywhere else . We didn't unpack or even change clothes . The dirt , mold in shower , trash under the foldout which they considered out 2nd queen bed . The mattress was thin and worn , dirty and full of hair . The sheet was too small and didn't cover . Drapes had stains that resembled a murder scene . Bugs crawling in the coffee maker . Our parking space had an old broken down flat tire car sitting in it . Had to park elsewhere and walk . It was out worst nightmare . You must cross a busy street and large park filled with homeless , drunk, drug addicts hanging around . The beach was only rock . We immediately left the following morning and had to fight with Costco travel but eventually got a refund . We drove to the other side of the island and were lucky to find a beautiful place . Don't stay at this nightmare of a place and don't stay in Keihi . It's dangerous and a slum .

For a one bedroom room, this was fantastic. We chose this place for the added amenities of the pool/hot tub, but it wasn't specified on the website that only 4 people are able to be in the hot tub at a time over the two hot tubs. Out of the 110 units that can have at least 4 people comfortably, there can be up to 440 guests. If you're looking for a place to unwind at the end of the day, this isn't the place for you as your aren't guaranteed a spot to unwind. I would like to add, that each party of 2 is able to stay in the hot tub for up to 2 hours. Shower had hair and smears up top, so it wasn't cleaned from the people before. Baseboards had mold.

This place was absolutely perfect for our needs. Me and one of my best friend's stayed here for a week and felt right at home. We had a huge one bedroom, two bath condo overlooking the pool and a partial ocean and mountain view. The condo was fully loaded with furnishings, great island decor and appliances like home including a washer and dryer. There were many added perks as well out on the lanai (patio) such as boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and coolers for our convenience while vacationing. We encountered friendly staff throughout the whole facility and had no issues during our stay. The location is absolutely perfectly placed within minutes of the greatest snorkeling spot on the island, Ahihi Bay. Not to mention the multitude of diverse beaches along the way to the bay. Kamaole Sands is a perfect vacation spot and I will definitely revisit and book here again. Yvette Leilani Brownstone Ventura, CA

In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

Their suites are spacious and the lanai is perfect to watch sunsets every night. The pools are crowded and I did not use them but I did like the beach and service throughout the hotel. Plenty of restaurants on site. Self parking is free and plenty so valet isn't necessary. Additionally, the decor and staff showcased the incredibly rich cultural history of the area. The diverse flora around the resort was great as well. The parking lot was small as they were doing construction on a large portion of the lot. It was a struggle to find parking at times during our stay. Despite the limited parking, the valet parking garage with plenty of parking was still closed off. The room service was great. Staff were courteous and professional and service was provided very quickly. I forgot my phone charger in my car and staff went to the car and delivered the charger to my room. This was such a great example of service. Amenities such as a shave kit, soaps, additional coffee pods were also provided throughout our stay. One thing that was not provided that was requested, however was a lint roller. This seems like a simple accommodation that should be available at a 5-star resort. The room was clean and had great views of the resort and ocean. A corporate event was being hosted on the property which had a fire dancing ceremony. We were able to watch this from our room which was pretty cool. The only issue with the room was some difficulties connecting to the TV and accessing YouTube and Disney+. We ended up giving up on using the TV and watched TV on our laptop. Overall this was a wonderful stay, but fell a little short of what a 5-star resort experience should be.

From start to finish, our entire experience was absolutely wonderful. The hotel staff were all extremely kind and engaging, offering helpful tips and suggestions. We had nothing but positive interactions with the valet and the front desk. The staff that work at the on-site restaurants were also lovely. Our ocean view room was clean and spacious. It had all of the amenities we could hope for and the shower had wonderful water pressure. My only request would be that there was a shelf in the shower to put the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as we ended up having to put them on the floor and bending over in the shower while pregnant is not an easy task. The linens were soft and I appreciated the opportunity to earn food and beverage credit or Hilton reward points if we opted out of having our room cleaned each day. The blackout curtains in the room were also wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony each evening and listening to the live music that was performed each night down by the pool. There was ample pool space with plenty of pool chairs, both in the sun and in the shade. Access to the beach was extremely easy. While we were there, we also took part in morning yoga, access to the complementary aquatic activities, a sound bath under the full moon, and the infamous luau. I also booked a prenatal massage at the spa, which was absolutely divine. Access to the Courtesy Car to drop us off at nearby restaurants for reservations was extremely convenient. We appreciated the complementary reusable water bottles and the local snacks and beverages that were restocked in our mini bar. All in all, it was an absolute incredible stay and the next time we find ourselves in Maui, we will absolutely be returning to the Andaz.

A special thank you to Shermila, the front desk manager. When the storm affected our plans, she was incredibly friendly, helpful, and able to accommodate us for an additional night in the same room. During what could have been a stressful situation, she made everything much easier for us. We really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Pros: The staff throughout the property were very friendly and welcoming. The resort did not feel overcrowded, which made for a relaxing stay. Our room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a full-size kitchen that was great to have. There are a few areas that could use improvement. Housekeeping could benefit from additional training and attention to detail, as the room cleaning was not as thorough as we would have expected. The patio furniture also appeared as though it had not been cleaned in a very long time, possibly since the property opened. Unfortunately, it was dirty enough that we did not feel comfortable sitting outside and enjoying the patio. Another disappointment was the food situation. The website indicates there is a kitchen on site, but there are actually no restaurants at the property, including by the pool, and there is no real breakfast option. There is a bar across the street with limited hours that serves bar food, as well as a grab-and-go area. We received a coupon for the grab-and-go, but the options with the coupon were extremely limited. We were only able to order a premade McMuffin-style breakfast sandwich, while the other items were not eligible with the coupon. Despite these areas for improvement, we are still giving our stay five stars because of the friendly staff and, most importantly, the way Shermila and the front desk team took care of us during a difficult situation with the storm. My son and I were still in the pool on July 6th or 7th at ~8:20pm. I wasn't paying attention to the time. We were on vacation having a good time. Well I later realized the pool closes at 8pm and I genuinely hadn't noticed the posted sign. An employee (an elderly haole man) came outside and yelled "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" to which I immediately replied, "OK I'm sorry sir, we are getting out, my apologies I wasn't aware of the time" and we IMMEDIATELY started leaving the pool. Despite that, he continued yelling "GET OUT OF THE POOL!!" I am not kidding he yelled at the top of his lungs at least 5x more times. To the point that I responded that we were already getting out and had apologized, and that repeating it was unnecessary. His response was, "Well, you guys don't know how to read the sign, so you clearly need to be told several times." Wow. I completely understand the pool has posted hours and have no issue being asked to leave once I realized it was closed. That part was my mistake. What was disappointing was the way my 11 year old son and I were treated after we immediately complied. There was no reason to repeatedly yell at us or make disrespectful comments. Guests deserve to be treated with courtesy, even when they've made an honest mistake. I hope management addresses how guests are spoken to, because this interaction left a very negative impression. As a suggestion, it might help to automatically turn the pool lights off (if this happened we would have left immediately) and/or disable the gate keypad when the pool closes. We honestly didn't realize the posted hours and those changes would make it much more obvious that the pool was closed while also preventing situations like this. Because of this my family and I will never stay here again. There are plenty of other options just as good or better on Maui. TLDR: The pool closes at 8pm! If in the pool after be prepared to get yelled at by the staff repeatedly with disrespectful comments made to you and your children.
