We were in the area and wanted to have lunch before going home. My brother has always liked this place so I decided to try it out. We ordered udon, potstickers, musubi, ramen and a rock n roll. All of the food was absolutely amazing. The broth in the udon and ramen were tasty. The rock n roll was fantastic and my kids loved the musubi and potstickers. The service was friendly and quick. And the restaurant was clean and cozy. We sat by the window so we could people watch and had a great time. I am definitely coming back.

Went here on a Friday night an hour before they closed so it was pretty tight. While we were glad they were able to accommodate our big group, the service felt rushed and the server was not too patient. As a group, we wanted to sit together but the place is small and no, you can't move tables and chairs around. Too bad, it would have been a much pleasant experience. Our spicy miso ramen was good though. My mom's dumplings were okay. If service was good, probably would consider coming back. Unfortunately, it might take awhile.

Ramen and cold beer on a rainy night...what more could we ask for?! Came here w my Girls and so glad we did. We sat at the bar and had a cozy view. We each were so happy and loving all the layers of flavors in each Ramen dish. Can't wait to return and bring my boyfriend. I know he will love it here!

My boyfriend had researched this place so I went with him to eat for the first time. I personally didn't love it as much as he did, but I would go back. There was a little bit of a weight, but that's to be expected if a restaurant is really good. I've been eating udon noodles for my entire life, and this was the first time that I have ever seen the tempura vegetables smashed altogether in one "cake". I've only ever ordered the tempera vegetables as individual deep-fried vegetables. So when I asked what was in it, the waitress said "I don't know." (Now we had just gone to training for a brand new restaurant and we weren't allowed to say ...I don't know.) So when you don't know what's inside of something, it's not very alluring to the customer. yes eventually, she figured it out . I did want tempura udon. But I ordered the plain because of the comment and that it was a "processed cake". The plain was just fine. But I've made plain udon at my house many times so it's not a big deal. I was really wanting those tempura battered vegetables. I will definitely get them somewhere else. But yes, of course if my guy wants to come back here, I will come with him. He really liked his food, although I don't even really know what he ordered. It was curry and rice. But I'm not sure what the other portion of his food was. He had some matcha ice cream for dessert. He said the price was decent for the amount of food. The staff was friendly, but just extremely busy. The restaurant portion was not that large. We sat at the bar. And it was pretty clean inside. There's some chairs outside if there's a wait.

So day two of ramen! We went to the Coffee Road location the day before and craved this again. It's so yummy and filling without feeling stuffed. We ordered the Shoyu Ramen, no seaweed and added crispy onions. We also ordered the pork katsu curry, spam masubi, the Rock-n-roll sushi roll, and the gyoza. Just like at the Coffee Rd location, EVERYTHING was delicious. This place does not give you a free soft drink and it looks like they have more grill options while the other has more sushi options. This place was also clean and the staff friendly and polite. I don't know how they do it, but they only had one server taking the order and busting the tables, I suspect they run an efficient operation. Either way we loved it and will definitely go back. Enjoy!

My niece and I had a late lunch on May 28, 2024. I ordered the vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls were delicious. They were served piping hot and had a wonderful crunch. The order came with 5 medium sized spring rolls and a nice sweet chili dipping sauce. We also ordered the dumplings (aka potstickers). The dumplings were served piping hot as well. No sauce was served with a spring rolls which was disappointing. I asked for a bit of white vinegar so I could prepare my own dipping sauce but they didn't have any white vinegar, again, disappointing. The dumplings were cooked to perfection. They contained a mixture of ground pork and cabbage. Kinda your standard potstickers. My niece and I both ordered the spicy miso ramen with thick noodles. I added an extra soft egg, roasted black garlic oil and fried onions. The broth was not overly spicy or salty. The soup contained three generous pieces of fatty pork, corn, one soft egg, bamboo strips, thinly sliced green onions. The noodles were cooked to perfection. Our server was on-point with service. She was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The women's restroom was clean and fully stocked. Ample parking but during lunch, I can see parking being an issue. The portions were generous, platting was nice and the quality of the ingredients were noticeable. I highly recommend Ten Gu Ramen.

I had 30 minutes to spare before a scheduled Yelp event on District Blvd so I made a quick stop at Ten Gu Ramen. I live in the area and have always wanted to eat here but just never really got around to doing it until today. It was a bit warm for me to have ramen so I opted for a small bowl of eel & rice and an order of spam musubi. The service was definitely quick because I made it out of the restaurant within 30 minutes in time for my appointment. I do wish I had more time because I probably would've ordered a larger bowl of the eel & rice. The eel was smoky and topped with that sweet, lacquered sauce and placed on a bed of soft Japanese rice. The dish was heavily topped with fresh scallions and takuan (Japanese yellow pickled radish). Nothing amazing about the musubi as I can definitely make a better musubi at home. The spam could've been cut a little thicker so the ratio between rice and meat is a bit more proportional. Next time I'll probably try the spicy pork ramen or an udon noodle soup. The restaurant had a cool, relaxed ambiance. The staff were very attentive.

From the outside it looks pretty boring but walking into the little restaurant was like bring overseas at an authentic ramen spot! Service was friendly and we were seated immediately! Prices are reasonable. I ordered a sushi roll and spicy fried chicken both were about $20 total. My wife ordered a ramen. I really enjoyed my order and she was pleased with hers! Not the best ramen we've had but still pretty good! We also ordered the lunch size spring rolls for $2.50, they were excellent!

My friend dragged me here, he believe it's the best ramen in town. It is a pretty authentic Asian feel from the moment you walk in. Very intimate place and well decorated. We had the fried dumpling and squid appetizer, they are both pretty good. Being the true Ramen addict, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with extra pork. The broth is very nice. They put enough work into it. The pork is also good. Noodle portion is on the small side. The flavor is very well balanced. I personally prefer completely unbalanced, salty, fatty, smoky ramen. But this is a healthier option. Very satisfied

It was my first time trying Ten Gu Ramen. It place is small but mighty! I don't think it was slow the entire time we visited. The staff was friendly and everything was clean and up kept. The food was excellent! My wife has the beef udon, perfect on a cold night in Bakersfield. The soup had plenty of noodles and beef. It was a nice size serving. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were fresh, crispy and full of flavor, a perfect crunch. I had the Chicken Takoyaki. It was a nice size portion, everything was full of flavor. I wish it had just a few more veggies, but over all it was very good.

There was a mistake with one of our rolls, but the staff handled it well. They quickly remade the roll and brought us a replacement at no charge, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights was a custom roll with jalapeño, avocado, and asparagus. I added cream cheese and had it deep fried, and it honestly tasted like a sushi version of a jalapeño popper. We could've easily shared our meal with two other people needless to say we had leftovers to take home. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to going back. I know, I know, what the heck am I doing eating hot soup in the middle of a Kern County summer, you ask? Well, I'm obviously crazy and am a bit of a glutton for punishment... Also, the ramen here is worth it! I asked for the ramen spicy and the kitchen certainly did not disappoint, I liked how the added spiciness paired up with the wonderful, porky richness of the broth, I even got an extra tub of chili oil crisp! The sliced pork was very tender and delicious and paired well the bamboo shoots and bean sprouts, the scallions on top were also delicious! The only thing that would have made my ramen bowl perfect was the boiled egg or (ajitsuke tamago) I was sorely missing it in my bowl. I'm glad we did, because it gave us a whole new feel for the place. Inside isn't massive, but it's not cramped either. Think of it like the Goldilocks of restaurant spaces: just right. The vibe leans calm and cozy, dim lighting, black walls, and splashes of color here and there. It's got that "peaceful sushi zen" atmosphere without being boring. Our waitress deserves a medal (or at least an extra roll on the house). She was the only one working the floor, yet somehow managed to be friendly, attentive, and efficient all at once. Multitasking level: expert. Now onto the food, which is really why we came back. We ordered a spread: two teriyaki chicken plates, one chicken ramen bowl, an order of sushi crunch rolls, egg rolls, a large pineapple sake, a beer, and two iced teas. (Yes, we came hungry. Don't judge.) Everything came out quickly, hot, and fresh. The chicken was juicy, the rice perfectly cooked, and the little bed of veggies under the teriyaki chicken was tender-crispy and surprisingly addictive. Whoever thought of tucking those under there deserves a raise. The ramen had bold flavors that hit the spot, and the sushi rolls lived up to their name, they really were crunchy and delicious. Now, the egg rolls. Let me tell you, these might just be the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and stuffed with flavor on the inside. The kind that makes you regret ordering only one plate. Drinks? The beer was cold (and surprisingly affordable), the iced teas were strong and refreshing, and the pineapple sake... well, it was different, let's just say it's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I'll stick to tequila, lol, but my husband happily claimed the sake as his new favorite. Win-win. Prices here are fair and budget-friendly, which is always nice to see at a sushi spot. The place was clean and well-kept, and I'm happy to say it still holds up just as well as when I ordered takeout years ago. Bottom line: Shoyu Sushi is still doing its thing, fresh food, good prices, relaxing vibe, and service that makes you feel taken care of. If you want sushi that crunches, teriyaki that comforts, and egg rolls that just might ruin all other egg rolls for you, this is the spot.
