    Fries

Why are these the best fries I've ever had. I would never assume that it would be at a zoo but it is... just giving you guys your flowers.

5 stars for a zoo career with good food. Of course it is expensive. That is expected. Still, the size of the portions is outstanding. The chicken tenders are almost excessively crunchy. The fries are thick and crispy. The Caesar wrap is decent and a bit spicy. The pizza is also decent. We have had worse at the fabulous Oakland Zoo landing Cafe and paid twice as much.

On Sunday afternoon while visiting the zoo, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in for lunch with my daughter. I ordered her the Kid's Meal, which she enjoyed and it came with both sides and a drink! I ordered their Nachos, from the ooey gooey melty cheese, to the flavorful fire roasted corn, array of jalapeños and crunch to the bright colored tortilla chips, they really hit the spot! What do you call cheese that is not yours? Nacho Cheese! Lol anyone remember that joke? I would definitely recommend paying a visit the next time you are at the zoo, they have outdoor seating available and the staff were both helpful and friendly despite the line! We'll be back to try more off of their menu, maybe their salad or my boyfriend's bbq pulled pork sammie I tried, yum!

Chicken strips and fries at Kampala Cafe at the Sacramento Zoo.

I was surprised at how amazing the Sacramento Zoo is considering that it is a smaller zoo. This cafe is in an incredible location for outdoor dining - lots of foliage and birds (flamingos, ducks, etc) and a small lake for ambience while dining. The chicken fingers were lacking in flavor and a bit pricey. My adult son and I shared this meal and it was more than enough food. The portion size was large. The chicken strips were very meaty (chicken breast) and looked appetizing but were very bland. They were somewhat crunchy but not a lot of breading. Some people like that though. I prefer more breading and crunchy with some flavor. The fries were fine....nothing spectacular but also not bad.

The California burger was pretty good here. I do not regret upgrading to the garlic fries!

The California burger here was pretty good. Plenty of complaints about the prices but I'm willing to pay extra knowing that prices are paid out to employees and back to the zoo. I was full from sharing the burger and fries with my boyfriend so the portion is great. Do the upgrade to the garlic fries. It's good! They don't skimp on the garlic either. The employee who brought our food to the table was very kind in letting us know to leave our trays on the table and they will clean it up for us. 5 stars for their friendliness alone!

Turkey bacon club on jalapeno bread. Ate half. Very Yum! 9.25.

5 stars for what this cafe is, it is a place to grab lunch or a bite to eat while you are at the zoo. That being written, my husband and I usually bring a picnic lunch. We have eaten here a few times. In the last month we have eaten here 3 times. Everything we have ordered is really good. Prices are fair. They make their own chips. So yum!!! I love the jalepeno bread club sandwich. It has a really good aoli on it. They have a good selection of soft drinks, tea, and juices. If you are a zoo member you get 10% off. Staff is all very friendly and brings your food to your table. Just let them know if you are sitting outside.

The food here used to be great. Kids meal has changed, burger is bad now, kids wouldn't eat the pizza. Hard pass.

Brick Cafe - Iced silk rose latte

I decided to try the iced Silk Road latte. It had a lot of cold foam and ice. It was probably like a 5/10! Way too much ice. Really nothing special. The inside of brick cafe is really cute and well decorated. It would be a nice place to get some work done! I did see that they have some pastries but I'm not sure about food. The coffee is from temple. The staff were kind of awkward and not super friendly. Probably wouldn't return!

I think I came in with really high expectations because of all the reviews, so part of that might be on me. I originally thought it was a standalone coffee shop, but it's actually connected to Brickland Bistro. I went during a semi-morning/afternoon rush, so it was a bit busy, and the entrance to the café area did feel a little crowded. After ordering, there was a bit of a wait for our drinks since there were groups ahead of us. They didn't take names or give out order numbers, which made the process feel a little unorganized. I noticed some people who ordered after me ended up getting their drinks first. I tried their matcha latte with added vanilla. Personally, I found the milk overpowered the matcha, so it wasn't as strong as I usually prefer. My friend tried the coffee and she thought it was decent but nothing standout. On the positive side, the ambience is great if you enjoy darker, cozy spaces for studying or hanging out, and the staff was very kind and attentive. It seemed like they were doing their best despite being a new cafe and having a rush.

The specials are especially great. On my first visit to Mast I tried their churro inspired latte. I loved the cinnamon and brown sugar flavor and especially appreciated that it wasn't 'too sweet to the taste. My wife, who also enjoys coffee with a little less sugar, was impressed with their Tokyo Fog matcha. She really enjoys the natural earthy matcha flavor and the Tokyo Fog gave that to her with some beautiful floral notes. Service was fast and we had our coffees very quickly. The cafe itself is well furnished and would be an incredible place to do some work on the go or just to hang out with friends. The ambiance is calm with some really great decorations around. It's not gaudy at all - just a smooth vibe. The food here is also of high quality. The pastries in the front case look beautiful and also have a rich flavor profile. I had their savory bacon bear claw and it was packed with bacon bits and cheese. Perhaps on my next visit to this location I'll give their kitchen items a try as they looked like they would make a great breakfast.

The staff were friendly and helpful. This place seemed extremely busy on a holiday Monday morning. It did give local vibes, like neighborhood people come here.
