    Caesar wrap with fries.
    Cory N.

5 stars for a zoo career with good food. Of course it is expensive. That is expected. Still, the size of the portions is outstanding. The chicken tenders are almost excessively crunchy. The fries are thick and crispy. The Caesar wrap is decent and a bit spicy. The pizza is also decent. We have had worse at the fabulous Oakland Zoo landing Cafe and paid twice as much.

    Kid's Milk!

On Sunday afternoon while visiting the zoo, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in for lunch with my daughter. I ordered her the Kid's Meal, which she enjoyed and it came with both sides and a drink! I ordered their Nachos, from the ooey gooey melty cheese, to the flavorful fire roasted corn, array of jalapeños and crunch to the bright colored tortilla chips, they really hit the spot! What do you call cheese that is not yours? Nacho Cheese! Lol anyone remember that joke? I would definitely recommend paying a visit the next time you are at the zoo, they have outdoor seating available and the staff were both helpful and friendly despite the line! We'll be back to try more off of their menu, maybe their salad or my boyfriend's bbq pulled pork sammie I tried, yum!

Chicken strips and fries at Kampala Cafe at the Sacramento Zoo.

I was surprised at how amazing the Sacramento Zoo is considering that it is a smaller zoo. This cafe is in an incredible location for outdoor dining - lots of foliage and birds (flamingos, ducks, etc) and a small lake for ambience while dining. The chicken fingers were lacking in flavor and a bit pricey. My adult son and I shared this meal and it was more than enough food. The portion size was large. The chicken strips were very meaty (chicken breast) and looked appetizing but were very bland. They were somewhat crunchy but not a lot of breading. Some people like that though. I prefer more breading and crunchy with some flavor. The fries were fine....nothing spectacular but also not bad.

The California burger was pretty good here. I do not regret upgrading to the garlic fries!

The California burger here was pretty good. Plenty of complaints about the prices but I'm willing to pay extra knowing that prices are paid out to employees and back to the zoo. I was full from sharing the burger and fries with my boyfriend so the portion is great. Do the upgrade to the garlic fries. It's good! They don't skimp on the garlic either. The employee who brought our food to the table was very kind in letting us know to leave our trays on the table and they will clean it up for us. 5 stars for their friendliness alone!

Turkey bacon club on jalapeno bread. Ate half. Very Yum! 9.25.

5 stars for what this cafe is, it is a place to grab lunch or a bite to eat while you are at the zoo. That being written, my husband and I usually bring a picnic lunch. We have eaten here a few times. In the last month we have eaten here 3 times. Everything we have ordered is really good. Prices are fair. They make their own chips. So yum!!! I love the jalepeno bread club sandwich. It has a really good aoli on it. They have a good selection of soft drinks, tea, and juices. If you are a zoo member you get 10% off. Staff is all very friendly and brings your food to your table. Just let them know if you are sitting outside.

The Black Sesame French Toast was fantastic! We also got the Date-Orange Latte and the Salted Honey Lavender Latte, both tasted great! Our three drinks took less than 10 minutes, and I think the French Toast took exactly ten minutes. Not long at all, and it was busy when we were there(11am). My order was to-go, and they were all perfectly packaged! I so appreciate the front girl answering all my silly questions, the efficiency of the team, getting to watch the man in the kitchen do his work, and the clean and inviting presence of the place. My daughter brought in her baby milk and spilt some, only for one of the guys to clean it up quickly. I so appreciate you guys!! There was a challenge, as I also spoke with the front girl about, but parking is competitive. All the parking spots were taken. Some parking spots were reserved for the neighboring businesses, so I found parking on the roadside. Is it possible to expand the parking lot? It's tough to give patronage to this great business with this challenge. I suppose it's a good problem to have when many people want to come here ;)

Everything about this space feels intentional and welcoming, from the house-made syrups to the inviting atmosphere. Such a great local spot to relax, enjoy quality coffee, and spend time with people you love. Seasonal Menu Review: The maple pecan iced latte was smooth, flavorful, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. The strawberry toast was fresh, delicious, and paired so well with the coffee. They also had these private wooden booths that you could eat in - not too much space, but they are good if you have a dog that might get easily excited by lots of activity around. Bread on the tuna melt was great and the Cesar salad lettuce was super crunchy. Beautiful avocado toast and a double- shot of espresso to top it off. Parking lot available, lots of spaces.

The service was impeccable with each drink order tailor made to your liking. I ordered the white mocha as I was in the mood for something sweeter, and it came out perfect. Though I ordered pretty standard cafe fare, this cafe has much more to offer. There was a variety of cakes available as well as savory sandwiches, and wraps. So it doesn't matter if you're in the mood for something sweeter or savory - they have plenty of both to choose from. Seating is both inside and outside with plenty of room. But the coffee is ALWAYS dramatically over-extracted making it taste like cigarette ash, and simultaneously overly sweet. Want a unique treat or a non-espresso drink? Highly recommended. Want espresso? Run away. Yesterday I asked their barista about one of their advertised specials tastes, and she said, "I don't know how it tastes, I've never tried it. I just know it has LOTS of honey and cinnamon. Like a graham cracker maybe?" So they have no idea they're making espresso from ground cigarette butts rather than beans roasted specifically for espresso (maybe from low quality beans made for drip coffee?).

I think I came in with really high expectations because of all the reviews, so part of that might be on me. I originally thought it was a standalone coffee shop, but it's actually connected to Brickland Bistro. I went during a semi-morning/afternoon rush, so it was a bit busy, and the entrance to the café area did feel a little crowded. After ordering, there was a bit of a wait for our drinks since there were groups ahead of us. They didn't take names or give out order numbers, which made the process feel a little unorganized. I noticed some people who ordered after me ended up getting their drinks first. I tried their matcha latte with added vanilla. Personally, I found the milk overpowered the matcha, so it wasn't as strong as I usually prefer. My friend tried the coffee and she thought it was decent but nothing standout. On the positive side, the ambience is great if you enjoy darker, cozy spaces for studying or hanging out, and the staff was very kind and attentive. It seemed like they were doing their best despite being a new cafe and having a rush.
