Ok we ordered 4 things and only liked 2 out of 4 things. The calamari salad was delicious and the Godzilla roll was also amazing. The creme mushroom soup was awful, I tried to like it but just couldn't manage to eat it. I told our server that if she'd be able to replace it for another since I wasn't enjoying it- she said "no, you already had some". ( I had two spoons of that god awful soup) , the pink lady roll was mediocre at best. It's supposed to be shrimp tempura and I got what looked like mush inside I didn't even bother telling her that I didn't like it. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Prices were not notably high or low. We left very satisfied. We had the tempura shrimp appetizer followed by veggie udon and a pork katsu box. They had no problems with adding tofu to the udon. We ended up missing out on dessert because we had so much food already! The spicy tuna roll that came with the box was very large with a very favorable rice to fish ratio. The tempura was great. Wow - my partner and I moved to New York from San Francisco in March. We had our favorite spot in SF and have constantly been on the lookout for our new spot - well, folks - KanaHashi is it. The sushi is so fresh, the gyoza was incredible, and the wine kept coming. The customer service was also incredible, a very friendly bunch who works here. Also the atheistic is very cute. Used to be my go to in the area but I'm less than impressed at this point. Quality is basic. Order times are always long. They give you the option to add crunch (and will charge you fifty cents for it) but still give you crunch even if you don't order it (I hate crunch so getting despite not ordering is annoying.) Overall dissatisfied and they've lost my business. read more

Are here opening night. Really solid service for a brand new spot, good prices and good food. My wife enjoyed the Albacore. I was a pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegetarian items. I am even wearing sushi tights right now :) Yesterday I ordered sushi from another Japanese place nearby (Oishi) and for $20+tax I've got no value at all: 2 below average California rolls(one for free because of large order), awful eel avocado(you won't see the eel under microscope), 1 roll with just cucumber and one what they call dragon roll(can't remember what was inside, but outside was avocado instead of eel and that's all I was able to taste). Maki combo special for $18.95+tax from Kananashi was so good, that I ate it all without waiting for my friend, who was running late for our lunch ;) I had eel avocado, shrimp tempura and rainbow roll. It was so good, I couldn't believe it! I honestly expected much less after yesterday's experience. Rice is delicious, sushi made with nice slices of fresh fish and topped with tobiko caviar. Killer hibachi with killer service. Our waitress was one of the best I've had in a long time. She was attentive and very friendly. The quality of the food is exceptional. I haven't been able to find a restaurant in Williamsburg that serves hibachi. Their vegetables were cooked on point. It's BYOB as well. The inside is super cute and very clean.
