Our go to place for ordering Japanese food locally in Long Island City., just by counting how many times we order them on Seamless. If you don't want to read more and save time: this is our go-to place for Japanese food delivery. Good variety of dishes and delivery is usually quick. (same gentleman delivers our food every time, and he calls to make sure you get the food in time since our building now doesn't allow deliveries to door, lobby only) We trust them as a local Japanese restaurants. Here is a list of things I like: 1. Delivery is quick and with care (YES we are lazy and ordered a lot and never ventured out to Greenpoint to dine-in at the restaurant, but at some point we will!) 2. Food is delicious and not your typical Cali Roll type of Japanese cuisine. Taste is quite good and similar to some quality restaurants to dine-in in NYC. And friends pls, don't order the same cali roll or dragon roll each time from a Japanese restaurant. TRY SOMETHING NEW! This is def a good place to try 3. Look. I will be honest. This place is very unassuming. Was v impressed by everything I ordered. I sat at the bar, placed a pretty substantial order, and was presented with an appetizer on the house (chefs choice) but absolutely incredible. Asked about specials, was informed about some and added them on to my order, after I ate through my first 10 piece order. Fish is quality, price is AMAZING, and atmosphere is great. New to the neighborhood... thought we'd stop in to try out their lunch specials. Hibachi lunch specials were all plated nicely, served expeditiously and the food was flavorful. Perfect lunch sized portions... on the generous size (which is greatly appreciated). We did the steak hibachi and salmon hibachi both served with soup and salad. Miso soup had generous amounts of seaweed and the salads dressing was traditional, but thick... as it is supposed to be, no watered down dressing here! Definitely worth what we paid, and waitstaff was friendly and checked in often. Minus one star for the bar that's not open yet... but I will be back when the liquor license arrives to give them a chance to earn that last star. Their omakase set was good. But mainly writing this review to let the chef know to be more thorough with deboning their fish. My boyfriend bit into a relatively large fish bone, which we'd never experienced in lesser quality sushi. Photos attached. See how big it was?! I ordered lunch specials through their website for take out for my family. The rolls came packed very nicely, 9 rolls in total. They all said the sushi tasted very good and fresh. Absolutely love KanaHashi - it is a very family energy run company. The owner has created such a beautiful employee family dynamic . I just move to Greenpoint and I absolutely love salmon sushi, and salmon skin salad. Their salmon skin salad --- is absolutely to die for and I am very specific about my salmon skin salads ... and they are balanced and perfectly crisp. As well as the salmon wasabi crisps and salmon tartar. The fish tastes so fresh based on price point . I would say this is my fav go to sushi spot in Greenpoint . The employees whom work with work with customers at a very efficient friendly energy . Especially the employee name Chris. Chris is an absolute sweetheart , who has always gone out of his way to treat me and my order in the most efficient mannerism. As well as offering custom sushi combinations on what I request. The graciousness of curated my own sushi experience is wonderful. I highly adore him and his energy. Do NOT order through their website. They are well aware it doesn't work properly, but continue to take orders through it anyway. You will be charged, but your order will get "lost". The management is unprofessional and unhelpful. You will never get your refund. As for the sushi- it could not be any more mediocre and bland. If you're looking for authentic, high quality sushi go to Sapporo just a few blocks down. They've been around for many years & know what they're doing. read more

I stopped by KanaHashi as a part of my self care day, needless to say I was NOT disappointed. I found them on Yelp and decided to give them a try. It is very nice inside and the staff are extremely attentive. I had a Blue Zen to drink. It was okay, very similar to that of a blue Hawaiian. For appetizer I had the vegetable gyoza which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. I decided to get two sushi rolls that were kind of different for me and I'm so happy I did! The Cajun blue crab roll and Kawaii roll, BOTH WERE DELICIOUS! I highly recommend. The Cajun Blue crab roll has shrimp tempura,mango and avocado inside, with blue crab and masago on the outside with a spicy mango sauce drizzle. The Kawaii roll has shrimp tempura, spicy kani and lettuce inside, with yellow soy paper and tobiko on the outside drizzled with spicy Mayo and eel sauce. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I used my Yelp check in reward for a free desert and decided to get the tempura ice cream. Their version was a little different than what I am accustomed too but tasty none the less. Such a great experience in KanaHashi, the staff was accommodating. Our waiter brought over a spicey crab rolled in salmon (melted in your mouth) The rolls were so fresh and delicious, this is our new SUSHI spot! I've never been to this spot but I get lunch delivered from here almost once a week! They have the best veg rolls (cucumber and jalapeno, and roasted peanut and avocado!) AND unlike some other sushi spots on Manhattan Ave and Nassau Ave... They don't cross contaminate. Nothing is worse than tasting fish when you havent ordered anything with fish, ugh. Went to KanaHashi the over the weekend and was very happy with everything to say the least. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating and served each dish within great timing. Not all at once but not too slow. Now the food - it was excellent. Exactly what you want from a sushi spot in your neighborhood. We ordered the bagel special roll, excellent and fun. The sushi/sashimi is so fresh and delicious, some of the best in NYC. Every salad that we've tried on the menu is great - highly recommend the White Tuna Mango salad. And the hibachi is great too! They do it all! Desserts - also delicious. But the absolute best part about this place is the SERVICE. Warren, the owner, is an absolute sweetheart & you can tell he really cares about his customers, and giving them a good dining experience. I didn't have the best experience here. I ordered edamame, shitake roll and salmon avocado roll. Edamame was nice, hot and fresh. But the sushis were actually very bad. The shitake was cold and sweet, maybe is a specific recipe but nothing that I ever had before from a shitake roll. And the salmon looked not that fresh, with no color and no taste at all. It is very frustrating to see that restaurants are still buying sick salmon with artificial colors from caged reproduction. Even the wasabi didn't have a strong wasabi taste and the same song went on a loop for the whole time I was there. read more

Last night I decided not to cook dinner but support a local restaurant. I have not been to KanaHashi for many years, actually since it opened, yes, that many years ago, and I only live two minutes from the restaurant. I ordered take-out: the $7 fish soup, and $20 grilled duck breast with salad and rice. I waited the 20 minutes, as I was told, and thought, that's a good sign, because they are going to make everything fresh. Since I had paid in advance, I went directly home, about 2 minutes to have dinner. I figured the soup, which was the most expensive soup on the menu, would be a large size, but I was wrong, only the small cup size. The soup was lukewarm and included a stingy serving of 1shrimp and a piece of scallop, some kani (imitation crab). and narutomaki (white fish paste with a fillet of red coloring), plus some other undefinable edibles, and definitely not worth $7. Most disappointing was the grilled duck breast that the smiling girl cashier told me was delicious. Not even lukewarm , the duck breast was very dry and tough., hardly edible, I forced myself to eat a few pieces but disposed of the rest, after trying to save it by re-heating it with some broth and hoisin sauce, but that did not help at all. The duck breast was accompanied by a lukewarm small piece of bok choi and 2 asparagus tips, The salad consisted of a few strands of maybe iceberg or romaine lettuce, 1 small cherry tomato and a salmon colored sauce, The white rice in a tiny 7oz cup. Covid or no Covid, with all the wonderful chefs available due to Covid, who are lookong for work, this kitchen is truly lacking in either experience or attentiveness, probably both. I give this restaurant an F ! I am disappointed by this sad Christmas Eve experience in hoping to support a local restaurant. read more
