    Salmon lunch
    Virginia B.

First time for a lunch at Kanki in Crabtree mall. I was seated in the sushi section and the waiter came to deliver a menu quickly. It took awhile for him to come back and take my order but it did come out in a reasonable amount of time and was hot and delicious. I had salmon, rice and roasted vegetables. Not near as fun as the table where they cook it in front of you but it was a good meal.

Chef's choice sushi and sashimi dinner

Visited on a Wednesday around 7:30pm & there were still so many people and parking was nearly full. We just sat at the sushi bar area so we were able to get service faster than the others. Ordered the chef's choice sushi and sashimi dinner. Sister and I shared the platter. It may not look a lot but I thought it was good for the price & surprisingly filling for the both of us. We obviously were unable to choose which sashimi we wanted. It came with a choice of soup and salad. Both were great! Also had an extra order of mackerel sashimi with a side of steamed white rice. I thought the pieces were a tad bit too thick, but it was okay. Taste was excellent though! Ordered a cosmopolitan martini. It was very good, but it was our first time ordering one so we have nothing to compare it to. Initially, we did had to wait quite a bit to get our order in, but overall we had a great time!

I was at the bar on a Monday evening. I enjoyed the Sparking Sake and pan-fried dumplings. My bartender that evening was Robert who was amazing. I enjoyed my experience here.

Food was delicious! The service from all staff 5 stars. The ambiance is chill. It's a fun to have a personal chef cook your food for you. I ordered veggie tofu cooked without butter/ and fried rice cooked without eggs. cooked in the back for vegan dishes. It was sooooo delicious If you are Vegan you CAN have a Vegan meal here!!!

Respected professional friend suggested coming here for lunch today. We entered from the lower level of the parking deck and were greeted upon entry and seated ourselves. Our server was attentive and capped off our drinks without asking. There was lunch menu and also a sushi menu but I can't resist habachi shrimp! I opted for a salad with ginger dressing which hit the spot! The food was delicious and enough to bring a to go box home with me! It was not super busy which allowed for a quiet atmosphere where we were able to have great conversation with no distractions! Thank you for a nice lunch and a second meal!

Service was great and the food was delicious! We love the show as well. I loved their fried rice, it's amazing!

"Rice dinner" that's supposed to be two meats

The food is good but when you order to go you get a plate of rice. The meat is pretty much nonexistent for $32 which is a total rip off. You do get a little more meat when you dine in but that shouldn't be the case.

I usually really like this location. However on this visit, the service was slow and the sushi wasn't the best. We waited almost 10 mins to get our drinks. We ordered calamari and it came out cold. We did have an amazing chef though and the hibachi was good.

Disrespectful food and poor management ... ordered the lamp chop lollipops to go only to get home to see the lamb chops in my plate were laughable except I was extremely upset being I was now 30+ miles away from the restaurant. I called and spoke to a manager who told me oh well can't do anything unless I bring the food back, even after saying I'm home 30 miles away this manager expected me to drive 60+ miles round trip to bring the food back .. for them to do what with it? I offered to send a picture if he thought I was lying but he wouldn't budge. I've also reached out to their general feedback form and haven't heard anything so they clearly don't care. I won't be back.

We continue to have great experiences at Kanki. Currently I am enjoying delicious kanki leftovers as I am writing this review. Pros: - So much food! First the savory soup and ginger salad, followed by shrimp, veggies, rice, more shrimp, and more vegetables (I ordered the hibachi shrimp). By the time I was full I still had a full plate in front of me! - large dining tables allow ample room to see and enjoy the show - Ample yum yum sauce and ginger sauce, plus additional to take home - Easy access to restaurant without needing to walk through the mall - They accept reservations via Open Table most days of the week. I highly recommend making a reservation - Multiple seating options available at the teppanyaki grill or at the bar or separate dining area if you want the food, but don't need the full experience Cons: - Prepare to be snug since you will be seated very close together. There were 9 people seated at our table - They don't take reservations on Saturdays - Pricy, however you are paying for the entertainment and a large quantity of food

Wife and wanted to celebrate a milestone in our married lives so we decided to head over to the Crabtree Mall to see what choice there are. We initially thought of the Cheesecake Factory but the wait time was almost 2 hours so forget that. We saw Kanki and slightly taken aback by the 3 star rating, but after reading the reviews of my fellow Yelpers, I figured I'd give it the opportunity to prove its naysayers wrong. So in we went. They asked us if we preferred the hibachi side or the sushi side. We were seriously considering the hibachi but they warned us that the wait is 40 minutes to an hour and 20. Yikes! I guess that's what you get for trying to dine out on a Saturday at 7 pm. So we chose the the shorter wait which was the sushi area. Glad we did! The appetizers comprising of the miso soup, the ginger salad and the calamari were good. The ginger salad was a little sour for my liking. The calamari and soup arrived fairly quickly and came in really hot and wonderfully aromatic, it was a perfect start. The main entrees were satisfying. Not exceptionally good but good enough to assuage the cravings. One notable item was my wife's salmon crunchy roll. The way they grilled the salmon on top was divine. The smokey fire-kissed flavor was intoxicating. I told my wife I envied her choice and made point to have that next time. Will I come back? Why yes! One of these days I will.

On our last night visiting our daughter & son-in-law we decided to come here for dinner. We didn't know that reservations were needed as of 9/4 (which was the day we went) due to staff shortage. Luckily we were able to sit in the bar area but it was more like terrace seating as we were sitting out in the mall area. The servers in the bar area were really hustling to take orders and bring out food. Since we had something planned for dessert, we didn't want to fill up and decided to order a Petite Filet entree that my husband and I shared & a Hibachi Steak Kanki which my daughter and SIL shared. The entrees came with soup and a side salad. We also ordered sushis: Firecracker, Rock N' Roe & Sweet Dragon which we all shared. My favorite sushi was the Sweet Dragon. You could taste the smokiness of the salmon in the Rock N' Roe. I didn't like it as it was too fishy for me. That was my husband's & SIL's favorite. My daughter liked the Firecracker. The filet was very tender and seasoned well, the fried rice was flavorful and the grilled veggies were good. I'm glad we chose this restaurant. Everyone really enjoyed the food and my daughter & SIL mentioned they were happy that they were able to try the food and said that they'll be back.

The service was top notch as well. All of the wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and took care of our large group well. I started with the Old Fashioned Flight, with their Aged Old Fashioned, one with Old Forester 1920, and one with Buffalo Trace that they said was their restaurants pick. The first 2 were really good, but I think they gave me the wrong drink, because the one with BT didn't taste like it had any bourbon in it at all. But the waiter switched it out for me with a Tequila OF, which was really good. They brought out two salads for the table, and their Cesar Salad was really good, the dressing was so good. I ordered the Australian Lamb Chops, which were amazing. Simply seasoned, but done so well. I ordered a side of Chimichurri sauce, and it was not needed at all. My wife had the meatloaf, which was delicious, and the group all enjoyed their meals and drinks. We left full and happy. I definitely recommend you add this place to you list if you've never been.

The restaurant is beautiful, cozy, and comfortable, and the hosts and servers have been excellent every time. We made reservations once through OpenTable and once by phone -- both were easy, and reservations are probably a good idea since they stay busy. The food has been great both times. On our first visit, my husband and I shared the ribeye and loved the flavor. Their Caesar salad is also surprisingly unique and delicious with broccolini instead of a traditional Caesar style. I also really appreciated being able to order a single Rockefeller oyster since most places require a half dozen minimum. The second time we visited for an early Mother's Day dinner with my son and shared the off-menu tomahawk, which was excellent as well. The only consistent issue we've had has been steak temperature. We usually order medium, but their interpretation of medium has come out significantly more rare than expected. The first time, we had to send the steak back, and they asked us to identify only the undercooked portions to recook separately, which was a bit awkward and something we hadn't experienced before at a steakhouse. The second time, we tried being more specific and even requested an approximate temperature around 140°, but the steak came out closer to medium-well. That said, the flavors, atmosphere, and service have been so enjoyable that we'll absolutely keep coming back. We're just hoping we can eventually land on the perfect medium steak on a future visit.

Venue: it is good sized venue, ambient and has upscale elegant - classic theater type of look. Went to the small room area in the back to the left past the kitchen. Food: I have tried crab shrimp bisque, cheese steak roll, calamari, NY steak and cheese cake. The shrimp bisque was good but I've had better- for example near by Capital grill and definitely not closed to any of the bisque at fisherman's wharf. But you know what, when I got chunk of crab and shrimp I started to change my mind that it was getting pretty good. Cheese steak roll was pretty good but real rich. Calamari had good flavor but extremely sweet. The whole table agreed that there was unnecessary amount of sugar in there. Steak was nice and thick- however it would've been better if it had more salt and seasoning. The steak was cooked perfect medium rare. Texture was soft but I was slightly suspicious of meat tenderizer in there. Just a thought. Cheese cake was good but again, I've had better. Service: service was good. Although since it was table size to acclimate a party - everyone was attentive. Price: in my opinion it is overpriced. I.usually put price insight in the beginning but I am giving my insight on this last because- overall the experience and food was good. Surprisingly, despite the restaurant being empty, we had to wait about 30-40 minutes. The staff kept telling us our table was "getting ready," which was confusing given how quiet it was. Service throughout the meal was quite slow. We started with the shrimp appetizer, which was good. We initially ordered oysters, but were informed 10-15 minutes later that they were unavailable, so we switched to calamari, which was just okay. For entrées, we ordered steak, crab cake and crab stuffed shrimp . Steak was served on a large plate with a very small portion and no sides included. At that price point, you would expect a more substantial serving or at least accompaniments. Dessert was the highlight -- we tried the crème brûlée, chocolate cake, and carrot cake, and all were enjoyable. One odd detail: the check was split into two without the server asking how we wanted it handled. Overall, for a higher-end steakhouse, we expected better service, smoother communication, and more attention to detail. The ambience is nice, but the experience didn't quite match the price or expectations.

Once we were seated I started by ordering the Long Time Listener Cocktail (Bourbon, Blackberry, Mint, Fernet-Branca) which was excellent and probably my favorite drink of the evening. For my other drink I tried the Structured Settlement (coconut washed tequila, peach, popcorn orgeat, and lime). This drink was also good, but not as good as the long time listener. For food, we started with the Manchego-Herb Biscuits which were flaky, soft, and didn't need any butter. After that we tried the Heirloom Tomato Salad (provencal granola, mozzarella ice cream, and peaches) which was perfect. The large tomato with the crunchy granola, olive oil, and mozzarella and peaches were the perfect blend of flavors. I couldn't stop eating this dish. The last appetizer we ordered was the yellowfin tuna crudo (honeydew, Fresno chili, shiso, tom yum ice) which was perfect. The sliced honeydew with the raw yellowfin was so good!! For the entree we split the Grilled Bavette Steak (potato rosti, shishito pepper, and sauce choron). The steak cut like butter and was cooked perfectly. For dessert we ordered the blueberry upside down cake (popcorn streusel, sweet corn ice cream) which had fresh blueberries and I couldn't stop eating this dish. I'll have to add Crawford & Son to my regular Raleigh restaurant rotation as this meal was excellent. Looking forward to my next visit.

However, during my visit for dinner yesterday, I witnessed something that was extremely disturbing and completely changed my impression of the restaurant. I observed what appeared to be the manager, Bailey, reprimanding the hostess and then reaching toward and touching/grabbing at her cleavage area while saying something to her. The hostess appeared to be very young, possibly around 19 or 20, and she looked visibly uncomfortable and frightened. I sincerely hope this young woman is okay and that this situation is taken seriously and thoroughly addressed by Crawford & Son. No employee should ever feel intimidated, uncomfortable, or subjected to inappropriate physical contact in the workplace. The only reason I am leaving a one-star review is because of what I witnessed and what I perceived as deeply inappropriate behavior toward this young hostess. I hope management investigates this matter immediately.

Not a whiskey drinker, they have other cocktails and beer as well. For food, my to-go is the Lamb Burger or the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both are a hit! Not a lot of places serve Lamb Burger in the area and this is one of my favorites! Whiskey Kitchen doesn't disappoint! Highly recommend!

The first thing I…read morenoticed upon arriving was how dead it was, especially considering we went on a Friday night at 6:30PM. My boyfriend is a huge whiskey drinker and had been wanting to visit here for a while. He had heard that the best Old Fashioned were here (he said that it was not that great), and while they did have bougie cocktails, I settled for a margarita. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere and decor were great! I am a plant person, so I loved seeing all of the plants. I love the open concept and exposed ceiling. But the food......was displeasing and unappetizing. I ordered the lamp burger, and while I ordered it as well done, I did not know that it would be presented overcooked with a charred outside. If you know lamb, this caused the meat to be extremely dry. The burger itself was very bland and lacked much flavor. My boyfriend ordered the Fireman's Chicken and by the looks of it when it came out, someone should have called the fire department while it was cooking! It was so burnt it was black. The only flavor present was charred meat and it was the most dried out chicken we have ever had (unfortunately I tried it). The collard greens were bitter with little flavor and the black-eyed peas still had crunch to where they weren't cooked all the way. To say all this, to have a $100 bill was HIGHLY unappreciated as it was one of the worst meals we have had in a LONG time. I definitely could see why they were not busy. The food was cooked terrible. And I will note that it isn't that I am picky, the couple next to us barely ate their meal and looked just as dissatisfied as we were. We would NOT recommend!
