We stopped here for dinner on our first night in Alaska because frankly we didn't feel like thinking and we all love Japanese food. For being at the end of a little strip mall this place is so fun with the water wall and the player grand piano. The restaurant was spacious and didn't expect a live piano performance while dining in a sushi restaurant. It has an extensive menu that took us a while to figure out what we want. There are nigiri, sashimi, sushi rolls, and entree combinations. I got the kanpai roll and combination H nigiri set with dragon roll. The kanpai roll was delicious with a combination of salmon, tuna, and avocado then shrimp tempura, salad, and more avocado on the side. The set came with dragon roll that has eel and cucumber with 8 pieces of nigiri. The ingredients taste fresh and great value for the amount you get. There's a sushi bar on the side with plenty of tables on the other side. The menu has all the usual offerings that I can find in S. Cali. Food is good, although the chicken teriyaki tasted more stir fried than grilled and the tempura was more battered and hard than I'm used to. This place was pretty slow on a night we visited so the servers were extra attentive and kind. The early 90's jams were also an added bonus to the ambiance. I will say it is a very eclectic aesthetic. We got some hot sake, gyoza and miso with our rolls and it did not disappoint. I got the sweetheart roll and a spicy salmon hand roll and they were a wonderful serving portion, quite large to be honest, which is always nice for the price. Wish I could tell you how the food is. We were seated without menus and watched as numerous parties were seated after us with menus. Finally, after about 15 minutes, a server asked us if we had menus. We said we did not and she brought us two menus. Okay, I have been eating here for the past two weeks. I have had the Dragon Roll( so damn good), Baked Salmon Roll(omg good god), Baby Lobster Roll( honestly get two), Alaskan Roll(so good), Lunch Box C I think ( my one year old son loves the chicken teriyaki), Fried Rice Chicken and Shrimp. Anyways the food is GREAT, but yesterday I see that the dine-in, so I'm excited because the blue glass has the bubbles running and Larry is playing the piano. And I Order some Sake, listening to Larry play the piano, Larry and I are talking and we're having such a good time. Laura his wife is there we're just having a lovely time, talking about this and that. And I couldn't remember the last time I had a cold drink, good company, and a GREAT meal since everything started. It's the perfect place for a date night or lunch, with or without kids!!
