Wonderful service and delicious food. Since we've arrived and gone through Chena, North Pole, Denali, and Fairbanks this place has the best customer service out of every place we've visited. The waitress was extremely sweet and patient with our family of 8. Each person received a complimentary hot towel to wipe our hands, miso soup, and veggie side. The bulgogi and galbi was amazing. Mafia roll was very good, spicy tuna roll was delicious, and the scallops were perfectly sweet. Wow!!! Ajimi was such a hit! As a huge, huge, huge eel fan I can truly say I have not had better eel. It was so perfectly cooked so that it had an amazing consistency and was not overly well-done as I have found at many other places. We came in towards the end of the night but they were so accommodating to our group. I loved that we got little hot towels at the beginning too. They also upgraded my rice to seaweed salad and didn't charge me (which was so kind of them). I loved their seaweed salad too and would highly recommend. We all have off days, and unfortunately Ajimi missed the mark this time. There were dozens of interesting sushi rolls to choose from but as a seafood lover, I went with the 'Tropical Roll' off the special menu (shrimp, baby lobster, scallops, salmon, etc). When it arrived it was fairly dramatic in presentation, and attractive. However the size of each piece were far too large for just one bite. I suppose this might not affect others but for me it was awkward to eat and my roll wound up falling apart as I tried to negotiate the food into my mouth. Taste-wise: reasonably good, average. For all the exotic ingredients listed I couldn't really taste anything besides the tempura shrimp. The topping wasn't crunchy and was actually soggy. The plating was ok but they skimped on pickled ginger (my favorite) and wasabi. Service: the two young ladies who were waiting on tables were passably friendly but also aloof, and unconcerned. I had to get up and ask for water, a hot sake, and my friend's side of white rice never came until we reminded her after the meal while we boxed up our leftovers. She still charged $2.00 for it. I think Ajimi has potential to be better, and I'd like to give them another shot. Perhaps sitting at the counter near the sushi chefs to get their advice on the menu would be a good move next time :) read more

Excellent sushi place! We always plan on stopping by when visiting from Sacramento. Delicious rolls and friendly staff. Even got treated to a complimentary dessert on our recent visit :) A few of our favorite rolls are Volcano, Yakuza and Paradise. Complimentary miso soup and a small plate of edamame is included. Having spent a lot of time working in Japan, I will admit to being a "sushi snob". This place has totally nailed it!! Fish was amazingly fresh, rolls were nice an tight. We ordered the Love Boat (for 5) for my 2 boys and myself, the wife had a couple pieces and ordered her own food.
