Why have I never been here before?! The cuts of fish here are more than generous and fresh tasting. I could use more teriyaki sauce for my salmon, but I also am one to like her sauces. The Kansai roll was my favorite out of what I had. They were tightly rolled with presentation in mind. The rolls are a bit pricey so I do suggest happy hour. They do have a large menu that sure is to please everyone at the table. My rolls were tight, but they could have been a little tighter. Booth benches are far from the table itself so we ate at the edge of our seats (literally). Prices are a bit high, but the quality is there to match it. I would come back here again. read more

COVID Mask on but no gloves. Tried nigiri 10 pc sushi, rice is a bit crumbly but the fish looks fresh. Baked New Port roll is a bit hard to eat as the slices are not too distinct to pickup, the Kansai roll is ok, not wow. The veggie udon has good portion, so is the California roll. Free miso soup for everyone and the Yelp check in free dessert is mochi ice cream and is presentable. Service is nice and friendly but food came out slow. read more

Do not come here if you are just looking to indulge in some sushi, are an athlete wanting to bulk with your favorite food, or looking for some Japanese food while in recovery from an eating disorder. Apparently there is an unspoken food limit and servers will comment on the large amount of food you are ordering. I understand if this was just a simple observation, or warning for how much food you might be ordering; but it just took me so off guard and deeply upset me, to the point of tears. A sushi spot for the young and fun crowd I think. Normally the large space is quiet and cool, but beware during a heat wave! We've been there a few times over the past 5 years and they are pretty consistently good. On a visit this week we did note that some of the rolls, nigiri and sashimi were portioned with a very large size. This made for a challenge eating them, but there are worse sushi crimes. read more

Was in the area, and my family was in the mood for sushi. During these times, the inside dining isnt operating, but they do have takeout. Ordering is simple through the Yelp app, so I can't speak on any other avenues to order from here. It didnt take long for the order to be ready, the app tells you when it's ready, so you dont have to arrive sooner than expected and have to wait around. You get a good amount of food for what you order. I believe you are given a side of miso soup for each roll that you order. You also receive wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger as well. We tried a couple of rolls, and I also got some chicken katsu and shrimp tempura. Although I prefer to eat sushi on the spot, it was still pretty good after a 30 minute ride home. Kansai literally has me in a chokehold when it comes to sushi. The portions are generous, the service is attentive, & their happy hour meal is SUCH a good deal. There are lots of choices for Sushi in Concord and so we have been making our rounds trying them all! However, when we want to ensure that we have a good meal we always come back to this place. This is also a good choice when you have a big party. Because the restaurant is large with plenty of tables to push together. Our party of 10 chose to eat here after my son's graduation and of course this place delivered as usual. I had a lion King roll and a tuna Maki sushi which turned out very fresh and delicious. My parents they had this ginormous tempura mix plate just take a look at that picture! it was begging to be shared with the whole table! My daughter had the Chirashi bowl and it was loaded with a fresh variety of fish and thick nice pieces. read more

This place is right next door to Ohgane. They have happy hour everyday from 3-6pm and I went on a Saturday around 3:45pm. They offer in door dining but you have to show proof of vaccination. Once seated, you get 2 sets of menus - happy hour menu and regular menu. We opted for a lot of happy hour items and concluded that the quality of the rolls and fish were pretty average. The rice on the rolls were mushy and you can tell they're not the best quality, but the rolls were big. The sashimi reminded me of the quality you get at Asian buffets. The pricing for the rolls were average as well. Service was really good. The staff continually checked on us and refilled our waters. Overall, it didn't leave me impressed and I probably will not return with all the sushi options around the bay area. read more

We realized too late that the high ratings for this place are for the quantity of the food, not the quality. We ordered California rolls, "kani" nigiri, a lion king roll and pickled pumpkin maki. The California rolls were overly sweet with stale tasting krab, and the "kani" maki was topped with a dollop this same sweet krab (although it was clearly stated in the description that the crab meat would be imitation) rather than a slab of meat. The lion king roll, though enormous and caked in half an inch of special sauce, was terrible. The rice was mushy, it was swimming in grease and much, much too heavy. I ate about a third of it before I gave up. I realize that times are tough and it's perfectly valid to want a lot of food for not a lot of money, but a lot of bad food is still well, a lot of bad food. read more

One of the best sushi places in CCC! I've had a bad sinus infection this entire past week and had to postpone my birthday plans as a result. Since sushi is my favorite food, what better way to celebrate than order some through my trusty friend DoorDash? I had the Double Double roll last night, which has shrimp, tobiko, and avocado on top with shrimp tempura and crab inside. I also had the dragon roll and tekka maki last year when my friend ordered it while I was recovering from surgery. Dragon roll is a California roll topped with unagi, avocado, and tobiko. My go-to sushi place is normally Tatsu but Kansai's no delivery fee for $15+ orders on DD was too good to pass up! I have yet to have a bad roll from here. They included miso soup for my first meal, with which you can never go wrong. Looking forward to ordering from here and hopefully dining at the restaurant in the future! read more

First time and awful experience at lunchtime today. First of all, there's a mix and match bento menu. There are three categories, one has several selections of different kinds of sashimi. For an extra 3 dollars, you can get two items from the same category. I asked for double salmon sashimi. Salmon is one of the cheaper fishes in sushi. My bento came out with a missing seafood item that was replaced with an orange! The waitress told me that my other salmon item was coming out. We got miso soup and both were barely half full. My third bento item never came out and the waitress said she just found out that I cannot order the same item twice even if it's in the same category and I am paying an extra 3 dollars. I asked what tastes like salmon. The waitress suggested tuna so finally after a long wait, the tuna comes out and it's dark, like parts of it was almost black. I ate one piece and it tasted like blood, I wanted to throw up. We didn't finish this tuna. I told the waitress to let the chef know about this but no one ever addressed this problem. They just acted like nothing happened. Don't come here! Their sashimi isn't fresh and my partner felt sick after. He had more tuna than I did. This restaurant has no idea how to operate a business or how to treat customers. We will never return. read more

Good choice for late night dining. They're always fast to bring out food and pretty quick with to-go orders. I prefer ordering through their online site. Never disappointed when I come here or order to-go. I always get their bento boxes because the portion sizing is decent and I like their miso soup and salad (love the salad dressing). Their salmon teriyaki has nice grill marks and flavor, just needs a bit more teriyaki sauce. Also, love their chicken katsu and garlic albacore hand roll. What a great place. First, the workers are very friendly and welcoming. Second, there's plenty of parking even during the lunch or dinner rush. Third, the food is great. I've had the Bento box with teriyaki chicken and the BBQ beef and they were both very good. The beef was super tender (I liked the beef more than I did the chicken) and well seasoned. I also had the California roll which is probably the best California roll I've tasted in the area. There is so a lot of tables and two private rooms so even when we came with a party of 16, they easily accommodated us. We definitely recommend this place. Sorry I wasn't able to post pictures. We'll be going back soon so I'll make sure I make up and post plenty of pics. read more

The fish is fresh, their sauces are great and the Tonkatsu was cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend this place. Update for Feb. 22, 2020...one star....We walked in and placed a to-go order, 1-two item bento, 1-three item bento and two rolls. After waiting approximately 20+ minutes, the server provided us with a tied up bag saying everything is ready and thank you. When I got home, my three item bento did not contain three items; very disappointing. I called the restaurant and first spoke to the young girl who originally helped us, she was apologetic and placed us on hold for her supervisor; next was a gentleman that told me to come back and they will give me the missing item....that's not going to happen since I just drove back home. He puts me on hold and another woman picks up, her name is Julie. She told me I could return that night and she would credit me, unfortunately I was not planning on driving back as I had plans to take my son out...so I basically lost money on that trip. I've eaten here and gotten food to go many times.. they can do better than recycling sauces and dips. I got the shrimp tempura and the little dip is definitely someone's leftover dip. Went for dinner on Sunday and the happy hour menu was great! Ordered a Dragon roll and Lion King roll from the happy hour, and also ordered an Oakland roll and a kid's bento box. I'm happy that the bento box meal for kid's was big! My son ate it all and it was a good selection (chicken teriyaki, tempura, rice, and gyoza). Great service too.
