I haven't been here since the current owners took over and I'm bummed I've waited so long. I met a friend today for a late lunch (2 pm) and was surprised to see so many people eating. We sat ourselves and were brought menus. I saw the red curry on another table and asked the customers about it. It looked amazing. I chose that with chicken and was not disappointed. It comes with a cup of maybe jasmine rice. I'm spicy whimpy, sadly, and rhis had a very slight kick that we felt in our throat after a few seconds. I loved it! My friend ordered a pho with beef and it normally comes with meatballs but she asked for no meatballs. She also loved hers. I can't wait to bring my family. They will love it. We will definitely be back to look around at the grocery items and I've heard they have some items in a to go part of the store that I want to check out. The only problem was it was very warm inside the store so maybe we will wait for summer to be over before we sit inside again. read more

Within the market is a restaurant and they have authentic Thai and Laos food with more choices then some of the ones we have here in Sacramento! The food was excellent. We liked their homemade chili sauce so much that 3 of us bought 2 jars each!!! The market appears to have all your Asian cooking essentials and more! I was amazed to find an Authentic Southeast Asia market that offered many delicious food. I bought ready-made Lao sausage and Deep fried pork belly with sticky rice. Also ordered Beef Larb with everything. The food were delicious and indeed authentic. The spicy dipping sauce that came with the ready-made package food was phenomenal. The food portions were generous. The price is fair and affordable. The service is friendly. For Larb, I had to wait for a while but it was worth it. This place is both a restaurant and a market which make it convenient. Cleanliness wise is decent. They provide dine in area as well. I had a terrible experience at this store. None of the items are marked with prices, which allows them to charge inconsistently--I was a victim of this practice. Redding doesn't have many options for Asian groceries, but that doesn't mean businesses should take advantage of customers. On top of that, the food area is unsanitary, and I have no idea how they passed a health inspection. This was my first and last time supporting this place. Authentic Laos and Thai food, one of the only in the area. Decent prices, generally fresh quality. Can pick up some ready-to-eat items at 12-noon. Some consistency issues, sometimes really quick picking up take-out and sometimes 30mins+ wait time. Interesting Lao Asian Market/Cafe. Doesn't look like much from the outside. Even the door to enter looks like a back door service entrance. But don't let that stop you from going inside to discover another world of food, sauces, spices and so much more. Their cafe serves authentic Lao food. My favorite are the Papaya Salad (the spicy version is really spiced) and the Lao sausages. Haven't tried everything but working my way there. If you're looking for Asian food stuffs, like to do some cooking, this is about the only place around I think. I'm still a little new to the Red Bluff/Redding area. There's an are where you can get to go Asian food too. Living in Red Bluff, 30 miles is a little far to go for a few items, so I gotta make it worthwhile to come here, not that I'm the greatest cook or anything. I used to have a lot more selection living in the Sac area. Service is friendly enough, but there is a little language barrier. Prices are a little higher but you gotta figure the shipping to get the stuff here. Maybe I'll try the to go food here next time. read more

Honestly they have a lot of variety of things. I love this place but there's no price tags on anything, they just type whatever number they want in there. Awhile back I got some thin soy sauce and the lady charged me $2.99 for it and today she charged me $2.69, I know it's little and not a big deal but it's shady to their customers. There's no price tag on anything. Also she charged me a .10cents bag for my one item without asking. It's just shady stuff. Its not smart because after we receive the receipt, we can see how much we were charged and for the very few items that does have a sticker price on it, we can see we were overcharged. Honestly they have really cleaned this place up! I prefer it over Thai hut which is basically across the way. The prices allow you to go out of your comfort zone and try new stuff! The small pho is HUGE and only $6. I always have some to take home. It's also fun to shop around the market while you wait for your food. Friendly staff and authentic food in my opinion because there's things I've never heard of on the menu. Also the Nam Kow is something I'm always craving! This is my neighborhood place to eat and shop, and I love it! I've been going here for eight years, and the selection of fresh greens, mushrooms, fresh noodles (rice and wheat), and herbs is always fantastic, with better prices and quality for what you get than larger groceries (and no, I've never had trouble with finding prices on any of the grocery items). You can also buy Lao sausage that is SO good (both in store and on menu) and there's a selection of ready-made items to go for lunch! The place is part store and part restaurant, which is also convenient. The food is always hot, fresh, and I've never had an issue with takeout lagging behind when they said it would be ready. Basically, it's where I go when I'm not feeling like cooking, a neighborhood place, run by folks from the neighborhood, who turn out consistently good food, work hard, and care about their customers. I was saddened to see that one recent review took a swipe at this place based, it seems, on their mask policy during a pandemic. Don't believe the smears. Kanya Market is a tiny Asian grocery in town that also houses a tiny restaurant serving authentic Hmong food. The Hmong tendon soup was delicious, full of flavor, and reminded me of ones I had made by my Hmong friend's mom! The broth was so flavorful and full of Thai baby eggplants, silky bamboo shoots, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, fresh rau ram, etc. and the tendon and tripe were just right, not over cooked nor undercooked! It's served with a side of rice which is just right for some carb comfort on a cold winter night. The market has some of the freshest Asian veggies in town, it's a bit pricy compared to other major cities but I get it because they have to transport all the goods from so far. Definitely try the Hmong tendon soup, it was amazing! I loved it so much I brought what I couldn't finish home even though it was only like 2/3rds of a cup lol. I ordered from this restaurant via DoorDash. I was sent a message from DoorDash stating that they could not deliver to my location. I cancelled the order 3 minutes after my initial order. I was still charged $26.90 because this so called restaurant stated that they already made my order, yes in 3 minutes our dinner was already made and packed ready for delivery . These people are liars and frauds. DO NOT EAT HERE! I'm glad I didn't actually get my food, because after this all happened I posted it on my Facebook and everyone told me I was lucky because the place is roach infested. First and last time going there. My family and I was on our way to see 4 different waterfalls around the Redding area. We decided to look for an Asian market that sells pre-packaged hot food to go. I called and the gentleman said they indeed had some available. When we arrived, we were directed where the hot food was located. My family and I didn't like the selection available, so we decided to order from the menu. We ordered 5 side orders of sticky rice. ($1.50 on the menu), 2 orders of 6 wings(12 total) , 1 order of 2 quail bird along with some pepper. My daughter also grabbed a Vietnamese sandwich. After about 25 minutes, our food was ready. I quickly ask to make sure pepper was in the bag and asked for extra(which I was willing to pay). Gentlemen said yes, pepper is in the bag. I simply grabbed the food and left as we were all in a hurry. Didn't bother to open it up and look either. After our first hike to the waterfall, we decided to eat. We were hungry and needed some food for our next hike. What we found when we decided to dig into our food was unacceptable and upsetting. The 12 wings I ordered were actually 12 drummettes( 6 full wings) and bland. The two quail was overcooked, dried and burnt. The Vietnamese sandwich was horrible. It only had 3 small slices of ham , the rest was carrots. The extra pepper I requested, well.. there was only 3 small containers. The sauce was diluted with water. Worse pepper ever. The sticky rice was warm, soft, and had a good portion. I wasn't even hungry anymore because I was so upset. I finally look at my receipt while my family tried to enjoy the food and I noticed they charge me $2 each for the sticky rice and $1 for the 3 pepper sauce. Shouldn't the pepper sauce come with the chicken? Why did I get charge $1? For extra sauce? Who knows... Please don't go there for their food. Skimpy on meat as well. Chicken Basil fried rice was bland and on par with Panda Express fried rice. Pad See Ew noodles are supposed to be al dente. They were mush. The environment is horrible with no AC, only a few fans running. Today was a very hot day and the place was hotter than outside. My parents were so sweaty hot they couldn't eat. The staff were nice but service was very slow and horrible. We waited for 10 minutes to get the menu and almost 25-30 minutes for the food. This review is for their boba drinks in the back of the store where they also serve Asian food and dishes. It seems to be mainly an Asian market with various goods that you can't find at the major supermarkets in Redding. It is really hard for me to dislike a boba drink because, let's face it, as a self-proclaimed boba addict, I ain't picky. Most boba drinks are tasty to me, even if some are sweeter or blander than others. But the thai iced tea w/ boba served at this market/restaurant(?) is probably the worst I've had. They don't use black tapioca pearls, but instead they use these white ballies that have a strange and different texture. The thai iced tea part had a weird taste that I can only describe as dirty dish flavor. I wouldn't have finished it if I didn't want to waste the good $2 I spent on it (I'm a poor college student remember). I also tried their blended taro boba drink to give them another chance. It too had a strange aftertaste and tasted nothing of taro. It was more of a milkshake because for some reason they put whipped cream on it. The drinks are cheaper here than the boba tea place around the corner, but as an addict, I want the good stuff and I am willing to pay a little more for better quality. read more

This place is amazing!!! I'm always looking for a good place to try pho in town and now I've found it! The prices are great and the service is excellent! I went with a couple of friends and we all ordered something different so we can try a variety of things. Between the three of us we tried the chicken pho, rice ball salad, and pork chow mein. ALL of them were delicious. We also bought some of the pre-made foods; pork bun (YUM!!), some kind of meatball thing on a kabob, and chicken wings with rice. Everything was fantastic. And you can't beat the prices. There's another place in town (near Raley's on Hartnell) which has some amazing pho also but the price of it here at Kanya Market is literately half. While we waited for our food (which wasn't long) we browsed the store and picked up some random kitchen supplies like hoisin sauce and snacks. The prices were much better than you'd find at any grocery store. We've all decided that going to Kanya Market will be at least a weekly event. Just a note, if you want to use a credit/debit card you have to have a minimum purchase of $10. read more

This has become my favorite place to get Thai food in Redding. Although they have a small sit down area in the market, I'd definitely do take out. They are always quick with having your food ready and the food is legit. I've tried both the pad thai and pad see ew, which are yummy. However, it's their green curry that blew me out of the water - it is so tasty! If you love green curry, you definitely have to try the one at Kanya. I wasn't expecting it to be so good since their noodle dishes have been good, but nothing spectacular.
