You would never think that you can find authentic Asian food in Redding, but this place was a gem!!! Within the market is a restaurant and they have authentic Thai and Laos food with more choices then some of the ones we have here in Sacramento! The food was excellent. We liked their homemade chili sauce so much that 3 of us bought 2 jars each!!! The market appears to have all your Asian cooking essentials and more! If I am ever in the area, I would definitely make an effort to stop in. If you love Thai and Laos food, I highly recommend this place. Very friendly and helpful service. My only complaint was that the Thai coffee was way too sweet.

This market is a great find for anyone looking for Southeast Asian groceries, especially if you're on the hunt for unique ingredients like green papaya, fresh greens, and non-perishable noodle packages and seasonings. They've got it all, and it's the perfect place to stock up on all your pantry essentials. But what really sets this place apart is the restaurant and grab-and-go food options. From fresh spring rolls to Lao fried egg noodles, and even banana leaf coconut sticky rice, the food here is delicious. We ordered the Thai Boat Noodle, Hmong Tendon Soup, and sampled the Lao Papaya Salad and Beef Laab. The Lao Papaya Salad and Beef Laab were the standout dishes--perfectly flavored and bursting with authentic, vibrant tastes. And, of course, a Thai tea to wash it all down made the experience even better! The service can be a bit sporadic, but the food arrives in a timely manner, so no complaints there. If you're in the area and craving authentic Hmong and Lao/Thai inspired dishes, or just need to grab some Asian groceries, this place is a must-visit.

Great staff. Some food is good. Some food is great. This place serves Thai, Vietnamese, Laotian, and Hmong food so you can't be the best at all of them. The sesame balls and fried pork are great. The pho and papaya salad are good.

Interesting Lao Asian Market/Cafe. Doesn't look like much from the outside. Even the door to enter looks like a back door service entrance. But don't let that stop you from going inside to discover another world of food, sauces, spices and so much more. Their cafe serves authentic Lao food. My favorite are the Papaya Salad (the spicy version is really spiced) and the Lao sausages. Haven't tried everything but working my way there. Cannot find anything this authentic between the Bay Area and Portland.

Best Hmong/Laos food I've found in Redding! I've been searching for good Hmong and Laos in Redding for 2 years so glad I've finally found it. Definitely recommend!!!

I went in for some curry and they told me they were out of rice. Really? There were huge bags of rice right in the store.

I had an encounter in this store this morning that was completely unacceptable and I will not be returning. I was in the self checkout lane, scanned my groceries and selected the pay now option which I have done hundreds of times. I then tapped my card and was directed on the screen to "please wait" and then began that dreaded "circle of death". I waited several minutes and then thinking the "pay now" button didn't work I pressed it again, and again and again - at least three times. Look folks, this was an EASY fix. When I called for help the guy snapped at me while pressing the "pay now" option that all I had to do was "press the button". I tried to explain that I had already done that several times but it didn't work which is why I called him over for help. He snapped again arguing with me that I couldn't have pressed the button and that's all I needed to do. Why did this matter? Why are you ARGUING with a customer? Why are you trying to make me look and feel stupid when that is NOT necessary! He continued arguing with me and me repeatedly saying "I DID press the button it didn't work I called you for help not to get yelled at why are you arguing with me?" This was COMPLETELY unnecessary. I did speak with the manager who said he would address it, but this situation was completely avoidable and completely unnecessary. Be kind people, and when someone asks for help just help them don't make a big deal out of it. Customer lost now for good!

The soup is always hot, well attended to, and refilled regularly. At Placer Heights the salad bar is always fresh and has a dedicated attendant who also freshen the soups and cleans and stocks the bar. I've also seen (who appears to be) an upper manager who will periodically do spot checks with thermometers to ensure quality control. Wow! Very impressed! The deli is great. Meats and cheeses are always fresh. Produce is fresh and bread is fresh. Best deal in town for a sandwich and a soda! Produce rocks. Everything is fresh and presents well. But by far, the single main draw is the staff. Outstanding customer service professionals from the store manager to the Supervisors and from the head clerk to the grocery clerks and baggers. They definitely hire a type: Customer service oriented, amiable, professional, and friendly! That's why I shop and/or have lunch there nearly every day! I haven't needed substitutions for my dog food. (They were consistently out of stock at my previous location). So, considering my situation, It was a nice change. On a different note, my in-store experiences were less enjoyable. I tried to buy an inexpensive phone because mine was stolen. I still can't get it activated and it was supposed to be activated at the register. Also, it was my second time around with the same phone, because the first time was incomplete. Although I entered the store with more than 50% battery power, I soon discovered that it was draining quickly because of a malware problem. However, during checkout I was transferred from the phone counter to the front of the store because they were about to close. So, at 4% bp I had to waste the majority of what was left traveling to the front of the store. But once I reached the register, I was advised to turn off the phone while I was being rung up a second time. When I turned it on again, I was unable to get to the wallet on my phone in time to make the purchase and they kicked me out instead of helping me. So, in my opinion, they were part of the problem rather than the solution and didn't meet their responsibility to make it right. I believe It would have been better if the first guy had been more helpful and less concerned about his own issues with time management or whatever. In conclusion, I don't, like some of the employees who are here. But I do like that I am able to feed my doggy. To me that's the highest priority.
