This has become my favorite place to get Thai food in Redding. Although they have a small sit down area in the market, I'd definitely do take out. They are always quick with having your food ready and the food is legit. I've tried both the pad thai and pad see ew, which are yummy. However, it's their green curry that blew me out of the water - it is so tasty! If you love green curry, you definitely have to try the one at Kanya. I wasn't expecting it to be so good since their noodle dishes have been good, but nothing spectacular. However, their green curry is my favorite in Redding and makes me want to try out their other curries. If you love Thai food, check this place out! read more

I always try to go and support business owners. Especially this store. Every 2 weeks I would go up north pass thur this place. I away try to stop and grab something to eat. But every time I stop here they always forget something thats order. Its every time. Its always that one drink or dish that they forget to make or bring it out. Food is decent for a small business like this one but service is horrible. Even when it's very slow and u see only 2,3 people in the restaurant they still take forever. read more

Great go to place for reasonably priced food and a great portion. Tho is Thai inspired but with touch of Hmong, you will get the same great taste in the food. Most Thai places are higher in price for less of the food. I can never get enough of their Hmong sausage so delicious. And papaya is mostly a hit. It can be inconsistent but most of the time it's good. There isn't a lot of asian places to shop at so this is one of two that offers asian products.! For the product aspect, the prices are a bit up there compared to what I'm use to. Overall Its a good place to go to. I always receive good service and delicious food at this place. They have the best mango sticky rice, as well as chai tea milkshakes. There is a chai tea place across the street that is incredibly slow and not authentic. I would much rather come here. and they don't skimp out on you like the other Thai restaurants! Disappointed on my visit today. Not because they were out of the item I was looking for, it happens. Not that there was a language barrier w/the employees, no problem we were able to understand eachother. My disappointment came when I ordered my Thai Coffee w/pearls from a younger guy who knew exactly what he was doing...he overcharged me for a Thai iced coffee w/pearls. I gave him my money and when he gives me my change he looks at me as I look a little confused. I stop, look up at their menu and saw clear as day that he purposely over charged me. I won't be going back...I don't believe in cheating the customer. I've been coming here for awhile to get various things as well as my Thai coffee, so I know exactly how much it cost. So FYI to the family who runs it..don't post your price and charge $2-3 higher whenever "you" see fit. Heads up for those of you that go in to this place...watch the prices and watch your change. I love this place! They have so much great goodies in the coolers and drystock! I like going on Wednesday because thats when they have everything stocked. They run out of things im looking for the rest of the days. There restaurant inside has very good food too. Very authentic and yummy. The male owner was very hospitable, ordered a Salmon mango paradise but forgot the rice he quickly apologize when i called came back the next day ordered thai tea with bubba and rice ball as i was paying it he said its free and apologize again from the last time, he always give service with a smile and ready to serve when he sees the line is getting longer, 10% in their menu is good 20% is Great and 70% Excellent! After having eaten at Kanya for years now, the place has been sold to a young couple that know nothing about running a business. The food is not good like it use to be and that is mainly do to the cook they have that does what he wants to the recipes. It has also come to my knowledge the cook and his wife (the waitress) are here from Thailand on a tourist visa and working illegally. Also the roach and fly problem there is getting out of hand. All the kinds of sauce you want, all the fresh local produce, asain snacks and candy, noodles, thai movies, and daily fresh appetizers for sale. I used to like shopping here whenever I'm in town. This place gives me this vibe where it's undecided whether they want to be a store or restaurant. Before ownership changed, it was well stocked with a good variety of things. Not so much now. I really wanted Thai tea but since it wasn't stocked, I had to order the brewed cup, doubling the cost for the same size as I would've gotten from a bottle. However, still a good place to stop by. The super cute Pho-centric restaurant inside the market is cheap, delicious and serves a variety of super fresh standard Thai and Vietnamese style dishes with fast, family friendly service. This is my favorite place in town to get laab. I always order medium beef laab with sticky rice and my bf gets the curry. Everything's delicious. I've eaten here probably 100 times and have never been disappointed. With that being said the laab is often made a little different, but I like the variety. Sometimes the medium heat is really hot and other times it's more mild. That's fine with me because I know it's homemade and that's up to the interpretation of the cook. I'm giving this spot a 5 because its the best of thai/lao food and supplies in Redding. I also need to off-set a bad review where the person that reviewed it poorly simply called on the phone and never went in (WTF?). c'mon, now. As far as customer service goes, I have been in there multiple times and the family that runs it is super sweet and helpful. I was very pleasantly surprised w/the food. They have an awesome selection of asian seasonings, sauces, prepackaged food and cooking supplies, I basically live on Asian food and love Lao cooking, which is hard to find. They now have a full menu and packaged food that is super cheap and good. Baus w/vermicelli noodles and chinese sausage for $1.25, fried rice, spring rolls, noodles, etc for under $2.00. I also was able to get legit lao-style papaya salad (if you don;t know what that is, you probably shouldn't order it, it has crab paste, fish sauce and a ton of stuff to make it smell horrific but god i looove it). I have ordered off their thai-style menu. It was decent but not great. i;ve tried the basil noodles, papaya coconut rice, and curry rice. I still prefer this place over anywhere in Redding. I had very bland food over at Racha noodle but I'm told you have to know what to order off the menu, so Ill give it another shot before writing a review. read more

Since they have expanded, the store is looking great! They are a express now, which means they serve hot food! The owner is always very kind when I go in. The customer service isnt the best becuase they dont speak well enough english to be bubbly all the time but she is polite and will answer any questions you have. There is a weird smell when you walk in, but it's just the sauces they have inside. Try their new hot food! Yummm! read more

Nice little specialty market. Prefect place if you need galangal, dark soy sauce, octopus, or any other hard to find asian food item. Store is small, but whenever I go here I'm only getting one or two things so it's not troublesome. read more
