The staff went above and beyond to make the night special. They surprised us with complimentary yogurt soju, a taro cake, and even sang happy birthday! The sushi chef and servers were so kind and fun they even came out to share a shot with my husband after singing to him, which made the whole experience feel like we were just celebrating with friends and family. It's rare to find a place that combines great food, warm hospitality, and such a personal touch. We left with full hearts (and stomachs!). It is also the common bright pink gassed fish--not a sign of quality. I wouldn't feed this to my cat. I ate one piece of fish without rice. The texture was grainy and gross. I figure it was a fluke and tried another piece before spitting it out. Hard pass. The salmon roe sushi was also off, and inedible. The egg sushi was water-logged and not good. Finally, their chef does not know how to make proper sushi rice. The rice should be sweet with a hint of tartness, both in balance with the rice. No harmony here--it was just slightly tart. When I complained that it was inedible the server was suspiciously defensive insisting it was "fresh." If that's true, it was not good fish from a reputable vendor. If you want sushi and you're in Redding, go to Kobe or Raw.

They offer Mongolian grill here with a decent selection of meats and huge selection of veggies as well as various sushi options. For the Mongolian, it's $16.99 for lunch for ONE serving only vs $19.99 for AYCE at dinnertime. Obviously if you can, it's much better value to come for dinner as you get all you can eat for only 3 bucks more. Both of us got one serving for the Mongolian grill, which also comes with soup, a bowl of rice, and appetizer (crispy wonton chips in our case). They also give you gloves to wear for the Mongolian bar so everything is very hygienic. The selection of meats, veggies, and sauces for the Mongolian was excellent. For meats they had the basics: beef, pork, chicken, and bacon bits. But the veggies! I was shocked by how many veggie options they had as well as the extensive sauce selection. After cramming as much meat and veggies into my bowl as I could fit, I went with probably 7-8 scoops of various sauces, and I thought that was enough flavor. My friend found his stirfry bland because he didn't include enough sauce, so make sure you're putting enough. I also got the Caterpillar roll ($13.99), which was super soft and creamy and really hit the spot. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it on top of my noodles, but somehow I managed to find enough space to finish it. Honestly the bowl by itself would've been enough food, but no regrets about getting the extra sushi roll!
