Kao Mun Gai is just okay. It's Hainan chicken, so the bar is already pretty specific, and this didn't quite clear it. They have a self order kiosk where you put your order in and they bring it out to you, which is a smooth enough process. What really brought the rating down was the rice and the chicken broth that came with the meal. Both were just okay, missing that deep chicken flavor I'm looking for in a dish like this. When the broth is flat, the whole meal feels like it's missing its backbone.

Kaomun Curry !!! So delicious!!!

I love this little place!!! Always lovely service, and limited cozy seating. The food is absolutely delicious! My favorites are definitely the braised/fried chicken combo with all the sauces and the pickled cabbage is so crisp, tangy and fresh! The curry is so delicious too, if you're a fan of Japanese style curry! Love this place!

Poached White Meat and Dark Meat over Rice.

Love the simplicity of Hainan chicken and rice. This place is a small hole in the wall with seating for ten people only. It is set up more for takeout than dine in. Minimal in decor but clean and efficient. Ordering is easy on the electronic pad. It's DIY when it comes to getting utensils and napkins. There is free water available in a large dispenser. I ordered their White and Dark Meat Chicken and Rice. The poached chicken was tender and juicy. I liked the dark meat better but the breast was also perfectly cooked. The chicken flavored rice was absolutely the best! It had a lot of flavor with every bite. The meal came with their signature sauces. It would be hard to decide which of their sauces tasted the best since all were good for different reasons. The sauces used fresh ginger, garlic, and onions and were nicely balanced in sweet, salty, and spicy flavors. A small portion of pickled cabbage and carrot also came with the meal. Excellent accompaniments to the simple poached chicken and rice. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall. Restaurant staff are friendly and welcoming. Definite all around hidden gem of a restaurant.

Combo of both fried and poached over rice

This place is awesome! It's tucked in a small little plaza. A very unassuming, hole-in-the-wall spot. Upon entering, it is a bit stuffy. From what I remember, there were maybe 2-3 tables. Definitely more of a take-out spot, if anything. I asked what was the most popular as it was my first time. The combo seemed to have the best of both worlds -- fried and poached over rice. I've had Hainan chicken and this is the Thai version of it. Really delicious stuff. The rice was flavorful as it was definitely cooked in chicken broth. The fried chicken and poached chicken were solid. I prefer the scallion sauce, but to each their own. Next time, I think I'll just do poached chicken. Super flavorful and filling.

This place was amazing! It was super clean inside and very neat and organized. A hole in the wall place for sure and worth the visit! Food: 10/10 was super delicious. The best chicken and rice I've ever had! They had so many side and sauces to choose from (all free and unlimited!) the green sauce was my favorite and definitely need two! The chicken was so tender and fragrant. The skin wasn't too much of a bother and was thin. The rice was perfectly cooked not too hard or soft! Service: top notch and super friendly. The staff was very accommodating to our needs!

Small hole in the wall. It's better to order ahead to go than to eat inside. There's no more than 5 seats and people can easily hear your conversation. Chicken is soft. Sauces are good. Orange is tangy and full of garlic. Middle sauce is oil, salt and scallions. Brown sauce at first tasted on the sweeter side but the ginger slowly build heat. The rice was a little hard so I added the clear broth on top to soften it up. Over all its good for a quick Hainan chicken rice.

I found this spot while I was out shopping Glendora! The dude that helped me pick my dish was Keith and he was a super nice guy. The restaurant seemed clean inside and ample parking up front. I got the White Meat Hainan chicken and it was pretty good.

Order yourself at the counter.

Healthy tasty and high protein = right up my alley. Stopped by for a quick lunch and glad I did. I'm always up for trying chicken and rice whenever I see it. Causal, order at the counter with the tablet and self serve water works for me. Lowers the overall cost of eating out but it's fast food style that's good for you and filling! I really enjoyed my dark meat chicken and rice. The rice was excellent and well seasoned and chicken moist with what was one of the best ginger scallion sauces I've had in a while. Every sauce was so good and you can order every type at no extra cost. The chicken soup noodle was good and soothing with tons of Napa/vegetable but personally I'd repeat ordering the chicken rice. Good service and quick preparation time! Perfect for a quick meal that's again super reasonable and yummy.

Wow this was honestly such a great meal from the soup to the chicken & rice. My bf and I both ordered the half fried chicken and half poached chicken rice. I really like the soup that they gave on the side , it was really comforting. The chicken was really good, especially the poached one. Chicken was really juicy. The sauces that came with it were all delicious. We got the green Thai tea to try and it was so refreshing but make sure to dilute with ice because it's really sweet. I would definitely come back here again when I am in the area. There's lot of parking in the plaza

Garlic Soy Chicken noodle (dry)

I was in the area and thought I'd stop by and try this highly-rated place. I always love a hainan chicken and apparently this was a Thai twist on the dish. Inside is pretty small with just a few tables. I ordered through a kiosk and it was pretty fast to come out. I was greeted by a gentleman (the owner?) when I entered and he was the one to bring out my food. I ordered the garlic soy chicken noodle (dry). It unknowingly came with pickled cabbage, chili oil, and a light broth. I thought maybe the broth was something like miso soup but it was more peppery and sour which I didn't mind actually. The noodle dish wasn't necessarily bad, but I feel like the soy noodles didn't go quite as well with the hainan chicken as I thought it would. I added the chili oil and it seemed to add a little bit of dimension to the flavor. If I were back in the area and wanted to give this another try, I'd probably order the chicken over rice. This was a good experience overall; the server was very friendly and accommodating and the food wasn't bad. Just wasn't what I was thinking it would be. I would give this place 4.5/5 if I could!

Poached White Meat Chicken over Rice ($14.95) - above view

Kao Mun Gai (Glendora) is spectacular. I ordered the Poached White Meat Chicken over Rice ($14.95) with Ginger Scallion Sauce, Spicy Bean Sauce, & Sweet and Spicy Sauce. The meal is juicy, filling, and clean. I couldn't contain my smile as I bit into its plump, tender chicken. "Delicious!!!" I screamed. I arrived at Kao Mun Gai (Glendora) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is simple. It's a busy, private lot, but I quickly found a spot. This hidden, small business is a few blocks away from Azusa Pacific University. Customers order from a self-service kiosk. I selected "dine-in." Later, a very friendly & welcoming staff member brought my meal. Staff is helpful, hardworking, & charming. Staff eagerly answered all my questions. The food arrived in six minutes and 39 seconds. Very fast!! As mentioned, I ordered the Poached White Meat Chicken over Rice ($14.95). To my utter amazement, I found myself devouring this meal. Its fresh ingredients and flavors were absurdly delicious. The poached chicken was extremely soft and plump like a thickly sliced, juicy turkey on Thanksgiving. When combined with the sauces, the flavor cheerfully pops. The Green Ginger Scallion Sauce is zesty and bright. And the Spicy Bean Sauce had a comforting thickness; its flavor carried a gentle sweetness and spice. It's all so tasty!! The meal also comes with complimentary soup broth. I savored its warmth. This soup is clean, savory, and well-seasoned. However, if I had to nitpick, the rice felt a little cold. If the rice was a bit warmer, I'd have definitely enjoyed this meal more. Regardless, the Poached White Meat Chicken over Rice ($14.95) was so satisfying that I immediately purchased another for later. Concerning ambiance, Kao Mun Gai (Glendora) is very clean, minimalistic, and small. The location has no customer restroom. There's just hand sanitizer for guests. Also, there's only four tiny tables. It's a small and cozy place, and I enjoyed the upbeat music and fresh ventilation. However, the main noise in the location is the humming/buzzing from their fridge. Ambiance is definitely a weak point. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Kao Mun Gai (Glendora). This small business is the embodiment of "Don't judge a book by its cover." The food is affordable & delicious; the location is very clean; and staff is welcoming & helpful. I enthusiastically recommend!! 4.9 out of 5! "Delicious!!!"

I had to make a review right away. If you like Hainan chicken, this place is GOOD. Note that this is Thai owned, but it is even better because there are extra dipping sauces that you don't usually get in Chinese Hainan Chicken. We tried the Dark meat with rices the half fried, half chicken, and the curry. I was quite surprised as the curry tasted like Japanese curry, but it was great. The rice had flavor, wasn't too oily, chicken was tender, and the fried chicken was crispy. I can't really expect anything more, the portion was very generous as well! Each of the dishes even came with a soup! The pickled Vegetables were also very good, not too sweet or sour. The brown dipping sauce was my favorite, it came packed with spiciness but not too much, just right. Glad I was able to find this on Yelp, and give it a try and agree with the others. The menu selection isn't huge at all, and I like that this is their speciality. Can't wait to come back soon, until next time!

Head Chef Andy more than does his part in creating a "beautiful and pleasant" experience for his patrons through the gifted touch of his culinary skills. While your favorite Yelp Correspondent has sampled many Thai eateries since the days he usta live in Thai Town (East Hollywood) after graduating from USC 35+ yrs ago, he's NOT the most adventurous diner. I always confine my order to either Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. On this SAT, the eve before Memorial Day, I ordered two plates of Chicken Pad Thai. The pluses? The minced peanuts sparkled, as did the proportion of slivered carrots, green scallions and bean sprouts to chicken was ideal. The tamarind based sauce was excellent. Minuses? That the sauce in my second order was more plentiful- The first order was noticeably dryer than its follow up one was. This correspondent considers himself very fortunate to live within practical walking distance of two outstanding Thai restaurants in Diamond Bar (Silver Spoons and Basil, respectively). But when I'm in or near "the Pride of the Foothills," (Glendora) then I'll go in search of my next Ruenrom...or "pleasant experience."

The ambiance is more like a family owned diner, nothing fancy but also quite comfortable They offer lunch specials at very reasonable prices. The pad thai and pad see euw are always reliable, I personally haven't tried their curry dishes but I've had friends who thought it was quite good and were satisfied with their meal. Service is prompt and attentive. I didn't have to wait very long for my meal. I'm not an expert at Thai food, nonetheless I'm going to venture the food here is more authentic than other places I've dined at. For example, sometimes I've had pad thai that was too sweet, that's not the issue here. I really want to see this place continue to be successful. It's a comfortable place perfect for lunch and serves the students and staff at the nearby schools (Azusa Pacific and Citrus College) quite well with their food, service, and prices.

Went close to 6:00 pm and there were plenty of parking spots available in a shared plaza. It wasn't busy at the time so I was able to get my order quickly. Everything was ready and packed when I got there! I appreciate that they put the peanuts in a separate container. For the order, I got the Pad Thai and the combo platter. The pad thai was on the sweeter side. I got my order with pork as the protein choice. I felt if a lime was provided, it would help balance out the flavors of the noodles. The peanut was kept in a separate container, which I appreciated. The platter consists of a variety of items from dumplings, egg rolls, cream cheese wonton, wonton, and shrimp tempura. The container had holes to allow for the steam to escape, so most of the items were still crispy. Nothing from the platter particularly stands out in taste, besides possibly cream cheese wonton. Overall, it felt like an okay option if you're in the area.
