If you live in the neighborhood, you absolutely want to become a member of the KAPOLEI Rec Center, regardless of whether you own or rent. The amenities are fantastic, especially the pool, which is a lifesaver during this hot summer. The Rec Center offers a variety of events like dive-in movie nights and holiday celebrations, which are great for bringing the community together. They keep everyone updated with social media posts, so it's easy to stay in the loop. Staying active in your community is the best way to stay connected with your neighbors, and it's wonderful for the kids. The neighborhood watch outings are also a great way to meet people and help keep the area safe. Overall, the KAPOLEI Rec Center is a cornerstone of our community, offering amazing amenities and events that enhance our quality of life. Highly recommend joining!!

Recreation center is very nice and the staff here is very accommodating. They let the entertainers in through the back door to avoid eye contact setup mode with the guest. Lots of parking for everyone. Great for 1st Birthdays, Graduations, or any event. Facility itself is clean and very well maintained. Theres a community pool with lifeguards on duty. Tonight, we had a 1st Birthday celebration with lots of entertainment. Djing, Magic Show, Dancers, balloonist, photo booth and more. The only draw back is that they only allow you to setup 1 hour prior to the start of your event.

Pool is nice and big. I feel safe taking my kids here because they have lifeguards on duty. They do interrupt swimming time every other few hours so they can clean up the pool and for their breaks. Spacious bathrooms for everyone to rinse off before and after their swims. Free admission to ID holders and they can bring up to 5 other guests. Like many other facilities, this one also does not allow inflatable floaters but they have very few vests/jacket that fitted my toddler when we took her for a swim. Its one of those things that are already granted to us but we dont take advantage of it so often, thats how it is for us when it comes to the rec center.

It's a decent size that consist of three covered lanais and four small cabanas. The largest lanai where we were at has a regular refrigerator and a sink. The counter top is large and has several power outlets. Also there's a countertop island where the host has placed all the food. The pool is great size. Not too big and not too small. It almost takes up half of the community area. The kids really enjoyed it and surrounding the north side of the pool are lounge chairs. There is a shower between the restroom entrances to wash off the pool chlorine. Security was visible the whole time. Well two guys wearing security labeled tee shirts and taking out the bagged trash people left after cleaning up. I think they are there to enforce the rules and make sure things don't get out of hand. Overall four stars. Great parking and reasonable seating. Not quite five due to long reservation time. and looking for someone to sponsor you in. Great place to celebrate with a small crowd or family. Now to get my feet wet. M

Now that I have more time on my hands, I will TRY to write a review everyday. Maybe in hopes to refine my writing skills, too. Lol. Anyways, I thought I'd write about the Makakilo park today. I don't visit often, but it's nice to relax and enjoy good food and company. I used to like the feel at the Kapolei park next to the rec center, but this park is nice as well. One thing I like about it is that there aren't that much people, if you're planning to go in the afternoon to evening time. That being said, you can bring your whole family, friends, and pets to enjoy the whole park to yourselves. Some features of the park: ~Basketball courts, a volleyball court, and tennis courts in the area. There are also nearby restrooms too. However, no seat covers, but there are doors for your privacy. ~Exercise equipment for early bird or late night owl work out. I would really very much appreciate it if these equipment were within walking distance of my house, so Makakilo residents that live nearby the park have a real treat. Monkey bars, climbing ladder, and sit-ups may be done on these equipment and instructions are posted too! ~Playground for the kiddies ~Water faucet for easily accessible water if need be ~Excellent for large gatherings. Just be sure to bring own tables and chairs as these are not at the park ~Wide courts for riding unicycles, bicycles, and scooters! ~Small parking lot, but adequate if carpooling Nonetheless, a nice park for recreation and exercise. There's that added breeze since this park is atop Makakilo. :-)

Even though we have done this excursion many times, there's always a twist. On our latest adventure, we got to see five monk seals, with two of them playing in the ocean like little puppies. This experience solidified our decision to book Kailua Beach Adventures on our next trip to Oahu.

They have single and double kayaks. The guided tour provides life vests, dry bags, snorkels, water bottles, and lunch. The trip to the island took us approximately 1.5 hours maybe a bit more to Kayak the 2.3 miles due to strong head winds. It was faster on the return trip. We even had time to stop on flat island. This is one of my favorite activities to do while on Oahu. I love the scenic views heading to the "Mokes" and I love the views looking toward Oahu while out on the water. It's such a magical kayaking adventure. The island is a bird sanctuary and if you go at the right time you'll see nesting birds and if you are lucky, you'll see the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. We saw three (maybe four, not sure if one was the same one that swam to a different spot) on Moku Nui and one on Popoi'a Island sandbar. If you are adventurous and have the stamina and strength to kayak, I highly recommend this tour for you! Our guide Two-pre was the best!!! He told us that the tour we were on was his 400th!!
